Soumaya Museum in Toluca

Beautiful museum from the inside and outside, I do think most famous for the ivory exhibition and the door or hell, some random exhibition as well.Its nice to go there.Best thing: ITS FREE

It’s interesting building with unique design and style! I wish I could go inside but the line was too long. Would love to visit again, I heard the entrance is free.

This museum is sublime. The exterior is a work of art apart from everything you can see inside. It has about 5 levels and you can see different pieces. Also, a train passes in front of the museum is really amazing. If youre in CDMX this museum is a ten to ten.

Very interesting museum and its free! The look from outside is gorgeous.Its easy to spend 2 hours here and there are many interesting artworks to explore.I came here during weekdays morning when it opens and there were not a lot of people.

The best collection of Rodin sculptures on the top floor. Definitely worth seeing it is open Seven days a week and it’s free!

One of my most favorite art museums. I always go whenever lm in Mexico City. They have one of Rodins Gates of Hel plus lots more Rodin including The Thinker . Some Monet and Davinci and other greats. Really a super place. The building is one of the most unique in the world. And its free. A gift to the country from Carlos Slim

Wide variety of art. It’s free and the building has AC + clean bathrooms. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area

The exterior of the museum is impressive but the art itself wasn’t. It has several floors, I think it’s 5 floors, with art scattered around. I was not particularly impressed with the layout and the contemporary art just wasn’t very interesting to me. It was a nice place to walk around and distract myself because it was free but I definitely would not pay to see this art.

Im a little confused about this place. Overall, I liked the place and the experience. Its also free. But English explanations were limited, only in paintings.In my opinion, I dont recommend it if you are staying at the CDMX for a short time and are not a museum/art enthusiast. Its a bit far from the city especially if you are staying in the city center or Consesa/Roma. The museum consists of 6-7 floors and takes a minimum of 2 hours. If you have a general interest in art, if you only know famous artists and paintings, I think this is not the place for you. Although there are a few picasso, dali, van gogh paintings, nothing spectacular for you. However, if youre a little more interested, definitely add this place to your list, and youll see Palanco as well.I liked the last floor the most, mexican cultural artifacts, old paintings from mexico city etc. The first floor was also beautiful, with an Ottoman grand piano. And the modern art floor was pretty cool.

Entrance is free and is definitely a must see if youre in México City. The collection is extensive and simply beautiful!Come prepared to walk a lot, there are several floors with displays and you have to walk to get to them. We were super tired by the time we got to the fourth floor, luckily there are seats to take a break.

Admission is completely free. Do not bring any water bottles here. Lot of European art and statues to look at. They have a nice asian and classic music section as well. would highly recommend stopping by!

Incredible collection, unbelievable for its quantity and diversity. Almost overwhelming. Currently organized by medium / origin. Mr. Slim, May I humbly suggest an all-media inclusive exhibition by era? Your collection would make an impressive historical retrospective.

If you have drinks/food you have to throw them away or turn them in and they put it on hold for you. Free entry. The museum is very modern, but honestly the most impressive thing is the exterior. Inside there’s things you can find in any other museum and you most likely saw them already in another museum you already visited here in CDMX

Soumaya Museum was amazing. Architecture by Fernado Romeo is incredible. I loved the exhibitions. One of my favourites was Reloj con Astrolabio. The Soumaya is definitely a space, time, continuum.

Amazing museum, largest collection in North America, soooooooo much history and so much to see in a gorgeous building. Free on Sunday’s and open until 630 so it’s easy to find a way and make a trip here. Totally worth it and highly recommend!!

The museum from the outside and inside is just breathtaking wow! The architecture from the outside is super unique. The inside is super spacious and has lots of beautiful artifacts. The admission was also free!

First, let me say that this museum has fantastic art and one of the best and most diverse collections I’ve seen. I truly believe it rivals top tier museums like the MET and others. Additionally, the framing and layout is great and the architecture is fabulous both inside and out. Also, it’s totally free. Truly a great donation by Carlos Slim (who funds the museumas millions of people who otherwise may not be able to pay admission get to see such beautiful art. It warms my heart thinking of all the people who’ve been able to see quality art due to the free entry.

Soumaya makes an incerdible impression both from the outside (building’s architecture is really uniqueand inisde. With it’s five storeys exhibition it offers a journey through ages, cultures and geographies.

Architecturally interesting building. Eclectic collection of art and artifacts. Felt guilty that I enjoyed the carved ivory collection the most.

The building itself has a very unique and modern design. Theres no entrance fee but once you go in, you cant bring any liquid inside and if you are carrying a big bag then you must leave it at their storage area. The inside is massive. The collections are insanely huge from all around the world. I dont remember how many levels the building was, but it think it was seven floors high. The top floor had all the statues , more than a hundred I think. The building itself is next the mall.

Beautiful museum. We visited on a Tuesday and the entrance was free of charge. If you’re carrying a backpack you’ll have to leave it in a cloakroom at the entrance. It has six floors, each with their own theme. Loved the Mexican art selection.

Incredible museum freely accessible to the public. I really liked how diverse the exhibitions were as well, including a Khalil Gibran exhibit and a series exploring the evolution of the telephone (an apt one considering Slim owns Telcel).

Such a beautiful building, filled with works of art from many eras and movements, impressionists, vanguards, romantics, a ton of amazing sculptures and commented displays makes a perfect modern place.to appreciate art

Love the building itself its 5 stars...but didnt care for the collections displayed...found the inside after the entry very disorganized ...only part I liked were the paintings on the 3rd floor but paintings were jammed into the space.

