Studebaker Brewing Co. - Brewery in South Bend, United States
Loved it. Ate at the bar on the second floor. Can choose anything from both the fine dining and pub menus. Salmon is excellent. Get the peanut butter hefeweisen!
We decided to have lunch on Saturday afternoon there. The food was underwhelming, the water they served us had a very bad taste so we decided to ask for a bottled water. The wait staff was indifferent. Overall, a very disappointing experience.
Awesome place! Food and beer was good!
Beer was good. Milk stout was quite nice, American pale ale too. Mead hybrid was interesting in a very good way. Yes, bartender was amazing but the building and ambiance were off the chart. Old mansion from 1870’s? Very, very cool. It’s a must stop if you’re in South Bend. The craftsmanship alone makes this worth a visit. Multi tiered building with many rooms and fireplaces. A architectural gem.
Usually local breweries are in old warehouses or something. This place is in the founder of Studenakers mansion built in the 1800s. 30 some rooms. They have preserved as much as the could over the years. There is a lot of very nice architecture and detail in the place. There is also a restaurant, which I did not try. We sampled 3 different beers and they were all pretty good.
Very unique place in a giant old mansion. Avanti Amber Ale was great.
Ate Tippacanoe, it was very good.
It was very busy when we arrived, but Ramon took super care of us..
Lovely place, good food, and great beer 🍺
Very cool place! The history is really interesting, well worth a wonder around and look at everything. Their beer was fresh and a good variety! Their food was really good and worth the price. Bartenders were informative and will to give history on the building!
We always have a great time here! Great food, wonderful beer on tap and always cold!
Great beer, food, service, and unique atmosphere! One of our favorite date night spots!
When you go to the Tippecanoe Place, you expect things to be done correctly. There were at least three of our eight meals that were not done in the way we asked. The onion soup and the prime rib which are supposed to be house specialties were disappointing.
This is such a neat place to hang out and throw back a couple pints. We haven’t tried the food yet, but the beer is always delicious. Ryan knows his stuff and it shows.
Really neat venue. Very hard to realize there is a brewery in there. Very decent beers.
Very nice place, pricey and only a few beer flavors.
Easily the best beer in Michiana. By a very long shot. Burgers....gotta work on. But that brew....😳
Beer was excellent food not so great
Great place. Beautiful architecture! Beer was awesome! Erica, our bartender was great! Food was good too.
I stopped by here for lunch and had a good experience. The beer was all quite good, but I found the Cranberry Orange Wheat to be my personal favorite. The French onion soup was wonderfully rich, and I was also pleasantly surprised at the caesar salad. The coolest thing, still, was the location; this brewery is on the second floor of the old Studebaker mansion, and the workmanship in the building is really phenomenal to behold.
Cool place. Good beer and good food. Id eat my own foot if you covered it in this places beer cheese.
good beer and good food. Atmosphere was old school - overall scrumdiddlyumptious
Good ambiente but I prefer my steak smoked and more flavorful. Beers are very nice though
Excellent food, service, and beer!
Great atmosphere.... Yummy drinks!! Love that you can order from either the bar menu or the restaurant menu!! 😋
Friendly staff and Brewer. Beer is great, my favorite it the red raptor soursaurus. And a really cool building build in 1887!
Fantastic! Amazing food! Great beer! I recommend the Rocke Stout!!
Great food & wines. Flourless chocolate torte was exquisite.
Thank you for hosting our last minute get together tonight 11/14/20. The staff was amazing and gave us a room for our party of 10. Our server was amazing, the food was great as were the beers and drinks. Thank you again for a great experience.
We had a fantastic dinner here. Robert, our server, was attentive, kind, and helpful, and the food was hot and fresh. The beer on tap was delicious as well, all for a great price. Its all in a historic mansion thats been maintained and restored, and we cant wait to go back.
Manager very rude would not honor Groupon core policy, only 1 other customer at a busy time, we must not be the only ones treated like this.
Had a great meal! Started with the Nawlins Creole Shrimp best we’ve ever had. Then we shared the Prime Rib sandwich with homemade fries! Delicious! Paired well with their Pseudo Cerveza.
