Relaxed, homey stop for Southern-style soul grub like smoked ribs, collard greens & ox tails.
Great soul food! Dont go here on a diet! Ms. Cooks fried fish is my fav!! You find yourself even picking up the little crumbs that fall off your fried fish!!Definitely kid friendly as you can see in the picture the fried ribs are finger licking good!
Somebody here definitely knows how to cook…New location is bigger & very clean & inviting. Food is completely OFF THE CHAIN!
First of all let me start off by saying GO EXPERIENCE it yourself ,Im giving them 5 stars because every bit of my food was absolutely amazing! Youll love it after a long day of work . Quality food ,affordable prices , nice quantity !! We will be back for sure
STOP THE PRESSES ! HOLD THE PHONE and WOAHHH NELLIE !!!!! We have eaten at almost every restarant on the island and there is NONE that can HOLD a candle to this place for good ole down to earth Soul food Cookin!. Soul to Soul needs to be added to your bucket list of places to eat folks. The service was AWESOME the ordering was easy and they check on you OFTEN. Sorry I dont have a picture of the food. I ate it.They are on Broadway rite next to Crickett. Plenty of room.. ENJOY...
Amazing food! No wait, had my order in just a few minutes.Definitely will be back.
I have heard how good the food and everyone was spot on! I wanted to try the fried ribs but couldn’t resist the special of the day - smothered pork chops! I don’t think I even chewed as the meat melted in my mouth! Cabbage and fries and great service and hospitality. Will be back for ribs asap!
Great food! Just go you will like it.
If you havent tired this place. Plz do food amazing. Every thing on point and season right
Saw they had meatloaf as a special. Had to try it. It was very good. The green beans were delicious. Some of the best Ive had in a long time. I grabbed some banana pudding on the way out. It was so good! Very friendly staff. Definitely going back to try their pork chops.
Firs time at new address. Food was as good as I remember. Don’t often order cabbage out as I like my recipe but this was kick butt good. Fried ribs definitely top notch. Will be back.
Some of the best southern food Ive eaten! Fried ribs and all of the sides were delicious! Fast and friendly service as well. Definitely enjoyed going here while in Galveston for vacation.
New location is nice.Good place for ladies lunch.
If you’re a “I don’t eat everybody’s greens and potato salad” type of person, you will ADORE this place. Customer service is wonderful and the food is even better. EVERYTHING in both photos is delicious. A wonderful home cooked meal feeling. We will definitely be visiting every time we come to Galveston.
The fried ribs!! Potato salad is the closest Ive found to my family recipe.
Quaint place with above average wings. A locals place for home cooking.
Always fantastic food from the kitchen of owner Ouida Cook. Highly recommended!!
Great place to eat near the docks. Friendly service. Clean establishment. The catfish was cooked to perfection and they gave us a lot of shrimp for the price. Cornbread muffins were sooooo good. One of the best restaurants in Galveston. Highly recommend!
I came last august and ate here it was immaculate, the fried ribs where crispy hot and delicious… I just ate there today and the ribs were cold and soggy… more like wet and not fried long enough… I came from Dallas and looked forward to this dish but was highly disappointed 😔…. The sides were awesome…
We try and come here everytime were in galveston. We come about 4-5 times a year just to get away..this is a MUST STOP!! The food is always hot fresh and amazing!! The owner is nothing short of amazing!!! This is definitely the best southern soul food in texas. Its not a very big place. Its not main steam but small comfortable friendly and warming! The fried ribs and cabbage are to die for..and chicken spaghetti is a side dish! The banana pudding is fluffy as a cloud.. And the meatloaf taste like Jesus was in the kitchen himself. after a good day at the beach nothing better than soul 2 soul to put u right to sleep in your hotel! You can tell she puts her whole soul into the food and right to yours! And can i just say her food brings all kinds of people in for the universal love of food! This place is simply amazing!!! Love it!
If you want to experience your grandmothers Southern home cooking and travel through the African American food history lens, visit Soul2Soul! The savory and generous cuisine delights your palate and spirit! The food is just one of the components to this unique restaurant. Ms. Quida welcomes you with warmth, silver service, and a sincere ear connecting your soul through the healing of food! I highly recommend this restaurant whether a local or a tourist!
Great fish! Its hard to find home style fish on the island. The fish and green beans were delicious! Great place to buy a fish dinner for Lent. I will be coming back to pick up a fish dinner for Lent. Thank You!
