Soul Food - Restaurant in Qormi, Malta
Used to like this place for healthy vegan. But super average this last time around, and server insisted on selecting currency for me on transaction costing me extra. Won’t bother coming back. Shame.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was good 👍
Easy place for a quick lunch. Good variety of dishes, and smoothies especially. Food is tasty.
Excellent place for breakfast, lunch or dinner or just for a drink. Nice choices of vegetarian items. Good quality and extreme friendly service. Highly recommended.
Food is great, but burger bun a little soggy but still alright. Service is great but they forgot my coffee order but their smile overwrite that. Highly recommended for Veg and Vegan
Pleasant spot for a drink of bio wine 🍷 nice staff and a good location to people watch.
Mama and I went to that restaurant with a big sign Vegan, we sat down and then, we realized that is a veggie restaurant with some vegan option.I ordered the bowl with lentil burger who was ok but nothing special, even the vegetables wasn’t fresh. My mam order the vegan pasta but they didn’t have vegan cheese so the taste of past was under of average.I hope to improve there products.
The cofe with coconut milk...very fine....glutén free foods
The food is extremely mediocre, both on the vegan side and the meat dishes. The pesto was absolutely abismal and the "deserts" were either stale cakes or frozen lemonade passed off as "sorbet". Despite having 4 waiting staff, not a single one was tending to any of the 3 tables occupied. Avoid.
Burger had three ingrediens, 2 small pieces of tomato, 1 slice of onion and small piece od beyond meat hidden under bigger but still small Burger bun... my girlfriend lentil burger was so bad that i wanted to spit it out after first bite i took .... soul food never again!!!
I feel like paying as much money as we did in Soulfood you would expect exceptionally tasty and full of variety meals. It was huge disappointment, food was bland, not seasoned properly, mostly made from ready, frozen ingredients. I feel like name of restaurant was pretty misleading in that case.I wouldn’t recommend this place honestly, service was nice and kind. That’s the only reason I gave two stars.
Nice food, nice atmosphere, very good smoothie and moscow mule! Friendly stuff. Place to go for vegans/vegeterians!! Dont miss
Tasty food, friendly staff and a great variety of meals
We kinda had high hopes for this restaurant as there arent many vegan/veggie options in Valetta but it didnt live up to our expectations. We ate a burger and a bowl but the portions very tiny (despite the full priceand the food was very basic chopped together.Kinda sad because the staff was kind and the places to sit are very cute.
Very friendly Service, we had parmigiana and caprese, food was really tasty and fresh. We ate quite late but they were still very welcoming.
Very good place for a lunch in Valetta. Very good Italian dishes and refreshing salads. You should definitely try one of their smoothie.
Absolutely Brilliant, a must when visiting Valletta Malta. Merchant st Valletta
Original vegan and vegetarian dishes. Pasta was nice. I also liked the lemonade. Friendly staff
lovely staff and the best vegetarian food i’ve had in malta so far !!
Perfect for our lunch!Plenty veggie and vegan options. Nice people working here. You can get basic dishes or nice specials.
We had lunch here with my friend. We were excited to try the Buddha bowls. I had the tofu bowl and was unaware that “marinated” means only marinated and not cooked at all, which is not how I like it. When I asked the waiter if this is how it is supposed to be, he told me that he doesn’t work in the kitchen and he doesn’t know. As a waiter, you should know what you have on the menu!! I asked if it’s possible to heat up the tofu but they said that’s not an option, so I left hungry and spent 14 euros for nothing. We waited for the bill for almost 20 minutes if not more, the staff is so unfriendly, don’t care for you to have a good experience at all. Overall- very bad service.
Super friendly waitresses, excellent choice for vegans and vegetarians, also gluten free options were available. The food came quickly and was really good!
Not the first time we have eaten here but not sure we would return again which is a shame as there not many places like this in Malta. My avocado platter at almost €14 was really not worth the price. Half a not particularly ripe or tasty avo, less than half a mozzarella ball, a couple of tasteless cherry tomatoes, a meagre amount of beetroot and hummus and two slices of bland toast - not even Maltese bread. Oh and lets not forget the four olives straight out of brine, not even any oil or herbs added. My partners chick pea burger was okay, but a bit dry apparently, while the accompanying fries were so salty they were inedible. On the plus side the prosecco and Negroni were good and the glass of ice to add to our water was a nice touch. The staff here are one minute attentive and smiley (almost too much it makes you wonder if it is fakeand then act like everything is all too much effort and that is just within one meal.
