111 23rd St, Galveston, TX 77550, United States, Galveston
Easygoing hangout with a roomy, tree-shaded patio offering pub grub, local draft beer & cocktails.
Had lunch on the patio today and I was not disappointed. Fast service and perfect weather.
Nice chill spot for drinks and views. Will return to revisit when visiting Galveston
Three levels for whatever youre feeling! Rooftop drinks, food and music, darts and pool on the second floor, and casual dining on the first floor. Great food, great beers, and great service!
Best shrimp Ive ever had! Friendly atmosphere and great 2nd (3rd?Floor balcony. Our server/bartender was amazing! Thanks for making our little birthday visit to Galveston special!
Stuttgarden is a must every time Im in Galveston. The food is delicious, the beer selection is great and the staff go above and beyond.
Very pleasantly surprised. Sausages were all delicious! Schnitzel was awesome! Good beer! And all the Sides were awesome. So all in all great food. Cody, our waiter, couldn’t have been better. Really kind and attentive and very helpful! Would recommend and will definitely go back.
On our second visit to this Bavarian Biergarten we took our parents and had a very good time. Service was spot on and really friendly. Our food, brats, sandwiches, a shepherds pie, and fried fish, along with two appetizers, was all very delicious. We will definitely be back for a third visit and beyond.
Solid service from the wait staff. The door guy “Dezmond” however was incredibly rude and disrespectful. Started getting aggressive and calling me the N-word. (Dezmond is not a man of color). I’m shocked that such a nice establishment would hire such a awful service member to cover the door.
Food was ok, service was slow but I cant blame our server, she was the only one on the whole floor. 7 tables is a bit much. Management should have jumped in to help out.
Great atmosphere, great food, and great service. I really enjoyed this place.
Was at this establishment a couple of weeks ago to meet a friend and share some laughs and beers. Met John, the owner/bartender and he is just awesome. The beers selection is varied and excellent. (Although 3 of my wife’s choices kegs blew while there! Another source for laughs! The food selection is great as well. And all the services were excellent. If you get a chance to go to Galveston, don’t pass up a chance to sit at the second floor bar and enjoy time with John or Erin, the great beers, and the excellent food and service. You will leave happy!!
Ordered beef hamburger last time but the meat was burned and tasted bitter. This time I ordered 15 pieces chicken wings. I told the waitress the hamburger I ordered last was burned, she ignored me! And I asked her “ can I help some ketchup?” Her laughed and talk to the others and said” I never saw anyone eat chicken wings dip with ketchup !” Everybody laughed! I felt humiliated and assaulted!!
Love this place! Always delicious & ideal location on the Strand overlooking the bay. Great staff👍👏🙌 long island ice tea specials $4 & sauerkraut balls were so yum. Also the special was a combo burger/beauty with the works excellent. Check it out , when u can & enjoy🥰
This place was blaring obnoxious music in front of CHILDREN the other night. We were taking a ghost tour and you could hear it all the way across the street. Singing about her..erm... Not dry parts... My daughter was suspended from school last week for repeating the filth she heard coming from your bar. Completely inappropriate.
We just had the worst experience ever there. When we got there they said we have a table for us. (2 adults, 3 kidsWe stood there finally the bartender told us we could go sit at the table. we go over about 10 min passes waitresses finally comes to grab our drink order. meanwhile we have a group of people sitting next to us with about 6ish kids went over to the shuffle board table and was banging the pieces against the table, picking up pool sticks like they were shooting people and throwing around some beachball. this went on for about 20min while we waited for the waitresses to come back and take our order. she finally comes to take our order. and I ask if they have a kids menu, she says no but they have chicken tenders etc. fine so we get the kids a chicken tender and hamburger from the adult menu 🙄food comes out after a long while. Our drinks were NEVER refilled. in fact I walked up to the drink station were the one waitresses and manager were standing and said can I get a refill. the manager turns to me and says sure and points for me to refill my drink. 🤯 well bill comes its $90. which was a shock considering the food was terrible. but we go to pay hand her my card she wlgo back to the register and comes back with a different bill of $107. she said sorry I didnt know the gratuity wasnt added in already it gets automatically added for groups of 6 or more. (we had 5I tell the lady we only have a group of 5 not 6 and she shrugs her shoulders at me.By far WORST experience I WOULD NEVER recommend this restaurant.
