In an art deco building, this quaint hotel is a 2-minute walk from the beach at Lummus Park, 9 minutes on foot from the cafes and shopping on Lincoln Road, and 4 miles from Jungle Island zoo.Functional rooms feature TVs, iPod docks and WiFi. Some also have fridges, microwaves and sofabeds. Upgraded rooms offer flat-screen TVs with DVD players. Kids age 12 and under stay with a parent for no charge.Amenities include free continental breakfast and afternoon wine receptions. There's also an ornate cocktail bar and a courtyard terrace flanked by palm trees.
Its a bit run down, but no more than any other budget hotel. Decent stay, clean enough. Staff was helpful and friendly.
I loved the location. Good quality-price relation. Comfortable and good service from the staff. Spacious, bright and clean rooms
Comfortable hotel and very good location. Complete and nice rooms. The attention of the staff was very good. We will come back!
Checked in the first day to a room that was decrepit. Wires hanging off the wall, orange rust all over, a bathroom door that would jam and lock you in and the beds were a box spring and a thin mattress that allowed you to feel all the springs as you slept. This room was given to us by Natasha who promised there were no other rooms available. She lacked customer service and was just very unpleasant. The following day I went back to the lobby, provided pics of the grotesque room given by natasha and informed I couldnt sleep there. I got Michelle who was an absolute gem! She immediately moved me out of that room and gave me a room on the 1st fl. She really tried, she was kind, polite and professional but the hotel is old and when we came back from dinner, there were bugs all over the room that had flown in from the vents that blew hot air. The bathroom was filled with the bugs!! The AC wasnt working. I went to see the night receptionist who informed me that he would not give me the keys to another room until I had removed all my belongings from the hot box of a room. He wouldnt give us keys to move to the other room so we were basically in the hallway with clothes on hangers!!!!! The room he gave me was disgusting and once again, things were not working and it was HOT. When I complained to the the night receptionist he was rude and kept telling me that I should respect him because by then Id lost all my cool. In addition to having to deal with his rudeness, he couldnt help with someone to carry the stuff to the 3rd room because it was after 10pm. He also threatened to call the police because he kept acting like he was doing me a favor but he was unprofessional, rude and just lacked any customer service skills... At this point I am just waiting for something else to go wrong. I expect it cause this place is not what it was 2 yrs ago. Its completely fallen apart. The elevator doesnt work and it just looks dirty.
I read many bad comments, the truth is that my experience was very pleasant, everyone was very attentive and polite, the room was in good condition, clean and perfumed, the bathroom was impeccable. I recommend it, I have a trip scheduled and I will stay here again!
Old but charming hotel! I was fascinated, the attention I received was very warm and polite, the room very complete. I went with my daughter who was delighted since we were 1 block from the beach! We will return without hesitation! I recommend it
Very nice Hotel! Your staff is great very attentive, the room is very comfortable and bright. I loved the location just 1 block from the beach! I recommend it
The location is excellent! I really liked this Hotel the staff very attentive and nice, the rooms are clean, spacious and bright. The price is commensurate and the breakfast I loved! I recommend it
Very nice hotel! I would definitely recommend it and I will be back! the very warm and friendly attention, the room that I had beautiful and spacious. It has an excellent location! If you go to Miami stay here without hesitation...
I really like the staff and their friendliness. the rooms are very clean and spacious, the location should be mentioned as it is perfect. I am fascinated with this hotel! I highly recommend it
I’m from Canada & it was my first time in Miami, south beach hotel was the cutest hotel !! Amazing customer service, Michelle at the front desk is an absolute angel & so kind!! Definitely made us feel so welcome & safe staying there! The rooms are adorable & has a cute view all around! The complimentary breaky was good (super good orange juice)! 100% recommend staying if you’re looking to save a lil money in a super expensive city!! 2 minute walk from the beach and right across the street from a Walgreens!! Can’t wait to go back to Miami & stay at the south beach plaza!! Thank you again Michelle for everything !!
It’s a good deal for staying right near the Miami Beach. The service was great. I wished the room could be a bit larger though. The bed took majority of the room space for our stay.
First and foremost the staff is amazing! Michelle at the front desk, and Anthony were more than helpful and accommodating. Yes, the building is older but everyone knows thats the beauty of South Beach, historic art deco. I also really like the antique furniture. On top of that, the price was very reasonable considering the location!
I tried booking a room online through Expedia. A glitch online put my bookings at a later date. I immediately canceled. I thought with the protection I purchased it would be no issue. Even with the hotels policy of canceling way outside of the 3 days of check in, the hotel didnt provide a refund. Over a coarse of 3 weeks and speaking with different managers who said it shouldnt be a problem still got denied. At one point Iwas told the hotel was processing my refund. After not seeing any deposit. I called back and was told it shouldnt be a problem. A manager who was authorized needs to be on shift and to call back. This experience and lack of costumer consideration makes me thankful I never stayed in the first place.
