Stawell's Grampians Gate Caravan Park - in Stawell, Australia
We just got home from enjoyed a week in cabin 32 on the lake front. I am surprised at the reviews of the Caravan Park and particularly the managementWe had a quiet location, could not ask for better. Spoke with Marianne when I made the booking several weeks prior. Website was very comprehensive and Marianne emailed further information of sightseeing options. We spoke to her several times in the park and found her approachable and friendly. We took special interest in the black swans and how good the parents were to their cygnets.
Highly reccomend this caravan park. Helpful staff, Attractive sights with water views. Clean amenities.
It in a great location only stayed one night but we will be returning and recommending this park
Amazing place to stay, recommend to any camper. Sites to suit small tents to large caravans. Amenities are spotless as too the entire park.Lynda and Noel are such lovely hosts.Definitely be back. Brett and Ebonie
Extremely rude management. Lady owner needs to see some psychiatrist soon. She was yelling all around park for no good reason during our stay.
Absolutely beautiful place 😍Peter and Maryanne are so kind and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for our stay. We had a spot next to the water that was extremely peaceful, surrounded by swans, ducks and birds. Clean and tidy park and toilet shower blocks. We will definitely be back.
After reading all the negative reviews we nearly didnt consider this park. I can tell you that this place however is a must stay. When I first called Marianne, she couldnt have been more helpful. Upon arrival she is a wealth of knowledge showing us all the different areas to visit and restaurants to eat at. We had a terrific spot on the back lake and had a great week. Very peaceful, amazingly clean ammenities and can 100% recommend a stay here. Thanks guys, we will be back.....
Loved this caravan park in Stawell. Site spread out over lawns and gardens around a lake with bush setting in the background. Families of ducks and black swans come up and sit on the grassy lake banks behind the vans. Clean modern facilities, pet friendly and pleasant staff. Close to Grampians and other walks and sightseeing.
Stayed at this park booked in for one night stayed two amenities are clean enjoyed our stay managers were very helpful will drop back in again
Great resort having great facilities, clean toilets, good common kitchen and pet friendly. However, the lady on the reception is neither pet friendly nor human friendly. First time ever I have seen such rudeness in the hospitality sector. We were 8mins early from the checkin time and it was an issue as per her. She expects the dogs to never ever bark. Will scream at them while riding her golf cart. Over all the stay was spoiled due to her. Hope the site had good and friendly management which will take it to 5 stars !What a reply from the park ! YES, it was this park only. If you want me to call and speak to the owners then who is looking in to the reviews and replying here !!
Rude obnoxious ownersBeautiful groundsNo compassion from owners.Electricity was cut off to entire park after paying for powered site with no back up generator in place to carry out renovations to an ablution block. No mention of this on booking no refund offered for inconvenience of losing power. The owners do not have any people skills shocking personalitiesDo not go here
Very clean , neat park. Amenities block very modern and spotless. Tarred slabs on site for your convenience .
Stayed 4 nights over Easter in a lovely, clean, cosy cabin by the water. Great base for exploring the area.
I have never met such rude people in all of my extensive travels around Australia. How people with such a terrible attitude are running a caravan park is beyond comprehension. When on holidays a smile and welcome attitude is the minimum. The owners seem to think they are doing you a favour by letting you pay to stay at the park. Plenty of other terrible reviews about these people on Wiki and Google. Wish I had checked prior to booking. Stayed one night and could not tolerate the rudeness so left and went out to a free campsite rather than stay.
Lovely clean park, in the middle of Stawell. Has a unique bush setting at the rear of the park with brick fire pits at every camp. The premium sites are a relaxing experience especially the birdlike. Amenities are very clean and staff very friendly and helpful. A tick on our list.
Very nice stay. Staff factored in wind direction when allocating a site for us. They werent full, so that was a surprise option!
Great relaxing few days. The only thing I could fault was that the toilets are so low. Not good for a tall person. I could feel my knee tissue tearing as I went down. Ouch!
Great place to stay. Approx 25min drive from Halls gap, which meant that it wasnt busy with flocks of tourists. The owners were very nice and helped organise a trip to one of the local wineries. Good shared kitchen facilities with all the kitchen items you could think of. And the showers had really good water preasure.
A beautiful large site, quiet & relaxing with a lake and birds. Great amenities, kitchen, laundry, showers with amazing water pressure!Only 20mins from Halls Gap without having to be in super crowded Halls Gap. So quick to drive up into the grampians with hikes & waterfalls galore! We found this place accidentally when searching Halls Gap accommodation (which was fulland honestly it really made our holiday, love it here!Really friendly & helpful staff. Showed us all the great activities in the area and hooked us up with freebies at local wineries (highly recommend Pomonal Estate for lunch - and get the chocolate & wine testing flight!)All & all an amazing holiday here!
