Sovereign Remedies in Asheville
Description
Privilege
Incredible cocktails mindfully crafted. Amazed at the knowledge, expertise and customer service the staff offers. One of a kind drinks!
MoreI went here just for drinks with my friends before dinner. It was walking distance from everything downtown. The vibe inside was like faerie garden party meets art deco. It was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. I got so many decor ideas for my home. The staff was great and attentive. The drinks were strong and flavorful. I highly recommend! And although we didnt eat there everything smelled amazing.
MoreTonight I had the Catfish and the #27. I can honestly say the Catfish was one of the best things Ive ever put in my mouth. Wow! The drinks were great, the bartenders wonderful, and the atmosphere was really light and inviting. I absolutely love this place.
MoreWow! What an outstanding experience! Such a cool vibe and comfortable atmosphere. My wife & I had trouble choosing because everything on the menu looked amazing. The food did not disappoint. The Pot Pie was savory. A perfect fall dinner. The Enchilada was excellent. Sous Vid Ocotpus? Yep. You read that right. Fantastic! If you like exotic or unique, don’t miss this. The cocktails are awesome! Eli provided great service & hit a home run with his wine recommendation. This establishment is a gem.
MoreGreat cocktails. Extensive selection of spirits. Can get a little loud in the bar area but there is outside seating. We didnt get food this time but Ive heard mixed reviews. Cant judge for myself.
MoreCannot say enough good things about SR! The drinks were unique and delicious, the food outstanding, and the service friendly and engaging. The flavors in the dishes were surprising, but worked so well with each other, and Tyler is a genius behind the bar. Ill be back anytime Im in Asheville to try more of their menu!
MoreDont confuse Sovereign Remedies with foodie royalty. The upstairs dining room is unattractive and deafening. The menu might be Southern (I dont pretend to be an expert on Southern foodbut I had a difficult time selecting a meal. Although the server was clearly experienced, he became too invovled as an entertainer until he was asked to settle down. Serving appetizers before the coctails were delivered indicated a lack of focus at best. Once asked to slow down, the server displayed his competency. Ambiance and service are important elements to a good dining experience. Both were lacking in this noisy and uninviting space.
MoreThe best place to dine in Asheville! The ambience is matched with beautiful food and beverage items, and outstanding hospitality. I would not make a trip to Asheville without visiting Sovereign Remedies. Go here now!
MoreReally really wanted to love this place! Unfortunately they focus on trying to be too much. I suggest simplifying things a little bit and narrow the focus... Food was written well on the menu and looked very nice but cooking was not there! Meats were tough. I dont like doing bad reviews. Sorry.
MoreWorst Meal I’ve had in a long time and it costs the same as the best meal I’ve had. Super confused by how nice the google photos look and great reviews- food quality is really low- very cheap cuts of steak- flavors and seasoning are amateur and weird (not creative). Cocktails are not bad but nothing above other similar places. Don’t waste your time!
MoreAbsolutely incredible. Wow. The drinks were probably the best Ive ever had, they were unique and delicious. Terrific food, the service was awesome, and the atmosphere was so nice! They have a huge selection of liquor. Will absolutely be coming back!!
MoreWe originally just came to this place wanting to try some of the drinks, but we ended up ordering some plates as well, and it was definitely a good choice. We ordered the beef tartare and the gun powders mushrooms, and both were absolutely delicious. My partner was a little skeptical of eating a plate of mushrooms at first, but as soon as he tried the first bite, he was hooked. Both orders were beautifully plated as well.We ordered the Summers Eden and No Sleep Til Brooklyn drinks, and they were also wonderful!Prices are kind of high for the serving sizes, so be aware of that beforehand. We didnt order "dinner," rather it was more akin to small plates or appetizers. It worked out for us since we had eaten a late lunch already. Our waitress was also really awesome.Definitely check this place out if youre in the mood for small plates and/or a fun drink.
MoreVery nice decor and good aesthetics. We sat at the bar and enjoyed two cocktails each and dinner. Everything was delicious. Don’t stop at the cocktail. Order dinner too.
MoreBad food that is overpriced and small portion. Drinks were fine and atmosphere was very pleasant but will not be getting food here again.
MoreWhat an amazing experience. We happened upon this place and it did not disappoint. Ordered random sides and dessert and everything was spectacular. Great food. Great drinks. Great vibe. Speedy service. Truly a gem of Asheville. 10 stars.
MoreQuaint and romantic spot for a great cocktail. Bartender made a fantastic dirty martini and their take on an espresso martini was delicious. Smaller space with limited room at the bar. We didn’t eat - only had drinks, but will definitely be back!
MorePossibly the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Try and get Joel and have him make you something. A definitive mixologist.Great setting too and reasonable prices all things considered. My only complaint is we tried to go back and it was crowded and we didn’t see Joel and gave up.
MoreThis is one of our favorites in town. Food was fantastic! Great flavors. We sat at thee bar and got excellent service. Our Bar tender was Joel. He made our drinks perfect, attention to detail and made us laugh. 👌
MoreA really cool looking place! Very old European style I would say. Cool cocktails. We had two decent cocktails and the Chocolate SMores Terrine. The terrine was really disappointing! For $13 at least the marshmallow should be warm. It was cold and chewy. When we told the server that it was not great, he reacted very rudely and made it seem like we didnt appreciate the made-in-house terrine...The server seemed overall a little bit too busy and stressed.
