Petite, bright cafe with sidewalk seating offering espresso drinks and sophisticated light bites.
Love this coffee shop. Have been going virtually everyday since it opened.
Best coffee on St Johns Hill. Ive been a longterm customer clucking for my Story coffees for the past 4 years. One question when will you start making your delicious cinnamon buns again?!
Good coffee.. Staff not friendly.
I have been going to Story Coffee for the last six years. I go there everyday for my coffee fix. My morning starts on a good note after I have had their coffee which is so consistent and tastes amazing. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and attentive. The baristas are so well trained and that is why each cup of coffee is always the same. I would highly recommend this coffee shop if you have never tried it before and I can assure you that you will not be disappointed and hopefully become a regular customer😊😊😊
staff are unbelievably rude. saw the short haired waitress staff berate a customer for using a laptop - "look at our signs, sorry can you leave". 😲 Barista just giggled. coffee is OK as bean quality is high (still not Caravan, Clintons or Monmouth goodbut avoid if you can.Edit: just checked comments below and you can see owners response to most of clients is pretty derogatory. Fingers crossed business rates kills this place and a better coffee shop takes its place!
Story Coffee, the epicentre of the local community. Over the past six years I find myself consistently drawn to Storys hatch. Its not only a place for indulgent coffees, succulent toasties and buttery pastries but a hub for comfort in a multitude of ways. The super friendly staff feel like an integral part of my morning routine. Daily conversations with an array of staff members is such a welcoming touch. Always smiling, always happy and always nailing the perfect concoction of oat milk and coffee beans. The owner Sof is a gentleman and makes you feel incredibly valued as a customer. I will always bring my custom in exchange for those teal cups filled with wonderful coffee. Im so proud to see a locally owned business succeed in my community.
The atmosphere was very warm and the staff were very friendly and approachable. The food was also amazing.Would highly recommend
Loved the brunch and the amazing coffee! The staff is friendly and the location is so cute!
I like this place. The food and coffee are excellent. However, what I find annoying is the fact the inside air conditioned area is frequently closed due to staffing issues leaving no where to sit except in an unshaded and very warm area. This actually stops me going here. It would be better if they closed the outside area where fewer people sit and opened the indoor area.
Great coffee made very well. Good range of alternative milks as well which is great to see. Only thing lacking for me is the service, literally done at the window and chatting to customers seems to be a no no.
Was really looking forward to some nice food, only to arrive at 11am and find they only had what was on display which was just some pastries. At present the images on google are misleading, as you can’t get anything. If I had known I wouldn’t have gone there.
Personal experience: worst coffee shop experience ever. Personally, I just don’t get why coffee shops won’t allow outside food, not even a sandwich, not even outside even when I have already ordered coffee, and also, no laptop?? Not even outside?? So you are saying I just can’t have a sandwich from another place while using my laptop on your entire premise?? Coffee is not even that good to match their unreasonable requirements.
my fav coffee in the area.I miss Story Coffee now that I have moved to CrystalPI will see you soon guys!P
First time coming to this coffee shop and will definitely be returning! Staff were friendly and kind, the food and drink itself here was exquisite. Highly recommend if your looking for a nice place to kick back and relax. Overall a lovely experience and look forward to going back.
My latte was takeaway so there was no latte art 😅
The coffee is excellent here, at the moment they still arent seating anyone inside, there are a couple of tables outside. I have always experienced nice service here and the cold brew on a warm day just hits the spot!
Im rating this place based on the service and taste of espresso, so the kind of beans really. On two occasions I was served by two individuals who were super friendly and helping, the service is quick and in the hot day I was thirsty so I asked for tap water to drink and there was no issue about that. The coffee on the other hand , was mix of Brazilian and Ethiopian beans and unfortunately not in my taste. I only drink espresso so I could get the whole flavour and roast , so to me was not good at all, acidic and salty even like. Wont be getting coffee there again Im afraid. Besides place look nice, clean and cozy too. Prices are average too.
Shame that they love arguing a lot, I won’t be drinking their delicious coffee . Also witnessed staff being rude to other customers... When they prepare an order wrong, the manager would come try to persuade you that there isnt much difference with what you have ordered. Seriously? Is it worth losing customers? Coffee is classy, rest is not
Only takeaway at the moment although they do have outdoor seating (Rev. 12.9.20)
Ordered a takeaway sandwich, payed a crazy amount of £8 for this portion size and for it to come out burnt, i was in a rush on my lunch break so i didn’t even have time to check the contents before hand, when I sat down to eat it, I was extremely disapointed and upset that i had wasted my money, didn’t even end up finishing it as nothing met my expectations, didn’t find the customer service very appealing aswell, the employee didn’t seem very friendly either, seemed as if he wanted to just get the job done as quick as possible to get on with his day. I don’t even care if the customer service was bad just give me a sandwich worth the price that i’m paying???
