This straightforward hotel is 0.9 miles from Hemlington Lake and Recreation Centre and 3.2 miles from Marton train station.Simple, colourful rooms feature free Wi-Fi, TVs, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Family and executive rooms add sitting areas. Room service is available.Free perks include breakfast, a nightly drink and parking, plus access to an on-site fitness centre with a sauna, a hot tub and an indoor pool. The bar and grill serve seasonal dishes, and meeting and event space is available.
The quality of the food was only average, although plentiful. Decor was tired. But for the price it was fine. Bar prices were good. It suited our needs as an overnight stay.
Very dated, but its cheap so what fo you expect, gym facilities are good tho with a pool.
I was father of the bride as they hosted my daughters wedding at the weekend, they were fantastic before, during and after and the staff couldn’t do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble, first class service, helped make our day so special and will last long in the memory, would highly recommendThanks to all involved
The staff were extremely rude ,we will not be returning if we can help it the wedding room was lovely but everytime we asked staff for something they were quite aggressive we spent a lot of money we booked in for the whole weekend and ate at the hotel but honestly couldnt believe the staff especially the receptionists the hotel needs a complete refurbishment to bring it up to standard it is at best a 3 star hotel we looked forward to my sisters wedding for 2 years which was moved due to covid and it was as if it was booked the week before all staff need to understand what hospitality is about !
Rooms are very dated . Coffee at breakfast , I found it to be undrinkable. Contractors accommodation In the middle of no where
The hotel is looking rather old now. Leisure facilities look huge and well done although I didnt use them myself. Breakfast room was small, dark and only one girl working meant I waited what seemed like a long time to even be offered a cup of tea/coffee. Food was ok. Rooms are dated and although apparently clean, they just look worn.
Friendly staff and they do offer a vegan breakfast but you need to ask. The pool and steam room were great.
The room was clean but it is old and tired and is in need of a refurbishment. The beds were soft and have seen better days. The staff were friendly and helpful. If using the pool facilities you will need a £1 coin. Was situated where we wanted but would think twice before staying again.
Place was perfect for my needs just a overnight stay , only down side was the smell of cannabis coming out of one room and making the corridor really smelling bad to the rest of us that dont appreciate drugs
Bad points room are dated with poor decor .very noisy at weekends with wedding etc.Good breakfast and meals when they are available staff very friendly and helpful.
Booked the hotel months in advance, arrived and was told our booking had been cancelled. Staff said it was a manger supervisor that had cancelled it but nothing else was mentioned.Luckily they had two rooms spare for us however I wish we would have just left as the rooms are awful. The shower looks about 30 years old, paint is chipping off the walls, there’s holes in the bedsheets. Only positive is that the beds were comfy.Would not stay here again and would not recommend to anyone else
Rooms were missing extra toilet rolls, pillows in the wardrobe and a hairdryer as almost every other hotel have. The fire alarm was constantly going off just to be told "IT IS FAULTY" That needs to be fixed ASAP.
Rooms very "tired" in need of updating and renovation. Staff helpful and friendly, but the general state of accommodation makes it feel run down. Would not want to stay here again.
Hotel is atrocious, most rooms have showers that i could wee with more pressure and just trickle out. Most staff are lazy dont know what theyre doing. Was a wedding on one night that I didnt get told about when booking and was blasting music out till 12 at night. Asked to move rooms and got the key for 217, got to the room and there was already someone in it. Finally got another room after another 10 minutes. To then be going to sleep and then have reception come barge into my room. The cleaners are terrible had no toilet roll in my room for two days so in the two visits they came to my room they failed to realise I had no toilet roll. Key card are hit and miss, more often then not youll have to go to reception to get it reset. Over all terrible stay, would not recommend👍🏽
Great big room for good price. Dated with anaglypta ceiling and black mould in bathroom ceiling but room clean and airy with helpful staff. Pool lovely with plenty of space nice chhanging rooms not too busy till kiddy session with mother🙄baby session which was a bit of a nnightmare with 1/4pool full of 20mums and babies singing
Much better than I was expecting from the reviews I had read about the place. Lets be honest, the price is unbeatable for the services they provide. Where else are you going to find hotel, gym, wet area, pool, parking, wifi and breakfast all included in the price for that price? I paid for two nigts 25th to 27th August 2022 around 130 pounds for two people. The place is somewhat old, the furniture needs to be changed for new ones; When I arrived at the hotel I felt that I was in my grandmothers house LOL, the bed was not super hard at all as they said in some of the comments. I arrived afraid of being treated in a racist way because I am a Latin woman with dark hair and brown skin and I dont speak English fluently, but what I found was the opposite, the staff was very friendly and smiled from time to time. Sometimes they didnt but I could see their tired faces so I never took that gesture personally. The wet area an the pool was very good and very clean, they give you towels and the place has lookers wich works with 1pound coin. We expend most of the time the and I saw by myself people cleaning several times per day. The restaurant is DELICIOUS, the best stake I have ever eaten in the UK (Better than the Hilton (No offense). I had breakfast, lunch and dinner on site and tried as many dishes and desserts as I could and everything was fresh and delicious. Even in the room they put cookies next to the coffee and tea. It was lovely to see people with their pets as well because this hotel is also dog friendly :-). The only thing that definitely bothered me was having to go through the smoking area when I went to the restaurant. Having so much outdoor space, why do they allow smokers to sit in the corridor leading to the restaurant? Every time I passed by there was someone smoking and I felt like I had to "pay a toll" to be able to go to eat by breathing in all that air polluted by cigarettes. They even have a special bin for cigarette butts in the hallway. :-(But I will definitely go back.
