St. Stephen’s Tavern is a wonderful Iconic traditional English Pub to grab a beer and and some good ole Fish ‘n Chips or English Steak Pie after visiting Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and House of Parliament. Prices are decent and the staff is friendly. It was established in 1875 and is one of six pubs around Parliament. Known Prime ministers to frequent the pub include Winston Churchill, Stanley Baldwin and Harold Macmillan. Gorgeous views of Big Ben and the House of Parliament. It’s at the Westminster Tube stop. The pub still has the original division bell which rings, warning MPs that there are only a few minutes to vote. I highly recommend stopping in for a beer!

Great service and food, but the interior had limited seating. Had the Fish and Chips on a lunch break - very good and reasonably priced given the location.

The fish and chips was good, the chips we had were really thick and not really nice. When we wanted to pay the waiter put the terminal in front of us and walked away. In my opinion that was kind of rude. I think that if i got a fishburger and chips at mcdonalds and removed everything form the fishburger except the fish and the sauce it would be a better quality fish and chips and I wouldn’t be treated rude. The bar looked very pretty and beautiful but thats mainly it.

Only stopped for a quick glass hense i cant realy fully appraise it. First time there. The decor is impressive I hope its the original gin palace furnishings. Its certainly looks the part. We didnt have any food but many were. It was busy to the point of having to que for the toilet. Staff were pleasant enough and there were a fair selection of drinks. Pop in even for a swift one to check out the decor

Had a wonderful dinner here of fish and chips in a pub setting just across from Parliament Square. Sat next to a couple who had just arrived from San Diego! Good service and great food!

Delicious fish and chips and great selection of beer.We ordered Badger Bitter, Tangle Foot, and Fursty Ferret. Tangle Foot was perfect for me since I am not into Bitter or Fursty which was amber ale.The chips (frieswere crispy yet soft in the middle. And the fish was a generous portion fried to perfection. One of the best fish and chips ever. Not greasy, just delicious, light, flaky fish and crispy batter on the outside. A must try when in London! Small, quaint pub! It seemed as if everyone ordered the fish and chips! The aroma at the door will invite you to come on in!

Looking for a traditional 19th century pub a stone’s throw from Big Ben? Look no further! St Stephen’s Tavern opened in 1875 in the French Renaissance style and has lost none of its olde world charm. Even Churchill used to sup a pint of ale here.Choose from the main ground floor bar (it can seem deceptively small at first, but continues to the backor soak up the atmosphere looking down from gallery seating upstairs. Alternatively step out of the side entrance and drink in the dramatic shadow of Big Ben.The pub takes its name from St Stephens Chapel in the nearby Palace of Westminster and still has the original “division bell” alerting visiting MPs that they have only a few minutes to vote in on-going debates.Well worth a quick stop for a pint or lunch in the heart of Westminster. If you found my review or photos helpful please leave a quick thumbs up 👍 Thank you!

Looove this place! Discovered it in 2012 during my first trip to the UK and it’s right near Big Ben. I had a really good fish and chips dinner upstairs. Classic British pub atmosphere. If you’re visiting London visit this tavern. (The Anchor Tavern is a must too!)

Gorgeous, quintessential pub - stellar fish and chips - only gets the four stars for serving canned peas.Hey St Stephens - you are in the midst of it all - you can do fresh peas xo

Not changed much since visiting 12 years ago. Right outside Big Ben. Surprisingly not too busy considering the location. Food was ok and not eye wateringly expensive.

I loved thistypical British pub. Just outside Westminster station. It was busy for a Sunday late afternoon, but not enough to be overwhelming and not be able to find a table or chat.Staff was amazing, and I took my elderly father and was so pleased with how looked after he felt.Thank you all. It was the first drink out since my mum died and managed to make my dad have a good time

Burger and fries £15.20. Really! Of course I could have not ate there or complained but was on a tight schedule. Went to cut the burger and was so tough! Not juicy. I think it must have been microwaved. Rip of as they have tourists to cater for who will never return. Staff were great though 5 stars for them

We sat upstairs and were served by a lovely gentleman. Even when they closed the upstairs dining room we were allowed to stay which was so kind and lovely. A quiet oasis in the midst of the hudlt and bustle.