Great coffee and great atmosphere. Came here midday on a sunday and it wasn’t too packed. Lovely staff who took mugs pretty much as soon as we were finished. Great hospitality! Would 10/10 go again :)
Had brunch here and it was absolutely delicious! Really good food and extremely friendly staff! First time I’ve had a chai latte that wasn’t overly sweet. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back soon
Absolutely amazing coffee shop, with the best flat white in South London by a mile! I had the French Toast which was delicious and presented beautifully. The staff are super friendly and efficient. They have a no laptop policy at the weekends, which makes complete sense as they get extremely busy. In terms of cafe design and quality of the coffee offering, this place can not be beaten!
Stopped by for a cappuccino today. Good quality coffee, strong and not too bitter. However, the staff definitely lacked warmth. They kinda made me feel like I was inconveniencing them. This feeling was reinforced by the fact that they have signs on the tables asking that you not use your laptop in the shop. Clearly, they want your business, but dont want you to linger after finishing your coffee.#TabesTravels@TabesTravels
I’ve been going there for years and years - the coffee is fantastic, and always served with a smile. I feel so at home there! You can tell it’s a good place to work because the same staff have been there for ages.I recommend the Bircher muesli (I never get sick of it!which is super delicious and filling. The croissants are also very, very good (better that the french bakery up the road!).It gets busy at the weekends so go early or late if you want brunch. The owner is lovely and has a young daughter so is very solicitous when I come with my baby or toddler. When we’ve chatted in the past, I’ve always been so impressed with the thought and effort that has gone into everything about the place, from the vintage ercol chairs to the sourcing of the ingredients! Can’t recommend enough!
If your looking for good value for money with high quality coffee and food, this is where you should be. We had the scrambled eggs, chicken toastie, a cappuccino and an oat flat white. The coffees were perfect! The toastie tasted amazing, and the chutney that goes with it is just awesome. Will be coming back often!
Coffee perfection- everything about this place is done right, from the minimalist layout, wide open windows Hedone Bakery patries, to the menu in the wall. A lot of thought has gone into everything and everything non essential has been removed. The coffe is consistently amazing, full bodied, with a strong kick and the creamist of milk. I just cannot praise this space enough. The fact that the sister establishment Story Works down the road toward Claphan Junction is just as good is testament to their formula. GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO VISIT HERE.
I agree with the other reviews about customer service- I found the coffee was lovely but the staff were quite standoffish. There is a big sign outside saying wait to be seated and signs on the seats saying the same- even when there were plenty of spare tables. Not the most welcoming! Also a group asked if they could sit somewhere and the staff said no- even though there was no one there and the table wasnt reserved- I think the staff just didnt fancy cleaning that area up afterwards! I think Id rather go somewhere where I feel a bit more welcome.
Great find. Fantastic coffee, and avo on toast done just right 🙌🏼
Best pastrami melt ever. The cheese! OMG! THE CHEESE! Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, simple and efficient. Did I mention the cheese melt?EDIT: prams must be left outside. Well no more business for you then...
Been here twice on a Saturday Morning around 11am for Brunch. Both times its been busy but weve been able to squeeze in somewhere - although it is a little loud because of this. The first visit I had the best French toast Ive ever had the pleasure of eating! It felt so perfectly put together, from the poached pear, the drizzle, the toast its self and the portion size!On my second visit I had their Quinoa Pancakes with Ricotta which were also wonderfully filling and delicious. Only problem was that I found out I wasnt a fan of Ricotta which it was served with (hadnt ever tried it before but took a risk). Wouldnt order them again due to personal preference, unless it could be served with an alternative option such as Mascarpone instead (such as they had with the French Toast with was great!)My partner also had the Avocado and Scrambled eggs which he has said hes yet to find a better version of in London!
Amazing food, well worth the price, stylish shops. Had pastrami and French toast which was amazing.
Excellent coffee selections, sleek modern design and friendly approachable barista in the house.Worth your visit!
the best coffee in London!! having been regular customers for years, I must say this is the only place that maintain its quality. staffs are super friendly. interior is very inviting. Try French toast!!
The cheese toastie is amazing!! Delicious homemade granola
My favourite cafe in London! So lucky to have a fantastic independent near me that serve the best flat white and delicious food. They seem to get a bad rep for laptop rules and no wifi but it makes such a difference to the atmosphere and I can get a seat!
