Decent food, well stocked bar and good service

Definitely has a Port St. John’s vibeBeers are cold so it ease waiting a little longer for your meal.If you’re into a rare burger 🍔 all good, if not best you let them know when you place your order. That said, you get a good sized burger… but your first bite doesn’t keep you going. Chips are also okay, but not great.No complaints equally no rave review.And hey, if you’re looking for a wild coast experience look up Wild Coast Homestay Huts on Google.👍🏻

The best food.

I ordered sea food on the menu and went for a healthier option so i chose baked potato with grilled fish...no dissapointment there at all. Only the utensils was left on the plate after i finished. I sat outside, atmosphere was great, service excellent.

There are not many dining options in Port St JohnsWe decided to try Steves as it looked quite festive from the outside. Rather disappointing though as it was a total let down on the inside.Food - mediocre.Ambiance - non existent.Service - expected more.

Having read the reviews of Steves Pub & Restaurant, I can only assume there are two eateries in Port st Johns having the same name? A long wait for mediocre, obviously frozen, line fish and chips... & the place lacks character, atmosphere. Why bother?

Worse restaurant in Port Saint Johns. I used to drive all the way from Mthatha just to have some amazing sea food there. Now the service is the worst, entitled waitress, with very bad actitud. She doesnt want to help, If clients leave, better form her, less work.

Food was great. Great service from our waitress, just took a bit long to get the food.

Youll wait forever for food. Very limited options around making Steves one of the more decent ones. They do however have a very elaborate menu and food is tasty

Love the warmth from the staff. Makes for a pleasant evening out. Had a prawn wrap this evening. Wow it was delicious.

Had a Seafood platter for 1....Truth be told, I would love to meet the person who could eat that on their own! It was a gigantic portion of delicious seafood!Friendly attentive staff, good food and cold beer and Steve has a winner there. Definitely a "go back again" type restaurant.

Port St Johns is a lovely town but youre a bit pressed to find decent places to eat. Think this place is as good as it gets there - food wasnt terrible but also not good (my pizza was dense beyond belief). Service is slow as others have mentioned.

Food is ok. Service is very slow and unorganised. We had a big table and the food came out for each person at different time. I got my food and finished eating before last person got their meal.

Great food and friendly service! Had the Westcoast basket, and it was excellent. A must stop for anyone staying in the Port St Johns area.

Given the fact, that Port St Johns is not a very lovely town (anymore?and people recommended this place to us, it is probably the best restaurant in town. That doesnt change the fact, that the food and drinks were not tasty here. The seafood platters consist of fried and greasy bites and one of us had the Spaghetti Bolognese - not good either. Drinks and cocktails tasted weird and were full of sugar. The price is upclass, but the food was not even mediocre. Sorry to say, but I cant recommend eating here to anyone.

Well done. Had good food and Sipho knows how to make excellent cocktails. Traveled 50km but was worth trip.

The Owner is quite a racist, the Staff are great people though

Love the atmosphere, the staff is incredible and the food is excellent for the price i would highly recommend you at least visit here once while in port st Johns or every night you are there

Fair. Food acceptable but not great, order incorrect and sent back. We did have a trainee waitron though so in all fairness service quality could be expected to be low. Not great value for money. Extremely slow service, we were the only people in the restuarant that morning and it took over an hour to get the order. We were a big group though, 15, so perhaps an exception can be made.

The best escargot and butter chicken curry for many miles. Come to Steves and enjoy their large menu. Tranquil apot

OK Food. Large-ish menu. Vegetarian-friendly. Satisfactory staff. BUT it takes absolutely ages to get your food!I’ve eaten here twice now.The first time I made my own pizza, but it came out with the crust over cooked and the toppings undercooked. I felt quite sick afterwards.The second time I tried to order breakfast to go... we timed it at 42 minutes waiting for a piece of Pita with feta, sun dried tomatoes and butternut squash; one espresso; and one breakfast egg wrap. HOW does such simple food possible take that long?!Overall it’s a decent place because you have so few options in town. This place is barely good enough to fill your belly. If you go, you might walk out after hours of waiting with an aching stomach and the lingering taste of dissatisfaction (and oil!)

Lovely atmosphere and the best food. I had traditional samp and beans with stew which was awesome. Staff and waiters very friendly and prompt service. Well worth eating and having a cold one there. Art shop also very nice and we bought some nice memorabilia that is made by the local people. Well done Steve and all involved. Highly recommended.

This is the food that i waited for almost 2hrs,if you are busy dying from hunger you’’re gonna die! 😞The Chef must learn the technique of cooking fast! I usually wait for my food at the resto for half an hour. That time when we arrived there were few customers only , but to wait that long, i think its not worth the wait! ,,,tasty but pricy menu,food presentation excellent , also while im at it, R50 for a bag of ice is daylight robbery even if in the Sahara desert.😆 if you have dollars or pounds it is not expensive

This is a very nice and clean restaurant and the food is brilliant, the portions are very big which is good if you have a big appetite.The waiters are also very friendly.A must stop.

Relaxed chill spot with varied menu. Friendly staff. We didnt have any meal just the treats lovely lemon marangue, snails and drinks.

Was there at 20h00 on a Friday night with my family. Lots of empty tables, but owner tells me place is full and i need to leave, not politely at all. Stay away from this place, owner needs to realise that this is not the same country it was 20 years ago

Very nice Set up..and nice menu....prices a bit steep..depending on the clientele that you wanna attract..food is good..if you are prepared to wait...otherwise pre. order ..then come back later...

I was travelling with a puppy dog, and I requested an outside seat so that the puppy could stay with me on the lead while I eat. Well, they gave me a seat inside with the pup on the lead!

We passed by with our bikes and Steve immediately welcomed us and introduced us to his friend Mister G at the Jungle Monkeys. He even invited us to have breakfast the next morning. A very open minded, friendly and welcoming guy. It was a pleasure meeting him!

I enjoyed the menu. It has variety but the food is quite expensive. Overall i liked it,good experience and the service is very good.

Its a nice restaurant, maybe one of the best in Town. The food we ordered tasted really good, the cocktails are nice and the desserts are really worth a try. The pizza and desserts (The Bar One Chocolate Pizza is heavenI had there were really good. Unfortunately the fish I ate there was a bit dry.But all in all, I can really recommend this restaurant.

this was one of the worst restaurant experiences i have ever had, food and drinks took a long time to come out, the food was terrible and even the other tourists around our table were asking what on earth we were eating because it looked and tasted horrible. the manager only came to see what the issue was when other people started coming to see our food (and no we did not call them to our table). he was rude and dismissive and reprimanded us for complaining.

The food is fresh and properly prepared. But then you need loads of patience and half the day to get it. The river mouth makes it less painfully on a good day regardless of the weather!

Nice spot to grab something to eat. The owner, Steve is hands on and will come have a quick chat with you at your table.Service is lacking here but otherwise a nice meal out
