Starlight cafe kosher restaurant - American restaurant in Monticello, United States
Enjoyed but felt rushed & parking lot is a disaster
Great food great service
Terrible experience. Waited 50 minutes from when we were seated until a waitress begrudgingly came to take our order. When asked how long it will take for food to come she answered: “as long as it takes” in a frustrated tone. We chose not to order and left the cafe. Will not be returning nor will we be recommending this place.
Disappointing. We arrived 8:30pm, a half hour before closing. The woman in charge rushed us to order quickly, because the kitchen was closing in 2 minutes! I thought that was strange, but I quickly looked it over and just ordered fish for me, and a pizza for my wife. First came the fish, and it was presentable and tasty. Then the “pizza” came out. Right away, it looked strange to me. Just globs of cheese and no sauce. Ok, so maybe it’s a white pizza. I break off a piece and see that it is not cheese on a pizza crust, but it’s some flaky dough, something like a boureka or croissant! This is not a pizza. I couldn’t eat it, unless you like eating a pound of melted cheese with no crust. It cost $20 too, and it wasn’t big. The manager or owner didn’t care. She said the menu says malawah pizza. I said you rushed us to order and didn’t even have a chance to look at the menu properly! I don’t even know what malawah is. Just a “sorry” and took the money. Foolish owner, because she got the $20, but she lost out on a lot more money for the other times I would have come back.
Was there 8/2/22 Food was Scrumptious, service was great & most of all got the food extremely fast even though place was full
Bad serviceWay overpricedI Ordered 5 breakfast specailI only got 2 small pieces of breadLots of Flies in the foodStay away
Just twoooo many flies and toooo noisey, and a bit pricey
Beautiful location. Not cheap though..
Horrible. I found a bug in my salad. This restaurant is NOT KOSHER.
Great food and the staff are outstanding
Although not the same experience as 1 year ago when we could only eat outdoors. The food here is always fresh and 😋
Food was very good but expensive.
Great view, quick service. Great outdoors seating.
Beautiful views from patio or inside Cafe, Great food! Fun times! & great selection of specialty coffees/ espressos, Also boat rentals by the hour or longer. Best in the Catskills!
Food was delicious and service was quick. Definitely worth the drive from Monsey on a Sunday!
Food is fresh, tasty and so good! service was great and the food came out fast!
Best piece of fish I’ve had in years! Salads were amazing but small for $19 a pop. Would definitely recommend, even if just for the view.
If I can put a 0 star I would give them thatNo service, a mess up with all orders
This place is goals!!Absolute delicious food, super service, gorgeous views!

NO ONE except us wearing masks!!! Not the owners, servers or kitchen staff despite signs everywhere!!!! When I asked why I got a shoulder shrug from the owner. FOR SHAME!! We left
Beautiful place !! I didnt eat anything but my wife said that it was mouth watering
Delicious Food! Fantastic Service, Beautiful View! I Will Go Back Again
We visited in middle of the week so it was pretty empty. The owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were seated on the patio overlooking the lake. We enjoyed the beautiful view.We had a pasta dish, the Starlight trout and the malawach pizza with olives. All three were well done and very tasty. We also had two cold shakes which hit the spot as well.Definitely a recommended place!
We had a wonderful experience!! The service is great and the food is divine!!
Beautiful! Beautiful views and wonderful interior ambience. Awesome food. Great memories!
I don’t usually leave reviews on restaurants however I was at a restaurant that opened up this year and I overheard 1 of the managers there telling someone “here’s your free desert for leaving a bad review for Starlight Cafe on google”I WAS SHOCKED!!!So I decided to go check out Starlight Cafe,Here was my experience.Love the atmosphere!food was delicious!Customer service was amazing! The view is beautiful!Ill definitely be back at Starlight Cafe and unfortunately I won’t be going be to the other restaurant.
Well if you gonna charge me 18 %on tips I expect the best service !!!! !!!! I ask for the rest of my food Togo and the bring me a aluminum container !!!
Great food. Nice place. Relaxing.
Great food, great service. Sit outside and enjoy the lovely view.
Love the atmosphere! Right by the marina. What a great menu the food was delicious! And the customer service was 10/10Looking for forward to come again!
What a shame. This place used to be good and fun and safe. Now its filthy, way over-priced, has poor service and plain food (at best). Not a place to go for food or drinks and the boating is out- right dangerous.Truly a shame.