Lovely place to stay. No issues.Breakfast was lovely.Pool was very cold. Loved the jacuzzi
I saw on their website that it is a pet friendly hotel and they are allowed. Luckily, after seeing all those 1 star reviews thought to call them before booking and ask them the price for each pet. So called them and asked if I can take my caged parrot and the 1st person said it is not allowed. I asked why isnt it allowed? On website it says pets allowed so she didnt have an answer and moved me to the next person. 2nd person said only dogs are allowed.Excuse me?! from what day did we say pet means dogs? I thought any animal that you want to have is a “PET”.Btw if you don’t know the meaning then Google it. Based on google, It means a domestic or tamed animal kept for companionship or pleasure is PET!!!Next time write dog only instead of pet allowed so people don’t have to ask you and waste their precious time.Terrible customer service!

Horible service, racist staff member. Asked nicely for a fan on the first night and wasnt provided one even though they said they would. Tacky room service. The egg was watery. When asked for tea was ignored and when gotten it was cold. The bed felt like rock from ancient history. The floor was stained. No plug sockets next to the bed. No warning sign for hot water and it was scorching.
Sunday lunch very disorganised, 1 had starter and finished before other served. Carvery disappointing beef tough gravy like water .
Awful customer service. We did not receive the room we booked. Instead we received a room that would not fit 1 of us in. On top of that when we went to customer service they told us there is nothing they can do about it and suggests us to sleep in our cars. We have 2 children that cannot be left alone. One of them being autistic and they treated us like garbage. Told us there’s no duty manager as they’re on holiday and refund was not even considered. When asked about it they just said that it’s not their problem, refused to give names and after we spoke to 2 different members of staff I received the same answer.Absolutely shocking and disgusting behaviour. The price might be temping but for the stress I promise it isn’t worth it.Outraged is an understatement
Fantastic chef on site! We had a very tasty dinner and breakfast. Swimming pool, sauna and spa pool were free of charge and towels were crispy clean. The staff was friendly and professional. We loved it there.
Absolutely wouldnt recommend this place has disgusting customer service.... we booked a family room to find out there only 1 double bed and nothing else even tho we booked a double bed and a bed for a kid once we told them an issue they lied to us and told us they will sort it and then they just didnt bother we went to reception later to tell them it hasnt been sorted which was nearly 11 o clock at night!!!! My kid is tired and shouldnt have to be awake at that hour when his bed time is normally 9 once we told the issue and we got told either sleep on the floor or go sleep in the car which is not what you want to be doing after 500 mile trip especially when you have paid the money for bigger room and extra bed trip absolutely feel disgusted how they treat their customers!!!! feel like they dont care and just give any excuse to get us away from their reception so other people wouldnt hear the issues. We asked for manager we were denied instantly, we wanted the guys name he wouldnt give it absolutely disgusting will never come back here again. Shame really we been worser starred hotels but at least they listen to their customers. If I could I would give them -5 stars I would!!!!!. The reception should have friendly staff not rude staff
Food is decent, but the room are out of date, Wi-Fi needs upgrading, staff are not helpful when it comes to other people running down the corridors banging on doors and shouting. Bedsheets don’t seem to get changed regularly and also bathroom towels and when asked the staff don’t seem bothered. Staff in the Leisure centre are mainly all young and rude when it comes to issues in the pool area.
