Charming cafe with leafy garden, for breakfasts and eclectic dishes from carefully sourced produce.
Lovely lunch meal, parking now available at the back. Service good, food was delicious.
Small, quaint, personal and friendly service. Eat inside or outdoors under the trees and vines. A modest menu of light meals but catering to a wide variety of tastes from burgers to vegan options, delicious salads, North African to Asian to traditional local dishes.
The most peaceful, secret garden in which to take a breath and enjoy a delicious treat or meal. Highly recommended.
2 couples seated / served before us. Then to be told we requested outside seats, which was not the case.Waited 30 mins to even be asked have you been served. On observation Gran and gran-daughter table in front of us was just as irritated. Young girl in fact got up to go and enquire about the delay.
Love, love, love the garden setting at Starlings! Great coffee, smoothies, and baked treats 😁 Winter months spent indoors while the fire is going is also amazing!Attached are a few pics I took while building an app-based marketing platform for coffee shops!
You can park at the entrance of the restaurant, but its narrow and theres not enough space, so park by the side of the road. The food is delicious and plentiful. The coffee was good, too. The staff were kind. The bathroom was clean, too. There is also an outdoor table. All right, but there may be bird poo on the chair, so please take a good look.🤪Its a good restaurant I want to visit again. There is no play area for children.
Lovely coffee and breakfast. Service can be a bit unpredictable hence 4 stars. We were there early on a Saturday morning and a few people got their food before us, even though we ordered first - but I would definitely come back again!
My partner and I just wanted a decent breakfast and then we stumbled upon this hidden gem. Amazing breakfast and super fast service. A happy tummy is a happy customer.
The atmosphere is amazing. I could listen to the birds tweeting and the environment is really calm and cosy. The service was absolutely brilliant. I ate French toast with blueberry compote and it was delectable. In my view the food was good value for money. I really was impressed with the restroom because it is completely quirky. The decor is spectacular.
If youre looking for a wonderful restaurant you should try it. The atmosphere is amazing. There is food for every taste. It isnt cheap, but its definitly worth the money.
This was a lovely surprise when we entered the green garden and sat down at a beautifully decorated table. The trees spend enough shade on a hot day and it all had a very relaxed atmosphere. People were working on their laptops, moms were meeting for a coffee with their new born babies and old ladies were chatting about life. The menu is not excessive, but you still have a great choice of things to eat. We had a burger and an open sandwich and both were absolutely delicious.
Always perfect to enjoy my breakfast and work a little bit.
What a gem! Always wanted to visit and had such an amazing time. The food was incredible. The chicken livers by far the best ever!!! Will definitely be back...
Great hot chocolate, cozy fireplace and a selection of cakes and pastries.
I love Starlings. Perfect for a cup of coffee and cake. :the fireplace inside is so inviting and the outside area is so dreamy.
I love that this is the definition of a hidden gem, if you drove down the street and were not paying attention, you would miss this place, and it would be a sad day. This place has a great menu and some unique items but is relatively small, and some may find it limiting, but what they do have, they do very well, and I highly recommend the open-faced masala sandwich. Its a bit different but perfect nonetheless.I will say that their coffee is not the most amazing but still good will admit the price is a little high but priced well for the area, although there is a coffee shop down the road that kills it with their price, maby consider a coffee hour?Overall a truly magical place that is well run and with excellent decore, the stalf and team that works here kills it and should be rewarded for their fantastic work.
I had heard so much about Starlings and was so looking forward to my visit. Sadly we left so disappointed! The outside area is lovely, yet needs a bit of TLC and while staff are friendly, the service was very very slow. When drinks and food finally did arrive it was cold. The second cup of coffee never arrived. 🙁
Cute little spot, the outside area would be fab in summer. Good breakfast options. The french toast & eggs benedict was really yummy.
Such a lovely cute place log fires burning inside gives it such a cosy feeling . We sat outside so the kids could be a little free . We had the lentils - eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs with croissant ( for the kids . The food was delicious. Great service the waitresses was so friendly! Highly recommend
You have to go beyond the trees to experience this. Starlings cafe is true to their name... Many starlings birds at home in their garden while you enjoy your meal. At first the atmosphere feels oddly not like a restaurant but more like someones home you visiting. Even better so. Spacious and popular. Good food, better coffee, a must must try.
Lovely vibe and great staff! Stopped by for a quick coffee catch-up with a friend and ended up having a super yummy chicken mayo toastie too. Perfectly cozy and a good spot for remote workers or for a quick business coffee. Highly recommend!
The best coffee shop in Claremont, and the top 5 in cape town. Excellent food in the charming garden. I always visit multiple times when I am in cape town.
A really lovely little restaurant! All their food is divine and it has a really nice garden to sit in! Ive been coming here for years and Ive never been disappointed once!
Great ambience, menu and service and a must visit when in Cape Town. Very popular so query seating availability. Limited on-site parking but ample street parking with good security presence. One of my favourite venues
Best eggs benedict this side of the mountain. The wood stove is lovely on misty winter mornings like today. We’ve been going there for years and hope to keep on going for many more!
Beautiful hidden away venue. The curried mince is really brilliant.Price has gone up a lot on last 2 years but with a stop for a special occasion. On a warm day, sitting outside is heavenly
Absolutely beautiful little hidden Gem. It feels like you are sitting in an enchanted forest. They were very accommodating to my diabetic needs. They didnt have low carb toast but my breakfast wasnt lacking at all. It was perfect.