One of the best museums Ive been to although sometimes the layout wasnt very intuitive. (Or doesnt exist at all in the sculpture level!)I could have gone back again the next day, I liked it that much.FREE thanks to Carlos Slim.

Great spot! Free entry to the museum. You can leave your stuff in a locker for free as well.Go to the 5th floor and walk downwards.Definitely worth a visit, lovely architecture and art collection.

Free museum with a wide range of art. The ground floor has a few large pieces that are quite famous. Then we went all the way to the 5th floor and made our way down.An incredible amount of sculptures on the 5th floor with a few paintings. Roudins sculptures take up a large part of this floor but there are other artists as well.Theirs a floors with musical instruments that felt like a history museum too. Old phones, watches, and picture machines.Tons more art as well. We were expecting to stay for 45 minutes but stayed about 2 hours. It was not busy at all when we went on a Friday

Beautiful museum full of historic art pieces from around Europe and the Americas. This museum is five stories tall so get your walking shoes on. There is a gift shop and cafe for refreshments. There is also one whole floor dedicated to Mexican history.

Why I consider that a good place to visit?FreeOpen on MondaysSeveral halls and different art styles. Its the all inclusive of the museums.

An architectural marvel built by Carlos Slim in memory of his late wife. Surrounded by beautiful city space and several other museums and an aquarium nearby. Very busy so be prepared to wait in line (it is free)

Cool as hell exterior worth the visit for the photos alone . Collection insiders a little disappointing. Three floors. Basically, second floor is completely musical history instruments and top floor is a ethically disturbing display of ivory carving which should be hidden and not glorified.Museum shop is average.Ground floor has a couple of nice paintings, sculptures and pieces.Overall worth of visit and open for COVID Jam 22 when many government museums were not check my other reviews

Beautiful! Cant believe its free to visit! Consider spending 3 to 4 hours here, and even after that, its worth to revisit. There are so many things to see. My favourite was the ivory collection.

Gorgeous building and space! Personally more into contemporary art, so didn’t particularly enjoy the art here, however the space itself is phenomenal and worth checking out. The curved walls as you walk to the upper levels are beautiful, and the top floor has a bright naturally lit room filled with sculptures.

Seems like a nice place. Came here the first time today and was amazed by the architecture. Didn’t end up going inside though since I’m not too much a fan of museums. Definitely come here for the photos though! The building itself is massive and the structure is quite unique for pictures.

Great experience and great art to be seen. Some really good collections. Covid-19 precautions in place. Youll need to check-in you bag/backpack. Five floors of art pieces! I would recommend a visit if in CDMX.

The architecture of the museum is gorgeous and very reminiscent of the Guggenheim in New York - however beware that there are no windows so it does get quite claustrophobic! Oh and the art was good too! (Free entry)

Beautiful museum on the outside, and it’s free to enter! Start at the top and work your way down. I thought that the sculptures on the top level were a bit too crowded. I loved the area with the old telephones and switch boards!

Great place to spend few hours. Did not have high expectations but impressed with some pieces in the collection eg K. Gibran work exhibited there. Beautiful building inside and out. I recommend if having enough time to visit. I did on my second trip to MX city.

Amazing! there is the work of many amazing sculptors and painters. Its a high-level museum. It’s free and the modernist architecture of the building is beautiful.

I find it fascinating that Carlos Slim named this museum after his late wife Soumaya Domit. Fernando Romero son-in-law of Carlos Slim did an amazing architecture work 👏. You can find a large collection of Auguste Rodin and his work The Gates Of Hell. Theres also collections of ancient European masters on display like Leonardo da Vinci, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Joan Miro, Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Bartolome Esteban Murillo, El Greco, Camille Claudel, and Tintoretto. Theres even several Mexican artists work like Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, and large collection of colonial era coins. Overall great experience and a wonderful place to see an amazing art collection not to mention free entrance to the museum 👌🏽 totally worth going... a most if you happen to be in Mexico city 🇲🇽.

Though not my favorite museum in this city—that would be the National Museum of Anthropology—and not housing one of my favorite kinds of collections, this museum is nonetheless a remarkable achievement. Both innovative and informative, the creative use of space leads one up a spiral hallway, moving one through time and through the history of Mexican art and the collecting of art in a very effective way. The exuberant exterior of the museum speaks for itself.

Absolutely loved the Soumaya Museum. There is lots to see, so wear comfortable shoes so you can explore the five different levels. This museum is free to the public, and it has a small gift shop on the ground level where you can buy souvenirs, drinks, and small snacks.

Just because it’s free doesn’t mean it isn’t great or worthy of your time.This is a our museum that serves as a gift to Mexico City from Carlos Slim himself. It is filled with several generational pieces and multiple floors of interesting art.Definitely worth a look. I suspect you can do the museum in 90 minutes or less. There are only a few breath taking pieces that make this spot worthy to enjoy.

If your in CDMX I highly recommend that you take a couple hours and come visit this museum. The Soumaya museum is the personal art collection of Carlos Slim! The museum is free to visit and has some beautiful art to view!!!! There are 6 floors with different types of art from paintings to sculptures to coins to phones etc…. A very impressive art collection that Mr Carlos Slim has put in the museum for all to enjoy!
