Very great hotel at a very good price! Pretty quiet even if Close to town
This place is not the greatest, extremely rude stuff at the front desk/extremely expensive, as well always discrimination against people with disabilities…
Staff was friendly and welcoming, walking distance to many places, great for short stays downside wasn’t able to control my own air temp in my room but overall had a great experience and would go back in the future
Supper clean, good location and comfortable accommodation
The price is good, rooms were furnished well and large. It was a great find.
Stayed for one night at the Governors Hall Summer Hotel. I have stayed at this residence for at least half a dozen times since 2018. While I wont direct my negative reviews towards their front line staff or the cleanliness of the hotel, I direct this more towards their upper management. Approximately 9:30 PM into the evening, a fire alarm went off. Although understandable, it wasnt until after 10:20 PM that we were let in. There was no fire or firetrucks. Apparently, a false alarm. The wait was due to an electrician needing to arrive to fix the system.Approximately 2:00 AM, the alarm went off for a brief 5-10 seconds. By then, I was up for another hour before I could sleep again. I contacted the St.FX staff via Expedias messaging system to seek some sort of minor resolution for these inconveniences. It appears they read it but have not replied.I dont know what makes me more upset, the false alarms going off, or the dismissive response.
Pros: Beautiful area to stay. University campus is a tourist attraction itself. The room is very clean and comfortable. Netflix. Stuff is very helpful, nice, organized and well informed about local places and directions.Cons: had issues with the AC. Vent is located right next to the bed and stream of cold air heads directly on you. Stuff tried to help, but apparently ventilation on the 1st floor is centralized and can’t be controlled. We tucked the vent with the towel and it helped.Stil worth it. Would stay again, but would book another floor.
We brought the family there last month for a week in a 2-bedroom suite. The hotel is in a good location and the price is definitely good. The accommodations are updated and the sleeping is fine, especially given the price. Two things we didnt like were: the "suite" set-up and the closure of the pool. We had booked expecting the pool to be open. Our bad, perhaps, for not calling to confirm that the site indicated the pool was open. It was disappointing for the kids, mainly (4 and 5). The biggest problem was the lack of space to eat or sit - the "suite" consisted of a hallway with a fridge and microwave. There was just no real space for us to sit and play or eat as a family, primarily when raining outside. There are nice communal spaces but with COVID, everything was not available for eating. Kids of this age eat all the time. The communal kitchen space was nice even, but without being able to use the table and chairs there wasnt much point in using it if the kids are just going to make a mess on the carpet our the room because there was nowhere to eat. Seriously, there was 1 chair per room and a desk. We had expected something closer to a hotel-style 2-bed unit with a common space where you could gather and play a board game or eat. Even an outdoor, covered patio that folks could eat on would be great. With the COVID rules in place, it just wasnt very conducive to having kids there. Id like to give a higher rating but this did put a bit of strain on our trip.
Nice place and very clean rooms. However, the AC wasnt working in our suite. There was a switch on the wall but it wasnt turning on the system. We have to end up rolling up the window to cool the room down. When I told the front desk about this issue, the only option they offered was to provide us with a fan. I paid for air conditioning in my room and I was expecting nothing less.
First rate inexpensive accommodation
Helpful staff and lovely rooms, and a beautiful campus! Better than a hotel any day.
Very clean but the beds were terribly uncomfortable. The shower was leaking and lacked pressure. Staff were very friendly.
Clean and comfortable but too expensive for what you get
Very nice place to stay.
Very nice buildings. Entrance makes a statement. Rooms very clean and big. Everything you need is there. Staff is very helpful.
One of the best universities I have been at
Love it. Very clean and very helpful people.Awesome.
great room and price, full size fridge. very clean and easy to access
It was a great location to host our Games! The staff were friendly, the amenities modern. Those residences converted for the summer really make you feel like you are in a hotel!
Convenient and great spot for multiple people staying together. Make use of the common spaces!
The location was perfect. We were there for a wedding which was directly across the street. The facilities were clean and comfortable. The check out time was terrible. Had to out by 10am no exceptions. Yet another guest was given until 11am. 10am after a wedding the night before is not exceptable. The inconsistency was bot exceptable.
Great place to stay, very nice great staff. My second stay, love the place.
Staying here for the Special Olympics National Summer Games right now and am very impressed. Very clean. Staff is very friendly. Its incredibly hot right now and the air conditioning is a lifesaver. Spacious rooms and big bathrooms. All around a great experience.
Great visit. Clean, free parking. No breakfast
Very nice rooms! Loved being back!
Brings me back to the student days, but with much better accommodation. Great savings as well!
Beautifully kept grounds
Peaceful loved it. It is a university dorm.
Small rooms but bed was comfortable.
Beautiful hotel and great facilities!
