A 0.3-mile walk from Stirling Castle, this budget hostel is also 0.4 miles from Stirling train station and 2.4 miles from the National Wallace Monument. There are bare-bones dorms, plus private rooms with en suite bathrooms. All have complimentary WiFi.Amenities include a kitchen, a dining room and 2 lounge areas, plus limited free parking. Meals are available (fee).
Thoroughly enjoyed the hostel . Staff were helpful when needed and friendly all the time. Everything you need really and loved stirling. Such history. Xx
Just came back to the hostel right before midnight and they locked all the doors, without having said anything about a curfew. Its a horrible situation to be stuck out in the middle of the night with nowhere to go, and irresponsible of the hostel to put someone in that situation :( it happened to 3 of us this night
It’s very ascetic, but if a bed (and ensuite shower/bathroomis all you need the place does its job. The location is excellent as well, and the building itself is historical. You get what you pay for, which isn’t much! There’s not much to choose from in Stirling and this was a decent place, so I can recommend.
Nice place to stay, rooms were decent and the showers nice and hot. The self catering area was nicely stocked, most of the stuff was clean, and the staff friendly. Nice location in Stirling, and very close to the castle. Would definitely recommend!
Room and facilities excellent. However the amount of litter around the grounds of the hotel was very disappointing, wouldnt take long to do a litter pick!
I booked a room in advance, called to confirm the day before and I was told yeah everything is all good. Turned up and it was under a different first name, I was put in a dorm and charged for a private room and all the private rooms had now been sold/occupied.That being said, the woman the was on the desk was amazing, got me sorted into an alternative room despite them being fully booked/sold out.
Great location for the castle and train station for other cities. Rooms are basic and clean. Showers are good and well kept. Kitchen needs a bit more regular attention to keep it clean and bins empty. Some noise from sqweeky floorboards and banging doors but generally its quiet. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Nice hotel and good location. Unfortunately, the downside is the price of breakfast, and exactly what is available in it. Unfortunately, the heating did not work, so the nights were sometimes cool.
A few problems with electronic access keys, but otherwise great weekend, plenty space for our group, self catering kitchen needs instructions for ovens.
Liars- promised me a room for myself but in the end I was having to share a room with strangers.Never stay at a youth hostel, stay at a B&B instead
I had a spacious room for two, great location between the castle and eating options in the city centre. Helpful staff.
Brilliant. Staff brilliant. If you cant manage the him to get there. Take the bus it stops right at hostel door.
Five star for location but the heating was on for some reason in the middle of summer. Even with heating off the room was stifling. Please open self catering facilities and just clean more
Fantastic great rooms with shower, lounge and kitchen laundry great service too, adorable accommodation.👍😏☀️
Stayed here 2013 and 2017. Easy walk from the rail station. Kitchen well appointed. Room and bath very basic, but adequate. Short walk to Stirling Castle. Would stay again.
Great location. Staff nice and gave us better room with excellent view (see picture). Check in is kind of late and bed not comfy. Winter blanket on bed would be good to sleep on for cushion on hard mattess then just bring your own top blanket.
Nice hostel for the price- en-suite bathrooms which were amazing! Had a room across from the graveyard which was cool. Only cons were the almost non-existent WiFi which only worked in the reception area.
Nice stay. Great location next to the castle and old jail. Very close to the town centre.
Epic venue and converted very well. Staff very friendly. Only downside was the room was a bit warm and windows only open a small amount.
Lovely staff, warm welcome, comfortable stay very convenient location just below the castle.
Outstanding facilities in a relaxing atmosphere. Ideal setting for walking / visiting Stirling Castle overing a panoramic view out over Stirling
Only good thing was the Canadian. Id describe this place like a prizon. Just like the one next door. Beds were too short. TV didnt work. And I burnt my pizza. Two stars
Perfect location. Walking distance from any main attraction. The buidling itself is gorgeous. Very special. The room is spacious, very comfy bed. Good shower. Good ambience. Nice people. It has free parking space if needed. Totally recommend it.
Stayed for one night as a couple. There are two reasons as to why I am giving this hostel 2 stars, rather than 1:1. Friendly, accommodating staff2. Some guests may enjoy the aspects of the hostel that we had an issue withThis being said, unfortunately our experience was not so positive. We rented an en-suite room. The very small car park was full when we arrived and we had to pay for street parking – while the hostel advertises free parking, it is not guaranteed that guests will get a spot. The first thing we noticed when we came into the room was the austere atmosphere. Our window faced a graveyard. I’m not superstitious, but because the rooms are already so cold and barren, this did not feel welcoming. For some, this may be either a benefit or more of an issue. The beds (two twinswere very hard and uncomfortable. It was hard to manage the temperature at night, because each guest is given a heavy duvet, which makes the sleeper very hot but without which it’s too cold. The shower temperature was not adjustable and the shower went off after a few seconds of use. I understand that this is meant to save water, but again it added to the discomfort of our stay. When we stripped the beds, we noticed bloodstains on both of our mattresses which did not look as if they had been cleaned thoroughly.Any one of these elements (uncomfortable beds, graveyard outside, barren room, blood on mattress, etc.by itself would have been manageable. Together, they added up to an experience that just wasn’t pleasant. The hotel was very quiet and was in a great location for sight-seeing. I also understand that it is historic, so some elements (view of graveyard, for examplecannot be avoided. However, I think the establishment could do more to provide comfort for the guests.