Nieces had the chicken wings. Wife had the chicken tenders. I got the shrimp and catfish. Everyone was satisfied. The food was just awesome. Comparable to Mary Macs in Atlanta. The lady working the front of the house was delightful. Can’t wait to return!
Dont make it down to Galveston much any more but when I do I try to eat out at a new place and was close to Soul 2 Soul today. Picked up three to go plates 1. fried ribs, cheesy potato casserole, & cabbage, 2. Catfish, black eyed peas, green beans. 3. Catfish, black eyed peas, cabbage. The food is phenomenal, the ribs are the best I have ever had and the sauce is incredible. The wait was a little long but its a small shop and the owner was so sweet and apologetic about the wait. Absolutely 110% worth it, one of the best things Ive ever eaten. The sides were all delicious as well.
We are from out of town and we stopped in to grab lunch. The owner was friendly, customer service was great and the food was amazing. We will definitely come back when we are in town and you should too. Dont hesitate.
A hidden and secret gem of a soul food restaurant. They say soul food, but its really just good southern cooking. The smothered pork chop is a huge cut of meat with good gravy on rice. It was so big it made two meals. The catfish was good, but their tartar sauce was just a packaged sauce. I think they could make something better. The collard greens were good but too salty for me.I look forward to coming back and trying other items.
If youre going through Galveston...or even if you live there...you have GOT to stop by and fill your belly with some of Ms. Oiudas DELICIOUS comfort food! Absolutely everything on the menu is amazing, but my favorite is the fried ribs!!! YES! I said FRIED RIBS!!! The sauce on these ribs?!? Mmmm...Mmmm...MMMM!!! (Its her daddys recipe...Dont even ask...I triedDo yourself a favor and thank me later...Stop by Soul 2 Soul. Tell her "The Cheer Judge" sent you...😉
New Years 2021 started off with one of the best home cooked meals I have ever enjoyed on the island. Our lunch included Smothered Porkchops, cabbage, dirty rice, black eye pea and cornbread. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Make sure you put this “hot spot” on your next stop. Friendly atmosphere!
DELICIOUS FOOD!! After my son and I ate our meals at the restaurant we took 3 meals to go so that I could try almost everything on the menu. It was all amazing and perfectly seasoned. I want to call “Diners, Drive-in and Dives” show Guy Fieri and have him try this good.
I truly enjoy my food. I feel so much at home when I go in. Mrs.Cook does a wonderful job when she come out to entertain the people she served she make sure you are ok see if its any thing else you need. The food is great have you licking your fingers with them fried ribs.
I went while at work and our food was ready in a reasonably short time but during that time we talked with the owner who was very charming. I wish we were not working that day because we had as much fun talking with the owner as we did eating our food. Ask for the fried ribs, I had the catfish my coworker had the ribs now while the catfish was great I tasted the ribs and next time thats what I will have😊. It was our first time the but we will eat there every time we are in Galveston now. As a matter of fact I am hoping to go back this week and get those ribs. Quick service, great taste and great conversation. Its all there.
This was my first time eating from Soul 2 Soul and I think they were having an off-day because other reviews and their word of mouth reputation seems to be pretty good. we ordered through WaitR. I ordered the vegetable plate with cabbage, pinto beans, and rice and gravy. The rice was hard which normally would not be a big deal but since it was 1/3 of my food I was a little disappointed. The pinto beans were good. But the cabbage was excellent; I could eat that all day! The cornbread had good flavor but a tad over cooked at the bottom. My coworker was not impressed with the ribs. Im going to give them the benefit of the doubt and I will try it again on a different day. I didnt want to rate lower than a 3 stars because I know how it is in the restaurant business and that cabbage was very yummy.
First of all the owner is super nice and welcoming. Felt like I was at my family house. Now the food...OMG soooooooooooooooo DELICIOUS! EVERYTHING was seasoned to perfection. We had catfish, oxtails, fried chicken, green beans, and cabbage. They were all amazing, if I didnt have a 4hr ride home I would have got a plate to go. This place is a must go to!
Great little hole im the wall place. Good home cooked meal, decent price and the owner and her staff were very welcoming. Would definitely recommend if your in the area.
Love the soul food, great customer service and friendly staff. If you looking to fulfill your soul food craving come on and try Soul 2 Soul cafe, you wont be disappointed.