AMAZING food and BEST service with such a beautiful view! They have the greatest selection of drinks!! Definitely going back soon!
Food was OK, but the 18% mandatory tip is insane. Service was not great. The cappuccino was only three quarters full and it came without sugar, spoon and plate under the cup.
This place has the BEST food and AMAZING customer service!! We have a great experience whenever we go!! Well be back!
Shockingly expensive. I dont know how these frum families walk in with 8 kids and pay for dinner. Fish was literally from $35 to $50. We keep kosher, but this place is not the kind of place to just stop in with your kids. Each thing is like 15 to $50. I think its a bit unethical. Even beautiful places in Jerusalem were not that pricey. And its funny because the surrounding area is not that nice. Most things are really run down. They were very kind and gave us our $18 spaghetti with pasta sauce for free. I guess she thought we had no money. I was very grateful. So kind. I just didnt want to drop 40 on me and my 7 year old. But, if you are hungry and you feel like spending $18 to $25 on a salad...this is your place! I am sure the food is good. Its decorated really cute and its on the water.
Either I am very picky, or the owner has lots of friends who will write good reviews. Regardless, I will give my honest opinion. We live just a mile or two from this marina and heard that there was a new restaurant there. We thought wed try it before the summer ended and hoped for a nice restaurant that we could frequently go to. This place was very disappointing. There were only a few customers inside when we arrived so we were told we could sit anywhere we wanted. We chose to sit inside. The chairs were very uncomfortable (metaland the decor was rustic and a bit ramshackle (even the entrance deck and shaky handrail appeared to be in dire need of repair). The flies hovering all around our table were annoying and we didnt even have food in front of us yet. The menu described some interesting dishes, but the prices were very expensive. Average entrees were in the $20 to $30 range. At a run-down marina? You must be kidding. Maybe those visiting from NYC dont mind paying for lake views and rustic ambiance but we live here year round and there are other, more reasonably priced restaurants (with nicer ambiance)! So we politely left and went somewhere else. Wont be back.
Food was spectacular. Really impressed with the food quality and taste.
Lakefront Kosher cafe on Swinging Bridge Lake between Bethel and Monticello NY. Lunch was delicious and well presented. Very comfortable and laid back. Come and enjoy. Open summers.
Ambience/Vibe: 5Food: 4Service: 5Pricing: 3I would give this 4.5 stars if I could. This place is gorgeous. Id been dying to try it, as so many people had told me all about it. I wanted to sit on the deck, in order to enjoy the sun going down on the lake (of course). The server did not even bat a single eyelash at my large family with many small children. He gave us our choice of two ample tables and we were seated and immediately given a carafe of water. A few minutes after we ordered, we were brought complimentary parmesan fries, which really kept my children happy. Service was prompt and friendly.I ordered the pasta Alfredo with spinach and ricotta and was a little disappointed. The portion size was woefully small for $20, and the sauce very bland. Adding some salt helped this tremendously, but I feel like the chef maybe didnt taste it before he sent it out. Two people in my party ordered the waffle sundae dessert, and it too was kind of small for the price. I saw other people around us who ordered fish entrees, however, and they were an ample portion with a nice helping of sides. Maybe thats a better option.Dinner options are quite pricey, and I found myself wishing that I could order the $10-ish panini from the lunch menu (which stops serving at 4). However, the price wont stop me from coming back, I just might not come back as often as Id like.
Food was great and the relaxing atmosphere added to the experience
Very nice upscale restaurant with beautiful views of the lake! The food was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully! Service was fast and very friendly! We loved it and will be back!
Great food, beautiful view of the lake. Ive been here a year ago the service is the biggest upgrade and is now excellent!
Heard rave reviews but dont go out often. Finally decided to take out the family and I must say I the food was great. Everyone got something different and we all enjoyed. Well done. Keep up the good work. We will be back
Excellent food, great service, and water front view is a bonus. Very unusual to have something so high end in the country.NR
Great food. Wait staff very attentive. One slight draw back there were lots of flies and they explained the health department does not allow blue zapper lights. Food and service more than made up for it. Very nice views next to lake and marina.
Service was bad. Nasty waiter service they rushed us through the entire meal ,didnt give us a full menu. Hot place no ac full of fruit flies everywhere, bathrooms r disgusting. No street lights so we could not c the street sign we circled the place 5 times... not going back again!
