Hearty Swiss specialties are dished out in a cozy country setting with alphorns, cowbells & flags.
Stadtkeller in Luzern
Description
Privilege
The Stadtkeller Swiss Folklore Restaurant is absolutely worth a visit! Apart from the pleasant meals and wonderful atmosphere, the restaurant provides the best entertainment for all guests. It is a highly recommended place to be in order to enjoy the traditional meals of Switzerland and traditional Swiss folklore performances at the same time. The setting of Stadtkeller restaurant is cosy and the interior is generally decorated with old wood. The waitresses were dressed in traditional Swiss costume and they were very welcoming. The traditional Swiss folklore performances include blowing the long alphorns, professional yodeling, traditional instrumental ensemble and many more. The performers are multilingual and performances were mostly conducted in English. It was very entertaining throughout and everyone was invited to participate in the line dance at the end of the show.Apart from the ala carte menu which serves a variety of different Switz meal, the restaurant serves 3 course meal and one of their highlights includes cheese fondue as a starter.
MoreWe had a wonderful lunch of walnut gnocchi with chicory and beets for me and bratwurst and french fries (plus a lovely pumpkin soup starterfor my daughter. These were complemented by a refreshing, flavorful Stadtkeller beer and a delicious white wine from Obrist.
MoreWhat a lovely way to end my trip to Switzerland...great food.. fun entertainment and delicious fondue... it was my birthday.. September 22nd and I couldnt have spent it in any other place.
MoreEnjoyed a good meal and good beer. Very friendly staff.
A restaurant where every tourist visiting Luzern must go to, not just for the food bit for the Folklore shows in the evenings. The typical swiss cuisine is something every tourist should try from bubbling Fondue to Raclett, their steaks, the älplermacaronni und much more! Was glad they even had something for a vegetarian like me!!Took my Indian guests there and they loved it!! Pleasant ambience, friendly service and located in the heart of lovely Luzern!
MoreExcellent show. Great food, service was good until the waiter forgot our coffee and had to leave
MoreThe service and food were great, but the show was by far the best attraction for us! I dare you to sit still while the fantastic music and very engaging cast, beckon you to join the fun! A great time was had by all...and the evening ended with the entire place in a conga line! So much fun!
MoreWent to Lucerne, Switzerland 3 years ago and we couldnt leave without having the famous fondue. The cheese was ok, but I didnt like the bread to be honest. The restaurant has a live show that is quite interesting to learn about swiss culture. In a few words, it is quite a touristy joint
MoreThe pork cordon bleu and the sausage were great!
Had an amazing time here, they even had a live show/event where they keep you entertained while eating. The food was great and the crew were very friendly.
MoreActually a Great Show; great experience! You pay for it though.. whatever is on their online menu/prices is NOT true today.. I understand making up for COVID times, but to mislead is not morally fair..We had a nice meal but you can’t get that “fondue” experience without paying for a pkg dinner for each person.. and the show is worth whatever you are willing to pay.. just don’t be blindsided with the cost.. that’s it
MoreNice place, with an attractive atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is highly recommendable, with convenient prices for Switzerland.
MoreGreat time and great food. Audience participation creates a fun atmosphere.
Good restaurant with perfect ambience. It was bit crowded at the time we visit. Dishes available are of bit pricy (purely based on personal opinioncompared to other restaurants, staffs were really good and cooperative. We ordered one grilled chicken dish and it was tasty.
MoreLoved it! We were there for dinner on a Saturday night, where they also had a Swiss traditions night and it was just lovely. The hospitality of the staff was incredible, and we had so much fun (and pretty good fondue).
MoreNice place. Food prices reflect the cost of the folkloric show.Nice fondue then a piece of chicken followed by desert. Conga included !
MoreThis was definitely geared toward tourists because they had a musical group playing native music. They were very entertaining, though and included some audience participation songs. The food was excellent and the fresh beer was delicious!
MoreSUCH a fun experience! Is it slightly touristy? Sure, but don’t let that stop you. The food was very tasty and the servers were incredibly kind. The dinner show itself was super entertaining and our two boys, 8 and 6, said it was the most fun meal they’ve ever had. Right after, they asked if they could come back the next night. If you have a family, DEFINITELY come here.
MoreThis place was a lot of fun. The food was good but way overpriced, you are basically paying for the live entertainment.
MoreAbsolutely terrible waitress, we were waiting there some time, she ordered one group then go away, brought them drinks and again go away.. she always look at us but never come, so we went away, coz we were starving.. and found much better restaurant!!
MoreSo fun! A night of dancing, singing, and interaction with the crowd during dinner! Loved it
MoreIts fun and loud and they want you to PARTICIPATE so go with that in mind and have a good time!
MoreThis place is wonderful! So much fun! Great crowd participation, great food! One of the highlights of our trip to Europe!
MoreService was slow and they didnt help with menu or tell you cook times. Once the food was dropped off the waitress never came back and our burner went out.
