Stir Restaurant - New American restaurant in Philadelphia, United States
Wow!!!! The food was phenomenal! We stopped in for a bite while touring the museum and could not be more impressed. The flavors were out of this world.everything from the grilled chicken to the vanilla mousse and espresso gelato, wowwww!
Marisa was rude - took way too long to greet us and give us our drinks. Her attitude was cold and she even sighed in my face. The manager was classy and nice which saved the customer service experience. Please check that your servers don’t discriminate. I even heard another server ask 2 white guys if sitting between two Asian parties if “they’re okay”. Strange experience.
Very friendly staff. Dined here twice while visiting the museum. The rolls they give you are out of this world. Had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries on the first visit. The second visit I had the chopped salad with chicken. Both meals were very good and very fresh. Definitely worth checking this place out.
I had lunch with a friend February 7 prior to visiting the Jaspar Jons exhibit. I ordered a salad with Salmon added to it. It came and the salmonLooked over cooked gray. It was almost tough. .I tried it and it had an odd taste. I thought well maybe this is how they seasoned it. I ate too much of this fish. With in an hour, I felt hot dizzy and nauseated. I made it to my train for my trip to Manhattan. Half way home, I became violently ill.. For a week I was bedridden with food poisoning. I have never been sicker. Whatever was wrong with the salmon, it was not subtle like EColi might be. It should have been totally obvious to those who fixed it. I was in denial trusting it must be ok. My error. I hope Stir will look into there practices for storing their fish.
Restaurant in the Philadelphia Art Museum.(You must have tickets to be in the museum. Also, they require a reservation which was easy and we made right when we got there.)We opted for the served, sit down restaurant over the museum Cafe. Totally worth it. The bread is…holy moley (eat it). The burger was honestly FANTASTIC. The Stir Chopped salad was mediocre so maybe add a protein to zhuzh up the salad. At the end, they surprise you with a pine nut almond cookie which was chewy and delectable. Can’t wait to come back just to eat here.
Very good lunch. I was impressed by the quality of my dish (Herb Roasted Salmon). The complimentary pine nut cookie at the end was a nice touch. The espresso was good too. Stir is a keeper.
Had a lovely lunch at Stir today. Each plate of food was delicious - beginning with the Parkerhouse rolls and ending with the Pine Nut topped cookies. The wait staff were attentive, but unobtrusive. It was the perfect way to begin a visit to the Art Museum. We will be back.
While visiting in Philadelphia Art museum earlier this year, I stopped by the restaurant to get a quick bite, but ended up staying about an hour and a half. NOT because the service was terrible, but because it was so enjoyable. Very pleasant atmosphere, food was very good and service was excellent.
For a museum restaurant, better than average. A bit more crowded than its predecessor at the Art Museum, but convenient, reasonably priced, and a nice wine list. Open Table reservations advised at lunch time on weekends. We will definitely go again.
Pretty
I ordered their burger and it was unexpectedly good for a cafe in the museum! Their service was also good.
A sit-down restaurant in the Philadelphia Museum of Art with excellent food and very friendly staff. A great alternative to the cafeteria.
Because of how difficult it is to get to and because its only really appropriate for a fancy lunch date, but not a casual lunch with friends or colleagues, I want to give it four stars, but its such a pleasure to have a homegrown Philadelphian back home; Mark Tropea, youve been missed! The food was amazing, and well be back BUT as I alluded to, its a pain to get to the restaurant (you have to go around the back of the art museum if youre there just for the restaurant), and its a bit too fancy to become a regular spot (three courses+wine/cocktails=a pretty pricey and heavy lunch), but for the food, Ill be back. For Mark Tropea, Ill be back. The noise was not a problem, at all.
When I found out about this restaurant in the art museum, I immediately assumed that it was going to be overpriced and mediocre. A tourist trap, right? But I went for Sunday brunch anyway.I was completely wrong and their food and service blew me away. Their biscuits are crispy but not dry, with delicious herbal flavors that make them special. The crab cakes were entirely made of crab meat—not filled with bunch of other things. The texture was wonderful as well. The pancakes were so soft and perfectly cooked as well. With big marble tables, comfortable chairs, and fantastic architecture, my Sunday brunch was a wonderful experience. The plates and cups, the plating, presentation, were all really great and fitting for the museum. While not the cheapest place, this place is a great bang for your buck. And just delicious.
I love this place. The staff is exceptionally friendly and courteous and the food and atmosphere are wonderful.
Excellent.Food 5star.Service 5star.Decor 4star.Overall experience 5star.
Another wonderful restaurant in Philadelphia. Stir- at the Philadelphia Art Museum was worth the wait. The beautiful space, designed by Frank Gehry, was not the only treat. The lunch was wonderful. I had the parsnip pear soup which I loved. My husband had the crab cake which was just about 100% crab and very little filler. And our server gave us cookies when we were done. Its a perfect place to grab a bite.
The remodeled and revamped Stir is a nice surprise nestled within the Museum. The decor is a modern, artist chic (appropriatelythat is reminiscent of the Museums own architectural collections in the floors above. Stirs is only open during lunch and on Sunday serves brunch until close; we had the quiche, the avocado tartine, and the blueberry pancakes. We were impressed. The pancakes were light an fluffy, sweet without being overwhelming, the quiche savory, and tartine crispy without being crunchy. We will absolutely be back.Note that the restaurant requires Museum admission. Do both for a perfect midday date.
The food is phenomenal! Went for lunch and enjoyed each and every one of items we ordered.Foie Gras, with perfectly brûléed figs and seared to perfection. Chop salad, layered with texture, farm fresh veggies and balanced flavors. Quarter chicken with perfectly crisp skin and its own jus melted into a perfectly seasoned sauce to compliment the halved haricot vert. The crab cakes were also spot on, chunked crab and slightly seared with the perfect balance of seasoning. This is a MUST try restaurant of the culinary group, Constellation (formerly STARR catering group).5 stars.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art announced the opening of Stir Restaurant, a brand-new dining establishment designed by architect Frank Gehry, part of the Museum’s facilities master plan. The restaurant is managed by Philadelphias Constellation Culinary Group and will open on October 16, 2018.