This place is awesome. Try the 2nd or 3rd outdoor seating… beautiful views of the harbor side. They have a great selection of beers including a fair amount of german and domestic. Food is on the pricy-er side but thats to be expected. Go on $4 stein night for some big ol steiners
Always great fun! We love the food, the bartenders, and the view at the third floor deck is fabulous. We love to watch the cruise ships from there.
It was going for a beer haul and other than the 2nd floor, it has that feel. Food was good especially if you are looking for a break from seafood. The beer selection is awesome, be adventurous in your selection. Close to the Strand and the docs, its a great location for lunch and dinner.
Its a true pet friendly place. The service was good and the food as well, they also care about my dog bringing him a cold glass of water that they poured into one of the dog bowls that they have around patio. We had a nice view from the second floor.
Food was pretty good, pricey especially considering the lackluster service. It took forever to get my drink and for the waitress to come back to take our order. Watched our food sit in the window for 10 minutes or longer before it was brought out, my wifes order was wrong too and no they were not busy. Worst thing was the bartender did not wash their hands after using the restroom and proceeded to make drinks and handle peoples glasses. Pretty gross. I can say we tried it but will more than likely not come back considering all the other awesome places to eat here
The pic is so we could remember where we parked. Excellent pretzels with gouda cheese sauce and cold beer. Servers were great.
View from top bar lovely but some of their tables need replacing!
Horrible customer service. After waiting an hour for our order to be delivered they brought us very very wrong order. I don’t really understand how can someone messed up that bad instead of Original Brats they gave us Beef stroganoff and refused to provide us with an original order that has been placed. Even though we didn’t mind to wait on our original order. So basically we left with two options to go hungry or take what is there. Beef stroganoff tasted terrible had no flavor was very slimy and greasy. They had the chance to make the things right but they chose not to.
We had our wedding reception on the first floor of Stuttgarden. It is the perfect venue for a group of guests looking to have a great time. The atmosphere is just right. No stuffy banquet halls!! It has a big patio with private entrance just for us. The area is secluded from the regular public plus the kitchen and bar are closeby so service, food, drinks are super easy. There is shuffleboard, pool, and darts in the back so the kids were totally entertained the whole time. I’m surprised they are not more on the venue circuit. They definitely should be!! I dropped items off earlier that day and Michelle the manager set everything up for me. Place was festive and beautiful when we arrived. She even helped corale people when they needed it AND to our surprise created a first drink for us, the pink flamingo which everyone loved. We had our first dance on the big patio with sparklers. The DJ announced us when we arrived and played our first song. He even announced us when we went upstairs to party after! Michelle was super accommodating, laid back, and easy to work with. Just what a bride needs. The food was fresh and delicious. I sent her a message before people started heading over and even though they took longer than expected she was ready for them!! She made the perfect suggestions for appetizers. I really did not thank her enough. Thank you Michelle!! Everyone had an awesome time. Stuttgarden will always be very special to us!
We seen Stuttgarden on our first day and didnt stop in, decided to try it for lunch on our last day in Galveston. Glad we did. You know you found the right place when the local PD is dining there.Ive worked with Germans for years in the auto industry, and have been to many German restaurants, both real and themed. Id say this is a themed bar/restaurant and not a genuine German restaurant, but its excellent none the less. The brats are definitely the best Ive ever had! Service was friendly and efficient. Helpful and informative. If you get the German potato salad, get it warm. This is GENUINE German style and cold does not do it justice.Id rate this as a must stop at when in Galveston!
Huge beer selection, Great pretzels and Irish nachos. 3 stories each with their own feel. 3rd story is a roof top bar with a great view. Its a common stop for us on date night.
Stopped by with some friends while we were looking for someplace for drinks after dinner. The third floor patio is great for a relaxing time, even though they could use some slightly more comfortable seating. Beer selection is outstanding and others enjoyed the mixed drinks as well.
Very good. Had a pretzel--a meal in itself. Then we got a French Dip and Beef Stroganoff. All was really good. We happened to go on Trivia Night, so that was fun too.
Really cool German pub/restaurant! The pretzel and the shepherds pie were both delicious (especially the cheese served with the pretzel). Great selection of German beer as well as an even larger selection of local and more craft beer on tap. Mixed drinks were tasty and my wife loved the key lime martini (tastes like a key lime pie in a glass). Our server, Casey was friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back with more people to play some shuffleboard.
