Steve's Bistro - Mediterranean restaurant in Winnipeg, Canada
Absolutely outrageously good food tonight !!!! 7 stars if I could !!! Thank you for the great service and awesome dining experience ….!!!!
Wonderful people and food. We felt like family.
Everything was amazing here! The food the service the atmosphere, all of it! No complaints whatsoever
It was our first time and we will be making it a regular stop. The quality of ingredients, especially the olive oil really stood out. The atmosphere and staff were welcoming, Steve even came around to check in.Proper Greek family Bistro.
Got to meet Steve in person. He approached us multiple times to ask how the meal was and chatted with us for a bit. The mussel appetizer was amazing, and it was essentially a meal. We had to bring the rest of our food home since we were so full!
Really delicious food and great staff.
Always great service and delicious food. Everything weve tried has been great. Burgers are really good. 👌
Great atmosphere and fantastic service at this restaurant, had a great selection of menu items and could pretty much make whatever i would like to eat.
Went for lunch with a group of coworkers. The service was fantastic and the food was great. Everyone seemed very happy with their meals. It was my first time there. Looking forward to going back with my husband!
Great evening at Steves Bistro, excellent dinner and service! Thanks Steve and Dina!
Good Greek food, also staff were very accommodating with my fiances dietary requirements.
The food was delicious and they were very helpful and accommodating of my allergy to garlic.
The food and the service are fantastic. Great wine and cocktail selection. Very reasonable prices too!
Tried Steves for lunch. Excellent gyro, probably the best Ive had! The owners are incredibly quick and hospitable. This is a local gem. Steve even came out from the kitchen to ensure we had a superb dining experience. Thank you!
Was o.k. not a real fan of fountain pop. Would rather have canned or bottled. Ordered a meal (pita)with no onions. Got onions. Wasnt impressed. Nice place. Probably wont go back. Pic is of mederterranian burger
Hadnt been for awhile and as soon as I decided to go, mouth was watering! Did not disappoint! Same fabulous mussels and fries as always. Friend tried cheese steak panini and loved it. Quality food and quality service.
One of favorite little spots in Winnipeg. Yummy Greek Fusion cuisine. Very nice decor, and very safely setup during these difficult times.
Steve’s Bistro is hallowed grounds in our neighbourhood. This is in part due to Steve and his outstanding staff. If Steve isn’t greeting you at the door, he’ll make sure to visit your table during your visit. His teams food is absolutely amazing and about as traditional Greek as you can get this side of Crete. If you want to partake in a few post meal beverages this is the place. Again, outstanding atmosphere coupled with equally great service and great prices.
Great place for very good food with a mediterranean flair! Good wine list. great greek salad, great steaks! Appies are to die for. Ambiance is great. Good value. Highly recommend.
This was my first visit to the restaurant. The food was very delicious and in sharing half was a good amount. Though the server did not wear a mask nor did they stay the required 6 feet away. When I asked about a mask or shy away from her being so close, she did not reply. The washroom did not have soap, sanitizer or towels. I will not return for the two last comments due to covid missteps.
Fabulous food and genuinely awesome staff.Fatboy and sweet potato fries were awesome and the homemade breadpudding and icecream was perfect.Great little place Steve, well be back!
The food here is always amazing, whether you eat in or take out. The customer service is also great, everyone is super attentive and happy to see you. This place is a favourite for me and my whole family. Every salad has delicious ingredients, large portions and the shrimp are huge. Highly recommend!
Great and super friendly place. Excellent home made food.
I celebrated my birthday on Friday March 6 at Steve’s Bistro. Our waitress seemed a little frazzled right from the beginning. When our meals came out (everyone ‘s but mineshe came to me and apologized profusely about how she mistakenly missed punching in my order. She felt terrible and I said that it was ok, and to just bring me something that could be prepared quickly bc my order would have taken 25 minutes. I didn’t want her to feel bad. These things happen. The owner came to our table and apologized on her behalf. My aunt indicated that it was my birthday, and the owner told her that she should then buy me a drink! Not sure how that fixes anything. The waitress continued apologizing to me so many times while I waited that it became incredibly annoying. When our meal was done, she came to me and begged me to have a dessert and coffee on the house...begged! I told her that I didn’t want a dessert, I was full. She kept insisting and wouldn’t leave it alone. We paid for our meals and left. Had the owner offered me a discount on my meal or a voucher for a future date, I would have been ok with it. The food was good! I came there happy and excited, and left feeling very disappointed and annoyed. This is my first review ever, good or bad
Steves short ribs are probably one of the best things I have ever eaten in my entire life. I dont usually even like beef, but these are a revelation! The parmesan mashed potatoes are also delicious. Service is always quick and friendly.