MoreI’m only here for a day, and I decided to come to this cocktail bar. Sovereign Remedies is listed in many of the guides as having the best cocktails, and I wholeheartedly agree. I had three cocktails and each one is excellent. The cocktails change every month, but they also experiment and will accommodate what you want. What the guide doesn’t say is that the food is excellent as well. The ingredients are very fresh and high end. These change each month, but if you have the chance, you must try the local peaches with foies gras torchon. You cannot go wrong with this combination
MoreNeat place with a fun atmosphere. Quick service on cocktails and food. Highly recommend!
MoreIll say upfront that the experience was tainted by a really loud, inebriated patron. I think the server was avoiding being in the room. And at least one table asked to be moved. We shouldve too. Service was meh which was surprising given that other reviews praised that. Recommend sitting at the bar. The other thing to note is that the upstairs dining room was uncomfortably hot on Saturday evening in July.Drinks were good - esp No 27. Food was hit or miss. Liked the heirloom salad. The duck in the tamale was also good. The cornbread was odd. The fried green tomatoes bland. It was all taking so long that we skipped dessert.
MoreA gem in Asheville. Gorgeous building/bar, very cool upstairs dining area, exceptional service (Eli), awesome music selection (and volume), uniquely delicious food, and hand-crafted drinks. Didnt love the dessert we chose (smore terrine), but that didnt dull the overall experience. Oh, get the cornbread!!Alcohol-free options included telling the server the flavor profiles I preferred and leaving it to the incredible bartenders to come up with something. The drink photo pictured with this review did not contain any alcohol and was delicious!
MoreThe drinks and the atmosphere were absolutely incredible. Its a really intimate place and we enjoyed our time there. Our waiter, Will, was great. However, most at our table werent happy with their meal. It seemed to both be a mix of quality and personal tastes. The meat and cheese board was super disappointing for $22. Id go back, but just for drinks.
MoreGreat vibe and great food. Beef heart tartare was excellent. Smoked salmon dip, yumm.
MoreOur food and drinks were outstanding. The food is so flavorful. Kudos to the chef. The atmosphere inside is so sweet and romantic. Dim lights with a comfortable feeling really makes the mood and mind relax here. The bartenders were very friendly and honest about their favorite items on the menu. We love this place.
MoreThis was a great place to eat dinner my Asheville trip! Really enjoyed it and high recommend.
MoreMay 16 2022- party of 9. From the appetizers to the meal absolutely horrible. Service unbelievably bad. My steak “Chop Shop Steak” for example came out very well done when I ordered medium rare. Next steak came out rare and the chef actually brought it out himself. I put my phone light on it and it was barely seared, and was supposed to be medium. The server looked at me as if I was being rude and it was my fault. If you visiting and want a good meal find something else. I would rate this place equivalent to 3am food from a gas station 10 miles off a highway.
MoreAfter finding authors O Henry and Thomas Wolfes final resting places, ( for more see thetombstonetourist.com we headed back to downtown Asheville for diner and cocktails. Friendly and engaging wait staff. We followed their recommendations for drink and food and it was superb. highly recommend, Out door seating very pleasant.
MoreGreat ambiance, excellent service. The gin and tonic had a beautiful flavour profile but unfortunately flat tonic. We ordered the trout which was a tad salty and (for meovercooked but definitely still good! Fries were good and the bar made a nice, well-balanced mocktail. Overall fun experience with service making up for where the food lacked!
MoreCant tell you how many times Ive had Sovereign Remedies over the years, never once been disappointed! Fantastic locally sourced food, dessert, and of course top notch cocktails and liquor choices in one of my favorite parts of downtown (Northside). One of the best things about this part of town is its extremely close to everything in the center of town, but away from a lot of the traffic of retail shoppers, inviting a good mix of locals and tourism.
MoreGreat place to eat in Asheville. Would recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. We just stumbled across the place and had to wait 30mins which was ok.Glad we chose to wait as the food was spectacular. I had the duck poutine which was very tasty and my wife had the pork loin special also excellent well presented and an interesting combination of flavours.
MorePopped in for a drink before a show at the theater across the street. Got a stellar glass of red called Pessimist. I was going to be content with that but then I saw they had a pasta dish with basically everything on a relish platter so I went with that. Loved it, but then I love brine, so this was right up my alley.I love that whenever I go they always seem to have at least one spot at the bar.----I ordered the seasonal daquiri, it was delicious. Nick the bartender was the best - friendly, attentive, and humored our requests graciously. The bar gets crowded at peak times, so only go if youre comfortable sitting real close to strangers.
MoreMajor props for the tasty, inventive entrees and cocktails but sad, huge ding for lackluster service and sub-standard desserts.❤️cornbread and lamb Mac&cheese
MoreLovely restaurant with great ambiance and cool bar. Would highly recommend the popcorn grits (best grits I’ve ever had!), the No. 27 cocktail, and the vegan boudino for dessert which was absolutely amazing! Burger was good but they should warn that the mustard has horseradish in it. Trout was good but not too special.
