Rotating program of long standing club nights in underground space inspiring cultish devotion.
The bouncers looked after me in an extremely professional manner.
Visited last night to see Ewan DJ who was brilliant, I was disgusted over hearing staff taking about, if we can throw some more people out of the club we can get some more people in that didnt have tickets, who are paying more on the door.
Good techno party for a sunday
Great night out, staff are brilliant, music & DJs were outstanding.
Was in last Friday (9/9had a great night, the wee bams ahead of me in the queue getting a knock back was a personal highlight of the night
Music was terrible, same song played for over an hour “if you can call that a song” had 2 double jack daniels & didn’t even get a dunt must be watered down to almost no alchohol, myself & my girlfriend spent nearly £40 on entry & drinks then left after 70mins as wasn’t very good at all unfortunately, wasted night, definitely won’t be back.
Despite being thrown out because a guy next to me asked for K and I obliged and then the security caught me, which I don’t think is a big deal, I’ll still rate the place 4 stars, for its music and overall vibe.
Great spot for great, techno /house music, Bouncers friendly, expensive to get in, caught the staff not mixing my drink, serving me just coke, no rum.
PLEASE DO NOT support this club. I came up to Glasgow as an early birthday treat to see my friend. When we were in the queue and tried to enter the club, an extremely arrogant and rude bouncer randomly selected myself and my friend and told us we were not allowed in for being ‘too drunk’. Considering my friend had not even been drinking and I had only had a couple earlier in the night, this was completely unwarranted. I saw quite a few other people in the same situation and no one could understand why they were being talked down to when they had already pre paid their tickets and were not in an ‘unfit state’. I have seen similar reviews about this and I really think management should speak to their bouncer and fire him. It’s clearly a capacity issue within the club, but we had all already bought our tickets. I’ve been left really frustrated by this experience and I do not recommend this club to anyone who wants to have a good night with their friends.
After passing the test on what music was being played, the SS Luftwaffe pilot let me in. The only saving grace was the low ceilings
One of the most arrogant and racist club in town. Straight up one of the bouncers Kieran couldn’t recognise between two girls of the same colour, one was drunk and one wasn’t. 4 Muslims of our group were accused of being drunk. Kieran needs to be fired. If not, our group of friends will take a legal action soon. After paying £11 for a gig, we went to another club where nobody pinpointed that we were drunk. Please check the cctv footage and take the right steps towards making your club an inclusive one. I do not recommend this place to anyone, there are far better clubs with nicer people in Glasgow. Worst experience of nightlife in Glasgow because of this club. @scotland police kindly keep a check on this ill treatment of paid customers on the basis of race and colour. Kieran, if you have any shame, you should put down up your papers!!!
Unbelievably disappointed. Entry was over 11 quid and pre booked ticket only, go buy two drinks, dance with my girlfriend for less than an hour. A bouncer comes into the the dance floor and tells me I have to leave and takes me outside, completely unwarranted. Girlfriend also had to leave after paying 11 quid. Would not recommend.
Paid for a ticket and was randomly selected to leave by a member of staff. Was told we seemed too drunk despite the fact we had only a few drinks between us and as we were being told to leave was the first time this staff member had even glanced at us. They blamed it all on one person in the group who was “too drunk” but was also the only one of us who was let back in. Very clearly had gone over capacity and were just kicking out the first people they saw.
Yeah, its okay. Wouldnt go out of my way to go back and the door staff are really condescending. Fun fact: When I was 18 and more innocent, I heard people at school talk about going to sub club. My silly naïve brain thought that sub club had something to do with the subway fast food chain. My friend had to gently correct me when I asked him about it. I get more amusement remembering that story than I did from recalling the one time I went to sub club
Its a good place, but its very dangerous outside. Yesterday was my first day in Glasgow, and weve been attacked by 5 people. 1 girl 4 boys. So we had to leave the place.
Excellent sound system. Lights spot on. Great security policy, great face control. Went there 2 successive nights (Fri, Satand would definitely go again.
Fantastic wee place had the best night ever
Awesome vibes, great club. A true gem. Their door policy is the best. "Why are you here?" Perfect question. I always tell my friends about this place and the bouncer and the rumour about how the only fight ever to break out in the place was met by the dancers being so offended they took it upon themselves to throw the perpetrators themselves out the doors and into traffic. Staff hadnt needed to a thing. Who knows if its true. Legend.Wish I lived in Glasgow for vibes like this.
