Funky, warehouselike space housing a microbrewery & serving up bar-style comfort food.
Lunch today. Excellent service 👍. Great Red ale. Mac and cheese with green chili. Yummy. A little different Caesar salad. A bit too much dressing for my taste. Clam chowder. Yummy. House salad with grilled salmon 😋. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend
Dinner was pretty busy on a Tuesday evening. We were quoted 20 minutes but were sat in half the time. Ordered the aloha burger and the food runner made us chuckle greeting us with "aloha". A little more BBQ sauce on the burger would have been nice. Loved the garlic mash potatoes. Southwestern was good, beer fries were delicious. Friendly staff.
Reserve a table! This is a great place. Prices are reasonable and the food is great. I’m a big fan of trout and this one was excellent.Cocktails “mezcal mule “ especially nice. Super crowded on a Sunday afternoonGreat place to gather with friends so I’m coming back
Absolutely loved the food and the atmosphere. Service was great! Highly recommend the wings, lettuce wraps, and the gyro. IPAs hit the spot and the Lizard Head Red was delicious.
Amazingly busy for a Sunday evening! The Belgian wit and oatmeal stout were great! The chimichanga was delicious and Id definitely return.
Excellent! Very cool place. Good beers, great food. Cool interior, also outside covered seating available. Parking could be better, but its downtown Durango what can you expect? 10/10 I do recommend.
There was a 30 to 40 minute wait for a table for two, but we were able to find two spots at the bar and eat right away. The bartenders were friendly and pretty quick given how busy they were. We should have checked Waitlist and got on the list online before coming in, since they offer that.We had the Cobb salad, the smoked 12 oz sirloin, and the Cajun dusted wings.Ive never had smoked steak before so I wasnt sure what to expect. I guess I was just thinking maybe it was a smoky sauce. But it was delicious! The steak actually had a smoky flavor. We ordered it medium rare and it came medium. The Cajun dusted wings werent really spicy. Tasted more like seasoned salt and pepper. We tried several beers. Really enjoyed the seasonal sour and the red lizard.
Steam works is a great place to watch football and have drinks. The food, beer and service is awesome.I will be back soon.
This seems to be "the place to be" in Durango. Even on a Tuesday night it was a 30 minute wait. I had the Maui Wowie Pizza which I failed to realize just how spicy it would be. The crust is infused with red pepper, the pineapple must have been soaked with heat and the jalapeños were super hot. It was just too hot to eat. My wife had the chicken lettuce wrap which was pub style rather than what you would expect at an Asian cuisine restaurant.
Solid food, service, and great variety of beer during my visit. Check out the chile beer which really nails the flavors! The large restaurant has an industrial/rustic and new feel. While a great experience overall Id recommend if youre looking for more of a smaller/local feel Id recommend others.
Love this place! Smoked wings are amazing! Fries not so much. The barrel aged barley wine was fantastic! This is a must stop place for us.
This place is huge, has a great balcony, and the menu has a lot of delicious bar foods. They also serve flights and its totally customizable.
Fun place with great beer selection and food. We had a short wait on a Wednesday early evening. Big place with great waiters. I got the blackened trout and my husband the gyro. Both delicious. We tried three beers. My favorite was the red and his third eye ipa. The stout was good too. Prices are reasonable.
The best clam chowder ever!!! Grilled salmon and pasta are also delicious. Excellent service!
Love this place food is good atmospheres even better as long as you get there right before the rush hours all will be good in your world!!
My family really loved this place. Food is very good and not too expensive. We went to dinner here two nights because we enjoyed it so much. Place fills up fast, so plan on a 45 minute wait for a table on most night in season.
Dirty fries is awesome , staff is so nice. But the local beers they have on menu didn’t like expected. They were just a regular store beer , but the Sultan Beer was good and tasteful.
We were in Durango for the night and for dinner we were looking for a place. We reached late around 8:30pm and by that time most of the places were closed. We searched around us and decided to have dinner at Steam-works Brewing Company.Since we reached around 9:00pm we didnt had to wait and we were seated immediately in the booth. The atmosphere was great and looked liked the amazing brewing company. We were greeted by our server Christopher with menus and water. After exploring the menu, for beer I ordered Steam Engine Lager which was the local beer for the brewing company, and for food we ordered Ssam I Am, Southwest Salad and Buffalo Chicken Flatbread. The server was amazing and he answered all the questions well as well as suggested the food according to our taste.First I got my beer Steam Engine Lager which was amazing and I loved the beer.We had to wait for 15-20 minutes before we got our food. The food was delicious and we loved each and every bite of our food.Chicken flatbreads were just amazing and delicious with chicken cooked perfectly.Amazing Brewing Company and must try in Durango.