Clean and tidy cabins, has its own small lakes. Some nice atmosphere. Only downside is you can hear the highway traffic if your a lite sleeper, and the trucks run all night
Very nice welcome to the park . Very nice camp kitchen toilets are clean. Also if you keep going back after 9 times you get one for free. Plenty of reasons to keep returning to the area easy access to Halls Gap and the Grampians.
Great service and expert advice on all the attractions. Very clean and affordable accommodation....... We will definitely return.
We booked in for this weekend and had to cancel due to COVID. She refused to refund all our money. We paid in FULL to alleviate stress, and she decided to steal it. When I called she was disgusting. She said they would put it on customer account. I said I dont plan on being back and dont want to be their customer.. She said you will never be a customer with that attitude.. She apparently thinks this is heaven and she is the gatekeeper. They have ZERO compassion and are greedy. They have made heaps off people because we had to cancel for COVID. Must be hard not having ethics or compassion.
We stayed here recently for 7 days. The Caravan Park is very nice and it is dog friendly. We loved to be greeted by the 2 black swans and ducks every morning. But we felt like in a Police State. The staff/managers really need to learn how to treat their customers! Even though the park is nice we wont stay there anymore.
Very well managed.Cabin was very clean with all requirements needed. Nice & quiet. Everything seemed very well maintained. Would definitely stay again.
We recently stayed at the Stawell Grampians Gate Caravan Park, Marianne & Peter were very friendly & helpful right from the very first phone call. The caravan park was really nice and well maintained, the amenities were nice and clean and was lovely and quiet. We will definitely stay here again
In 15 years of caravanning, we have never been spoken to as rudely as at the Stawells Grampians Gate Caravan Park.We recently arrived at the park unannounced after hours at 6:30 pm local time due to a last minute change in travel plans.Upon arrival the park owner/manager Marianne greeted us in a manner that can only be described as disgraceful. We copped an earful of abuse with a further lecture on caravan park booking etiquette such as phoning ahead next time. The message itself was fair, however the manner in which it was delivered was simply atrocious. They really need to work on their people skills!!!
The people who run this place are relaxed and good to have a laugh with, while still managing to run one of the most civilized, clean and generally excellent caravan parks Ive stayed in. Top marks.
Had a great stay at this park. Staff super helpful, amenities clean, and wildlife friendly as well! All types of accomodation options, so you will have a nice, peaceful stay. Highly recommend.
Recently stayed here, not for the first time either.Outdated place full of mosquitoes.Lady running the place needs to get some people skills and adjust her attitude, gave us a mouthful when a guest showed up and didnt read her signs written in crayon and not in plain sightWont be back as the price was extreme, (over $50 for a bit of grass.)
I dont know where those horrible negative comments came from. We have had a great week staying in this park. You couldnt get anyone more accommodating than Marianne. Maybe she just doesnt suffer bad behaviour
Great service, the management always go the extra mile. This was our 2nd year and we will be back again! Super friendly and always floating around to lend a hand, Peter took our boys for a ride on the golf cart and made their weekend! Dont believe the negative reviews, obnoxious people need to leave their rude behaviour before they enter and remember that the world does not revolve around them. Highly reccommend !!!
I stayed there with family for 3 nights. Extremely rude and insulting behavior by the owner marrianne. She shouted so badly on our family friends who had to leave one day early and they cleared the camping site at 10:00am (on timeon that day but just stayed at our camping site for 30 mins or so just to have a cup of tea before leaving us. The lady marrianne suddenly came and started shouting "OUT, GET OUT FROM HERE. GET LOST NOW.." and she kept on shouting and our friends with families left immediately. Our holiday fun was really spoiled due to this incident. I hate that park now. Also, site itself was not secured as a fox roamed around our camps one night. The lake was dirty and met some big spiders in the toilet
My stay in this park was one of worst experience ...I could not sleep full night due to traffic noise.Extremely rude staff specially the lady Marianne, her attitude was highly unprofessional and rude.Amenities are also dated, I dont know what was special in that which need to be protected by lock code, lack seems in pictures was also so so...I strongly recommend to avoid this park.
Worst experience ever, Few of our friends were leaving one day earlier and they packed everything before 10am (checkout timeand cleared the camp site as well and was just having a cup of coffee at our camp before leaving and that lady Marianne (ownercame to our camp at 10:30 and started shouting why are u guys here your time is over get out etc etc. She was extremely rude and aggressive. I will never ever go to this camps site and would never recommend anyone. Stay away from this everyone please. Moreover the place was not clean, no security at all, we even had a surprise visit from a fox last night too. No boundary walls and lake was pathetically dirty.