MoreThis was a nice, eclectic spot, with a dark ambience. We ordered the corn bread, brussel sprouts (my fave), beef carpaccio (least favorite), potatoes, trout, shrimp, and beef shoulder. Drinks were great, I recommend the No Sleep till Brooklyn, and service was on point. Dessert was underwhelming, I recommend you skip it.
MoreThe appetizers we got were the Duck Frites, Beef Tartar, and Hasselback Potaotes. Chopped Cut for the Moment main course. Service was good. The frites were a standout and rest of what we ate was adequate. We had a cute table that overlooked the first floor.
MoreLocated downtown Asheville N Market St. While there’s plenty of great places for craft cocktails this place has serious game. Lots of great options of the list and plenty of tasty recommendations from the staff. From one of the best Moscow mules I’ve ever had to whiskey sours, you name it they can make it. If your hungry there’s fresh local ingredients in there bar fare with Pommes frites all the way to beef tartare. Worth a stop if you want something worth having. Cheers!!
MoreGreat cocktails and excellent vegetable dishes! Their brussels sprouts were the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried a lot. Their interior and staff were also very charming.
MoreEverything I had was delicious! The Duck Frites were so good! The interior was smaller than I expected but there was plenty of seating outside. The drinks were excellent!
MoreExcellent, specially crafted menu and an extensive bar will keep you well fed and quenched. We ate light for the evening and tried the charcuterie and cheese board that featured locally sourced meat and cheeses. With the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service, you cant go wrong with having dinner here.
MoreAbsolutely incredible evening!!!! We are from Charleston and have not had food this incredible in a long time. Each dish looked like artwork and the flavoring was INCREDIBLE! The chef brought our food out and was extremely friendly, our waitress was great as well. We loved the atmosphere, lighting, energy, and all of the food! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!!!
MoreI made a reservation for dinner a few days in advance and I would recommend the same because of limited seating due to the pandemic. We ordered three items. The first was the crispy oyster mushrooms. The guy who brought them out told us that they were collected fresh a few miles away. Honestly these were the best frikkin mushrooms weve EVER had! They were so flavorful and the fact that the batter was seasoned too made a huge difference. We didnt even notice the cilantro-ginger emulsion on the plate which we had no need for!We also ordered the seared shrimp which was very good too. It had a sauce that had a hint of sweetness which was a nice surprise. The crispy leeks were an amazing addition to the dish!We also ordered the sous vide chicken which was delicious but a little on the dry side. I felt that there should have been more sauce. Again the charred leeks and onions really elevated this dish! The service was great and the food came out really quick!Would definitely come here again if I get a chance!
MoreAwful experience - Waste of your time and MoneyRude waiter, extremely limited and poor menu, food wasn’t prepared as ordered, taste was average, cocktails were not very good - had to send one back. $245 for 2 couples. It was a disappointing evening on the dining front, but we really enjoyed each other’s company!
MoreWas able to dine outside, nice covered area on sidewalk. I tried the House Frites and was quite pleased; its a good portion (but not a full dinner). They had glass bottle Cokes too which made my day. My fiancé tried the Chop Shop burger and raved about it as well. Great first experience, will definitely go back.
MoreI LOVE THIS BAR... and no, I’m not a country singer. First class ambiance. First class bartenders. Great place to visit on a cold Saturday afternoon. We enjoyed our Old Fashions and they had a great selection of top shelf bourbons we had never tried. Great location in downtown and close proximity to other popular points of interest like Pack’s Tavern and French Broad Chocolate Lounge. We can’t wait to come back again!
MoreI just love the ambiance the minute we walked in. Theyre doing a partnership with pop-up Owl Bakery for breakfast/lunch- must try.Recommended the porridge - amazing! Burger tasty! I would go just to have a drink and chill, love the jazzy French music in the background.
MoreSovereign Remedies fills one with a sense of aw the moment one walks through the doors. The life that the room holds is unlike that of any other. I was greeted with charm and hospitality then shown to our seats by a window with a view. The attention to detail in the aesthetics alone were thought provoking. The drinks were well thought out and crafted with care even the simplest of beverages were made with attention to detail. The food was astonishing, simple yet complex. Each bite took you to a new place in the pallet. Sweet and spicy, full and savory. This is a place where anyone can come join in on the action. Prices in food and drink range depending on the caliber you so choose from a quick bite to a full course meal. I am so glad that I was brought to this amazing place and I hope that you are as pleased as I was.
MoreCocktails were definitely some of the best Ive had. Just know that it takes time to make a fantastic drink. The atmosphere was vibrant with great music (older Kendrick Lamar tracksand conversation. The decor definitely had my eyes wandering during the time I was there.
MoreThis place is just absolutely amazing. They can make a mean cocktails, the Black Dahlia was my favorite and I highly recommend it. The service was fantastic and the food bites while small were great. The beef tartare was delicious and so were the bone marrow totes! Absolutely fantastic experience and a must go to while in Asheville
