St. Paul's Cathedral in Bongouanou

Some say it resembles an elephant, others a wave. I dont know what it resembles, but I do know its a building that takes you by surprise. From afar you only notice the huge concrete cross, but it is only when you get closer that you can see the rest of the building, with its organic lines, wooden doors, and slanted roof. It is very interesting. You could see from the outside that the stained glass was very unusual, with African motifs, but when you get inside, its midblowing! The colours and the bible scenes in an African context (so different from what one usually sees in Europe), are beautiful! I liked it so very much that I visited a second time and stayed for mass (Thursday, around 1:30 pm).

In one of these pictures, the Bay of Cocody is behind me. That bay is a beautiful stretch of water reminiscent of the Lagos Marina. The architecture between us though is a feast of the soul - an experience so moving that I feel the faculties of my soul floating; gently hovering over my body.

It is better in pictures than in reality. Full of people in an event without any single measure of protection against COVID.They want to go directly to heaven.

If you can, find a way to get inside the church and view the stained glass. It is absolutely beautiful.

Quiet place

Its a nice place to visit. Good architectural design and vicinity. Its also a very good tourist attraction for anyone who visits Abidjan. Its very quiet and serene here. It has large siting capacity for the worshippers. A large car park and other amenities. A nice place. Its free to go in here we didnt pay any toll which is nice.

Excellent modern building. The stained glass is breath taking. Singing is marvellous.

Architecture is a bit brutal, though interesting in a assertive afro-centric way, basically a nice, quiet place to walk around with some ok views toward Markory.

Signage could be optimized for a better experience and not having to ask ur way all the time. Long walk to the washrooms. Be prepared. Lol

Catholic Church in Abidjan. There is an English mass on Sundays, but is in the chapel across the courtyard. Also be prepared that the mass is about 2 hours long.

Catholic faith based place of worship, a serene and quite place to communicate with the devine.

Didnt go inside because there was a service, but it wasnt on par with other cathedrals that Ive visited.

They have a nice English community as well. You can always pass by if youre a foreigner from an English speaking country to fellowship with them