Extremely rude staff specially the lady Marianne who SHOUTED SO BADLY and asked us to GET OUT OF THE PARK IMMEDIATELY as its 10:30am. We checked-out our tent site at 09:45am and were standing next to our car having one last cup of coffee before we hit the road, outside the six tents of our family friends who were staying at this caravan park for another night. Her attitude was highly unprofessional, didnt give us any single warning but started to yell GET OUT NOW. GET OUT NOWWW and continued this for the next whole minute which i took to fasten the seat belts of my kids and start moving my car out of the park. What a way to end someones holidays. I am brown, may be she was racist or having some geniun attitude problem. Park and amenities were dated too, tent sites were all close to the busy road so expect constant noise. I would recommend to STAY AWAY from this park in any case. We made this terrible mistake as nothing else was available for this long weekend.
Oh man extremely rude staff and that lady, she shouted so badly on people next to my tent that my kids in my tents start crying there lungs out, extremely extremely unprofessional and traumatic experience. Kids were so scared that I just wanna call the cops on her.Stay away from this place and that lady to avoid trauma during your vaccinations
We enjoyed our stay there. Location is nice. Shared kitchen is well equipped. Staff is nice, friendly and cooperative. Prices are very reasonable. There are many options to select from ranging from powered tent sites, ensuit tent site, caravan and cabins hire. Toilets and showers are clean.
Absolutely would recommend.. Lovely friendly owners, even the other guests were so inviting and friendly. The cabin was the cleanest I’ve ever seen accommodation, And equip with everything one would need. Just a wonderful stay.. 10 stars from us😊 Nepy and Chris from Mildura
Stayed for two nights on the way to Grampians. Great experience. Could have stayed longer and used as a base to discover area. Owners were most welcoming and helpful. Added surprise, on Saturday night, owners Maryanne and Peter held a BBQ by the lake with live music.
Large park but quiet at this time of the year so we were spaced out with plenty of room. Amenities are clean and well maintained. Nice lake with ducks and swans. Recommended.
We have just spent 11 nights here. the owners where so accommodating . We needed to leave our van and make a trip up to Sydney, they looked after it and ensured it was secure. The grounds are just amazing and the wild life is a credit to them. 2 lakes, baby swans and ducks. Thank you so much guys in everything youve done for us.
1st time camping.Lucky to have done it here.Very helping staff. Easy drive to Woolworths. 30 mins drive to grampians. Very clean toilet and well equipped camp kitchen. Beautiful little play ground for kids.Well recommend this to others.
Not only a lovely place to camp but lovely owners as well. Marianne and Peter made us feel welcome from the ’get-go’. A great base to explore the silo art trail. Plenty to do and see in Stawell, and close to Ararat, Great Western and the Grampians. Marianne is a great ambassador for the local region. The site facilities are well maintained, clean and functional and the caravan sites are large and grassed, not to mention the access to free herbs growing around the park. Other surprise to find the Park is located on the original site of the first Stawell Gift.
We enjoyed our stay here for one night while attending a wedding. We were happily greeted and allowed to check in a little early. The place was comfortable and well maintained. Thanks for having us.
We had intended to overnight here but the starter motor failed and ended up staying three nights waiting for delivery of a part. Marianne was so cheerfully helpful with all our dramas...special place to park so we could be towed etc and also in giving us good general info. The showers are great, the amenities are spotless, the grounds are well kept and the situation beside the water is lovely. That running race they hold here is not the only Stawell Gift.
We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom cabins facing over the Lake which was very pretty with plenty of birdlfe. The cabin was warm, clean and comfortable. The whole stay was relaxed and enjoyable. Very helpful staff. We enjoyed using the camp kitchen with friends.
Fantastic welcome from Manager. Extremely helpful and friendly. Understands what caravanners want. Its a beautiful scenic well maintained park on a lake. We will be back for sure.Thank you so much for your hospitality you are well suited to what you are doing.Sue and DavidBack for a second time and a great warm welcome again from the manager. Please do yourself a favour and include this wonderful scenic park onyour agenda We are certain that you will love it just as we do.Thanks again for your lovely park.
We had a lovely stay in this Caravan ParkAll amenities might be old. But the showers and toilets were very cleanand new taps had been installed.Nice touch is they have a radio in the amenities block which lets you know what is happening in Town.Marianne and Peter were most helpful. Thanks for a nice Stay.
We came to Stawell by default after having our booking in Halls Gap mucked up and have been very impressed by what we found. We were greeted by friendly, professional staff who went out of their way to make our family holiday very special. It has been an easy drive into Halls Gap to visit all the Grampians attractions and we didnt have to contend with the crowds there in the caravan parks over the Melbourne Cup weekend. We had all the facilities that Stawell has to offer but the tranquility of a beautiful park on a lake with lovely spacious grassed sites and spotless amenities. We will certainly be staying at this park again if we need to stop over in this area.