Great place, with good sound system. The staff are just brilliant!! The residents performed amazing! I had a great night!!Thanks Glasgow!
It is without a doubt THE BEST club in Glasgow.Ive been coming here since student days of lore 22 years ago... And will continue to fir years to come.Why?... because it is not your designer shirt and shiny shoe kinda place or designer trainer for that matter either, but if that floats your boat then you will - shock horror- still be Iet in. Because its not about how you dress, its about whether you appreciate the MUSIC. And the guys on the door tend to have a good nose for this and havent lost it over the last few decades. You will find all ages here, as the sound system is phenomenal, the best in Glasgow - nay - the UK. In fact Ill have you know it is a well noted and respected club on the European clubbing scene.I cant Im afraid describe the music as Im not on fleek with music genres so apologies if Im way off the mark - but its along the lines of house/garage/trance/dance/rave/drum and bass. You will no doubt still find clips or even full sessions on Soundcloud or the subclub website somewhere to give you a clearer idea.If youre into the commercial top 40 chart, 100000to the power of10bpm music, dancing round handbags (or KO ing people with your handbagin 20inch heels - then stay away - you wont like it and neither will the people whos toes youve just impaled.Even if you are a member of the above gang and still appreciate deep soul and heart thudding bass (occasionally funky - depends on the nights DJmusic then youre still welcome! As long as your not off your t**s as you wont get in and you promise not to heel impale or knock people out with your handbag 😁P. S yes, the clientele and music has difffered slightly over the years because times move on... But I stand by the above statement as no other place has ever matched it... 😛
Great venue like club 69 paisley but done like how have to where jeans am a raver .like track suit bottoms
Make sure you know who is playing or you won’t get in. Great nights, little mad but love it. Speaker system is unreal
Used to be my favourite club but after a disgraceful experience from management and their stance regarding customer safety and harm reduction, I wont be returning ever again. On a cold winter night last year I was in the club with a few friends, went up to the bar to get a round in and was approached by a member of staff who asked me to come with them so I bemusedly followed asking what was up until I was walked to the door and told I needed to sober up before I would be let back in. Was pretty surprising to say the least seeing as I wasnt really that drunk, intoxicated sure, but not causing any issues; I happily to admit that Ive been in much worse states in the past.Anyway that wasnt really the issue I had, I appreciate the need to remove people from the club if theyre causing issue, however after trying to speak with the bouncers I was told I needed to go for a walk and come back in a while. Now I dont need to tell you how terrible that is to advise someone who potentially could be in a bad state to go off BY THEMSELVES in what was no doubt below freezing at 2am. Talk about harm reduction, youd hope that nightclub management would be far more careful from previous tragedies such as in the Arches. Absolutely disgraceful for a club like subbie to have such a stance, cant imagine what would happen if they told someone who was in a really bad state to go off by themselves into freezing cold Glasgow with little more than a t-shirt (I wasnt allowed to get my jacket from the cloakroom).Such a shame for once was a legendary club
Got to the front door the bad teeth (some of them are missing security staff said "show id" as I showed Id the bouncer then said (without looking at said id"Im not letting you in as I reckon youre probs trouble" . And he ruin my new year eve. Even I paid on online and had a ticket. Guy just told me he checks in camera and told me I did trouble before. It’s totally lie. That guy looks like crack head , probably that night he smoke a lot of crack that’s why he told me i reckon you . I won’t go back... stay away from this dirty place is not worth
This is absolutely one of the best venues in the country! DJs Harri and Domenick use to play over there weekly, Black Madonna, Peggy Gou, Palms trax and George Fitzgerald use to have gigs over there along the year. But here comes an ADVISE: keep in mind the name of the host DJ and buy your tickets as early bird, not only to get a lower price, but also because the security may impeach your entry if you dont consider you have the profile of the someone who comes to these sort of night life. Have a great time :)
one of the best best clubs in glasgow. security can be arses though, no matter who you are.
Always an excellent night, one of the best sound systems in Glasgow with the entry and bar all reasonably priced!
