Long-standing, laid-back bar & grill serving up cheesesteaks, classic subs & a wide range of beer.
A group of 9 of us came here on the 8th for some drinks after a viewing we attended and received horrible service. They were pretty busy when we first arrived and it took awhile to get our drinks but a lot of us were servers and understood. Eventually out waitress had came by and took our order we received our first rounds of drinks pretty quickly and then we didn’t see her again for about 30 min we went to the bar to order more drinks and the guy said he wasn’t a bartender and couldn’t make drinks we kinda just looked at him like well why are you behind the bar and where is our waitress we decided to go back to our table and wait a little longer and see if she comes back well no surprise she’s still gone and we are looking around finally the guy comes back and tells us she’s been on break…. Well we asked him if he can put in our drink order for us and someone else could possibly make them so he took our drink order and went to the bar we got our drinks about 15 min later from our server who didn’t apologize for not telling us she was going on break or that someone else would be taking care of us this continues on for basically the rest of the night long story short our service was trash and they could definitely do better.
went here to meet a friend...wasnt there long & didnt order food but it was very clean and the staff was very friendly & made me feel welcome as soon as I opened the door. I would definity come back & get food because I already love submarine house cheese steaks. thumbs up...good noooooooo...great job guys❤
A favorite local spot. Food is constantly fresh and that pepper relish is addicting. Sevice was again, top notch.
The manager wasn’t helpful at all and they were feeding groups of people alcohol way past the point they should be allowing. They need to be watched for over serving alcohol! The manager with the longer hair allowing this to happen is beyond me, not a good environment to be in. He should be looked at by higher up management honestly
This is a great place to grab a quick bite and a beer at the bar!
Service is spotty. Food is good. Dont get your hopes up for seafood.
Pretty typical sub. It was good but not exceptional. Our service was great, fast & friendly
Meredith was the best server ever. The atmosphere is cozy. It has a down home feel, with a professional twist. The food is pretty darn good too. Lots of beer selections
Tenderloin was as thin as a nickel, for real. Italian sub was too spicy hot. Not worth a 40.00 meal
Went there, the food was great and David was awesome, super knowledgeable and polite, definitely going back
What can I say? Nobody else in the Dayton area can do what this place does sandwich wise. Big fan of the beavercreek location! High quality meat and bread!
Good cheesesteak subs and fries. The house beer is not bad either.
The Sub House is definitely passing along inflation to customers. I mean, $3.79 for a side (house chipsand the sauces are $1 on top of that. That is a bit steep. The craft beer selection is poor: only 4 on the menu and one was out. The music is terrible, just turn it off. I remember when this place was really good but now, not so much. Military discount is ONLY for those in uniform? A 25-year Air Force veteran and retiree and no discount? They have a sign that says they support the military, but screw the veterans and retirees. Just WOW! Probably avoid this place for the foreseeable future.
Dont waste your time or money!! When we went in there was only 1 table (who already had their foodand a few people at the bar. It took 38 minutes to get 2 subs!! Then to top it off the bread was cold (even after being toastedand the turkey sub had zero flavor. It took our server/bartender about 35 minutes to realize we didnt have our to-go order yet. Multiple staff were standing around chatting. She apologized and said our ticket had fallen. I understand mistakes happen, and dont mind people having fun at work, but customers and their orders should be a priority! I have personally worked at restaurants for years and when accidents like this happen you offer something or at least partially reimburse a percentage of the cost. This was my first and last time trying this place!! Better training and customer service is needed if you ever want to improve!
If you bake your bread In house, please hire someone who knows how to bake...Ordered a Super Duper Cheese Steak to go and the bread was burnt and falling apart. Ended up throwing away $24.00+ worth of food because it was disgusting & inedible. You can do better.....
They will put "The Works" on your sub, which includes a pickle relish. SO glad I asked about it. Its HOT SPICY! I had them leave it off, but forgot for my husbands sub. Took it home to him and had to remove it. No one warned me it would be hot (spicy). The subs arent bad, theyre just not what they use to be. I was disappointed for the money I spent.
Always great food, great service. But I have to ask why did they change the channel to golf at 6:55 when the Kentucky Derby starts at 7:00. I asked they said someone wanted to watch golf. They did have the kd on 3 of the 9 TV. I looked around during the race, not one person was looking at golf. SMH
Great food and wonderful service. The servings were large and there was plenty to drink.
Locally owned business. One of my favorite sub places for many years. They have a number of locations. They recently changed their menu a little. Now a sandwich comes with double the meat - which is how I usually order mine - but you can still get a "lighter" option (regular/normal amount of meatso read the menu or ask your server. I get mine with "the works" which includes a really tasty pepper relish. Yummy! They also have a rewards card available. Please support locally owned businesses like this one! Highly recommended!
The wait was long for a place that wasnt overly busy. However, the food was excellent. Easily the best sub I have had in a long time. This will now be my go-to place for subs. The meat was amazing and the bread was perfect. Unique toppings made it a real pleasure.