One of the best hotels for its price! Good breakfast, comfy clean rooms. One could say decor a bit outdated but overall I think it added some charm to the this place.Complimentary pool and gym is awesome.Parking available and staff very helpful.A great place to have a wedding or another celebration too.
Came up here for the weekend just to get away for a few days and have never been up north so thought we’d come have a look , hotel was huge and leisure facilities were brilliant, breakfast was lovely with a lot of variety, the pubs food was nice too, only bad thing was rooms were destroyed a bit but we’re not bothered about rooms as we only use them to sleep in and the place is ran by younger people which some of them were quite rude. Over all good value for the money
Not disabled friendly.I will say firstly the staff and food were amazing (my husband said it’s the best steak he’s had at a pub restaurantand they did everything they could to try and accommodate us but I have to be honest.I had to come up with my husband for a family funeral and looking for truly accessible hotels can be difficult but this place was advertised as accessible. It is not which reception wholeheartedly agreed with us.Barely any disabled spaces normally filled with non blue badge holders so we could never find a space close enough or wide enough. The ramp up to the front door was normally blocked off so we had to constantly ask for the bits blocking to be moved. The room itself wasn’t accessible at all, barely could fit the mobility scooter and the bathroom wouldn’t fit a wheelchair let alone mobility scooter. No emergency pull cords in either the bathroom or bedroom, the 1 rail on the bathtub wasn’t good enough, could barely hold onto it as it was so small and close to the wall. I have small hands and I couldn’t get my hand around it safely. The mattresses in the room were rock solid, we’ve slept on comfier Futons before. Barely any plugs in the room, no phone in the room so if something happened staff wouldn’t know, and without the so needed pull cords it’s just dangerous, particularly for a disabled person visiting alone. If a disabled person can’t stay at a hotel on their own, it’s not accessible.Trying to get to the restaurant/bar area from our room was difficult as the doors were all heavy and some of them were locked, I had to keep unlocking them as I went around to help my husband get through, someone in a wheelchair wouldn’t manage it on their own. It didn’t help that it seems the doors were locked almost immediately after use so I had to unlock them several times a day just to get in and out.The swimming pool doesn’t have an accessible changing room nor somewhere safe to leave the mobility scooter. We were told to change in our rooms but wear clothes on top to take off in front of everyone in the main pool area. This is extremely embarrassing and means we couldn’t shower before or after using the facilities. We ended up leaving a day early because it was actually easier to do a 6 hour drive home overnight than stay there to leave in the morning. This was all told to reception when we left, they were very polite and agreed that the layout isn’t disabled friendly and that the hotel shouldn’t be advertised as accessible at all.It is a shame as staff here clearly do care and are happy to go above and beyond for disabled visitors but they wouldn’t have to go above and beyond if the building was accessible. The staff themselves deserve 5* so does the food, but the accommodation itself is inadequate and irresponsible.
The rooms are very basic, and the building is a throw back to pre millennium. Its a couple of miles away from the Borough maybe more. Its ok for an overnight stay and cheaper than a Premier Inn or the like. There are two floors:ground and first, I didnt see a lift so disabled people make sure youre on the ground floor. I used the electronic check in service which was excellent upon arrival: collect the key from the reception job done👍
Staff were fantastic veggie option presented and tasted lovely. Definitely needs aircon in events room.
Wouldnt recommend it to anyone, very unkept, rooms / bathroom dirty, overpriced drinks / juice. No air con and windows dont open, water temperatures not governed and hot water scaldingRestaurant closes at 9pm on a Saturday night!!! Breakfast cold, been left to long before servingSome of the staff very rude.
To noisy at night constant banging of doors people have no respect for others sleeping even in the morning as well swimming pool excellent and not to far from shops and there was short of bed pillows for the first three nights
Quite place, old furniture but clean. It was only one night, I didn’t get much.Warm reception welcome. Nice cookies next to the boiler 🥰
Very big hotel & leisure facility. Free use of leisure facilities for guests. Rooms very clean, staff very friendly, helpful and efficient. Excellent food and a well stocked bar. Would like to have seen some local ales served, but that wont make a difference to my rating. Would definitely return and recommend Sporting Lodge Hotel.
