Always a wonderful meal, prepared by Chef Goran. A welcome spot in the neighbourhood, clean and affordable. Breakfast is great, but I love the liver ‘n’ onions special on Tuesday nights! Mmmm! 😋

We had a great experience here! The food was great (my mom said it was THE BEST burger she had had in as far as she could rememberand my breakfast was delicious!! The service was great and friendly and they didnt hesitate to put on a fresh pot of decaf for my mom! I highly recommend this place!

Went on Friday afternoon, and the Chef had a chicken cordon bleu special on. Slightly modified with old aged cheddar, and this garlic chipotle mayo.Made a deal that if I didnt like it, the meal was free, but if I did enjoy I would leave a review.So here I am leaving a review because that was one of the best sandwiches Ive had in a very long time.You can tell they use good quality ingredients.Would highly recommend a visit here.

This place is terrific! I wanted to try the liver dinner Id heard so much about but the restaurant wouldnt be serving it the week I would be in town! Goran offered to make the dinner specially for me to pick up and Holee!! Im so glad I accepted his offer! I actually ordered 2 dinners (and each gives me 2 meals the portions are so generous so that I could bring one home & freeze it. I had 2 fresh dinners while I was away and last night just had the first of my frozen ones - it was as good as the fresh ones! Liver was cooked perfectly, vegetables fresh & cooked perfectly as well - and bonus: onions & bacon with the dinner!!! Gordan is such a nice person and I enjoyed talking to him as he plated my order when I arrived, not ahead of time! My daughter ordered Chicken Cordon Bleu on a bun and said it was very, very good! Will most certainly be back to Square Plates!!!

Very happy with our lunch, fries are very good, club sandwich is very good. Real mayonnaise available on request. Free coffee refills. Small restaurant, with 30 or 40 seats.

We stopped by this gem today for lunch, and what a treat! The homemade burger was perfection! My burger loving son said it was the best he has had! The owner clearly takes pride in the quality of the food he serves. We will definitely return.

Square Plates has many unique menu items that I absolutely love, including their breakfast, but my favourite is always his homemade soup with a sandwich!

What a gem! We can tell the owner/chef/server really loves food. He is very creative with his specials - Southern Sandwich was chicken schnitzel with pulled pork, and soup of the day was smoked chicken, savoy cabbage and potatoes. Basics like traditional breakfast was well done. (Farmers sausages are big and tasty.Price is a steal!

Service was excellent, the owner is super friendly along with the employees. Breakfast was extremely greasy, and I felt a little sick after from all the grease.

Delicious Philly cheese steak omelette!! It was sooo tasty! The shaved ribeye steak was lean, blended well with the green peppers, grilled onions and cheddar cheese. So good! Home fries are grilled and tasty. Looking forward to my next meal here!

Omg. Stopped in here when I was dropping my daughter off at university. Truly glad we found it. Everything was delicious. Had the Rueban best one I’ve ever eaten. Made sure we came back when we picked her up for thanksgiving. That sandwich makes the drive from niagara all the more worthwhile. .

Stopped by on my way to camping in Kawartha Lakes. We were the only ones in the restaurant, so we had some nice conversation with the owner Gorain. He was a really nice guy and was fun to talk with. I had the Philly Steak Sandwich and it was excellent, the ribeye was sliced fresh and cooked perfectly. The home fries were delightful too. Will come back again if Im in Peterborough.

Stopped by on our way to a camping trip because we saw good reviews here, and it did not disappoint! Food was very delicious and super fresh (got the Halibut fish and chips and the fish was delicious). Gorain is a nice guy who clearly loves what he does! Overall, a good experience.

First time here.... The food is delicious, the prices cant be beat, the owner (who is also the chefis friendly, welcoming and extremely attentive and makes sure you have the best experience possible. Will come back again and again!

High quality food, lots of it, for a good price. Goren, the owner, cooks everything, and comes out to talk to customers. He’s community minded, truly cares about people, and has an interesting story himself. I love his peameal eggs Benedict he offers on the weekends, although everything I’ve had is delicious.

Wonderful little family restaurant just north of downtown Peterborough. Most of the customers are local so we definitely felt like tourists coming here. Good service and delicious food. Prices are very good and portions are large. Will return for sure, thanks!

Had my first breakfast outside my house in a year! This diner was wonderful. The owner is the cook and he’s a friendly man who truly loves what he does. He even gave a tutorial to my mum and me about his coffee blend! Highly recommend this restaurant. The photo is my amazing Eggs Benedict. Very clean and very strict Covid protocols which I am grateful for.

A friend and I went here for breakfast and we will definitely be back! Excellent atmosphere, clean and warm. The food was so good, fresh and filling and for a great price! Service was fast and friendly, we had a lovely morning :)I couldn’t recommend it more!