I wish I hadnt eaten so many delicious appetizers because the steak was perfection! All the food was amazing and so was Steve. 💕 We enjoyed our Christmas party there and it did not disappoint!
Enjoyed another fantastic meal! Had the sole with greek salad and perfectly cooked fresh vegetables. Mmmm great! My husband had the Rueben and greek salad, said it was the bestever. Waitress was extremely pleasant and had a gwonderful sense of humour. Thank Steve for a great evening.
Went for lunch..had to wait a bit,but very well worth it. Cant say enough about the food. Freshly made, portions in my opion large(im a big manand flavor.....yum. Our sevrer was running around making sure everything was good. Shes very polite . i reconmend,if you are first timer, really take her suggestions on what try serious. You wont be disappointed.
My friend recommended this place for lunch and it was surprisingly delicious. They have some of the best homestyle fries I have ever tasted and their Greek fusion was simple, tasty comfort food. We were in and out within our hour long lunch break and prices were reasonable, with the lunch special coming in at $13.99.
I love this place. The food is always delicious no matter what time you come in. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner I always leave satisfied. The service is always great. My favorites include the Dakos Salad, Gyro, Spicy Tomato and Feta bake, and the Beef Short Ribs. The atmosphere makes me feel like I am dining in Greece.
Steves Bistro has become a regular attendance for us for breakfast, lunch and dinners. What keeps us coming back?...The friendly and attentive staff and also the consistency of preparation of the dishes. You can always count on Steve and his staff preparing your meals with a touch of Greek flavor and you can trust that it will always be consistently great. Today was no exception when 6 of us attended for breakfast and we had the Greek omelette, BLT and of course the Winnipeger. We highly recommend Steves Bistro as your destination.
We got in and was greeted by friendly people. Our server is so awesome! The meals are great. My stomach was singing the happy tunes. when got home! I would return to this place again in near future. Nice environment and cleanness.
Top quality food and service, a nice quiet atmosphere and a great place to bring family and friends. I went for a dinner with coworkers and we were treated like family. The carrot cake was unreal!
I love going here not only for the food but also because Steve is so friendly and the staff are amazing. The food is authentic and delicious that come in big portion sizes. The average person will go home with leftovers so a good bang for your buck. I highly recommend the gyros and the paninis but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.I recommend making a reservation before you go as this is a very popular place to be.
I’ve been to Steve’s Bistro a number of times over the years and it’s a decent place. The food is generally pretty good. And Steve, the owner, is super friendly and will stop by your table to check in on you and strike up a conversation. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a comfortable feel. However, I find that the food can be inconsistent – i.e., the beef dip can sometimes be amazing and other times just average. But when the food is good, its quite good. I just wish it was consistently so. On the past few visits I’ve ordered soft drinks and it’s always tasted a bit off. I’ve kindly asked them for a new soft drink on such occasions, and they fiddled with the soft drink dispenser behind the bar and improved it. But, after several requests like this over several visits, I have just stopped ordering soft drinks. Their desserts are pretty good so this is a decent place to stop in for coffee and dessert. I’ve never ordered breakfast here but the menu for it looks really good.
A casual place to grab some fine greek inspired fare. Not an overly enthusiastic fan of the parking situation of the strip mall its in, but thats more a statement of what was a popular design of the time the strip was built. Steves itself is great, you can always expect to find some great lunch specials being offered, and the fact that theyll do half salad half fries on entrees is always appreciated. The staff if prompt, professional and friendly. Overall a fine dining establishment.
Nice neighborhood eatery. Good parking and bus route. Smallish space and very busy on a Wednesday at lunch time. Food was plentiful. I have had better pork souvlaki. This was in a pita so may be different than a skewer. The rueben and chicken pita was good my friends had. Wine rather expensive 11. For a 9 oz .
The food is good. The portion size is big. The service today was ok except for the older lady with a bad attitude (she wasnt or server but two brief exchanges were terrible).
We go to Steves Bistro every Saturday morning and love it. Excellent service, good food and your coffee cup is never empty. They off your typical bacon and eggs, veggie breakfast wrap, your typical breakfast menu.
Came here for lunch, was pleasantly surprised. Lunch specials were appealing and affordable. Food was good, portion sizes were quite large, you definitely get your moneys worth here. No beers on tap, only bottles, which was kind of a bummer, but understandable. Wine list is quite extensive though. Decor was nice, had a European vibe to it. Staff was very friendly, checked on us regularly and gave great service.
