St Isaac's Square, 4, St Petersburg, Russia, 190000, Asino
1818 Russian Orthodox cathedral & museum with gold-plated dome & an opulent, multicolored interior.
Great outstanding church in Saint Petersburg. You can as well go on top of it’s not super cold outside. Must visit!
St. Isaacs is still the worlds largest Orthodox Shrine (the bigger future one in Bucharest is not yet finishedand the fourth largest Cathedral in the world. It was built in 1858 by aristocracy funding in honor of Isaac the Dalmatian who was a patron saint of city founder Peter the Great. They didnt spare which is visible from outside and specially inside. The exterior is adorned with a huge golden dome (which later inspired the US Capitoland a total of 112 single hewn pink granite columns (you can see a movie and a model of building inside). The interior is simply amazing, so lavish and rich its hard to say whats more beautiful. As all others in Russia it was banned for religion during the Communist regime and converted into a museum. Interesting fact is that St. Pet citizens refused being a Church again on a referendum, so its still a museum (an outstanding onewith only occasional Church services. As in any museum theres an entry fee, with a separate fee if you want to climb the dome, which I strongly suggest for great views.
Awesome place to Visit everything is at it’s best . Must visit place when you visit Saint Petersburg
One of the best cathedrals Ive ever been to. Both exterior and interior of the cathedral are amazing. The interior paintings and engravings are unrivaled while you can enjoy the picturesque view of St. Petersburg from the top of the building. The price of the museum is 350 ruble and you have to pay additional 200 rub for audio guide and further 200 rub to climb to the top of the cathedral.
Beautiful interior and a lovely panoramic view from the Colonnade platform, highly recommended and the best thing to do in the city on a quick visit
Very nice view of the city from the top. Ticket price was 200rub (Sept 2021per person only for going to the top.

One of the most beautiful cathedrals ever. You can visit the museum which is the interior of the cathedral or simply climb up the stairs to the top and enjoy a 360 view of Peter. We did both and we loved it. A must if you visit the city
Beautiful crafted designed and amazing structure which engulfed you with its arts and design. Painting and pictures engraved on walls of church and now used as museum also.
One of the beautiful and historical palace in St. Petersburg. There are many young actors in the national costumes of Tsarist Russia. Never mind them. This is just a money trap))Take a ticket for roof tour. There you can see one of the best panorama of the city. Enjoy it))
Beautiful Cathedral. Did not get the chance to go inside but the majestic pillars and architecture is remarkable. The Cinderella style horse drawn carriages outside the cathedral are gorgeous. Would have loved to go to the top to get a view of the city.
This is an enormous cathedral and our guide said that it is alleged to be the heaviest building in St Petersburg; 300,000 tonnes. Not sure if they know the weight of the latest tall buildings.Inside are lots of works of art in the state museum. You can purchase a ticket to the top dome and get outside for pictures. Well worth it.Just across the road is the Astoria hotel which is well worth a coffee or a vodka. Brass plaques denote world leaders who stayed there.
St. Isaacs Cathedral, completed in 1858 was a Russian Orthodox cathedral until 1931, when it became a museum. It has a rich and interesting history and is a stunning example of Russian architecture and art. It has 112 red granite columns, each made from a solid piece of stone and they are magnificent. The interior features granite and marble from all over Russia and stunning artwork and mosaic work. It is a feast for the eyes and worth a visit.
St. Isaacs Cathedral is on St. Isaacs Square, used to be main Russian Orthodox Church. Now cathedral is a museum, but there are daily services in the mornings with the free admission. After 11 am the admission ticket is required to enter to the Cathedral and to the Collonade
This is worth a visit. Honestly spending time in the church isn’t much worth it. Some of the art is beautiful, but the dome is where to spend your time. The sights that you can see from up top are great. Beware, it can be quite windy and many people lost hats as soon as the made it to the top.
An impressive, majestic view of the city from the river side, a must-see point of view, you must enter the observation deck to enjoy the beautiful view of the city from above ❤
Definitely one of the most memorable and iconic cathedrals ever built! The inside is spectacular. Every corner is filled with art and gold. Simply breath-taking. Theres some stairs that take you all the way to the top and you have an impressive view of the surroundings too.In the entrance theres some machines where you can purchase your tickets. Theres likely to be a long line so go with time. You are allowed to take pictures inside.