Clean, good breakfast, the shower was a little under pressure but did the job. Would definitely stay again!
It serves as a place to sleep. Nice atmosphere. Lack of plugs in room and everywhere else (2 plugs behind a bed for 4 people). The shower comes directly into the room with just a curtain so wets the floor of the room and steams it up. Beds were not the most comfortable but sleepable. Generous kitchen, social area and lounge.
Brilliant Hostel to stay Inn , extremely clean wow , Breakfast very tasty better than any Hotel , Rooms and Beds are very comfortable and all with own shower and Toilet , but most of all the Staff , the staff are very friendly and helpful , anyone coming to Stirling , stay here , also only 300 yards from the castle but a bit more to walk to city centre maybe 1.2 miles and yet every city has a city centre but not every city has a castle so there we are just brilliant .and most beautiful views. I will definitely come back for sure . kind regards Mike
Its a very good choice. Standard hostel facilities (bed, bathroom, kitchen, shower). Reasonable prices both for single beds and for private rooms. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that there wasnt soap in the shower room.
Great hostel, very close to downtown Stirling. The staff was very helpful and gave us a private room for 5 people. Large kitchen and many fridges to store your food. Free parking was a great plus for us. Would love to visit again soon.
Large youth hostel situated in the historic oid town. Most rooms are dorms sleeping 4 to 6. Breakfasts and packed lunches can be ordered and paid for the night before. Cant recommend the cooked breakfast or packed lunches, but the continental breakfast is good. You are better off buying your own food and using the kitchen facilities provided. The facade of the hostel is the remains of an 18th century church that was part of a schism from the Church of Scotland. Its leader, Ebeneezer Erskine, is buried beneath the neo classical folly that stands in front of the hostel.
Great hostel in a lovely part of town just down from the castle. Excellent facilities. They do catering, if you prefer that.
Great place clean friendly staff and visitors from all over the world perfect location for all destinations in central Scotland and the Highlands and Fife areas and day visits to edinburgh and Glasgow.
The hostel was in very good condition and very clean. The Kitchen lacks on equipment though. Havent tried breakfast so I cant say anything about that. Location is very good for visiting the castle and exploring the old town. Little insider tipp: The Wetherspoon restaurant near the Hostel is very good an quite cheap.
Very friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in a private twin room which was comfortable and clean. Well equipped, clean kitchen. Fantastic location, close to castle. We will be back.
Its a place for you to sleep, have a shower and eat, thats all! My room looked awfully depressive and kitchen was like high school canteen. I dont intend to ever go back, the only problem is that there arent many options in the area and this one is indeed very central.
Stayed here last night and Friday night. Really nice place, great staff and breakfast. Only thing is the walls are thin so you can hear everything. I also was woken at 7:00 by someone knocking on my door looking for someone else and then at 6:45 this morning bu children running about the hall. Also, beware that you have to walk up a large hill to get to the place so I would recommend getting a taxi.Other than that this place is great and is very close to the castle and the shops. And if you dont want to go out then you can play board games in the games room on the 1st floor. Thanks for the awesome stay!
One of my favourite youth hostels with well equipped ensuite rooms. Members kitchen, dining with TV corner in the evenings. There is also a common room. Views are great and the building is a lovely old church. The bus stops outside and the hostel is close to the castle.
Lovely, well equipped Youth Hostel. Friendly staff and great breakfasts! The Youth Hostel is situated close to Castle and Town Centre and easy transport links to other major monuments and attractions such as the Wallace Monument.
The people at the reception were really nice and the location is fab but I had an aweful night. The room was so smelly I almost were unable to sleep. Maybe the other guys were farting or what but in any case it was disgusting.
clean and safe. nice staff and lovely members kitchen. not super swanky but still good value especially for groups.
Stayed with a big group was more then accommodating. Great clean rooms and eating areas. Quick walk to the pubs and shops.
Nice staff and essential rooms (soap is not provided). Wi-fi signal is weak within the rooms. The breakfast is good enough even though is not great. Good price and good position (just 10 mimutes walk from the railway station)
Lovely hostel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location. Pleasant rooms.
Enjoyed my stay here, couldnt have been more central and I managed to get one of the car spaces out front. Would have been 5 stars (in this price rangeif the floor boards werent so squeaky!
Comfy beds and nice building, staff were helpful and pleasant. Only gripe was the metal stair case as people went up and down it but wasnt too bothersome and would stay again as missed some of the attractions I wanted to see.
The room was very cold as room heater was not working. The size of the duet is too small, not large enough to cover an adult fully. The place looked very unhygienic. Will avoid it in future.
Its a good youth hostel. The rooms are clean, the facilities are sufficient, it is unreasonable to expect more from a youth hostel, definitely one of the best hostels Ive stayed in
Ive stayed in hotels far less appealing than this fantastic hostel, and for a lot more money. Great location, clean rooms, helpful staff. Thank you.
As part of a group of Higland dancers from Canada, we spent our 1st 5 days in Scotland at the Stirling Youth hostel. It could not have been better and were were treated exceptionaly. By the second day John the cook knew all of us by name and stuffed us full of haggis and "highland chicken" YUMMMY.We were spoilt for the rest of the trip! Thankyou to the staff for making us feel like family!
