St Patrick's Catholic Cathedral - Catholic cathedral in Omagh, United Kingdom
beautiful and peaceful place. Lovely structure and well preserved architecture inside the cathedral.
Absolutely beautiful lovely place.
Amazing place and as a piece of architectural art, its on par with anything in Rome.
Stunning Cathedral inside with beautiful grounds.
Such a beautiful church and lovely grounds. The view of the town below was breath taken. The stain glass windows were the best I have ever seen. So many little details all over the church.
The most beautiful church Ive ever been to. I loved it here. Did not want to leave. These photos I have added do not do it justice.
Very impressive building and decor
Beautiful church.Lovely atmosphere.Peaceful.
When God was giving out the Cathedrals in Armagh. He decided that the Catholics were getting the best one.The Romans could have learnt a thing or two from the magnificent mosaic tiling.
Them preists give a fantastic mass. Praise the lord jesus.
One of Armaghs two historic Cathedrals. St. Patricks Roman Catholic Cathedral has to been seen in person to admire its splendour.
Unexpectedly amazing...the stain glass windows, the artistry, the architecture...just splendid. You read it was finished in the early 20th century and think it must be fairly plain and modern looking....nope. It felt like we were in a much older church. Well worth the stop!
One of the most beautiful cathedrals in North of Ireland!
Beautiful peaceful place. Well worth a visit.
Stunningly beautiful. Every inch of the place has detail.
Impressive, in a commanding location above the town. Not at the level of say Ely cathedral or other older cathedrals, but still worth checking out.
Beautiful and Majestic Cathedral with an imposing elevated presence towering over the historical ecclesiastical capital of Ireland which is the City of Armagh.
Have been to it many time throughout my life, beautiful location, amazing architecture both outside and in.
The most stunning gothic cathedral Ive been in, so breathtaking
I visited St Patricks Catholic Cathedral in Armagh today and it was a most enjoyable experience. The Cathedral is well sign posted in Armagh and is easy to locate. There are car parking spaces at the rear of the Cathedral. The Cathedral has two spires and has a row of steps that lead up to the main entrance to the Cathedral. As you enter the Cathedral the thing that draws your attention straight away is the alter and sanctuary. It is beautiful. It is extremely colourful and ornate clad in gold. There are also lots of beautiful stained glass windows in the Cathedral. In the stained glass window behind the sanctuary is a depiction of St Patrick and the fawn.I would recommend a visit to St Patricks Catholic Cathedral in Armagh in Northern Ireland.
A majestic cathedral has gathered clergy and history! I was pleasantly fascinated by my visit there. Amazing view of the city from above.
The gracious place you will never forget if you have visited once.... Had the blessed holy communion
Magnicent place, The perfect place for a prayer of just a bit of meditation.
One of the ancient church at Armagh, a quite place to spend your spiritual time.HistoryChurch was built in various phases between 1840 and 1904 to serve as the Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Armagh, the original Medieval Cathedral of St. Patrick having been appropriated by the state church called the Church of Ireland at the time of the Irish Reformation.Mass times: Monday to Friday 10:00, Saturday Vigil at 19:00; Sunday at 09:00, 11.00 and 17:30.Car parking and toilet facilities available. No pass required for the entry.
The cathedral was very easy to find and access. You could sit and reflect or pray as you chose.
Absolutely stunning and breathtaking Cathedral. A must visit, when coming to Armagh City.
Very nice the architecture is stunning well worth the visit
Hard to imagine a more beautiful, well lit cathedral for a wedding. Stunning.
Dear Archbishop Eamon you are correct about the chapels getting shut we will pray that the holy spirit will guide in your conversation with the other church leaders 🙏
One of the many gems to see in Armagh city. Its worth seeing inside when the lights are on, especially during the dark winter evenings. Has a handy 5.30pm sunday evening mass.
The updates to this Church have been recently quite tasteful. The previous post Vatican two altar has hopefully been reduced to builders rubble. The present incarnation is both tasteful and in keeping with the rest of the building. Post Covid theres gel and alternate pews. I can pass no comment on the Mass or how forgiving confession is these days. As a tourist attraction its worth a look. Its a tidy big Church, alas it will never be a vast medieval monster, the like of which you will see in England or the Continent. Still pretty inside. Marvel at the suspended Cardinal hats. The new statue of Saint Oliver Plunket is quite striking and in keeping with its environs. Obviously this Church will appeal to some and not others but its in good shape these days and worth a look.
Stunning inside and out. Well worth a visit. Easy acess and lots of parking too. Wonderful views across the city.
Very nice place, amazing architecture
Feel so privileged to have this wonderful place on my doorstep. A place of peace and tranquility in our troubled world. Praise the Lord.
Lovely church. Dont miss the red Cardinal hats hanging from ceiling
This is one of the most beautiful and interesting cathedrals I have visited. Although set high on a hill there is a road up to the cathedral which makes access easy for those who cannot make the steep climb up the steps at the front. Well worth a visit.
Fantastic Roman Catholic cathedral if you like Gothic, ornate religious architecture which I do not like but can appreciate! Lacks sufficient historical explanation. As with all these cathedrals impossible to pray in if you are a believer. Make sure to visit the Church of Ireland Normanesque cathedral for a better cultural and religious experience where you can definitely also pray!
My first visit to northern island for graveyard sunday we visited the cathedral on monday the 1st of july 2019 what a beautiful building my breath was taken away at its beauty
Its a pleasure to visit and a iconic cathedral with lots of services going on and its great to meet archbishop Eamon Martin who makes you feel more than welcome..
I can not describe by word how beautiful cathedral is so you need to see by yourself.
Definitely worth visiting along with the Church of Ireland Cathedral
Beautiful cathedral. Peaceful and prayerful. Fantastic choral music on the evening we were there.
Stayed in Armagh for a few nights , its true what they say about this being a town full of impressive churches, this possibly being the most impressive of the bunch. I can only vouch for the outside as the evening was late and was all closed up. The Cathedral, although smaller than most others that you would class as Cathedrals.Grounds are pleasant enough to walk around, although no flat, the Church is perched upon a hill, so that the town can look up and worship the true majesty of the Lord , with the steps of attrition leading up to worship .... cor religion , its so full of itself , if it wasnt for the buildings Id have nothing to do with it !
I am a frequent world traveler, and this is maybe the most beautiful church I have ever been in. The mosaics are so plentiful and detailed. Situated on top of a hill, it is truly stunning. Mass was beautiful, and the tour was interesting and informative, if a bit dry. Armagh is probably my favorite spot along the St. Patrick Trail.
A very impressive building and the artwork in the ceiling is particularly worth checking out. Lots of lost stories about Irish saints hidden up there. There is no doubt but that the building was designed to impress. It is set on a hill surveying the surrounding countryside. As was typical in the 19th and early 20th centuries it is a neo-Gothic design.
A beautiful cathedral of neo gothic architecture. The exterior is a little plane for gothic, the interior is magnificent with mosaics from top to bottom and the high altar is new deviating from its original design. The location is fantastic with a good city view.
Beautiful St. Patricks Catholic Cathedral on a hill. Much nicer than the Anglican St. Patricks on the other side of town that used to be a Catholic Cathedral before Henry VIII took it over.
A beautiful cathedral inside out, can be seen for miles.
A stunning building set in beautiful grounds. The cathedral sits almost serenely on a hill projecting calm across the city.
Not bad. If youve got people in wheelchairs itll be a struggle getting up to it. Nice inside if a bit small. Expected it to be bigger.
