Privilege
Smothered pork chops over yellow rice, greens, macaroni n cheese, & cornbread. I had it to go... Delicious as always!
MoreI’m still in line. So it says a lot that I’ve been in line so long until I received a Google survey review. I guess it figured I should have ordered and eaten by now, lol. I got here at 4:17 it’s 4:56. So check back with me Google.
MoreOne of the best soul food spots in Jacksonville FL. Everything on my plate was perfect, someone else I was with complained about the rice being under cooked but I just think they were just being a little too over the top. 5 plus stars ⭐ from me. 👍🏿
MoreYesterday me and my cousin came in around 630pm she got 1plate with porkchops I got a porkchop also both was smothered and I also got the drummetts which was smothered the gravy was so salty and I love the Potterhouse I am use to the older crowd cause the crowd lastnight was off beat but anyway we can come get better plates all them was saved
MoreI was with my family a party of 10. We were able to put tables together so that we could sit comfortably together.
MoreSmothered pork chops and Mac cheese salty. Not just today but every time. Also the food is too spicy.
MoreThe line was very long, but the crew had their service and system down pact, so the wait wasnt long at all. A very good place to visit if youre looking for some good soul food on the west.
MoreI found this gem due to an event being held at the church, the food was delicious! I order the turkey wing dinner with collard greens and sweet potato soufflé. The wait for looooooooong, but it was worth the wait.
MoreI love the food at the Bistro! This is my favorite soul food restaurant in town! I have been eating here for years and I only had a problem once and they took care of it. They will always have my business!
MoreGreat fried chicken. Sides are good seem to be pre packaged and then doctored up. Ie caned yams then added spices and flavors
MoreThe food is decent, but the taste and quality continues to go down. Dont get there at opening because they wont be ready to open the doors and when they do all the food will not be ready
MoreThey need to take more care and time to trim the excess fat off of their oxtails before raising the price man were those oxtails so super tough to chew I had to take them home and put them in the oven for 45 more minutes after trimming off the fat myself.
MoreI dont know who the chef was...he was great..who ever the ch3f is now....In my eyes they have fell way off. Smothered pork chops wer very salty. Pound cake was stale..the service and was great..Ice tea was on point. I WANTED OXTAILS..I SWEAR TO YOU..I dont know what the hell that was they had sitting up there. It look like a science project. AND THEY NEVER HAVE SWEET POTATO PIE..STRAIGHT MONEY MAKER... ITS NEVER ON DECK WHEN I GO..HOWEVER THE LADIES THAT WORK THERE, ARE WONDERFUL!!! THANK U FOR YOU HARD WORK!
MoreThis location is consistent in quality, taste and service. Ive only frequented both locations a few times, but their food is a good As advertised and they are not a disappointment.
MoreOverall: This wasnt hands down the best food Ive ever had, but it was REALLY good nonetheless.People in our party that had been before had raved about the fried chicken, so my wife got a big enough portion that I could have a few bites, too, while I had the shrimp and fish. Both dishes were really good, and I really thought the seasoning on both were unique and tastey, though neither was exceptional. The cornbread (comes with each meal, if Im not mistakentasted almost like cake, so I loved it!The portions are what impressed me most. Each person in our party had more than they could eat, and we all ate well. When one person had to wait on more food to be cooked for their entree, she was offered her sides in advance, then to have the full meal (including addition portions of sidesto be brought when the entree was ready.
MoreFood was great and staff was very helpful for a 1st timer here. Would definitely go back!!
MoreThe oxtails were good. Black eyed peas were good and flavorful, catfish goodt. Ice tea delicious. The only thing I didn’t understand was the canned Yams, why mess up a good thing? Also, make sure you ask for your senior citizen discount.
MoreThis place obviously has no management or a manager with managerial skills. The prices go up the lines are always long and yet no changes. The staff is not friendly or consistent. You would think for this to be associated with a church they would want to provide an atmosphere that Christ would be a part of but I guess not. In the community getting community money and can’t even give a smile or good service.

MoreI am here today on a Sunday I dont know whats wrong with the little lady at the front door but she is very rude and shes my elder and Im trying to be respectful but Im not a child and somebody need to tell her thats bad customer service youre running your customers off very ugly.. must do better!!