Good drinks, great happy hour deals. The food is alright but not very good as far as "authentic german food" goes. Beer selection is amazing and the patios are very nice and dog friendly!
Food was great and the beer selection was excellent. Definitely reminds me of the same place that used to be in Kemah. Im giving this place 3 stars because our waitress really ruined the visit for us. She seemed majorly irritated to have to serve us and barely came to our table. When our food arrived without what it was supposed to have, we had to hunt her down to get the additional items. By the time she got them to us, we were 80% done with the food. Not what we expected from a waitress and we showed our dissatisfaction with her tip. Do better, management.
We were there early 3ish in February so upper level was closed which was fine. We sat at the bar and had bloodies beers and I had a long Island for a finisher. Bartender was a ball of fun. She was very attentive. I ordered the pretzel and smoked gouda fondu DAMN good!! Im going home to make that!!! THEN I had roast beef sliders and my husband had a burger. You guys got it goin on! Delicious food and drinks with a friendly bartender...made it an awesome stop! Thanks for a great late lunch!
Over all cool place. 3rd floor is 21 and up and has some cool views. The food was pretty good. The pretzel was good and crisp but soft in the center. Our sausages were all good but 1 got really burnt so was hard to enjoy it.Over all will return!
My husband and I decided to try the food at Stuttgarden Tavern in Galveston today. I have to say we were slightly disappointed appointed. We started with a pretzel and cheese appetizer and a flight of beer. Because only the first floor was open they limited their beer to 10 choices and not alot of different German choices. Then we ordered our main course. We always order different things so we can try each others. I was abit surprised there werent that many German main dishes to choose from. He went with the Jager Schnitzel and I chose the fish and chips. My husband requested spatzel as his side and the writer had never heard of it so he went with potato salad. Overall he was not impressed with his meal. My fish and chips were also disappointing. I think they fried my fish at too high a temperature so instead of flaky cod it was kinda mushy. Also it came with potato chips instead of traditional fries. I gave it a 3 because of its location and activities and the waiter was nice.
Stopped in yesterday with the wife for a bite and a drink, and didn’t want to leave. Found my new spot in Galveston on the strand. Never left the 1st floor, but made new friends, had some real good food, and one of the best Bloody Mary’s I’ve had in Texas. Can’t wait for my next visit!
My husband and I came here for drinks and enjoyed our experience. We sat on the third floor balcony and had a great view of the sunset. We didn’t eat any food, so we can’t recommend that. However, we would recommend coming here for drinks with a view!
We went during the Dickens on the Strand festival and they were understaffed. The service was courteous and the food was good but it took an hour to get our food in the early afternoon. Great balcony and scenic views.
Today we were attending the Dickens on the strand, and thought we would try this place. Surprisingly it was dead. When we walked in we were told to go ahead and seat ourselves. It appeared we were going to get great service and the menu looked promising. But we found out real quick this assumption was wrong and it soon all went down hill. Most the food was meh, the server at first told us she wasn’t busy but had family in the restaurant on a different level. All but my wife’s food came out on time and was ok. It took a while to get things like condiment and utensils. The cook brought most of the order out and left. We asked for catsup and hot sauce .. but didn’t get them for a good 10-15 mins after the food hit the table. We actually had to go track down the catsup. We never did get any hot sauce.I do have to say, once my wife’s food actually did arrive it was the best looking plate. Unfortunately I didn’t capture a picture of her plate.Due to the lack of attention from the server and the over all quality of the food. We are likely never going to come back.
Ate on the first floor (only one openso beer selection was limited. Our waitress wasn’t the best, didn’t seem like she cared about us or anything much really, and didn’t know the menu well. Food was absolutely amazing, had a cheese brat D-man style and man had the jaeger schnitzel. Beer was good but the one I wanted was flat. Owner came in for trivia night and he was a very nice man! Still a great and unique experience.Gave off some “college town” vibes.
Great venue, clean and friendly service with delicious food. The shrimp kisses are amazing as well as the brat selection. Definitely try the brat with flat Tony topping! Beers and good times for dayssss!
