This is a salty review, which may be because I am by the ocean but you couldn’t tell that from the quality of the sushi. Save your money go to a more “mom and pop” type place. Overall, my expectations left more to be desired.

During a few hours of serious sushi work, a buddy and I wound up ordering three crunchy rolls. Theyre delightful, to say the least. Throw in some lobster dynamite and good sake... Wonderful dinner with a view of beauty.

Best restaurant we tried in Kauai. Sashimi, tempura and miso were good, Neri and uromaki rolls had good combinations and were well done. If anything menu was not very large. Expensive, as all in this part of the island

We loved eating at Stevenson’s Library! It is a very classy place to eat. The sushi is fresh which is always nice! The only reason I didn’t rate 5 stars is because of the price. However, it is at a resort so the prices are higher.

Oh my sushi. This restaurant is absolutely amazing. Hamachi Carpaccio is a great way to start along with a signature cocktail. I tried the war & peach cocktail which is quite fruity, but very good. We had the Stevenson, Black Rock and the Shipwreck sushi rolls. All were amazing and we really wanted to try the Ke Kai. The lobster dynamite comes in a lobster shell and was ok. DESERT IS A MUST HAVE: Tiramisushi!!! Robert Louis Stevenson with the island rose poem and the view! Eat your heart out! 🤙🏼🍹🌴🌊🐚🍣

We recieved a call 3pm the day of our reservation saying that they had a limited menu- no problem, weve booked months in advance on open table we want to eat here. We get there and confirm that there is a limited menu but it has everything that the kids menu contains- but the chef refuses to make the kids meal. Disappointing at best.

We really enjoyed this place- so much so we went back 2 nights in a row. The sushi was incredible- the best we have ever had. Fairly good spirits menu, at least compared to other places we went. Great atmosphere. Delicious cocktails. We were staying at the Hyatt, but I would say this place is worth a trip even if you arent staying there!

Coming from Chicago we were looking for cocktails that werent just your typical fruit and alcohol overly-sweet drinks that you find throughout the Hawaiian islands. The cocktails we had here were still on a the sweeter side overall, but were definitely more interesting and alcohol-forward than other restaurants here. Food was amazing. Get the sushi pizza- its so good. Black Rock maki was also awesome. Had chefs choice sashimi and it was fresh and several of the fish options practically melted in your mouth. Service was professional and atmosphere was nice.

Loved the college library style ambience . Good cocktail selection . Hardly any vegetarian option , the sesame spinach and veggie rolls saved the dinner . The rolls were fresh and delicious, excellent plating too. Family enjoyed their ShipWreck and hamachi . Tiramisu in sushi style was brilliance . And delicious too. Would have given 5 stars if the service wasn’t slow. The staff was helpful and friendly but the restaurant was more than crowded.

Don’t bother going if after 10pm. We were just there to have a couple late night drinks. We were seated at a high top near the bar due to this. Server never came so went to the bar and bartender said they would get the server. Still no one so we just left. If you want better service and a better whiskey selection go to Avalon Gastropub. Farther away from the Hyatt but well worth it. We will be back to this resort but will never go to this place ever again.

This is our 7th time in Hawaii and this place has the best ahi tuna ever! No fishy taste at all, only umami and perfectly jell-o like texture that melts your mouth. Miso salmon was also very tasty! The cocktails we ordered were all watered down, and the price was kind of high… $8 miso soup I was expecting something either very yummy or larger portion, but it was neither 😅I’d still come back for the ahi. If you can’t get reservation, walk-ins are accepted at the bar seats.

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt for a week, went to this place twice thinking it would be better the second time. It wasn’t. We went for sushi and cocktails the first night. Service was not great, we ordered from our actual server twice (I tried to order a whiskey and he said it was out and didn’t know the alternative; didn’t come back with the suggestion after he went to the barand then a bus boy the second time since our server didn’t come to us. We got the sushi pizza which was small but good, then the moriawase which we thought would be super fresh fish but was not at all. The second time we came to give them a second chance, we asked the hostess if we could sit at the bar and she said that was fine and directed us to seats. We sat there for about 10 minutes and the bartender came up to us saying he couldn’t serve us because we weren’t six feet apart from the other people. Totally get it, we live in Chicago so we are very much familiar with covid rules, but why sit us somewhere we couldn’t be served? There were plenty of other spots open but we decided to leave since this was our second bad encounter with this bar. Would HIGHLY recommend Tidepools, both restaurant and lounge. We loved the bartenders in the lounge, so welcoming and friendly, the restaurant was the same. Stevenson’s is not friendly what so ever.

Best sushi on island hands down! Lele Kavai is an excellent server! Super sweet with her warm Aloha personality. Great atmosphere awesome view of the ocean. Cozy setting with dim lighting. Literally a library with fresh seafood and sushi rolls. Me and my husband start off with the miso soup and sushi pizza. The Lobster Dynamite is an absolute must to try. Cooked to perfection. I recommend getting their specialty Rolls! The sushi is A real work of art and every bite just melts in your mouth and your taste buds just want more! I like pairing it with a sake. The Matsuno Maduri and the Hana Hou shu Sparkling are my absolute favorite! Also, dont forget to order the Tiramisushi for dessert! Rich, creamy, sweet Tiramisu Rolls. I really appreciate the level of service and quality of food here. Never disappoints!