MoreThe food was really good. However the cashier and her demeanor was very rude. She didn’t seem friendly at all
MoreWe all had fried pork chops and they were fried to perfection, the only thing we would’ve liked better is for them to be thicker. The greens, macaroni and cheese, yellow rice and green beans were good - that’s from everyone in our party. We were so hungry that we forgot to take pictures.
MoreGreat place for soul food. I ordered friend chicken with two servings of candied yams. (Underneath wrapping). It was good!
MoreThe food was really good and I’d go back. However, the wait time is a bit to be less desired. But, the wait is worth the food. I’d definitely recommend.
MoreThe service was very slow and unorganized.I stood in line over an hour. Employees would just leave their station without any explanation and some seemed annoyed. The quality of the food is okay but for the price the experience could be better. The restaurant itself was messy.
MoreThe food was good. Needs more staff manning the line as it takes a good while to get your phone food and its expensive. I paid $22 for pork chops, drink and a piece of cake. Also, the Mac n cheese reminded me of stove top Mac n cheese. Was disappointed.
MoreThe food here was FANTASTIC!! I was training in Jacksonville and needed a place to eat. I looked for food nearby and Soul food Bistro popped up. I trained for 4 weeks in Jax and ate here a minimum of twice per week. When you drive by a restaurant and you see a line of people out the door, you get in that line! I had smothered pork chops and yellow rice which are amazing. There collards were perfectly seasoned. The mac and cheese may just be the best I had ever had. I also had the fried chicken wings and the meat loaf. All fantastic. The service is friendly. The line is a little slow but worth the wait. I added this to my will definitely visit again list.
MoreThe service and food quality seems to go down every year but prices still rise. Never ready to serve when the doors are open and in a time when you can order online from J Alexander to McDonalds they cannot even get a site up
MoreCurry chicken, cabbage and their super cheesy Mac n cheese. Everything was flavorful and filling as usual! Their ladies restroom is very thoughtful with sanitary pads and lotions available for use. A nice touch with floral arrangements!
MoreFood is great, but lackluster customer service. The people on the serving line dont seem very happy to be there. You smile at them and they stare back. Not surprising, the elders had the most manners...well, except for the older gentleman that wanted to fix himself a plate while the servers attempted to fix the plates so he kept breaking the line. Also, the online app never works and no one ever answers phone. Dont offer them as an option to order food if they dont work. Other than that, its not a bad spot
MoreHad the meatloaf special. So good! Friendly staff. Great price. Good portions. Will definitely go back again.
MoreI took my friend there for the first time and he ordered the Ox Tail dinner and after his first bite he said was Damm this good. I ordered the Shrimp and Fish dinner and was very happy. Love this place and highly recommend them.
MoreI stopped for some good eating , so I tried this place. It was an ok experience; servers were mediocre and not welcoming. I ordered the braised oxtails( my favorite dish btw), they were tender and soft but salty. Mac n cheese and fried cabbage was delish. I wasn’t too happy but will give them another try. The peach cobbler was ok. I haven’t tried the bread pudding yet.
MoreJust went to this place for dinner with my family. Not being from Jacksonville, I looked at the reviews and said we should try this place for dinner. Now I know what good soul food is! Well if you want canned sides, that’s what you are going to get. Mac and cheese, corn bread was good. Shrimp were hard fried. Fried chicken (dark meatwas dry as a bone. Catfish was so-so. Seasoning on the fried food were good. Now for the staff, the first encounter was horrible. She lied about baked chicken stating that there was a wait but then immediately said they didn’t have anymore. The guy on the hot plate line made our experience a little better. He should be commended. The cashier needs some customer service training. She was very incoherent.Jacksonville you deserve better! I wouldn’t recommend this place at all!
MoreThe food is always amazing here. It is a cafeteria style setting with some of your favorite soul food dishes. They give you a very generous serving of food. My only advice is to avoid going on Sundays. It is always a very long line at both locations. The location on Atlantic REQUIRES you wear a mask in the restaurant. The other location is more relaxed on that rule and is not a requirement. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for really good food and great portions.