This coffee shop is amazing! Food, coffee and ambiance on point. It’s a great place to visit if you’re looking for a chill escape. I strongly appreciate how this place is designed to be and their commitment to be consistent, not only with the products and service, but also by sticking to their rules (laptop & tablet policy). Because it’s true, this little coffee shop looks so much better when it’s animated by people and conversations.
Positives: nice interior, nice, but a bit overpriced coffee, as in all of London.Negatives: the staff was super rude. I came in willing to sit down and wait for an hour for my yoga class nearby and was asked to leave the table upfront since I opened a tablet (not even a computer). I understand that they dont want people to come sit down and work there (a note for fellow freelancers - do not go there), but given the cafe was empty I found this rude. For sure wont see me again coming and spending money there.
Appalling experience. Apparently the coffee is good, but we wouldnt know. I took a table outside with my friend and her baby and we placed and paid for our order only to immediately be told that they would need to refund our order as there was only one outside chair and they werent prepared to let us use one of their precious wooden stools. There was no attempt made to accommodate us inside or find a suitable seat which I think is disgraceful. This place cares more about its furniture than its customers. I can find good coffee elsewhere and suggest you do too.
Visited on a Wednesday around 11am, place wasn’t packed which was nice. Wonderful location, small space with a nice relaxing atmosphere. Design is excellent. My Cortado was overall good, but not excellent. I do get fussy when it come to my coffee. when prices are on the higher side I feel comfortable with it....(hence why I rated 4/5). they don’t have WiFi here which is a shame. Didn’t try their food, but all signs are promising! I would recommend highly recommend for a casual meeting with a friend or two. Oh and super clean. Nice find!
After paying and wanting to enjoy few relaxing moments, they asked me not to use a laptop! The rules says clearly that I can but there is no wi-fi. Asked for a refund and still waiting for a refund for 20 min as they dont have the password and manager is on the way. Appallingly poor customer experience. Owner came and claimed the transaction was already refunded with no proof. Called my bank who confirmed the no refund but he still arrogantly refused. All for £5.8! Will dispute first thing Monday.
These guys do some really great coffee! :I also appreciate "no computer" policy at normal full sized tables because nowadays coffee shops just tend to turn into remote working facilities, so great policy! Didnt try the food, but looked quite pricey but I guess its the average price tag for the area! Coffee shop itself doesnt have much character, so just 4 stars from me.
Relaxed quiet atmosphere and design, friendly staff. The coffee is exceptional, and looks equally as good. The menu is simplistic and what youd expect, albeit a bit small. The place is brilliant for a quick coffee, however the seating is definitely not intended for long stays, being a mixture of wood benches and stools. Overall an awesome small coffee shop.
Love this little spot. Nice walk through Wandsworth Common to get there. Cosy vibe. Big windows. And most importantly, perfect cuppa joe.
The perfect place to escape from the stresses of my working life and to engage with other members of the community... (and sometimes destroy a piece of the incredible banana cake)!!! ‘‘I don’t see Story Coffee as a workspace or necessarily a venue to conduct business meetings, I see it is a community friendly coffee shop that serves excellent coffee, delicious bites, and a light, airy and warm welcome. Great place, thoroughly recommend it!
A true coffee shop. Great beans served properly. Light-bites and home made cakes make this neighbourhood local worthy of a detour. The benches are great for a quick coffee and a snack and give the corner unit a bright modern vibe.
The coffee is fantastic! I think they serve some of the best coffee in London. The food is also delicious, and very high quality (reflected by the price). Its often busy and there arent many seats, but the no lap-top policy means that seats arent taken for hours by people working, which is great! Im updating this review to say the wait for a seat isnt actually that long even when its busy! Take away is always quick.
A bright and inviting coffeeshop serving Square Mile coffee - it was a touch overextracted though giving a very bitter taste. Nevertheless, it gave me a much needed caffeine kick as I chilled out on a elegantly designed Scandi-style wooden bench. I ordered the carrot cake which is hands down the best carrot cake ever to touch my lips. Now I have dreams of that creamy frosting, moist sponge and delectable flavours. I was served by Benjamina from Bake Off - I suspect the heavenly carrot cake was one of her creations. Hats off to the baker. Hats off.
Lovely little place just few min walk from clapham junction (make a habit of visiting if waiting for longer than 10min for a train!)Great coffee using square miles red brick and various guest filters (well made).
Food is good but over salty and slightly over priced. Coffee is tasty and cheap. Friendly staff. --no internet or charging spot--