MoreWhat a fun saving with some great food! The Swiss folk show was well done, engaging, interactive and fun. The Fondue was tasty, but the sliced veal with mushrooms and cream sauce with Swiss potatoes was one of the best things I’ve eaten during my 10 day European trip! If you’re looking for a fun evening with a great meal, go here!
MoreAbsolutely lovely! the staff and entertainment were so welcoming. The fondue (cheese and chocolatewere delicious. Highly recommend the experience!
MoreVery nice atmosphere with great performance! Food was delicious
Amazing hospitality and delicious food and beer. We had the veal liver and sausage, the veal liver is a must try if you’re game enough! Dishes a bit on the salty side so wash it down with some nice cold beer. There is entertainment from 730pm, they are so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend the restaurant and experience.
MoreGo here for the music show and dinner!!! The music and culture show is a riot!! They bring people up on stage to participate. Two of the best ones are a chance to play the Alphorn & try yodeling. The yodeling competition was hysterical and the entire place was cheering and laughing. To top it off the yodeling contestants received a prize of automatic entry in a beer chugging contest!!😄 Make reservations!
MoreWe had a fun night at Stadtkeller. Great food and the Swiss Folklore show was a nice surprise and quite entertaining. There was live music, singing and some audience participation.
MoreIt was a fun-filled experience, we got a nice taste of Swiss culture & cuisine
Great place to take visitors. Definitely tourist oriented with the Swiss Folklore show but also saw a fair few locals enjoying themselves too.
MoreGood place for tourists!
If there is heaven on earth, it’s Swiss macaroni and cheese with caramelized onions, potatoes and applesauce! sehr sehr gut!!!
MoreOnly had tea and dessert. Very delicious. Love the live music. The Ellis Mano Band was playing. A Swiss band. Great guys! Big fan!
MoreGreat cozy place. We ate in the afternoon before a dinner crowd so it was quiet but the food was on fire! Loved my mac and cheese dish with applesauce. Its supposedly a Swiss favorite! My friends raved about their dishes as well.
MoreThis place was so much fun. The singing and dancing was great, with alot if audience participating in everything. The food was good too and I really liked the beer and Im not a beer drinker. Definitely visit this place it is so worth it
More$$$ for tomato soup and fondue plus still water pricing at 42 francs. Quaint place.
MoreLoved it. Food was good, but the main attraction is the Swiss music and dance with a lot of audience participation. Everyone in our group had a great time.
MoreThe place was packed with lots of tourists but the service was a thumbs up. They are organised and the show they put up was really entertaining. The food is good and the portions as well. The performers make sure that all the audiences are entertained. Its really fun when we visited. Theyre teaching us how to blow horn and to yodel which is very entertaining.
MoreAte here for a late lunch and the place was pretty empty. That being said, it was delicious. Fondue came with plenty of cheese and we were given refills of bread to dip. Meals were hot and fresh. No shows during the day, but definitely a nice spot to get off the busy streets.
Morenice food - nice entertainmentbut you may have to wait for almost 1 hrif there is a tourist groupand if youre an eastern culture peopleyou may shock to the western manner for somehow
MoreNice antique ambianceSwiss food is awesome. My wife love to taste liquid Swiss cheese here. It’s a Legacy... Must feel
MoreNice service and nice. You better reserve seats earlier as it usually full at night.
MoreThis restaurant has an amazing show where the bands showcases all swiss instruments and many traditional songs. The food is good but not amazing. Service is top. Great place to visit if you only have a few days in Switzerland or if you like to party.
MoreA real tourist place. Show was fun if youve had a few drinks. Food average.
Great place to stop for a beer on a hot day. Find the little corner pub and belly up, order a beer and enjoy the ‘interesting’ paintings. Also, be sure you can tolerate a little smoke
MoreInteresting evening. There was folk singing, an opportunity to hear and see, and even try playing, the gigantic Swiss Alpine horns, and hear and see some other Swiss instruments; the cow bell, the saw player, the accordion. We learned how the coin spinning bowl works, heard a choir of water bottles, the broom song, and other household equipment items that can make music. There was a talented performance of flag throwing, too.But the show would not be complete without dinner: The famous Cheese Fondue served with soft bread, the Swiss Rosti (a potato dish similar to hash browns only better), veal in mushroom gravy, and chocolate fondue with fresh fruit. It was all very good. This was a very fun evening.Reservations are strongly suggested, especially for groups, as the restaurant fills quickly and the show is popular with tour groups. Not suggested for small children, as it gets crowded, loud and busy. The program is family friendly and feels like one is visiting around a Swiss table in a family home.Be prepared to demonstrate your abilities on stage: audience volunteers are chosen for trying the Alpine horn and even dancing. The wait staff is attentive and keep the food moving so that dining moves seamlessly before and after the show.
MoreWonderful food and show. Very natural presentation. Traditional meal and folk song and entertainment. Really enjoyable and worthwhile.
MoreA grand time! Singing, yodeling, alpenhorns, waltzes, polkas..... Good beer, good friends, good food. Service was fast and efficient but I think theyve done this before! Traditional veal was excellent. a fun evening. Top it off with a beer outside along the river.