A great find. This place is unassuming and friendly. The food is cooked, mostly fresh in house by a single chef who is also a personable fellow. We had a chat with him while there and could tell he was proud of his creations. The breakfast rivals any in town and when I mentioned I wanted to try his homemade burger next time he offered a sample and it was delicious! (Normally a mixture of beef, veal and pork, though he said he had no pork in this batch due to circumstances).It is THESE kind of small businesses we should support not the junk they serve at S.Joes etc...Would recommend to anyone looking for a well cooked meal and the prices are quite possibly the best in the city. Had lunch here with my family a little while ago, and it was exceptional! Prices are low, owner is good at his craft and uniquely likeable. Atmosphere is very basic, not for those looking for a "classy" restaurant. Give it a try though and Im sure it will be a positive experience, not soon forgotten!

We were recommended this place for breakfast by a Peterborough local. We were very satisfied. The portions are big and the prices are low. Love the philosophy of the place: not to cut any corners and provide the best deal possible. I was surprised that the plates were in between square and circular, but the owner assured me it was about the philosophy not the plates. He was fun and a pleasure to talk to. We will be eating here again next time were in town to try the soups. The owner was great very friendly and social. Offered me his special homemade burger. Id have to agree it was the best burger Ive had in Peterborough very tender and basically melts in your mouth. Couldnt ask for a better lunch!

My friend and I came by this cute little restaurant during our trip to Peterborough and we were very impressed. DELICIOUS farmers breakfast sausage, not those small cheap ones at most diners. The attention to detail and craft that go into the daily chef specials are a deliciously refreshing treat for the indecisive like me; I got a chicken cordon bleu sandwich made with a nice, thick, juicy schnitzel - PHENOMENAL. The turkey pot pie soup was also an excellent and hearty comfort! The value is incredible, and the owner/chef is very involved and accommodating! Well definitely be back :)

Square Plates is a lovely family diner with incredible food at very competitive prices. Definitely a hidden gem in a residential area of Peterborough - well worth checking it out! The owner/chef takes incredible pride in his business and makes sure you will enjoy the food he makes for you. He tries his best to cater to any dietary needs you and goes above and beyond to make sure your changes are excellent. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and everything myself or my friends have tried has been excellent. Additionally, they hire people in the community with special needs which I think is such a wonderful thing for a local diner to do. The waitress is lovely - very pleasant and great at her job.Square Plates is my go to spot for a tasty breakfast in Peterborough - never disappointed by the service or the food.

From the outside, this place is easy to miss as its tucked in between a few homes. The man who served us was very welcoming and friendly. The meals are delicious and come with big portions; hard to believe most meals are under $10! I had the traditional breakfast with eggs, sausage, home fries, and toast. I couldnt finish it all, but wish I could have kept eating.Another great thing about this diner is that they employ workers with special needs. It made me feel great about supporting this local business. Would recommend this place again and again.

Great eggs Benedict with pea meal bacon... so good that I havent been able to order anything else when I get there. Huge portions for a good price. Id never had found this place without my mother taking me there; its kind of in a neighborhood that doesnt have much business. Definitely recommend for a no-nonsense breakfast or lunch.

I always tell my friends about this restaurant as it is a must-try. Most recently, I had the daily special which was honey garlic pulled pork on a bun with fries. Easily the best fries Ive ever had. On our way out, we even bought some soup to bring home for dinner which was phenomenal. The prices are the best in Peterborough, by far. The owner is so nice and is hilarious, eating here is a wonderful experience.

Friendly service and an amazing meal. Definitely one of the hidden gems in Peterborough. I had the BBQ pulled pork special of the day and it was great. The fries were the best Ive ever had anywhere, by far.We liked the food so much that we brought some soup home for later. When leaving we were even given recommendations for how to prepare the meal. It was very good soup, some of the best soup Ive ever had.

The owner is wonderful, friendly, kind, and so personable. He is fantastic! The server was a nice girl, as well. Very cute inside. The food was definitely fresh, however, extremely greasy and I wasnt able to enjoy the food. Be careful ordering breakfast if you have a weak tummy - Though its great food, there is a lot of grease. Maybe ask them to use less or order something else.

I dont like to eat out because I have a plethora of food allergies. I started to inquire about ingredients when I was stopped. The owner was so kind and friendly! He asked for my allergies then said to just tell him what I wanted to eat and he would make it happen.He presented me with a lovely breakfast, cooked perfectly and safely. It is a good spot. Food is tasty and fresh. Most of it really seems like homemade food and not frozen or processed. This is a kids friendly and inexpensive place.

Great place that everyone should be going to! Food is fantastic no matter what you get, the service from the one man show owner is intimate and incredible. No matter what you feel welcomed and his knowledge and passion is shown in the way he handles and speaks about his food.Went here with family, for a burger, chicken fingers and fish but the daily specials he has always look and smell fantastic. Overall all the food is great and to top it all off, proceeds of baked goods go to the Youth Emergency Shelter. You get a great meal, experience and you can feel great knowing you’ve helped those who need it.More people should be here as he deserves every penny!