Their avocado breakfast is the best we found in Valetta. Absolutely delicious and they have fans And misters outside so you’re comfortable in the heat. Love it!
Delicious vegan and vegetarian options, especially for breakfast. Tasty, well-priced and great vibe. Outdoor seating with mist was also amazing in the summer heat. :)
Ok service and nice place but the good was so tasteless. You need to give the vegan food some flavour and love. At least some lemon juice or herbs.. avocado was unripe, coleslaw was just raw cabbage and brocolli and eggplant was just plain sad. My partner, who had ordered the beyond burger had made the better choice but also a bit dry.
We didn’t even eat here, I was waiting to ask how long the wait would be. I could only see two free waitresses talking to each other, I waited till they were done and said ‘excuse me’, but they both walked away. I just said oh okay, calmly, but one of them turned round and snapped at me very rudely and sarcastically said ‘hi, I’m here, there’s loads of staff, so what do you want?’ I asked how long the wait would be and she said ‘about 20 minutes rudely and that huffed off.I had been looking forward to eating here and this just wasn’t necessary, they just think because they’re busy they can talk to people how they like. Definitely never coming back here now.
We have been here twice because it was so delicious! Lovely service and the location is just fantastic, we will come back a third time for sure :)
Very tasty vegan food!We enjoyed it!
The food was excellent, I havent eaten such perfect vegan food in a long time. I really have nothing to complain about when speaking about food. However, the staff was not very interested in us, they saw that we had already chosen but did not come to ask us what we would like to order and we waited for a long time for food to come. There were a lot of people here, but there are also a lot of waitresses so the order may be completed a bit faster.
Very delicious and tasty! The staff is very friendly! Thank you for the good vibes!
Great vegan options, staff is extremely helpful. Portions are well-sized and well-priced for the location. The food was very genuine and there was a good variety of healthy choices.
I really wanted this place to be nice. We ordered the Tofu Buddha Bowl which sounded really nice. However was quite disappointed by this dish. The coconut cappuccino was lovely but didn’t enjoy the Buddha bowl so much. The rice was watery, houmous was very salty and the tofu wasn’t very nice at all. Was also expecting more raw veggies with a bit of crunch but was served overcooked boiled veggies instead. Also a lot of flies around which was quite off putting! Staff were lovey though so can’t fault them on that.
The food looks nice but it was tasteless, the vegetables were frozen, the pasta had no taste, it wasn’t fresh and it was 14€ for the budha bowl.. not worth it. The location is nice and the staff too.. but no quality
Very simple meals but very tasty and healthy. The pasta is wholegrain, there are vegan options. I was satisfied.
I am rarely so dissatisfied with a service. The staff took forever to take my order and even longer to actually take my payment. We had to call them three times before we were actually able to pay. The staff member who had to come and get our money was strolling around, chatting to passers by, randomly giving info on available items and options, as well as taking new orders while we were waiting. The food itself was also disappointing. I am vegetarian for ages and personally cook pasta a lot. I also visit Italy often and am a huge fan of their food and culture. Well, the ravioli were dry and swamped with canned tomato sauce and capers, with a few olives thrown around. This is not how you cook pasta, sorry. In addition, me and my friend ordered different dishes and were given the exact same sauce. There were tons of onions inside which were not noted as an ingredient in the menu. When the staff were notified, they offered giving us free cheese... The smoothies were fresh and tasty but I would not give this place any more of my money.