Busy place, and for good reasons! Got a table by the large open windows so you can enjoy the nice weather an sidewalk scene. Awesome slection of their crafted brews and any type of alcoholic drinks. Crowds happiness is catchy, along with the super pleasant waitress and excited cooking staff. They throw a bunch of clatter up with hoots an hollers when someone buys the kitchen staff a round. Very fun upbeat vibe place. Menu looked great with many choices. They dont have gluten-free menu items, but you can custom order things, and of course, order there burgers without the bun. I ordered the nachos with chicken. It was very good and huge ... like 3lbs+ huge. It could feed 3 people or more. I ate a bunch, but could still barely fit leftovers in the box. Its an appetizer but could be a shared meal!
Its rare to find an establishment that checks my 3 main boxes...food, drinks, and service. Ive been a customer here over a number of years and in those categories nothing has changed. In short, all are amazing! I truly enjoy my entire experience every visit. If you dont go at least once you are missing out. Cheers to the owners and crew at Steamworks!!
Excellent brewpub in Durango Colorado. Huge food menu. Great selection of beers brewed on site. Lizard head red was excellent. Prime rib dip and Indonesian salad were excellent. Lots of parking nearby. Great waitstaff. Highly recommended.
Short and sweet: Excellent American Fusion experience, clean space, friendly service. Be prepared to wait and don’t act like a Karen about it. It’s worth it.Detailed Experience:It’s a very busy and very popular place. We had a group of 10 and waited about an hour to be seated. No biggie. Lots of shops in Durango to peruse.Delightfully diverse menu. Everything from the chicken fajitas to the fish tacos were a good experience. The kids got to sit in a spot where they could see the cooks tossing the pizza dough.
The drinks we ordered were good, but the food we ordered was really lousy. We got the spinach and artichoke dip (which was mostly an unmelted brick of cream cheese), a veggie pizza (which was light on veggies), and a chicken BLT (which had very thin pieces of chicken, lettuce, and tomato). I wouldnt order any of those things again. Partially the fault of my own ordering, I left the night feeling really disgusted by the food.
Mason! He the MAN! Great service. He truly wants the dinning experience to be favorable. Great advice to take Florida Rd to Lake Valincia.
After driving all day, this was the first place we visited when arriving in Durango as it was the only place open late. Happy we did as the food was great the beer selection was excellent and the atmosphere and service - it made us want to move to Colorado - relaxing and "chill". Between the menu suggestions and great conversation from Matt and the cool vibe, well we stayed later than planned. Everyone else was friendly and fun too. We will be back and highly recommend it.
this place is the SPOT. there are so many different cultures and food types to choose from, and they’re all so good. definitely not for picky eaters or indecisive people though, but good food for people who can eat whatever they think they’ll like. the gyro is amazzzze.
We were debating between two other downtown restaurants, but Steamworks was recommended to us by a local shop owner… and MAN did it exceed our expectations! The food was amazing, seating and service was quick, and our waitress was kind - all while being one of the cheapest meals we’ve eaten all week haha. Didn’t try the beer but would love to visit again. Would for sure recommend.
We had a great meal. 2 hour wait. Hockey night. 1 seat at the bar. 4 of us had room to order n wait for more seats to open . Great bar staff. Shout out to Bolton... Seats opened up. N we all got to eat at the bar. Took less than 30 minutes.
Great beer, delicious food and good service. Everything was as it should be, the menu is creative and most of the menu choices sounded appealing. And, it’s dog friendly, can’t beat that.
The fish tacos were fantastic! The pizza my wife ordered…not so much. There were 6 of us in our party. We had no reservations and were seated in a reasonable time frame. Our server was on it from the beginning…. Refills, clearing stuff, etc.5 out of the 6 in our group loved their food. If you’ve ever diner out with family…. This is an achievement.10/10 would recommend and return.
I went in there wanting a local brew and some lunch. Bar staff was very indifferent and chatting amongst themselves. The beer was good. The service not so much. I left without eating. I have been there before with better results. Maybe they had an off day on Saturday. I will probably be back Ill just request a table.
Every time I visit Durango, on business, I always at least spend one night at steamworks brewing company. I enjoy their friendly staff. Good menu and numerous TV screens to watch sports. However, on my last visit, I had probably one of the worst dinners that Ive had there. In recent memory. I ordered the blackened chicken sandwich, and when it arrived I picked it up and it just felt very light. I put it down, opened up the bun and as youll see in my attached photo could be the worlds smallest chicken breast. Also, when I cut into it, and not eating the bun, I discovered the chicken was half done. Was concerned about the next chicken. So if you go, be aware of the size they serve, especially for the chicken breast sandwich.
Ive visited 4 times now a year apart each time. The first time I sat in the dining room, second and third at the bar. Both sides have very attentive and capable servers.I had a burger the first time and it was great, the second time I had a BBQ pizza, also great! I had the Cajun Penne the third time, by far my favorite!Ive had the Dirty Fries, Ssam I Am and a side salad, each was great, but Id recommend sharing as they are big enough to be an entree.I love how they have their own brews, and all that Ive tried have been pretty good. A few werent my fav, but everyone has different tastes.
