StableStop in Akureyri

Anna, the owner of the stables and property, took me for a horse ride and it was wonderful. She is lovely and we had a lot of fun. This was a mesmerizing experience Ill kepp forever. I totally recommend her to go horse riding in Iceland, if you are somewhere close to Akureyi (its about 20 minutes by car away from Akureyri)Thank you Anna :)

StableStop was a pleasant surprise. We were travelling along the ring road after staying in Akureyri for a few days and decided that it would be nice to go horse riding. Called several places but they weren’t able to accommodate 2 of us.Happened to find StableStop on Google, spoke to Anna-Marie, the owner, saying that we were 15 minutes away, and she readily ‘took us in’! Anna runs a very welcoming horse riding experience that is suitable for all levels. Be prepared to experience breath taking scenery in this wonderful corner of Iceland. Anna has lots of stories and anecdotes to share adding an extra layer of adventure to your ride!

I had an amazing experience riding with Anna María at StableStop. There were stunning 360 views of the snow-capped mountains and the horses were lovely! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Iceland!

Everything was just perfect! Emma was so helpful and nice! And of course Nero the dog was lovely. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Emma was absolutely amazing in accomadating us last minute for an unbelievable horse ride in the forest looking out onto the snowy mountains and river. We got mountains, rivers and forest all in one ride. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. Didnt want it to end. Emma shared so much information with us both about the horses, the surrounding areas, Iceland itself and shared some personal stories which really made the ride unique and personal. She made us feel super safe and comfortable as well as allowing us the leisure to soak up the beauty of the surrounding area. We got to try walk, trot and canter. Cant forget about Nero the beautiful border collie dog who loves attention and his belly scratched. It was beautiful to have him join us on the trip. It really felt natural and non touristy. I cant not thank Emma enough she truely is a super star and so easy to talk to. I would also like to thank the staff who we called and emailed last minute. They were super responsive and helpful in making this dream come true. Thank you so much.

Stable Stop is wonderful! The landscape around the farm is breathtaking and all the horses are just amazing! Thank you for the riding tour. I would definitely recommend to book a riding trip on Stable Stop!!!

I hate giving bad reviews, however, I feel it is necessary. We booked with Stable Stop before the pandemic. Like everyone, we were forced to cancel our plans because of the travel restrictions. I asked Anna for a refund, she said she couldn’t figure out how to do it. I suggest giving us a credit for future use for the following October (not knowing if they were in financial difficulties because of the pandemic). She agreed to this option. When October came, Iceland’s border were still closed. I asked for a refund at this time. She just ignored my several emails. I reached out to her again in July 2021 to use our arranged credit because we had an up coming trip in early August 2021, but she ignored my emails again. I tried to be sensitive not know if they were facing hardship, but she just completely refused to communicate with me. If you have booked with Stable Stop and you think you might need a refund, get it in writing or dispute the charge with your credit card company. I wish I had disputed the credit card charge, but I trusted Anna at her word…that was a mistake. I really wish things were handled differently. Buyer beware. If you want a wonderful Icelandic horse experience try Polar Hestar (ask for Selenaor Lava Horses. Sadly, Stable Stop was the only company we had negative experience with. All other vendors gave us a credit and we rebooked with all of them.I would not have given you a bad review if you had given us our money back or honored our credit!

I came to stablestop on coincidence and it was definately the highlight of my Holiday.Anna Maria took us on a 1,5-2 hour ride and I just loved it. After our ride, Anna Maria invited us for coffee and cake. We really enjoyed it and we felt very welcomed.As I own an icelandic horse myself, it has always been a childhood dream to go riding in Iceland, with those great Horses, surrounded by a beautiful landscape and a local Person to chat with. Stablestop is the right place to do that. I will definately come back!

We had a great time here riding horses! Anna was super nice and considerate of what we needed. Spent a good half an hour riding in the mountains. Definitely worth trying out!

Went for an amazing horseback ride through the Icelandic countryside. The horses were stunning, and so well trained. Wished we booked a longer trail ride! Our guide Anna was so friendly. Highly recommend!

It was my first time horse riding and I had so much fun riding the horse and taking great pictures that I couldnt have captured from the street. The owner was very friendly and considerate. I would definitely book it again if I come back to Akureyri!

Best Riding Tour I had in Iceland! I went on the half day tour and it was so worth it. The horses are so nice and sweet and the guides were great and so polite and nice.

I had an amazing time with my family at StableStop. Great calm horses for the kids and good horses for us more experienced ones. We went through beautiful routes and loved every minute of the trip.

Anna was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting her horses, dog, cat, and family! She was great to communicate with, picked us up in Akureyri because we didn’t have a car, and she gave us a real taste of winter in Iceland. Had a great time. Highly recommended. Thanks Anna!

Amazing place to go riding on a nice horses

Extraordinary, would choose this over big companies/groups anytimeIt was just the two of us me and my friend and our guide we absolutely loved it. Our ride was supposed to be 1 hour ride, but the whole experience ended up being longer. We pet the horses got nice coffee and cake, had a nice chat with the family members and pet the cat and the dog at the farm they where so friendly ❤.unbelievably beautiful. Granted, the weather that day was perfect, no rain and not much wind either.

Stable stop have a great farm and great horses for riding. I found it great for beginners and advanced.

I had the best experience with Stable Stop. There horses are amazing and well looked after and the guides and family who run it and fun and welcoming. I learnt a lot and had a great ride with them. I highly recommend them.