This place is awesome, and the best part they support our front line and first responders men and women in uniform by comping their meals!!!The Irish nachos are great, staff is awesome! Flights are always good!I love this place! Thank y’all for all you doY’all need to go support this place!
My husband and I used to always go to the old Stuttgarden location and sit out with people and their pups watching games on the TVs outside listening to music. We seldom sat inside. We were kind of sad whenever we heard that they werent going to be at that location anymore. Its been a while since weve been back to Galveston so on this trip, we made sure to stop by the new location. Feels like its located in the heart of the strand and its great. It was roomy, there was lots of seating, lots of room to space out between people. There are three levels to the place. We only saw the first two this time, we didnt go up to the third one as it was closed. The environments really cool, it still feels a lot like the original atmosphere. The waitress we had was great very friendly, personable, accommodating. She knew the menu and the food well and was able to help us not over order cuz we each ordered a bratwurst sampler (its your choice of three original bratwursts with spicy House made mustard, sauerkraut, and German coleslaw ). She advised us that they were really large and that we might want to just split one order - so we did and they were huge, each sausage was about the size of two party time links so the plate was the equivalent of six links. We cut each in half and we shared the sauerkraut. With the sausages, it was the original series we got one original, one smoked Gouda and one hot jalapeno. They were all good I think the original was my favorite followed by the smoked Gouda and then the jalapeno and my husband said it was hard to choose a favorite they really were all good. We also had some Michelob ultras which we havent drunk a lot of. It was a was good basic beer - its a little lower in carbs and a little lighter in calories and I guess when youre eating a whole plate of sausage thats probably a good idea 😆. After that big meal, we walked around downtown so that we could walk off some of the sausages and we looked around and just kind of went and popped into shops. All in all a really good lunch and Im glad that the environment is still good cuz Ill be more likely to go again.
First of all... Try this place!!! We loved it the mac and cheese balls were fantastic! I had the Irish nachos which were very good. Also its not as expensive as some of the other places in the area and the atmosphere was good the beer was cold I will for sure go back
We had such an amazing time! After a long hot day on the beach, cold drinks and great food were just what we needed! Everyone was so wonderful to us, and the food was amazing! I love the classical German fare, and the option to southernize it with BBQ brisket and cracklin. The beer was traditional and frosty cold, and even the mixed drinks were perfect. We cant wait to come back every time we visit!
2 floors of great German food. Clean bathrooms. A lot of fun.. good beers. The biggest brats that overflow our plates. Pic inc.
First time visiting. Food was tasty and amazing. We had shepherds pie, beef stroganoff, Jaeger pork schnitzel, Mac n cheese, nacos, and German bier. Best experience. You must try. Super nice waitress. Thank you!
I absolutely LOVED Stuttgarden! The service was great, super friendly & the bartender, Charles was the bomb! Loved chatting with him. They had an amazing beer list, like impressive. Im not one to drink the usual standards you can find anywhere. So having such a large selection of local taps & imports was appreciated. Ill definitely come back. The food was really good. I wasnt a big fan of the style of brat I ordered, but the bun and size of the brat compensated for that.I just wish we had Stuttgarden back home in Colorado.
The philly brat is delicious! Theres a huge beer selection on tap. Very inviting atmosphere. The venue has a cool set up. There is a large outdoor bar and patio area on third floor overlooking the harbor. Our bartender was friendly and attentive.Overall great meal and fun location. We had a great time.
The burger I ordered (traditional burgerwas very filling! Only thing I didnt like was each item you add is $1.. so I added avocado/ bacon/ cheese. It becomes a pricey burger quickly. The punch was delicious and sweet. I ordered a spicy brat as an appetizer. It had great flavor but was a little dry. The atmosphere was laid back and every person I encountered from the staff was friendly. I enjoyed my impromptu visit here today.
The best brat I’ve ever had! Seriously... the philly brat is delicious! Home cut fries, real German potato salad...and those sauerkraut balls are fried puffs of oh so good. There’s a huge beer selection on tap. Very inviting atmosphere. The venue has a cool set up. The gentleman on the first floor escorted us upstairs with a full bar area and a beer hall style seating area. There is a large outdoor bar and patio area on third floor overlooking the harbor. Our bartender was friendly and attentive. We are only going to be in the Galveston area a couple more months... we will definitely be back before we head out of town.