I wanted to go to the subclub for years and finally after going I wasnt disappointed. Had a great night, i get why the bouncers ask you whats on to keep the riff raff out. One of the bar men was a bit of a bell end but overall it was grand.
Got quizzed intensively on the door but being a powerful sith getting in was never in question, a nice crowd, mostly blokes having a bop. Ill definitely go again next time Im up from London...I saw a person who appeared to have an orange for a head across the other side of the club, but they left before I managed to catch up with them!
Yes the bouncers are a bit over inquisitive but it means a distinct lack of bams. Tunes are always brilliant.
good tunes, good crowd not to keen on the area coming out after finish but great wee club
Went there last Saturday. Music was awful so ended up staying as a group for at most half an hour. We all hated it. Also got double charged (they charged two of us separately for the entire group at £10pp). Cheeky staff, very unhappy about it. Will surely not be returning.
Nice music and place. Actually I expected it way more smaller, but is huge! and the music is awesome. I would totally recommend it. Ive read some door policies experiences and yes... depends on how are you dressed up and the people you are with..etc. Dont complain about door policies, they decide whos in and whos not. Simple.
Great club. Amazing DJs with great music and awesome sound quality. Friendly bar staff. No problems with the other guests either here - just good vibes. Not the cheapest bar though. Security keep the people who arent there for the music out.
Great club and the only one for great DJs since the Arches closed.
Best in class as it is said... Opena at sharp 11.. no point in rushing early.. high Sound quality and class crowd makes it special
One of the best nightclubs in Europe - I you dont know the DJ youre not getting in and thats exactly how it should be
Absolutely amazing. Been to clubs all over the world but subclub really lived up to the hype. Can understand the questions on the door because the dance floor is full of a great bunch of people really enjoying themselves. Can we please have more places like this in London, so I dont have to fly up here all the time!
Great venue. The sound system is amazing and its always a good atmosphere
Like another person said, me and the missus got up to the top of the q and the doorman asked us what type of music we are looking for. I told him rave/house music. He looked at me and asked me who was DJing here tonight. I told him who was playing,(coz I googled it beforehand). I also said that Im just over from Ireland for the weekend and Im trying this place out. He let us in,but just before he let us in, he said that next time we come up,we should find out exactly who is playing in this venue as its for local people only. This fella on the door was of Indian origin looking. He was probably a HUN as well. Its people like me who get in are paying your nights wages, you HUN.
Cracking venue for a rave, never had any problems with the staff. Recently refurbished as well which is pretty cool.
So the Doorman steps forward.. "What music are you looking for tonight?" I say any - I like all music! "Sorry not good enough you cant come in! - We only want people in the club who want the specific music we play!" I tell him Im in the hotel next door.. he says "yeah thats not going to get you in the club"Okay fair point but.... is it not my decission what music I "club" too - Im an adult! Allow me to be the judge of my evenings entertainment..Had the guy said "hey Mr this is an xyz night night... Im not sure its really going to be your scene" then maybe I wouldnt leave a 1* review but to jerk me off in front of his cronies I thought was low level bully boy tactics!Ive never been refused entry anywhere in my life and the Sub Club isnt exactly the most solubrious of places on offer - readers beware!I hope this filters down to the doorman in question next time he may refuse entry to a less tollerant human being! Who may well take him to task!
Guaranteed a great time. Not a place for bubblegum pop. One of the best in Glasgow.
Really great club space! Like the seating areas. Great night too (subculture, prins Thomas/Telford)
Best nights, best people, best club in Glasgow and an absolute world contender.
It was one of the best club Ive ever been to. Its just amazing !
Best club in Scotland by a country mile. Whatever the term country mile means.
Great music, great people. And you have speakers with music even under the floor👌6£ entry is a good price too
Best nightclub in Glasgow. Great sound system, crowd and prices for entry and bar. Friendly door staff also.
Hands-down the best club in the world, nevermind Glasgow! Perfect layout, clear, crispy & punchy soundsystem and a roster of DJs and live acts to impress the most critical of electronic music fans. Standout nights include Optimo & Subculture - keep an eye out for midweek events & random promos & be prepared to queue for the bigger nights (itll be worth it). Added bonus: reasonable door staff.