MoreSo delicious. Every bite was bursting with flavor. I had the fried pork chops, Mac n cheese, greens, and it also came with yellow rice with some gravy from the smothered pork chops. Will definitely come back. Worth the cost in my opinion.
MoreMy fish and shrimp was good, the chicken wing wasn’t seasoned and our yams wasn’t done or barely had sugar. They was so hard omg. The had to switch they cook or something. My peach tea was the bomb.
MoreThis food is Slap your mama good! They season food like my mama, grandma and my Aunt Doretha... its like a family reunion in your mouth. The only thing they need to fix, is that rude male server on the peas, last night..1 Aug 2021.Great job!
MoreIve always heard great reviews about this place so me and my coworkers decided to try it to day for lunch. We got the oxtails and they were over cooked or old. It looked like shredded pork and stuck to my teeth bad. It was sticky and chewy. Tired to call down there and nobody ever picked the phone up. It was def a waste of my $15. Hopefully it was just a bad day.
MoreSoul Food Bistro blew my taste buds away. Every Soul Food Item from the heritage of our African American Mothers & Fathers is here. All the way down to that GOOD OLSKOOL SUNDAYS JAMMING DINNER SWEET POTATO PIE. I am very proud to say that this restaurant is huge with plenty of space to bring your entire family reunion, business co-workers and graduation celebrations. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AT SOUL FOOD BISTRO AND THANK YOU FOR KEEPING THOSE AFRICAN AMERICAN RECIPES SECRET TASTING GOOD!
MoreOMG...Can you say delicious?? Been twice both times I just wanted to run back and hug the cook. Reminded me of my grandmothers Sunday dinners. Outstanding!💙💚💛
MoreThe food was really really good and seasoned very well! I received nice portions and you get a lot for your money! Id definitely eat here again when I come back to Jville!
MoreI don’t know why I’m so late going to Soul Food Bistro. I guess because I have a mom that can cook me any true Southern meal whenever I want. I’m really picky about my Southern food since I’m a native Georgia Peach, but my little cousin repeatedly told me how great this place is. I’ll agree the food is pretty good. It still isn’t my moms food, but still a really good alternative if you don’t want to slave in the kitchen to have a good home cooked down South coma dinner lol.I got the fried chicken which was fried good and seasoned nicely. I got a taste of my cousin’s oxtails. They were very tender. The cabbage was okay, but my cousin and I both agreed they were missing something today. No biggie though. The food still was still really good, and I loved the variety cafeteria style. I’ll definitely come back when I have taste of home and need a close substitute. Nice job Soul Food Bistro.
MoreSoul food should always contain soul and love. This is my 3rd time eating from here, 2nd at this location. Im still waiting to taste the love or soul in this food. Unfortunately Ive given it more than one chance, but Im not impressed. Good for after church platters, but I would not have built an entire restaurant with that level of cooking or service.
MoreThe customer service is always great and diverse. I love the oxtails greens n mac i get it every time. They have great food and the prices arent bad for the portions.
MoreCame here at 6:45 pm on a Friday evening. Clean place good customer service. Ordered the fried chick (dark meatwith mac and cheese and collard greens. Chicken was juicy. Collard greens had a decent flavor as well as the mac and cheese. Paid 10.69 for my meal
MoreBe prepared you will have to wait, but its so worth the wait. This food makes me feel like Im at grandmas house. Good southern soul food cooking! The people are very nice and welcoming. Ill definitely be back!
MoreBe prepared to wait in line. The food is awesome so you will be waiting in line. It is worth it. Bring some headphones to listen to music while you wait. I went on a sunday and it was about 30 min wait. They fill your plate up and you will get full no doubt about that. Dont sleep on this place
MoreTHE best soul food in town hands down. We must visit here before we leave Jacksonville every single time. The wait can be a bit much sometimes but once you get the food, it is so worth it. Nothing but deliciousness!
MoreThis is the kind of food your momma or your grandmomma cooks. Southern, reminiscent of childhood. Full of flavor. The fried cabbage was the best thing on our plates. We tried ox tails, smothered pork chop and fried pork chop. Loved the corn bread as well. I would highly recommend this place for some good ole soul food.
