Gothic-era, now-Lutheran church with stained glass windows, paintings & a hefty pipe organ.
Very impressive
Romanesque-gothic church
Absolutely loved the mittagmuzik, I wish I lived here so I could go to every one
So beautiful church! So big !
Lovely church with superb architecture, beautifully decorated.
A wonderful historic church with a nice mass service. Shame about the endless globalized tourist traffic with videos and cameras treating it like a museum, but thats not at all their fault.
This church is incredible. There are so many tiny details all over the statues and paintings, you genuinely have to see it for yourself as photos just dont do it justice. A lot of beautiful gold accents, artfully carved details, and beautiful paintings. This is one of our favorite churches so far!
Wonderful and powerful experience visiting that church. Highly recommended
Wonderful place
Beautiful and rich history.
Interesting history and architecture, love the snails carrying the sarcophagus, the obvious difference between Gothic and High-Gothic architecture and the little bend in the axis.
There really arent words. It is fantastic
Beautiful church to visit but not a lot of information about the history of the place.
Walking distance from Nuremberg Station or the town centre. For you to fully enjoy this church you need to learn about its history.Stunning and worth a visit.
Nice place where u can see and feel how Germany was reconstructed after WWII.
Very nice church, free admission.
From an inside visit POV, this church is vastly superior to the one in the square (though that one is worth an outside visit at least). You get such a sense of the vastness of the space with the vaulted ceilings, the windows, and the massive pipe organ. The artwork everywhere is incredible. It is truly awe inspiring, worth every moment you choose to spend here. I got lucky and came back after it was "officially" closed, in time to hear someone practicing on the organ. What a treat! Dont know if its a regular occurrence. This place is a great visit either way; try to work it in as you cross the city center from one attraction to the next!
Great church
Was a small fee to enter, absolutely gorgeous architecture and I will be updating with pictures later. I have pictures of something that no one else captured and I think it should be displayed and posted more. Don’t miss out and visit now!
A quiet place where I got to know the local art, religious traditions. I enjoyed architecture of this significant building, located just in the heart of the city.
The entrance of the church is facing away from the main road. We stopped by a place for lunch nearby and I had a quick look at the front of the church. It has a really nice crucifix out front. There are also two bell towers with doors under each. I didnt have time to have a look inside but the outside was quite nice. The back of it was also interesting with a carving that is visible from the main road.
Old town area in Nurnberg and old magnificent church
St. Sebald - Sebalduskirche Nürnberg is a medieval church in Nuremberg, Germany. Along with Frauenkirche (Our Ladys Churchand St. Lorenz, it is one of the most important churches of the city, and also one of the oldest. It is located at the Albrecht-Dürer-Platz, in front of the old city hall.
Sebalduskirche (St. Sebaldus Churchis a medieval church in the St. Sebald District in the Old Town. Dedicated to the Patron Saint of Nuremburg, this is one of the most important churches in the city. Opening hours are 9.30am to 6pm daily. There is a suggested donation of 2 euro per person for those who visit. The church history dates back to at least the early 13th-century when construction began on a Romanesque style building. Gothic additions to the church were made in the 14th and 15th centuries. Unfortunately, St. Sebaldus was heavily damaged during WWII bombing and had to be restored. We enjoyed the front towers of St. Sebaldus as well as the Gothic exterior features on the north side of the church. Within, you find tall and narrow nave with ceiling vaults. The high altar is attractive, as are the artworks, sculptures and stained glass windows which can be viewed within the church interior.A particularly interesting find is the shrine of St. Sebaldus. This is a delicately created monument, the work of Peter Vischer the Elder and his sons (1508-1519). This is worth finding and spending a few minutes to view and enjoy.Overall, St. Sebaldus is a must-see attraction in Nuremburg if you enjoy seeing old churches and are a fan of history and architecture. It also makes a good complement to St. Lorenz south of the Pegnitz River as well, another church that you should make time for to see.
Like all other churches, cathedrals, and chapels built in early history, youre surrounded with artworks including the structure itself built by hands for hundreds of years...worth a visit and be awed by handbuilt work.
I have been in bigger cathedral free of charge, I dont know why they charge 2 Euros per entrance. Its very beautiful,.
Very beautiful cathedral.
A bit more impressive on the outside than on the inside, but nice overall experience and the gothic architecture of the church is a nice view. Thursdays and Saturdays there is guided tours for the tower.
Main historical cathedral of the city. The clock chimes at 12 noon and you get to see the figurines move and ring the bells.
So close to the city center that you must go into this church. It is beautiful and the flying butches are spectacular and so is the stained glass. Also make sure you get some time to visit the Christmas store on the other side of the river.
Protestant church in the alt city quarter of nuremberg , openning hours 9:30-17:0 0, mixed old and modern architecture , hightlight Jesus christ on cross at the window outside building.
Very nice place! Been there at the blue night! Nice atmosphere!
Nicely renovated Romanesque-Gothic church, which was almost destroyed during the World War II.
Old and beautifulWe reach at closing timeMust be beautiful from inside too
Beautiful stained windows and some sculptures. The restoration was not very gentle though and theres a lot of modern unsightly elements combined with the old, like the big organ.
A breathtaking marvel . One of the most beautiful churches in nurnberg with nice gothic archecture and a grand organ.
Nice Cathedral, a bit dark. So best pictures are at night or sunny morning.
Great old town, with first class beer
Probably the most impressive of Nürnbergs (manychurches. The short video display showing the evolution of the building is worth seeing. A lovely range of art and sculpture from different periods.
one of the most pristine and pious church I have ever seen. Beautiful , elegant , calming , spiritual and majestic all at the same time !
A monumental church. Definitely worth a visit inside. Apparently, during the last war a lot of the sacred art (e.g. figurines and stained glassfrom this and other churches was kept within a bunker complex beneath rocky castle hill.
This church is really amazing. When i entered, I sank into the calm feeling. I can feel the stories inside and be touched, even though i am a Buddhist.
Beautiful ancient Church.
Beautiful church with fantastic stained glass. Visit in the morning to get the full effects of the sun shining through.
Very peaceful church with English information inside
Beautiful church. One of the citys main attractions. Inside there are wonderful stained glass windows. It is to visit!
Beautiful church that was mostly rebuilt after World War II. Tour it for a look at the preserved stained glass windows, historic pictures of its destruction and reconstruction, and beautiful vaulted ceilings.
Beautiful church, but the backside of it seems a bit grim other than the lovely restaurant.
This Evangelich Church is the symbol of the city and need to be visit. Inside you can find guide in the most common european leanguage and thi could help tourist in understanding the place richness.