Had a lovely breakfast dateCute set up in the midst of a garden with lovely greenery scenic views. The eggs Benedict was amazing and the smash burger was so tasteful. Will definitely be back for more
Set in an old house with a beautiful margin garden. Front of Starlings has an enormous hedge, so look for that, not a building with a higherQuaint decor throughout, including the gorgeous bathroom, and into the magical garden. Very shady, all range of seating options. There a fewer seating options inside and on the steep, but the amount of pretty outdoor seating names up for that. They do not have a wide ranges of cakes and croissants and scones, etc. What they have us extremely well made and delicious.I have mostly gone for coffee and a croissant. On a couple of occasions that I ate, the food was also great, especially the salads.I thoroughly recommend a visit to starlings for the food and the atmosphere. Not sure if you can book but if you can phone ahead and book a table for outside, they are taken fast.
Such a lovely hidden gem! A little sanctuary with amazing staff and delicious food. I only had the breakfast this time round but Ill be back.Update:Decided to head back to Starlings but unfortunately the incredible experience I had a few weeks ago was no where to be seen. Two staff members walked right passed while I waited to be seated. No warm greeting and waiting time to be shown a menu was 10 min. I was excited to have a breakfast again but decided against it for two reasons.1. No one came to ask if I wanted to eat anything.2. If the coffee took 10 min to get I wasnt sure how long breakfast would take.
Wholesome tasty meals in a cosy, secluded garden setting. Friendly staff and good value for money. A number of vegetarian and vegan options.
Cosy hidden place with a shady garden,Quite busy Saturdays so don’t expect fast service. Food was ok
This little gem never disappoints. Fresh food beautifully presented and decent portions. Whether you’re after a cuppa in the garden or prefer the cosy warmth indoors, you’ll enjoy the friendly service and the quaint setting.
Beautiful restaurant for a light breakfast or something bigger, staff are quick and very professional.
A quiet and peaceful setting. Service was fast and friendly. Food was fresh, delicious and portions are very generous. Pictured is the yummy peri peri chicken livers with poached eggs.
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Starlings, the service and meal were fantastic but the garden, the garden is just the cutest little breakfast setting one could wish for on a sunny morning
Quirky little local coffee shop and cafe. Rather a small menu but full of healthy salads and interesting options. I had chicken Caesar salad which was very tasty. It was too hot to sit outside and unfortunately the ceiling fan was broken where we sat inside. Otherwise 5 stars.
Have been before but service was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! Waiter took our order for a cup of tea then we kept trying to get his attention to order breakfast but he never took any notice of us. After an hour of just chatting we asked for our bill and left. Never again will I go there!
Amazing in and out door venue. I really enjoyed to sit in the garden and have my breakfast there. Food was great, service friendly and fast. There a little park at the back if youre lucky enough to find a spot😄...otherwise you can park along the street, there is a very friendly security guard to help you. I did enjoy my time there. The french toast just delicious 👌🏼☕
Very nice place to hang out and work, they offer great fresh juices. You must be careful you may miss the entrance, its small door covered with trees.
Lovely little garden cafe. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and beautiful garden. I recommend sitting outside. Generally on the pricey side though, not the place to go if you need a cheap drink. Can get quite busy, especially on weekends (its a popular placeand service can get quite slow. Having said that, the food is delicious and their fresh juices are really nice if you enjoy that kind of thing.
Really great atmosphere, the staff are friendly and their service was amazing. The breakfast was really nice, definitely going back to get a seat outside next time!
It’s an experience unlike anywhere else. As tourist, I’d strongly recommend this place for a breakfast. Despite the slightly long wait or the short menu, it’s worth it!Great food quality and seating areas, all with reasonable prices.Thank you to Starlings and staff for mornings like this.
Amazing cafe in a garden setting.. Good service, great coffee and food. Never disappoints!
A chilled place to enjoy a chat with some friends, there is an indoor and outdoor section and each as equally lovely. If you need a calm environment this is the place to go. The baked goods are amazing are amazing and well worth a try. The coffee and green juice are top standard as well. If you are a café lover, or on a date, or just want to catch up with some friends, or enjoy a treat alone... this is definitely a place to go to!
I love this place. Parking is a problem, and they are often very full. The service can be quite slow. The decor and ambience are fantastic though, and the food is great (albeit not cheap). They dont have many small tables outside, which is a problem if youre two people who really want to sit outside. Also, I really wish they would be open on a Sunday!
Great place to get our delicious breakfast. Had 3 visits for breakfast within a week. The furniture, lightings and interior details created an ambient for a lovely intimate conversation. Will revisit when in town.
Hidden treasure! The large green hedge hides it from view, but also adds to the atmosphere of the place. Good coffee, red capacino & cheesecake! Some large tables on the back veranda would be good for larger groups.Parking for 7 cars through the arch way (off street).Worth looking for.
Lovely place, clean and cosy vibes. The entrance is rather well hidden! Had the burger, which was delicious. Note: currently a severe drought in Cape Town, hence thr disposable plates.
A lovely little cafe restaurant discretely tucked away deep in the southern suburbs. Starlings offers high quality light meals, delicious freshly baked treats and excellent coffee. Guests can either sit in the beautifully decorated front rooms, out on the covered patio, or get some fresh air and dappled sunlight out in the garden. Service is warm and friendly.
