Great place to just relax and enjoy nature
Friendly place to visit with incredible history of the area and people that made the area their home.
Very good explanation of several tribes information.
Thank you. Nice place. I like walking around back. Come to eat picnics an enjoy.
Was there when they dedicated the statue. What a pretty place!
Good explanation and excellent displays and artwork of this important court case and the supporting tribes
Really interesting and informative... especially regarding Standing Bear. Wish we had more time to visit.
This is a fantastic meeting location. I love the grounds. Its quiet and perfect for important club/organization business meetings.
Its a great museum to visit and learn about our native American
Very beautiful area for a great walk around the path and listening to the information that was provided at a number of descriptive stops
Standing Bear park is very well kept. The pond is charming with scenic animals and statues. The oil refinery does create a small background noise and slight odor. The museum is informative and exceptionally situated, but lacks traditional artifacts that bring the past to life. I enjoyed it very much otherwise.
We did not get to go inside but the path to the statue was filled with information. It said they were updating the plaques that read the information soon. The fountain wasnt running but I bet its beautiful when it is. We will come back some time to hopefully see the inside.
Love this place! So much history! Beautiful artwork.
Very nice museum, I learned a lot. I Would highly recommend this place
Nice statue outside. Please was closed so we didnt get to see inside.
Unfortunately they were closed. We were still able to walk around. The unfortunate thing is that most of the plaques and stones are losing out to Mother Nature, rendering most of them unreadable.
I didnt go into museum but walked out to statue
This was fun to walk around and read everything. We didnt get to see the museum cause it was closed but still enjoyed seeing everything
The museum and all the exsebets were all the best and all the trails dosent get any betther
Just pull up there and see the beautiful statue. About once a week I go to drink a soda and watch the ducks in pond. Was my favorite place forever.
The museum was an awesome experience and it was full of history!
Nice place to walk museum is not open right now. Covid
Small museum that could use some technical updates but Im sure funding is an issue. This is an important museum for not only Native Americans bit for all to understand the history and struggle of Native Americans in this country. Most of the history of Standing Bear is available elsewhere but it is nice to see this important historical figure recognized in this way.
This year I attended my very first Pow Wow! I love experiencing the culture and meeting new people.
Pretty interesting information to learn. They dont have a lot, but they dont charge either. Little kids would be bored.
It is a good history lesson about the tribes located in the Ponca City area.
We almost missed this gem. We are RV Travelers heading back to California. Seen a 25 foot bronze statue of Standing Bear and had to stop. Had room for the rv and towed trailer (50 ft nice place to get out and stretch the legs. Didnt go into the museum.
Nice walking trails take the kids out on and ware them out😁
Such a great place to visit. The staff are very informative.
Interesting place to visit, learn about native American culture and also a great place for an evening walk
Interesting place. Nice pathways and tree shade for a stroll. A lot of history about Native American Indians here. Small duck pond. And free. Relaxing.
Walking into the museum my husband and I were immediately greeted and welcomed. The museum director explained the different areas and said, “Make yourselves at home!” The atmosphere of the museum is beautiful and I learned so many interesting facts about Standing Bear. There are also a lot of pieces that can be bought from local artist! Beautiful piece of history!
Excellent place to visit if youre in Ponca City. So much information on the tribes and their cultures and the art was absolutely beautiful! You can also purchase some of the art thats in the museum which is awesome. Worth a visit.
Wonderful museum with friendly staff.
Has nice art work & there are pieces that are in anybodys price range. Also serves the community in a cool way with a classroom. Very nice place to check out.
Nice park and walking path. I liked seeing information for all the different tribal nations. Very peaceful place.
Artwork and Museum is a must see in itself. The history is so sad for the Native Americans. It is good to see they are keeping alive their custom and traditions. The lady was so welcoming and informative. And there was no admission fee. Would like to go back for one of their powwows
The Standing Bear Pow Wow was incredible! The gorgeous clothing, jewelry, song and dance was one of the neatest things Ive ever seen. Vendors were there selling handmade items which were of quality you rarely find these days. People were so friendly and welcoming. If youve never been, you should visit.
Excellent place to go to learn about Ponca chief, Standing Bear, and the sacrifice he made towards obtaining equality in a white mans world. Very beautiful.
Excellent museum, just happened to drive by discovery.
Standing Bear museum is a park setting dedicated to commemorating several Native American tribes which were relocated to the Ponca City area of Oklahoma the museum contains photographs artifacts and historical information There is an outside walking trail which leads up to a hillside Monument of Standing Bear who was the chief in his tribe and considered one of the first civil rights activists for his outspoken defense of the human rights of Native Americans.
Took my parents to the standing bear museum and we loved it. It had many pictures and information about the tribes. Its small but very informative and intersting.
Very educational, neat to see. I rented the meeting room too. Very easy to work with. Staff was flexible and kind.
A must visit! Need good walking shoes!
Great field trip with 4th/5th graders! Nice trial walk outside and scavenger hunt inside the different exhibit rooms.
Quaint- and well cared for facility. Geese were enjoyable. Beautiful landscape. A small waking trail on museum site. Good to stretch your legs. Great stop! Coming back to visit. At the museum Tony was so helpful. He give us information on surrounding activities. Great history- look forward to the PowWow in September. There is a small gift area, gallery, museum and beautiful music was playing. Clean restrooms. Nice break on a long trip or a destination if visiting Ponca and spending time in town. And it was all FREE!
They should take better care of historical park instead of the geese poop taking over the history of corse geese poop but they should try and keep it clean and in better shape and maybe simply taking the time out and whiping down the post where it gives infomation I couldnt even read it other than that I do believe it would be wonderful interesting beautiful park
This place was fabulous. Lots of beautiful artwork and pottery for sale in the center. Well laid out, comfortable and inviting. The gentleman greeted us pleasantly and provided us some information about the center and grounds. The statues and tribe tributes throughout the park are fabulous! However, the statue of Standing Bear and the eternal flame in the fire pit were spectacular. This is a must see attraction in the area!
Very clean, very interesting, free and informative, not crowded, very casual. The people running it were extremely helpful and friendly.
Fantastic place , I love the view. Its informative . Cultural richness , well kept . All around its been a real treat , and pleasure to visit every time.