We stayed in an executive room for one night. It was lovely and spacious. The walls and skirting had a few scuffs and chips but the room was lovely and clean. The breakfast was good and the serving staff were close at all times to top anything up.Ive taken off 1 star for the shower. It was lovely and clean, modern, easy to use but the pressure almost non existent. It was fine for an overnight stay and will be when we stay again later in the year but wouldnt be good for multiple nights. Its not a very expensive hotel which is reflected in the needt for a lick of paint but its a really option for the price.Id definitely recommend.
Receptionist rude and opinionated lol. Rooms dated but adequate. Breakfast lovely. Plenty of choice. Never used the pool area. Would go back
Staff were very welcoming amd accomidating, onsite restaurant was lovely. Rooms could do with an update/fresh coat of paint. But perfect for what we payed
The rooms are clean, although a bit dated.Worst thing was the mattress, very uncomfortable and worn or very poor quality.Replace the mattresses and rooms will be 5star rated.
Very cheap for a carvery but you get what you pay for, we were the last ones in for a carvery so maybe thats why we basically got all the left overs, would go again but not as a special or amazing place to eat its just food cheap and cheerful
Awful. Dripping shower, ground floor & window didn’t lock (big enough for someone to get through). Dirty bathroom, room smelt, kettle full of old water and lime scale. Small Tv. Bed hard and lumpy. Could go on. Don’t book this hotel.
Pumped hard iron, broken records in this joint. New PR 4kg bench press, swimming pool has too much water as i can only drink so much. But overall its good. One issue is i lost my zorg swimming acessory in the deep end.
It took 11 minutes from checking in to checking out. Apart from the drab decor, mismatched furniture etc the room and bathroom was not clean. We were offered another room but politely declined. Our room looked nothing like the website photos.
Bar and restaurant was lovely, wish I could say the same about the room. Stained carpets. Dirty rusty bin. Marked and dirty walls and furniture with the upholstery ripped and fallen through etc. Not very hygienic and clean either. So disappointed because the rest of the place is lovely. Won’t be staying again :(
If i could put no stars I would room wasn’t even fit for a dog was there all of 10 minutes and couldn’t wait to leave there was stains allover the walls carpets chairs wallpaper was peeling off allover the room and it didn’t smell nice at all wouldn’t go back ever again 😬
Ok so i guess i wasnt expecting 5 star to start with. But when you see the dust in the shower vent omg!!! In 2022..and want to deep clean it yourself you know the cleaning standards are that poor. The carpet too unhoovered.. jeez takes me back to caravan holidays with the old box hoovers and no power. They ran out of the breakfast items i ordered the evening before. And it seems the whole place is run by 16 or possibly 17 year olds. However even tho the wesding party blasted out music until late hours.. i did sleep and the bedding was clean. Which is why the review is 2 out of 5 instead of 1.
🌟 the staff here are so warm and friendly. We did 10 nights here in December with the Gremlins. We had B.B.D .No complaints at all the swimming pool was nice and warm 2 lifeguards work at all times. The sauna and steam room was worth everything.Theres also a hot tub . I used once.I feel a bit sorry for the cleaners they were sweeping water nonstop because the showers and pool water..All in all were looking forward to trying here in the summer.P.S.WE SAW SANTA 🎅
Very helpful staff, room spotlessly clean and it really doesn’t matter if it is a bit dated. We have paid much more for worse service. My husband is disabled and everyone went out of their way to assist us.We also had a lovely view over the garden from our ground floor room.
Cant fault the place for what we paid. Stayed a week, happy to come back again. Yes the room furniture was a bit tired, but everything worked, was clean, bed was comfy, breakfast arrangements worked well and all staff were great. Free use of the leisure facilities was a great touch. The food and drink in the restaurant/bar were fine and well priced.
Room is dated but it was very clean and spacious. We had a great sleep. Very happy with room.We ate at the restaurant and had a few drinks too. Staff are wonderful. Friendly and cheerful. Food was great.Sam stood out most ... She was very friendly and clearly a hard worker.Breakfast was great. All round very friendly staff and would stay here again if in the area.Super dog friendly.Thankyou x
Not bad for a few days but definitely need a car as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Quite far to the train station if you want to get to the seaside. Overall the hotel had great facilities - gym, swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi available to the guests for free. The rooms were alright, however we have found a dirty towel and a dirty coffee cup in the room which wasnt nice. There was no bin in our room, just a tiny one in the bathroom which wasnt enough as we didnt get any room service for 2 days. The bathroom was very small and uncomfortable, can hardly fit one person. The bedroom was quite big and spacious, beautiful garden view from the window. Good value for money and pet friendly.