The food and service here was excellent! Had a delicious gyro and salad. The food came quickly and was prepared according to our orders. Would highly recommend trying this place!
Honestly, the best food I have ever had. Portion sizes are perfect. You never leave hungry. Usually there is even a bit to bring home for amazing leftovers. I have tried many things on the menu and I have yet to try something that I dont love. By far, his Mediterranean burger is the absolute best burger I have ever had. And I love burgers, so thats saying a lot. Steve, not only cooks your food himself, but he will come out to greet you at your tables and make sure everything is alright. What restaurant have you been to where the head chef makes sure your meal was right? I havent been to a single restaurant other than this. The pricing is around the pricing of Moxies, Joeys, or the keg. I believe the value and experience is well worth the investment. If you havent visited Steves Bistro at least one time, YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO TRY IT! Seriously. It will be your favourite restaurant. I wrote such a long review because it was that good. He deserves it.
Casual enough to be my neighbourhood go to place and special enough to dine in style on a date. The food is always exceptional and the service outstanding. Prices are right on the mark for the quality and deliciousness that is served. Love this place!
WOW!! What a great restaurant experience! Me and my girlfriend just went there for the first time .. great food and great service ..we were promplty greeted at the door and our waitress was very helpful and friendly.. the owner even came to see us at our table which is great to see!! We had to try it after reading all the great reviews and it did not disappoint. We live nearby so we just found our new regular restaurant !!THANKS STEVE !!!
Its a great neighborhood restaurant. We had their lunch special on a busy Friday. They made a go-to Gyro wrap with homemade fries and salad. It was delicious. The restaurant atmosphere was cozy and contemporary looking. They have a patio to enjoy also. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. In Winnipeg, it is good value for great tasting Greek influenced menu. Licensed. Lots of parking.
The lunch menu has so many of my favorites. Their hamburgers are like a taste of my childhood as they are just like my mother made them. They get busy but the music and atmosphere and superb food makes the occasional wait more than worth it.
We went for supper. Wed planned to go somewhere else but it was closed for vacation. So driving back on Portage we spotted this and thought "lets try it." So glad we did. We both have discerning palettes but regular folks might say were fussy. We just like the food to be outstanding. So I had the lamb chops - taste was a 10/10...right amount of herbs and spices. My partner ordered the souvlaki and he loved it and also that it was wrapped in a waxed paper holder and not tinfoil that can make your teeth tingle.Server was friendly, quick and attentive at just the right times. When our meal was over the chef/owner came out and introduced himself to us (Steve). We told him it was our first visit but that it wouldnt be our last. Prices are moderate to high but food and service are fantastic. Only drawback is its a tiny place snd all it takes is one table of loud people to spoil the ambience.
Love this place ! First off I have to comment on the bread pudding; AMAZING. If you havent tried it yet I really insist you must. Ive been to Steves at least 5 times now, likely more, and I can say it has been consistent every time. Our servers, food, and atmosphere have always been good for a fair price. There isnt a lot of good restaurants in west st.James so Im quite glad to have Steves close by. I also noticed the owner being actively involved during dinner service; He even came to our table to ask us how our experience was at the end of the night. I feel credit should be given where its due and Steves always puts in the effort to make sure you have a comfortable and satisfactory dining experience. I look forward to returning again soon and encourage new comers to try this place out !
Steves Bistro is a good place for Greek / Mediterranean food . I always found their lunch menu to be light but they compromise that with big servings. Its surprising but Im not complaining.I usually order the Mediterranean Burger with a Greek salad. The burger is homemade and their Greek salad is full of feta. thought it was a mistake until I ordered it another 2 times. Maybe the best Greek salad Ive had in Winnipeg. The interior is nice with a relaxed vibe. They can cater to big groups or individuals and the staff is super friendly.
Good food but never pay cash here for food - had dinner and it was good - I agree it is overpriced - Tenderloin steak, Caesar salad and dessert for $50 per person - I had a bill of 129.85 (we had 2 glasses of wine - one eachand gave 160.00 (I know this because I took out 200.00 cash for the night- and I had 40 left - I added the extra 20 because I was going to leave a tip higher than the 10 I would have received in change. Change was brought back as 10.15 instead of 30.15 - asked waitress about missing 20 (the one I wanted broken down - she said it was not part of the money she got- unfortunately for her I got the money from the instant teller 15 minutes before going to the restaurant and counted it out in front of my girlfriend. I am a 49 year old - not a 18 year old - this does not sit well with me.The food is good - never pay cash. Use credit. We will never go back.