I expected so much more! All the locals kept telling me to check this place out so I did.First off, we had to wait for 2 hours to be seated. Thankfully we were allowed to wait in the back patio area and order some drinks. The employees, are so friendly and attentive. They are great. The atmosphere is very upbeat, it’s packed so it’s noisy, but fun. Now to the food.My husband and daughter got their boil and it was very bland. It lacked flavor. My steak, was over cooked, they did take it back and they brought me another one which was also over cooked so I just decided to deal with it. The beer was nice and cold however. The worst part however was the next day when my husband, daughter, and me all got food poisoning. We believe it was the seafood since that was the only thing we all ate in common.
Love the atmosphere and the greetings from the server. She was awesome there. Food was delicious and loved it all, will definitely go back
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. I had the chiriso meat loaf on a bed of mash potatoes and let me tell you it was beyond what I expected! It was so good! My wife had the burger and it was well put together and very juicy. The beer was very delicious! Much recommended!
Easy to say 5 star. Awesome food with lots of options and a great kids menu. Beer selections are unique and we didnt have anything that didnt deserve another. The prescribed burn was impressive. Great atmosphere. Mos important, the customer service. Josh was an awesome server, several others assisted and everyone was willing and eager to help. We even had fun buying the kitchen a round of drinks, and then hearing them celebrate!
Love the waiting system where you just use your phone and can wander the cute town while you’re waiting. Better than average but the mixed drinks could have been better. I know it’s a brew house but for those who don’t drink beer you can know ahead of time! Food was good but nothing spectacular. Kids pizza can serve 2-3 kids. The crust on that was excellent
Great brewery/restaurant! Had a short wait for a table (during lunch hour). Our server was very pleasant and helpful. Excellent beer brewed on-site, delicious food, and an overall great experience! The Fiery Ginger cocktail with a locally distilled honey whiskey was excellent!
Had a 45 minute wait, but they can text you when table is ready. Its close to shops so you can window shop while you wait. The beer is really good, the food is excellent. The kids menu has a lot of options.
1st time here & it was legit! Bangers & Curds were delish! My Firey Ginger cocktail was good...not my fave though...but the Buffalo Chicken Pizza was SO tasty...I almost hurt myself trying to eat the whole thing...it was that good. I mos def will be back to try more!
We didnt eat inside, we sat outside and they brought the food to us. It was really cool. The tables with the fire puts were really warm. The food was and their drinks are delicious! The cider I got was super crisp!
Enjoyed a nice whit beer. Bacon Royale burger was delicious. Server, Jocelyn, was nice. RECOMMEND.
Excellent food, but so popular the wait is often extensive. Our order got messed up but they worked to fix it. Just left members of our group not eating while others were...
Theres a lot of places in Durango to go for a beer and food. Steamworks is a long standing staple of the Durango community. They were brewing & serving beer long before the craft beer craze took hold of the country. The beer here is fantastic and always on point. Ive never had a bad choice. Their recent 25th anniversary Barleywine is amazing.Food is likewise good. Its typical bar food with some fancier options from time to time, but its always been great. Never a complaint from me.
Dirty fries were yummy! Brisket dip sandwich was great. (pardon the bite from my sandwich). Roasted potatoes good. Chicken fried steak and gravy also wonderful. Husband had the barley wine. He enjoyed it. The Cabernet was quite tasty as well. They were extremely busy. We waited an hour but was worth the wait. Service was great even with almost every table taken.
My boyfriend and I had been planning to try Steamworks for 5 years and we finally made a special trip from Albuquerque to Durango just to experience it. We brought our little one with us, too, and felt it was absolutely family friendly. I 100 percent recommend the crab boil and these fries as an appetizer. We wish we lived closer.
Ok, so expect a long wait and save a spot on the wait list on-line. I love this place, I’m not sure why bar food taste so great here, maybe it’s because you’re in beautiful Durango. The pizza is delicious (I ate a piece before the photothe gingerita drink was made with gingerbeer and jalapeño tequila distilled in Colorado. I recommend the brisket dip sandwich and fish tacos! The Colorado Kolsch beer is soooo good. I love this place! Super cute t-shirts and tank tops for sale too (I collect brewery tees).
On this trip I stopped by for lunch with my son. This place does live up to the hype when it comes to their lunch menu. The burger is outstanding and they have several varieties. I very much endorse the dirty fries appetizer. The lunch crowd is very busy and very family-oriented.
Food was good, we were a party of 6, and we did have a few of us dissapointed in our meals but still decently satisfying. It had a great vibe and the service was great!Probably not a place we would actively choose to come again to but we left happy and full.