I was super excited to see Buckingham Palace during the Queens Platinum Jubliee. While we did not see her, the Castle is large, but not like youd picture a castle. Looks more like a parliament buildingThe Beefeaters were on guard, of course. It was very cool!

Beautiful building and interior is stunning, classical lighting and old fashion look just how every ild pub in london should be.Had one drink and left. Just seem no atmosphere not even any low music it was just silent apart from the crowd in there. Found dirty underwear in the toilets and no tissue and also the flooring in the toilet was dangerous, seemed like the flooring underneath was going.Trying to get out that turning was hard with about 3-4 bicycle carriages blocking it trying to get customers.

Came in for a quick bite to eat. Thank goodness we got there just in time. Even though the bar stays open late. The kitchen closes at 9pm.Great views of Big Ben from the front dining area. Service was friendly and efficient. Had the double burger and fish and chips. Fish and chips were not soggy or soaked in grease. It was light and fresh. And, Ive eaten a lot of fish and chips on the Oregon Coast.

This (despite locationIs THE quietest pub I have ever stepped foot in.Lovely staff. No coca cola original and no fresh juice? The food is 100% reheated because my mash looked as f it had been decanted from another dish. With a hard/crunchy edge. I would also think again about putting a party of 3 for food, on a table meant for 1.

Tourist trap. Ordered two items, only received one; they were out of 4 other menu items. Lager was good, but the cask ale was nearly flat and barely cool. The description says it’s a hangout for MPs…that’s a laugh. Try something a little further away from Westminster if you’re looking for good beer and authentic atmosphere.

Lovely food, we went for the chicken burgers. Nice meal, good portions and a nice place to relax. You can sit in or outside to enjoy your food. Its reasonably priced considering you are right next to big Ben, boat rides and Parliament Square. We got two burgers and two pints for just over £40. Staff are polite and helpful!

Full stars for the service,Full stars for the food delivery, within 10mins (ordered around 8.15pm)Full stars for the environment and ambience.1 star for the fish and chips. Taste thawed and not fresh, chips under cooked, tartar not bad, pea paste is ok.3 stars for Beef pie as it is normal, oven baked pie, tastes a bit of wine (not very sure if any). Overall not bad. But it did not have the wow effect.Over total damage $37 for 2.I heard they serve good beer. Maybe I will try it next time if we visit London again,The toilet is located in the basement, kinda slippery and dirty. But maybe at the end of the day hence they didnt have time to clean it up.Outside having a drinking and smoking area, you can enjoy the Big Ben scenery while chilling. Prime location with beer and good scenery.

An oft overlooked little gem on Westminster bridge. Fine beer and helpful staff, made to look very Victorian. Sherlock Holmes used to be a regular and even Dr Watson would pop in for the odd Badger bitter or two. A good place to call in for a pint or some Fish and Chips!

This is a very decent traditional pub right across from parliament and the Thames. We has a burger and pork pie, both of which were tasty, but not exceptional. The prices are very reasonable. The walls also have lots of politics related antique decor and memorabilia.

Building has clearly been here since the 1960s, staff are very kind and generous. Food looks fantastic and a real old school English vibe here in the day. Ordered a couple of beers on tap, came to just over £11. Fairly hidden away but cosy inside.

Great food. The pie with steak was the favorite of our group but everything tasted great. I had the Earl Grey tea and it was perfect for a rainy day. We initially thought it was going to be a tourist trap because of the locations and the prices but everything tasted good. Our server was also very nice although they forgot one of our teas at the beginning of the meal.

Great service and atmosphere. The prices are a bit high.. Ordered fish at chips for £14. It was good enough seeing but if you ask me whether it was worth it, my answer will be no. Ive had fish and chips at the Gateway Casino in London Ontario, and that was much better tasting fish and chips than this tavern. And it was only CAD10 , which is about £5. I guess its because its next to Buckingham palace. Will I come back, yes, but not for iconic fish and chips.

I have been here a few times now and the food is excellent! The Sunday roast is absolutely amazing. Its in an amazing location right across the street from Big Ben and Parliament. It is rather small so accommodating large parties might be tricky. You can usually walk in and be seated right away for small groups. Even though it was packed, our food came pretty quickly. I highly recommend it.