This is a must visit brewery and home. The brewery is on the second floor of the Studebaker mansion. I had a flight and thought each choice was excellent. I was very impressed with their beer. The service was top notch. While there you are able to tour the 4 story 1885 mansion, all 4 floors. There is a restaurant in the mansion also. I would highly recommend a visit to this brewery.
Slow service and one of the few breweries where you cannot bring your kids
My wife and I both had separate flights, and we sampled a total 8 beers. All were excellent, description were on point. We also had the steak bites appetizer, it was also excellent. First experience here was excellent.
Excellent beer, great venue! I read on "Indiana on Tap" that the beer had significantly improved recently - this was my first visit so I cant attest to this, but it was certainly excellent this time round.
Found a fantastic deal on Groupon and decided to try this local brewery. Located in the upper level of the old Studebaker mansion, I was worried it would be a little to fancy for a jeans and t-shirt kind of visit, but I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. The atmosphere, while located in an absolutely gorgeous mansion, is casual and quiet. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful, and the food was reasonably priced, with a nice selection of pub grub, flat breads, and sandwiches. We had some very good loaded potato skins and a beer flight. Each beer was fantastic! The Imperial Birthday Stout (to celebrate their first anniversarydeserves special mention. We sampled the Nitro version and WOW, was it good. Each other beer we sampled was also quite good - crisp IPAs, smooth cream ale, and a perfectly spiced sweet potato brew. With fantastic beer, good food, a beautiful location, (and did I mention a decent wine list?), we will definitely be coming back. I would highly recommend you give it a try. And, if local history is your thing, see if you can stop by for one of the tours, thats my next adventure!
Been here twice. Beers are pretty good and prices are fair. Had prime rib sandwich both times and it was well prepared and very tasty. Menu could have a little more variety. The last trip had a fella playing guitar (Kody Bryantand singing. He was great and really added to our experience. Well be back. Need more choices on menu to get the 5th star. Service was a little slow and the bartender did not acknowledge us when we first set down. He was busy but at least he should have said hi or Ill be with you soon.
Jason attentive to our needs even though he was very very busy. Food was excellent nice to have onion soup done the right way..look forward to visiting again soon. Thanks to radio station for but 1 get 1.. Will definitely be back again......
Hidden gem. Amazing small batch beers, historic location.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Walked in the door, no one to greet or no signs for the bar. A bus boy pointed upstairs when we asked directions. The lady behind bar completely ignored us. Only one group of 3 even in the bar. After sitting at table for 5 minutes with no acknowledgement, we walked out. Not one person working in bar said a word to us.
Great atmosphere and service. Loved the history and the Bartender Jasmine was amazing. Beer was very good. Will try the food next time.
New Brewer!!!!!!! Beers are much better and the atmosphere is still awesome!!!
Great tasting new beers and very friendly bartender! Jason was very knowledgable and friendly. I will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unique atmosphere and good variety of beers.
Really slow service, not a great menu, and food wasn’t great. Seems like Tippancanoe was trying to appeal to the younger generation by creating a “brewery”—you have to do a brewery right.
Beers are pretty bad, and I drink pretty much everything. They taste weird (one is creamed corn?and are flat. Atmosphere is cool though.
Service and ambiance were excellent but the beer selection and taste is just so-so. There are several other microbrews in town that offer much better selection and flavor than this location. If you are visiting South Bend your time and money would be better spent at Bare Hands, Crooked Ewe, South Bend Brew Works, or Evil Czech.
Was my first time being there and enjoyed a nice flight and some delicious brisket tacos. They dont have many beers on tap but the ones that are on arent too bad. Only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because the bartender that was on wasnt to attentive. Granted she did say she will be with me soon (which I was ok with but note it wasnt all too busy at the timeit was what Im guessing was the manager who finally got me my beer flight. All in all I still plan to visit again.
Its ok, small beer selection, beer on the weak side. But to be fair, server was nice, I have high standards when it come to craft beer I am well versed. They are new hopefully they learn and grow.
Good beer and excellent location. Wish they had more just so I could try them all. 4 of their own and one guest tap right now.
