St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral - also known as the Red Church of Indore is a holy shrine of the Catholic church, where people in large numbers gather to offer their prayers !!This Roman Catholic church in Indore was built in the 19th century, in 1892, to offer a religious place for the officers of the British army and their families !! Due to its Red colour, it got the name Red Church !! It is said that Red and White colours were very popular and had a lot of fame in those times and hence, it was decided that two churches would be built in Indore, one in Red and the other in White colour !!The Red Church was based on the British architecture !! And the other church, also built in this complex itself, is the White Church !! The artistic altar of the Red Church showcases paintings that detail the life of Christ !!The Christian community that used to serve in the British kings court and those who used to work in the trains running from Indore, used to serve here at the Red Church !!Later, the Christian community started settling in the vicinity of the church, and many British government (or East India Companysbuildings came up in the area, popularly known as the Residency Area, and which also had the famous Daly College, built by the British to educate the princes and princesses of Central India, in the British style !! The vicinity of the Red Church came to be known as Red Church Colony !! After this, the congregation of Red Church helped in building the St. Raphaels School for girls education, also in its vicinity, in the 1930s !! Then, a boys school St. Paul School, was also established, not too far from the church !!However, now, the Red Church of the 19th century is preserved only as a historical shrine, but another building - the St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, has been built in the complex, for prayers and celebrations !! And therefore, these two have become synonymous with one another !!

Not a very large chuch as churches go, but one of the most beautiful. It has a quiet atmosphere on normal days, and one can sit peacefully inside without any disturbance.Lovely architecture and well spaced-out, it has a welcoming ambience.It looks specially beautiful in the evenings.

One of a kind Church...The entrance was kinda small compared to the grand church.People are exceptionally welcoming and warm to me.The white church and red church residential area is absolutely beautiful.Although public transport was an issue.Still a must visit church even if you aint that religious.

Its maintained extremely well. Clean and green. You will feel at peace and a feeling of awe will surround you. This is the BEST Catholic Church Ive seen.

It is a place of worship and the solemnity in that place is so intense that you would like to sit there and pray and feel you prayers being answered. The Church is very beautiful.

The church of st. FRANCIS OF ASSISI also known as Red church is a wonderful place of faith and belief. The church has the adoration chapel, burial place for the priests and a church. Its located in the heart of city. We can find st. Raphaels girls secondary school in front of the church.

Went to this place on the Christmas eve and let me tell you that it was amazing.Lighting and decorations were beautiful. It was a really good experience to listen to the carols and celebrate the Christmas.Wow, quite an experience I must say.

Beautiful church , actual name of the church is St Francis Assisi cathedral , every Sunday there are masses in Hindi and English languages. Hindi in morning and English in evening

One of the best looking church. Really beautiful from the inside as well. WOW. And around the back where the kitchen staff is (I feel goosebumps saying this coz I m very excitedthere is person named George Kutty who makes the best tastiest fruitcakes ever they all year round and during Christmas they have a even better coz of a year full of fermented dry fruits. I ordered at least 8 to 10 cakes a year. They are that tasty.

The RED Church is a landmark point in ENTIRE INDORE CITY. Situated in the heart of the city, this is one of the very important religious place for Christian community. As is with CHURCHES THIS ALLOWS FAMILY FUNCTIONS WITHIN THE PREMISES. It has a spanning frontal area besides the building for a large gathering of may be 500 - 700 people. The premises is well maintaines neat and clean , tidy always.

It is not a sightseeing place. Please avoid going inside if you are non catholic. They are not allowing to go inside church for non catholic. If you want you can see it from outside. There is no parking on roadside to go inside church but you can inform security on gate. Structure of church is good entirely in red colour. Good colours of flowers were there.

It feels great to blow candles during Christmas.... Its a clean place... This catholic church is very old... But still beautifull... Sometimes the guard does not behave properly.. They dont let you sit and pray for few minutes.

Faced religious discrimination for the first time in my life. Was sitting inside church to see Christmas Eve preparation, and church security guard Lorence called me and asked for my religion, and said "yahan aake faaltu mat baitho". I took the issue to two sisters, and they also let it go.So much for the name of Red Church.It would have been fine with me if he has realized that what he said is wrong, and apologized.

One of the few Historic Churches of Indore. Situated very close to the Central Indore. Surrounded by lots of greener. A serene spot amidst wild Traffic and honking. Must spend some time here if you are peace loving and like Old Churches. An ancient structure and located in the heart of the city it is to be seen and visited. Once inside the church it is absolute calm and the aura really soothes the mind and a prolonged sitting really soothing the nerves. Quiet and peacefull.
