Steele Narrows Provincial Park - Tourist attraction in Meadow Lake, Canada
Nice little site for history. Could use some more upkeep but I can see how it would be hard (vandalism is a problem)
Nothing there except some stairs. Not recommended for recreational purposes.
Monuments and grounds around them could use some TLC! The monuments at the top of the hill need the coverings replaced as some were not fully readable.Staircase was sturdy and well-constructed, benches partway up the stairs were greatly appreciated, but there was some garbage and recycling and broken glass laying around the parking lot.
The oral history compared to what is written is interesting. History written by an elite "Canadian" male. His narrative only serves the purpose to negatively portray the indigenous population while imply or inferring rightful ownership to the land.
Nice scenery
Very nice view
A very majestic place where you can go back in time and not help but think what it was like during The Northwest Rebellion and The Battle of Loon Lake in 1885. I came across a gravesite of 3 cree warriors who were K.I.A. on June 3rd 1885 during the rebellion against The Northwest Mounted Police. The white markers you see around the perimeter are where the warriors fell.
Good fishing. Worth the drive.
