Steinkorsene på Tjora - Historical landmark in Stavanger, Norway
Wenn man schon da ist, kann man sich die Kreuze mal ansehen. Aber extra hinfahren würde ich nicht…
An important place in Norwegian history.
En spännande utflykt, att se nått annat
Great Place!
Jo da! Gammelt men ikke verdt en egen reise.
Nice

Not much to see, but an important place for sure. Nice to visit on a longer hike.
The very first evidence of Christians on east coast of Norway. There were 4 crosses originally, but there are only 2 left our days as a symbol of the end of Vikings day in iron age. Crosses were used for ceremonies before first church was build in this area. There is a cemetery associated with it, but it was never excavated . The estimated age of cross raising approx. 1100-1200 our days, and this is matching the beginning of Roman Catholic Church in Norway. Crosses are rare for Norway as it shape the same as Celtic crosses and is a visible evidence that this region had contact with the Celtic church in Britain. There is a small parking and an information board in Norwegian near by. May be the place not worse visiting itself, but a nice stop if you are visiting Sola old church or learning a history of the area. There is a local jeweler who makes a beautiful silver pendants in heart shape with this crosses on top.