We were very well welcomed and had a very nice service. The concept of healthy eating was nice, the salad was perfect the way we asked. The pasta was too salty for me but seemed fresh and tasted good overall (I don’t eat salty at all but someone who does might enjoy it more). It was great to have pit stop from the walk and I’d recommend the Buda bowls because I was eying them on the other tables with envy 😅
The place was charming, but unfortunately the service was not so good, as we expected. Definitly not a proper price-value-ratio. That raw cake, you might see on the picture, is the raw carrot cake for 5,5 Euro. I have to eat GF, so I did not hesitate to try it out, but that was like the rest puree from the mixer, after you create some carrot smoothie. But at least it is smartly reused :D
Unfortunately this was not the best choice, we ordered 2 avocado toasts. One was burned and I told that to the staff, at the beginning they said ok they will exchange it so I asked for something cheaper instead but said I would pay the price for the toast. They said OK. When we got the bill they wanted us to pay for 3 things (including the burned toast that they agreed to exchange! and never before stated that we have to pay additionally). When we said that we wont pay for the 3 things as one was exchanged, the staff started arguing with us saying that I didnt taste the burn as it wasnt burned according to them. We asked to call the manager and in the end we payed for 2 items but he staff WAS NOT nice at all. Its the first time we had such experience. The food itself was nothing special, you could make it at home probably. The location is nice and they have a lot of vegan options. Maybe some other dishes would be a better choice.
Cute little vegan place in the middle of Valletta. Happy with what we’ve got: Chickpea Burger (a burger bun would make it 100% Burger 😉), Beetroot Buddha Bowl and Homemade Sangria with plenty of apple and orange bits. They also have a gazebo terrace for the rainy days.
Service was nice. I had the vegan spirulina pasta and the pasta was great. Just overall the dressing and veggies werent very special. Tasty but just not special.+ point is the area, and the place just looked lovely. Nice menu design!
Really nice place with friendly staff, a little bit pricy althoug we expected that since its one of the few vegan restaurants in Malta. We had 2 buddha bowls, they looked better than tasted. Chickpea burger was really dry and food was quite dull it taste. Crunchy mini burgers were very good. It is a good choice if you want something vegan or vegetarian but it didnt impress us.
Soul Food is a lovely little restaurant in Valetta which offers vegetarian and vegan meals and drinks. We visited early December and sat outside. Staff was friendly and helpful. We can recommend the lentil burger and raw carrot cake, as well as the banana/coconut/cinnamon milkshake. Food portions were generous and we would visit again.
"....looking for soul food and a place to eat..."sang Lou Reed. We were looking for a place to eat and to recover after enduring unforgiving steepness walking the streets of Valletta.Great service and ambiance. Lots of Vegan options available. I had Alba Piadina (Parma ham, mozzarella, rocket and truffle oil in an Italian flatbreadIt was good. The gf had vegan chickpea burger piadina. This was really good. Couple of glasses of Maltese chardonnay. €30 totalHighly recommended.
A good restaurant if looking for vegan. They provide a wide range of menu items and the dishes we had were both very nice indeed. They also offer a number of organic wines. Service is good and prices typical for Valletta. Glad we went and we will return.
Soul Food ... Perfect name for this small restaurant on a street of restaurants in old town Valletta. It can be difficult to find decent vegan food when away from home so I used the Happy Cow app and really pleased that I did.I had a Buddha bowl with lentil burger plus seed mix and they were happy to swap out the Asian slaw for extra veg & olives. Really tasty and very filling. Plus a mandarin & prickly pear juice which was also very good. Its not all vegan and they have a good selection of drinks including Bio wine.I wanted to try the Ayurvedic soup but they only serve it in winter so Ill have to go back to Malta!
Had read about Soul Food online and were excited to eat Vegan food. There are quite a few Vegan options. We had Buddha Bowl and Pasta for the kids. Pasta was yummy and was just perfect for our kids! They really liked it and we ordered another bowl for them! (Satisfying to see the kids fill up their stomach and want more☺️). But the Buddha Bowl was OK and was expensive as well. The ambience was good.
Had the lentils burger and a freshly made juice (apple, lemon, ginger and orange juice). The burger was nice, a bit too much mustard to my taste, would have preferred some vegan mayo instead. Very welcoming service and nice atmosphere.
Been there 3 times so far, and the service and food were always good. Several vegan options (including desertseven more so for vegetarians, and you can make few dishes gluten free, if needed.Make sure to try the Buddha bowls and the za’tar couscous salad, anything with the marinated tofu is just insanely good! Overall not on the cheap side but portions are big/filling enough.
Would definitely recommend this place for lunch. Lovely to sit out under the umbrella’s, with a coffee and delicious food - we were spoilt for choice with this menu. We had the piadina with Parma-ham, mozzarella, truffle oil and rocket and was delish !! Moderately priced; nice atmosphere; friendly staff; would come again !