The chicken cheese sandwich is made fresh with the works. House fries are a good choose for a side
This used to be one of our favorite places. The food quality has gone down hill. Not sure if its from lack of help or what. It just isnt what it used to be in that aspect. Service is always good.
Only liked coming for the deep fried pickle spears. The new beer battered slices suck. They weren’t crispy, still doughy, and just tasted like oil. The old ones were so much better. Probably won’t be back.
I really want to like this, but EVERYTIME we order our food is wrong. Carry out, delivery, dine in. There is always something wrong or missing. I understand a place being busy and few things going wrong, but Im over it.Tonight we ordered carry out. Was told it would be ready at 6:35, I I there at 6:30. The fried food is all mushy and soggy and they forgot the dipping sauces.
AVOID the Beavercreek, Oh location!!! Planned to eat inside, but we saw a mouse!!! The food was horrible and they got my order wrong two times! The manager Sky was rude and said it’s my mistake that the order was wrong when I hate olives and onions and would never order them on my sub. My sisters orders were incorrect also. Brown St, Downtown location is the best! Beavercreek location is the absolute WORST!!
Ordered food same as always young man read it back as we ordered it no pizza sauce. Well 2 of the 3 sub had mass amounts of pizza sauce and all food was cold. Both mangers I spoke to was rude and 110% needs fired. Then I had the owner call me from Florida to fix the issue. That his 2 mangers dropped the ball on. I will not go back and would strongly recommend only going to brown street location.
Sandwich was a mess when we received it, meat tastes fake not like real steak like it used to when I would get their sandwich off of Colonel Glenn when i was first living in Beavercreek. Not impressed!
This place has a Cheers feel to it, everyone does a great job at making you feel at home. I enjoy stopping in after work and getting a drink and lunch. Service is always great
I personally enjoy picking up to-go orders here a couple times a month at work for my employees. They are always prompt and accurate with our order. I love the food and the staff is very sweet and makes sure to get it right every time! 10/10 would recommend.
I’ll never eat at the Beavercreek location again! They got my order wrong 3 times and refused me a refund. I got no mayo when asked for extra and the cook said the cheese was mayo; the fries were cold and the sub was over seasoned! I don’t believe they can read at the Beavercreek location. The manager was very rude about the situation and said the owner doesn’t care and won’t do anything to fix it. Bad food and the staff is rude!
Always love the Subhouse..this really isnt My go to Subhouse, but I was Working in n the area so why not. Seems Their prices have skyrocketed a bit. Anyway, always delish. But nothing compares to the Brown St location. .
#submorinehouse Do NOT eat at the Beavercreek, OH location!! 1st visit, the ticket order written INCORRECTLY, and the cook Additionally INCORRECTLY made the subs on the ticket. Was given a credit. 2nd visit, the order was again written INCORRECTLY by the manager herself (Skiand again the subs werent even prepared to match the incorrect ticket. They denied everything when we returned with the food in front of them, then we were told the Owner refused to refund our money and told to leave. Again, do not eat here, because they are incompetent and dishonest; the owner, manager, and the kitchen cook (Chris).UPDATE: The owner, who replied to my review, very clearly sides with the workers over the customer, reinforcing the mindset that the customer isnt valued and likely why his employees are untrained and constantly making obvious mistakes. I never thought Id have to check my food the 2nd time, having given my order to the manager; I was so wrong... I dont know of any customer that would go through so much trouble and make 2 trips to this place if the order was correct, which it very clearly wasnt. They actually came out to the public parking lot and told me theyd call the police if I didnt leave. I had to roll the window up after the worker wouldnt walk away from my car. I called the Beavercreek police department myself, who informed me they would not come if the store called and for me to call back if they harassed me again. Rest assured a dispute was completed, this post was hashtaged on social media, and the BBB, as well as corporate will be contacted in the morning.
Every time I walk in, I am greeted like if I was family. The staff not only makes sure my order, food/ drink wise is correct and accurate, but they do regular check ins and stop by to make sure I’m okay. They also ask how I’m doing, how my day is, and I feel the genuine care and honesty from whichever staff member is helping me that day.Ive never had a bad experience here. In fact, EVERYONE GO CHECK IT OUT! You won’t regret it!!!Oh, and TEASERS are back yall !!!
What they really need to do is call this place Submarine Home instead of Submarine House because that’s exactly how it feels every time I walk into this place. The staff has always been professional and courteous! They actively stay involved in customer’s lives and really know how to turn your day around if you are down in the dumps.Their food game is phenomenal and I always look forward to a great meal when I decide to dine in. Just writing about it makes me want to go hop in the car and head that way.100% recommend here if you are ever in the area.