Amazing architecture, attentive and successful restoration one of best charming cathedral in city you should join guided tours for local and tourist and of course you have to climb almost 200 steps for catching 360 degrees amazing city landscape 🌟👏🏼 ❤️
A fascinating cathedral with many angles statue around its building , if u are going there i highly recommend to get the ticket and go up there so u can get 360 view from the city its amazing .
It is considered as one the most sumptuous and grandiose of the churches of St. Petersburg. Completed in 1858, it is one of the most important neoclassical monuments of Russian architecture of the nineteenth century. It is located in the centre of the city, in the square of the same name, near Nevsky Avenue and the Hermitage Museum. It has one of the largest domes in the world and is the second highest Orthodox church in the world, 101.5 meters high, behind the Cathedral of Christ the Savior of Moscow that reaches 103 meters.Bring on the most beautiful location it gave me lots of photographs. Way too beautiful from inside. You are allowed to visit it from inside with a ticket of 400 rubles. If you are willing to watch city from its dome, yes you can but again it will cost you 400 rubles.
The colonnade walkway was a very good experience. 360 degrees stunning views of Saint Petersburg. Totally worthy. A place not to be missed on your visit to St. Petersburg.
Very beautiful building. You feel yourself in England or Germany near this building, the first reason I visited this building was film Brat where Sergey Bodrov was walking near it!
One of the most popular cathedral other than the saviour of the blood in St. Petersburg. You will need to purchase the ticket beside the building, Long queue and there’s so many tourist around. But the place is magnificent and beautiful.
The climb to the top gives the most gorgeous panoramic views of the city and the museum inside houses incredible works of art that simply take your breath away! The history of the cathedral is so interesting to read on the information board along with pictures from throughout time
Exquisite, magnificent, and amazeballs are just a few of the adjectives that immediately pops into mind when you enter this grand cathedral. The exterior is beautifully constructed with impressive detail. It is certainly high on the list of sites that any visitor of Saint Petersburg should visit.
One of the most beautiful Cathedral in St. Petersburg. From rooftop beautiful panoramic views of the St.Petersburg can be seen. In side the Museum beautiful architectural design. At one side, there was a video display how it was built. In front of the Cathedral nice terrace.
Wow! The museum is SO IMPRESSIVE. The atmosphere is magical and there is so much to see. Almost makes you feel small. When you climb the cathedral, which is not as exhausting as I expected, you get an amazing view. It can be a bit scary if you are afraid of heights like me but nevertheless the place is amazing.
Another beautiful cathedral closer to Nevsky avenue. You will find a few Indian restaurants, cafes and grocery stores in the vicinity of the Cathedral. It is opposite to big lawns of Bronze horseman. Entry ticket to the church is 200-250 rubles.Nearest Metro: Admiralteyskaya
If you wish to see one of the wonders of St. Petersburg, then there you go. One of the most beautiful landmarks and a 3D Balkon of the former Russian Capital. You will have a great sight of the Neva and more watch an amazing sunset. A convenient 400 Rubles ticket can get you upstairs if you are not a museum kind of person. Huge marble columns will make you astonished. You will clim 43 meters of stairs to get there.
Need to take separate tickets for climbing to roof and entry to cathedral. You should climb approx 250 steps. Costs ~180 Ruble for this. Entrance to cathedral costs ~350 Rubles. This is a must visit Cathedral in Saint Petersburg.
Didnt go inside the cathedral but did go up to the very top and i was IMPRESSED! the view from the top was breathtaking, definitely, definitely worth climbing up 250+ steps.Pro tip: go before the sun starts to set for a breathtaking golden hour.
Very beautiful and monumental cathedral. Only a shame as its become very tourists must do place. But at least one corner of church still protected for local people to pray and not allow to take pictures there but tourist as always dont respect it
Beautiful from the outside didnt go in but we went on the colonade which has amazing views but note you need to be able to climb, but there maybe a lift I saw some one up there in a wheelchair which is fantastic !! Beautiful bells ringing around 3.30pm !!
