Steenbras Lookout Point in Hermanus

Beautiful drive up the hill and beautiful view ⛰️🌄🏞️🧗... There is a hiking trail up there but not sure of the skill level of the track.... Lovely place... Can be very windy 🍃🌪️🎏 though so be careful ...

Its just such a cool viewpoint for a quick trip up the mountain.Get those legs in shape if you keen on jogging, walking or cycling up too the top.

Always a good view of false bay, depending on time of day, it may be busy, but youll certainly find a place to park and absorb the view

Such a beautiful sight! Chatted to some awesome staff at the lookout, who showed us pictures of the dams, thanks fuys! Would really have loved to see the dams myself though....its closed to the public sadly 😥

Steenbras lookout point is my 15 year old daughters very favorite place to visit in our home town, Gordonsbay. We have been up there in daylight and at night and it is truly magnificent with an absolutely spectacular view of Gods wonderful creation.

If you plan to have a good view of what GordonsBay is like - this is the best point to visit. You can stay in your car and still manage to look at this beautiful view in front of you (which is the ocean mostly). You can easily see whales in the ocean when you are at Steenbras. The small town of Gordons Bay is fully of boats and restaurants that seem to be very friendly.

Nice drive, the area is neat and in good shape.

Stunning view and tranquil atmosphere. Last been here over 35yrs ago. Just disappointed that one cannot go to the dam. If people could only see the beauty of it. Not sure if its the same though. I remember going down to the dam wall. See attached pics.

Beautiful view. On a clear day you can see, if not forever, but at least to the cranes in Cape Town harbour.We were above the clouds in the sunshine this time.

The view from the lookout point brings to life the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words". If youre in Gordons bay definitely worth checking out.

A very scenic lookout point overlooking Gordons Bay beach. The place is relatively busy and it seems like people have it on their list of favourite places to visit. There are several parking spots en-route on the road leading up to the main lookout point. Unfortunately the main lookout point has parking for about 8 vehicles.

Stunning view on the mountain, can see the harbor and city and oceans. Great vibe, and there is a tiny abandoned house near by.

This place has a good view of Gordons Bay, Strand and Somerset West. At the horizon you see Khayelitsha, Mitchells plain, right through to Simons Town.Steenbrass is an outlet clear water pump station from its dam above Gordons Bay mountain. It is one of the key sources of water to the City of Cape Town’s Bulk Water Supply. Athletes and the general public use the steep road to do their hill repeats. Sport Cars, Motor Bikes and Cyclists love this place; testing their "gadgets" performance.

Spectacular views. Beautiful scenery and fynbos, proteas and exquisite flowers in bloom.

Incredible views across False Bay after a drive that felt a bit like gaining altitude in a small plane. Just a pity there was rubbish left to spoil the scene.

The road up to the lookout point is amazing, beautiful views to the mountains and the ocean. It is a bit windy but definitely worth it. I recommend this lookout point, will visit again soon.

Great ride up to the point with a great view in this sunny day. What a golden opportunity to have a cafe up here, the CoCT could have a guided tour of this place as well. Come on guys, get with beat and commercialise this place..

Beautiful lookouts and views of False Bay. Be careful on the road as there are unsavory drivers thinking it is a race track.

Breathtakingly beautiful. I make a point of driving up to the water works lookout every time Im in the area. Beautiful!

A bit of a challenge for the ones scared of heights! But the view along the road is amazing. And once you reach the lookout point the view will absolutely leave you in awe! There are even a few benches where one can sit and enjoy the amazing view. Even if you are slightly scared of the heights I would recommend take a breath and go for it! Worth it!

This is my new favorite spot! Make sure to go on a wind still, clear day and take a picnic basket. Great sport of watching the sunset but also great during the day.

Lovely lookout point, you could walk along the fence of the treatment plant but that has been fenced off recently and no access is allowed

One of the hidden gems in the Western Cape. On a clear day you can see the whole bay and the stunning Hottentots Holland mountains.

Such a beautiful place. Really great place to gather your thoughts and reflect on life. Its THAT kind of place...when no one is blasting music

If you have a fear of heights then this will be a nice way to overcome it. Nice scenic cruise up to the lookout point. Care to be taken on windy days. Parking stops along the road are allocated. Always nice on a Sunday, end off the weekend with a spectacular view of the Helderberg area. Cameras and binoculars are must bring items.

One of the best lookout points I have been to. Can see ranging from Somerset West all the way to Simons town