Came here with family FOOD WAS GREAT but I asked for none of “the works” and got it anyways(picked it offmy cousins sub was cold other than that things were great. Under staffed so everything above is understandable
Food was ok. Service was garbage. This place has plummeted. The sign out front says be patient during busy hours. There were 4 tables and 5 employees and still couldnt get a refill to save a life.Reply: thats either sexist or you clearly know which employee it was. Other than our food coming out we never seen the server and even that was someone else. I understand being under staffed when its busy but McDonalds would have handled it better today and they never get it right. Ill give you 3 instead of 2 for at least trying to fix it
Great subs, but a little pricey. The medium is definitely shareable and the teezers are incredible. Beer is way cheap on the weekends, so thats also a plus.
This wonderful place started out in a small converted house on a back road close to Wright State University, serving subs, fries, and fried mushrooms. I always got a pepperoni overload, and although theyve moved to modern digs and its not on the menu anymore, you can still ask for it. Beware- its not for the faint of heart. Their new place is great, the menu extensive, and very very tasty. The service is great, food fantastic, and if you care, there are monitors displaying sports all the time. Outdoor dining available in good weather.
Hot and fresh and friendly—this is a great one-stop sandwich shop. Yes, it is the typical bar fare, but some very well. Quality ingredients, especially the hot relish, really set this above the other sandwich places. Call in your order, and you know it will be ready at exactly the time they say.
Great food and has a hometown feel! The service is fantastic, and they always have the games on. Missy is wonderful! She always knows what we want before we even order! Great selection of beers too! Thanks for being open!! We appreciate you all!
Tons of meat sauce dripping 😋 great food and timely service with a smile✨🦸♀️
Excellent Food! Friendly customer service. First time I went to this location they got my order wrong but I didnt realize until I got home. I called them up and they apologized and delivered the correct order to my home immediately! as far as Im concerned getting orders wrong is no big deal it happens sometimes but its what the business does to make it right that counts and they made it right thank you Submarine House!
Great sandwiches made quick! I walked in randomly for food to try them out. Its a sports bar kind of place but they made a great ham and turkey sub. And they deliver to my area! Will be calling them for my wifes Philly cheesesteak hankering.
I ordered food for delivery to arrive at 6:15. At 6:30 I called to check on my order and was told it just left with delivery.... I live 9 minutes from restaurant. At 6:47 I call back and am told they have one driver and my order has not even been prepared yet and it will be another 30 minutes at least. I asked who lied to me when I called the previous time and I got no response just excuses. I get things happen... but don’t lie. Call your customers when order won’t arrive anywhere near when it’s suppose to. Oh and when I canceled the order because I gave zero faith in the idea of having my food anytime soon I’m told 3-5 days to get my money back. They could have called when I placed the order and told me they were short staffed and I would have just picked it up myself...what take orders you can’t deliver... unacceptable. Very disappointing as the staff is always very friendly when we go in. If you can’t deliver well... then just don’t deliver.
I had the most wonderful time thursday evening. My wife and I came in for a date night before going to a movie. Our server was so much fun we decided to stay and have a few drinks and play keno instead. She gave my wife a new drink idea, that she loved! Its a shame Ive forgotten her name, short hair with a lot of tattoos and a nice smile. She is incredible! She understands how to take the service industry seriously and make sure they enjoy themselves while they are out. I watched her wait her other tables and she was positive, professional, and funny in all she did. Every restaurant needs 10 of her. The food was awesome but the service was perfect!
Food is just okay. This review is purely for the food as we ordered for pick-up.Pizza sub came to us cold and not really something I wouldve let leave the kitchen, was barely enough sauce/cheese to equal a sub.Portions dont really match up w/ what you pay for--prices are steep for what you get.Just mediocre.
So here’s the thing, really enjoy this place and the environment is great, but there a two main things that bring this review down for me. The price points on all of the menu items as well as the service.Ordered the pretzel sticks and for two of them they were about $6. I would think if you got four of them then maybe the $6 could be justifiable. This was the trend through out the entireMenu. Heavy prices on items that were not matching up with the quantity.Next is the service. The service was ok, but we felt like we were inconveniencing the bar tender. She seemed to have been a veteran at this restaurant, but wasn’t really efficient. Instead of writing down orders she tried to remember them which led to a few errors. And instead of asking if our whole party needed drinks she would just do it one at a time rather then checking with our whole party. This then led to her getting angry with us when we would ask for refills. Just weird vibes all around.
Clean and bright. Restaurant smelled like delicious food being cooked. Staff was friendly and hard working. Large crowd in the dining room for a Monday. Carry out pizza and sub sandwich was excellent.
The staff is very friendly. They have great daily drink specials. Nice atmosphere. The teasers are great. I love all the specialty pizzas. The gyros and salads are wonderful. The cheese steak and the Italian subs are the best! Fun local place to hang out.
Great drink specials and amazing subs. The bone in wings come breaded without sauce( you can have them saucedthey are crispy and delicious. Teezers are tasty too! Friendly staff that take great care of us time after time.
