We had a great experience with Southern Right Charters. They got us right next to the whales and were very knowledgeable. They also had excellent customer service and the boat was clean and spacious.

Pretty fun experience. We did see the whales jump from the coastline so we decided to take a boat tour the next day. Been worth it although the action while being on the boat was mostly around the surface. Didn’t see any jumping but mothers with their calves and learned a few things about their migration habits and lifestyles. Would recommend doing that to anyone visiting Hermanus.

It’s nice and you have to be lucky to see breaches.But we also did the cliff side walk and saw more whales and breaches that day. I think it depends what you want todo.We also had a bit of sea sickness. All in all I would recommend doing the cliffside path and do whale watching that way. You will probably also see the klipdas. A kind-otter mammal living in the cliffs.Have fun

Such a great experience! Came near the end of the whale watching season (June-Novemberwe came beginning of October which was when mamas and their babies are spending time together in Walker Bay and nursing. You can whale watch from the cliff side but going out with Southern Right Charters gives you a much better look at the whales as you are closer to them in the water. The guides did a great job spotting the whales and taking us to them but not so close as to interfere. I was definitely able to have a fantastic close look and snap lots of photographs! We went out on a rainy and windy morning when there was somewhat of a swell. Whales were still visible and the experience was still special. We even saw a brindle whale!! Very rare!Staff was informative and very helpful especially when my partner got sea sick :(Overall, a special experience and a great company to book with.

Our schedule changed to the next day due to wind conditions. They have no drone policy but they do fly there own drone and film a movie you can purchase in the end

Great experience with SRC. Jacques, our boat captain, was very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate. Good value for money + total respect of the animals that weren’t harassed by the boat.

I didnt go out on cruise but was just as well looked after by staff, shown access to cliff path to "old harbour" received phone call to say cruise back in 20mins.Husband & our visitors really enjoyed their trip, got lots of photos & bought a copy of the drone video.

Incredible experience with a friendly and knowledgeable team. Due to weather our time was cancelled but we were able to make it there for the tour before and just squeezed in. The communication from them was fast and friendky on the day.Once out there, we saw Southern Bright Whales including some family groups and a young whale breaching, and some Bottle Nose Dolphins. The team found plenty for us to see and gave us lots of time to take photos.There were quite a few that were seasick on the way back but the staff looked after them well and handed out ginger beers to help settle peoples stomachs. Highly recommended.

We found many whales doing tricks, they knew where to find them and gave lots of explanation. Boat was steady and big.

This was great. Saw many whales and good information on board as well. Not too crowded, although some people really dont care about others on board, but thats what happens in groups i guess. No fault at the company for the rudeness of others. Would definitely do this again.

We went as a family of 4. 2 adults and 2 teenagers (13&15).The tour is very well managed and the skipper was nice & knowledgeable but easy going. The boat is good and safe.We got lucky and saw plenty.

Great experience! All workers are extremely kind and knowledgeable. Saw two kinds of whales and a lot of seals. Highly recommended!

First of all, take something to deal with the nausea, don’t just deny it. Besides that the guide was amazing and all the stuff were really kind and helpful. We saw a lot of different whales in groups. We saw different species and a mating group of 8 whales. It was definitely something I wouldn’t want to miss. If you’re in the area you must take this tour. There’s also toilets on the boat and on the deck and you can get water or some light drinks and muffins before the tour starts. In reference to the video of the tour, I think it’s really awesome angels to see the whales and the boat with the people with the drone, it really takes beautiful videos of all the experience, but it’s still a little pricey to get it on hard drive after the tour, It costs 360R.

Undoubtedly the best whale watching experience I have ever had. The guides are very knowledgeable and they have found whales both times we went out. The boat is clean and the refreshments are free. No better way to encounter the southern right whale than with Southern Right Charters in Hermanus.

Expensive trip, but well worth it for the experience of getting up close with the whales. Staff were absolutely excellent and highly knowledgeable.

We had the most amazing experience, seeing 6 whales (2 different specieswith 2 close-up encounters. We also saw seals playing around, my first penguin actually swimming in the sea, and an albatross sweeping across the ocean surface. Our host was very informative, giving lots of additional information about the species that we saw.

What an amazing experience, made even better by such an amazing company! I was so impressed and grateful for the knowledge, passion and kindness that was shown by each member of the SRC crew, even little Brooke who was eager to point out the different whales to us in the pre-tour briefing. It really made the experience of whale watching 100x better (and that’s saying a lot considering we saw two beautiful gentle giants on our trip 😍). I would definitely return to Hermanus and go whale watching with SRC again. Thank you for making this such an unforgettable experience for a whale obsessed girl!

This company is amazing , súper profesional and entusihastic crie , all the cheq in procces is perfect they give you also cofee and cookies before departure , they go with a drone to see the whales , even we want on June we could see the 3 different types of whales , the place is amazing too you have to go !

Very well organised and a beautiful trip out around Walker Bay. We didnt see whales 🥲 but without having to ask was refunded 50% as a result. Definitely recommend.

I went to watch whales yesterday and it was an incredible experience. It is worth it. The staff is very kind.

Very good guide with a lot of passion for whales and their protection. On the Boat we had some front seats, when sitting on the side it is likely to get wet if it has some swell.In case you want to stay try or suffer quickly from sea sickness better stay inside at the rear of the boat. The organization overall was very smooth and efficient. I can really recommend it.

We were very happy with their service from the very beginning.Clear website and easy to make reservation. Nice staff, both on the shore and on the ship. The ship itself is a catamaran, and therefore is very stable on a wave. Quite comfortable and easy to walk around the ship to find a best place for the whale observation. The guide was amusing and easy to listen, as well as very knowledgeable about the marine life.It was a fantastic experience! Very recommended for everybody visiting Hermanus.

Great knowledge by the guides.We managed to see a mother souther right whale and her calf.Would have been nice to have gotten a little closer for better photos.I thought 900R was a little steep but all the companies are charging that much.

I wont go with any other whale trip. The service is great, whale sightings fantastic and education through the trip is very informative.

Great experience. My husband and I arrived with no prior booking and the staff were kind enough to let us on. The cruise was extremely enjoyable and the captain is knowledgeable about the whales. We spotted a few. Only other advice would be to hand out blankets as that might create an even better experience.