Spent almost 3 hours inside the cathedral. Its one of the largest cathedrals in the world and once your inside the grandeur of the place becomes apparentThe drawings and the stained glass windows are immaculate.a video showing how the massive pillars were put up is nice.absolute serenity when you visit. There is a large lawn outside which gives spectacular views of the cathedral from the outside.
Visit the Collonade only (the cheapest price for the ticket in the St Isaac Cathedral 300 Rub). Its around 300steps to the top and have a really narrow entrance for the last steps (people size 50 above maybe will not fit). The view is nice, however doesnt have any map on top to explain the sightseeing and the explanation audio (megaphoneis in Russian.
Very nice church that become a museum. The entrance fee is around 350 if you want to visit the top and 280 for the museum entrance. The top deserves a visit since you have a 360 view on st. Pete. Internally the history of its construction and the quantity of golden things will let u impressed.
This is a must visit in St Petersburg. It is still under renovation, but you can still enjoy the amazingly beautiful interior design of this biggest Cathedral in this city. It was built by Tsar Alexander I in 1801 and took 40 yrs to completed it. It was closed during Soviet Union era and the Rusia Federation government renovated it in after 1992. You can also attend an Eastern Optic services several time a day in the left wing of the church.
Definitely a must see in St Petersburg! The climb to the top costs 150 rubles and takes you up a spiral staircase where from the top you can walk around and get a great view of the city including many of the main landmarks. Make sure you include this in your St Petersburg tour!
This is an amazing cathedral. The murals are breathtaking and the architecture is captivating. I really loved wandering around in this beautiful building. I must have spent couple of hours in here.Make sure to go downstairs and upstairs. You have to see both. And also don’t forget to look up- that’s where all the action happens. Finally the lighting in this building is amazing. If you go at the right time of day, you can catch rays of light shinning though the dome into the building. I tried capturing that with my phone.
A great cathedral. Beautiful and very impressive both from the inside and the outside. You can also go up on the cupola. From there you can basically see the whole city. Highly recommended.
a very impressive church with all the details of the decor. a walk up to the dome gives breathtaking view of the city. but it’s unbelievable that a place that big, receiving so many tourists everyday cant be bothered to prepare toilets for the visitors.
Whats goodThis is among the best of Petersberg. The structure is gigantic and you are allowed to move to the attic.Whats not goodThe main church closes early. What to doView from attic is View to behold. Enjoy the artwork on the walls.
A very beautiful cathedral. I would recommend to go to its colonnade and enjoy the sunset from up above. The stairs are quite challenging, though. So prepare to be sweaty! It’s not suitable for anyone who has a heart/cardiovascular problem
A very imposing building which took 40 years to build. If you just walk around it, you catch a glimpse of the richness of the Russian Empire. The shrapnel marks left on the pillars shows something about the pain and death this city went through during the Second World War (Great Patriotic War).Climbing the stairs, if you are not afraid of heights, opens a nice vista on the city. Because the way the city was build, you can see very far, because you are higher than most buildings in the city. The inside is worth a visit as well. Dont miss out. Go and see it.
Amazing human’s made architecture . beautiful paintings on the walls & roof. every paintings had some interesting stories. lots of peoples all the time. Models describe how to build the cathedral. should spend more than 1 hour inside. suitable for everyone. should be quiet and don’t use flash when take a picture.
You should visit this place to see how the size of cathedral is enormous. Also inside, you could see many interesting things to see. Please be aware of the ticket for the cathedral and the observatory aren’t same. You have to pay additional charge for the ticket. The entrances are different. But totally worth it.
Remarkable art and details. Captivating atmosphere. There is a tower to go up from where you have birds eye view. From up there you can see main buildings of Saint Petersburg: Church of the Savior on Blood, Hermitage etc.
Such an impressive cathedral located in the most beautiful city of the world! The view is really amazing from here! Saint Petersburg is such an amazing and well-planified city.
Amazing! The price to go up to the top is super worth it! Spectacular views of the city all around! The stairs seem like a lot but its not that bad. I made it to the top with a baby strapped to me and it was actually pretty easy. This place is definitely worth spending some time at. I havent been to the museum, but its not that much more than going to the top and it looked pretty cool inside. The architecture is stunning.
Well worth the entrance fee. The interior is full of gorgeous marble and amazing frescoes. Trying visiting on a sunny day and make your way up to the rotunda for awe inspiring views of the city as well.