In general, we give it a 3.5. The location was perfect. Beach was 3min away, Walgreens right in front, dozens of restaurants/shops all walkable distance. Contrary to negative reviews on here, checking was smooth. We arrived about 3 hours early before check in and the front lady , free of charge, checked us in to our room. The room was clean but a little old. The outlets were so lose. The room got cold after a while but not a big deal. Overall, it was a fair stay.
The hotel looks nice upon arriving and the location itself is convenient. However, management is very unorganized. Check in was a mess, we had to keep coming back to be able to check in. Only one room was available, my cousin had to stay with us until her check in was ready. Management is very ignorant and cash centered, rather than customer oriented. I paid for a room with a kitchen as I have children, my microwave didnt work and neither did any outlets in the kitchen. The sink only ran cold water. My cousin fell down their steps that were soaked well after the rain had come and gone, there was no wet floor sign down either. Anytime house keeping came, they were very minimal and basic. Wouldnt bring new towels after taking the wet ones. They stripped my cousins bed and left it empty for 2 days, she slept with no sheetz or blankets. Then, the power went out for 30+ hrs. We werent able to cook any of the food I brought. I wasnt able to use my breastpump to make bottles for my nursing baby. The room was so hot, I had to take my children out to the car. When I called, the "manager" refused to make anything right. Told me to get a lawyer and do it the hard way, refused to make anything right. She wouldnt even give me her bosses information. Save your money!
The location is very convenient, you can walk around to a bunch of stores, the room itself wasn’t good, there’s no ledge for the water to stay in the shower so water goes all over the floor in the bathroom so you have to clean it up every time your done showering but it’s still slippery and a bad safety hazard there’s also no vents in the bathroom for it to dry, while I was in my shower getting ready for bed I seen sparks and heard loud bangs coming from my window this made the power go out in my room and it happened at 10:00 pm and it’s now 2:20am. I have no Air conditioner so it’s very hot in here and about an hour after the power went out everyone else’s lights came back on but ours have yet came on.when we asked if we could switch rooms he said there’s nothing he could do right now and he was sorry for the inconvenience. I just don’t understand why the other rooms my have power but not me.
Just - no. Our room was in very poor shape and in need of repair. There were bugs everywhere in the bathroom and there was massive damage to the kitchen counter area. The restaurant is overpriced and, buyer beware, there is a 20 percent auto-gratuity charged to your card at the restaurant. The continental breakfast is sad and consisted of just a bagel and fruit. The person at the front desk (she was Ukranian maybe?was far from friendly while re checked in and was on the phone the whole time with someone else while "helping" us. Parking is not free and there is a parking garage right near the place which, while conveniently located, is very expensive and the hotel doesnt validate anything. There is no doubt that the place probably constantly sells out their rooms 100 percent of the time because, well.... South Beach! Just - buyer beware. You really do get what you pay for :)
Honestly I was disappointed in the hotel. The hotel is very outdated, rooms were so small and bathrooms too with no fridge nor microwave. The room we were giving the shower head was broken we asked for a new room, when asked to switch rooms they informed us they were fully booked and could not offer a new room. Most disappointed part of the hotel was was the Free Breakfast, given a bagel and a muffin nothing warm of a breakfast. The breakfast video they have is not even close to what we were given. All of the guests had a disappointed look when going to eat, another downside is you cant even sit on the lounge area of the hotel because you have to order food from SALT, another guest order a cup of water and they told her you have to pay for it. Overall I respect the hotel staff because they were very polite but the manager of the restaurant destroys the vibes of the place. One thing that is good is your close to the beach and Ocean Drive.
Great area, walkable to the beach and all the restaurants and bars. The room was a little outdated, the room only had two outlets. deffinetly an old hotel. What was most disappointing was the free "breakfast". A plain bagel, an orange, and a muffin, with coffee and sunny d, isnt the breakfast they advertised. Plus the restaurant attached to the hotel the staff were not friendly. Especially the man who walks around with his sunglasses all the time and acts like he is better than everyone else there. The hotel staff was super nice.
This is an old building converted to hotel. The rooms are very small. They do not even have additional plug points. The elevator was an antique piece installed in the 60s. So we have to be very careful and they have a disclosure at the elevator door itself. The bathroom is clean but still you will have a feeling that it is very old. They dont offer a microwave and refrigerator in any of their rooms. The only advantage is this is located very close to the beach and municipal garage at 14th St where you can park and walk. Good for money if you ignore the negatives.
This place is a rip off! Please do not even book a stay! I had to cancel because of a family emergency. I didnt even had book the stay for a couple of days and still did not want to give me a refund. The trip was for next month so they werent going to lose anything. HOW desperate you have to be to keep the money like that when my family and could use the refund towards medical bills during our time of crisis. Please, please, please do not even bother!
We stayed one night at this hotel and had such a great experience. Since the moment we arrived we were treated so nicely by Michelle, the woman at the front desk. I even asked her name to write this review cause she’s was so kind and respectful. The room was clean and big, even with its own kitchen! And so good located. Thank you so much for everything!