The sushi was good but not great. Basically as good as your favorite moderately priced neighborhood sushi place . The service is good. But 5 stars because they make a dynamite gin martini. Avoid the hotel cocktail menu and just order a classic. Like perfect.

Stevensons Library was one of the most amazing experiences we have had in Kauai; from entrance to the hotel, greetings by the hosting staff, ambience, mixology, food and our most amazing waitress Kawailele- it was truly one of the most memorable and happiest date nights we have had- in the entire year and a half we have lived here. We truly appreciate the level of services and quality of experience at this location; its unmatched and one of a kind! We cant wait to go back and I now wish we would have made our next reservation following our dinner. The sushi chefs were also incredible, kind and its obvious they come from top notch training. First and foremost, they have the best mixologist on the island! We had all the drink options between the two of us and there wasnt one drink that was not absolutely delicious and made to perfection; we walked a way quite cheery to say the least! For food we had hamachi carpaccio (delicious), lobster dynomite (the most incredible item we had that night so we went for a 2nd; and btw I am not a fan of lobster in fact its the only fish I do not typically ear but wow!! GET IT), nigiri (maguro we doubled down, sake, hamachi, kanpachi, ebi, saba, madia, toro also doubled downand toro sashimi which we also doubled down on because it was incredible (they had the most fatty option which we went with- as we as a lower fatty option). All in all this was truly a five star experience and I highly highly recommend this place if you are looking for a combination of yummy drinks, food and a beautiful place to dine! Thank you for showing us the Aloha way and for such a specials date night experience!

Raw sushi was good, everything else was average at best. Cali roll was bad, miso soup and dynamite lobster was way too salty, cooked salmon was over cooked. The best part was the server Johnny, he is the man

Some of the best sushi we have ever had, anywhere. Everything was prepared to perfection. Tuna, salmon, local fish, all incredibly fresh. We also enjoy some of the fish cheek, as well as the lobster/crab dish. Special thanks to our sushi Chef, Angel, for some amazing service and unmatched plate preparation. Add in the views, and its a perfect sushi experience. Book ahead of you can, but the bar is a great way to enjoy if you dont have a table!

I want to start off by saying that I love this restaurant and I’ve had nothing but great experiences here. Specifically my man Johnny was just the best and honestly one of the best waiters I’ve had in a long time on Kauai. The reason I gave them a 4 star is the shrimp tempura is a frozen product from Costco that they just fry and use the sauce from the same frozen packaging, and it was $20! Now you can buy that box of 30 for that same price and make it yourself or get the same thing at Genki. The most disappointing part for me is that there is truly a lack of effort in this. You go to restaurants like Kim Chee #9 and they make quite possibly the best homemade tempura on the island and the plate costs $18.95 with rice and other toppings. Now a place like that I would expect frozen products but a restaurant in the Grand Hyatt and of this caliber should be stepping up their game big time.I am by no means telling you to not go there. Honestly, they have amazing sushi, signature cocktails, and service. I would just stay away from anything with shrimp tempura unless you want to be served something you can buy at Costco that is being pawned off as some amazing dish that a restaurant that is a part of the Grand Hyatt has made.

Delicious!!! Honestly surprised by the not so great reviews. Is the food good? Heck yes! Is it better than your favorite spot back home? No idea. We REALLY enjoyed our meal (the chefs choice sashimi was particularly goodand thought the service was attentive and friendly. An excellent concept: beautiful bar with views of the beach and killer sushi. Our drinks were great, but the sushi was the standout. Unbelievably fresh and delicious. Im from LA, so my sushi standards are high, and this place far exceeded them.I was with someone who is fairly new to sushi, and for whom nigiri and sashimi are still a bit intimidating, but she ate toro and hamachi with glee. Hawaiis waters make all the difference.Service was pleasant, though not super attentive (it was late). The only knock. But they seemed to realize that and brought out free yuzu cheesecake for us, which was EXCEPTIONAL. Total redemption. Cant wait to go back.

We came here for my boyfriend’s birthday (he wanted Toro specificallyand it did not disappoint. We ordered the sushi pizza, which was small but very tasty; the Stevenson; Eel and Acocado; and Spicy Tuna. The Stevenson roll was my favorite as far as flavor and texture, but I really appreciate that the eel they use is Anago (ocean eelwhich is sustainable vs. the more common Unagi (fresh water eel).

An unexpected gastronomical jewel sits upon this magnificent resort’s crown. Chef Jay who has over 20 years of sushi experience has crafted some delicious dishes which satisfy the most exacting palates. The fish was just the finest and most freshest cuts and really propelled the dishes to stratospheric levels. Kudos to Chef Jay and his team. The only hiccup in the evening was by this young thug on the terrace who kept shouting or rather howling for the first half hour of our meal before being escorted out of the restaurant. The manager was very good to diffuse the situation. Back to the food: just stunning dishes. The uni was as fresh as I’ve ever tasted and I have eaten at 3 star Michelin restaurant in Tokyo. Bravo!