Great hidden gem. All homemade comfort foods. Fried pork chops and ribs to die for. Small place so come early or late.
What a great local Galveston place. We had the smothered pork chop that came with rice and gravy. It also came with two sides. Everything was so good. We didn’t need any salt or pepper. There was so much flavor in everything. The place is small, nothing fancy, and the lady that takes the order is very friendly. Can’t wait to go back.
This was a complete win. Wed never been here before so we didnt know what to expect. But the smell of good food in the air when we walked in said everything. My mom got the pork chops, fall apart so you dont need a knife amazingness served with a gravy that is heavenly. My husband got fried ribs, addictively good!! Great sauce! And I got catfish and shrimp... Fresh and juicy, my black eyed peas were the bomb, and the dirty rice was some of the best Ive had. Totally coming back here, theyve won a customer for life!
The owner is an amazing person. Her food is DELISH!! We got the fried rib plate with cabbage and the fried catfish with chicken spaghetti. Everything on the plates were very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be eating here every time I’m in the area. Well done Ms. Cook!!!
There arent enough stars to sufficiently review this place! The food is super good! We had the meatloaf and it was super flavorful! But more than the food...the service! The owner was legitimately the sweetest woman I have ever met! I would come here every day just because of her kindness but add their amazing food to the mix and you cant lose here!
It was all good, if you could scratch and taste, here it is!
I love love ❤️😍 this place. 1st the owner is so sweet and has the best personality. 2nd the atmosphere inside made me feel right at home. Great music and food. Try the fried ribs and the Banana Pudding 😋😁😋 The pudding gave me life. Seriously havent had pudding like that since my moms. Definitely a place worth your time.
Never disappoints! Both the owner and food are amazing!!! We drive from over an hour a way just to eat here!
As said in some other reviews its not a fancy or upscale place but what you will find is very friendly and welcoming service with a smile and some really good food at a reasonable price. I too tried the fried ribs for 1st time which are cooked when ordered and reminded me of fried pork chops. The house made sauce was also different and super good but you should try it on side 1st time to be sure you like it. Mashed potatoes and brown gravy with seasoned green beans completed my meal and I enjoyed all while listening to some good soul music. My whole meal with drink was less than $10 so Ill be returning. Dont take my word though, get over there and eat.
Omgosh...DO NOT DRIVE URSELF HERE LOL because once u take a bite u will not be able to stop...I am so glad I found this place on a Tuesday...I called in and ordered the oxtails, green beans, and black eyed peas...By the time i got there 5 min later it was bagged and ready to go...The waitress was super nice...Then by the time i got over the causeway it was entirely gone!!! T minus 11 min and i was finished! I live in Dickinson and this place makes me want to go to Galveston every Tuesday...Every single thing was truely the best ive ever had...From the oh so sweet corn bread muffin to the green beans had so much soul food flavor...I was so impressed i wanna try it all but then again it was so good i want the same thing again and again and again lol 👍🏼👍🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantastic food;great finger licking; cant stop eating. So get out there and eat there. The restaurant is a small place but great to eat.
I dont have enough good things to say about Soul2Soul. We walked in 30 minutes before close, and the cheerful owner and her staff assured us they didnt mind at all ("Thats what were here for!"). My husband and I ordered almost exactly the same thing -Meatloaf, Mashed Spuds, and our choice of 2 sides. Food was served very quickly and was steaming hot. We were so busy chatting with the owner - shes a lovely lady - that we almost forgot to eat.But let me tell you...when we tried everything we were astonished and ecstatic. Those are some seriously good eats. I live in Atlanta, and Im telling you Ive yet to find a soul food restaurant in GA as good as this one. 8 hrs later, Im still thinking about what an awesome experience Soul2Soul is. Incredible food and great company. We will definitely be back...and we also may give up on finding anything close in GA. 10/10.
Its a small hole-in-the-wall kind of place, but the food was awesome! The fried ribs were crunchy, but not greasy, and the mustard sauce was a perfect way to top it off. The green beans were the best Ive had. Definitely coming back!
A small cafe with big plates popular with the locals. I came for the oxtail, but none today so I had the smothered pork chop. Tender with probably the best gravy Ive ever had. Wife got the fried ribs, and they are amazing. Thin, barely there but super crunchy breading, not greasy at all, with a killer mustard sauce. Will be back every time Im Im Galveston!
The food was delicious, and it was a very friendly environment.
Absolutely Great! My husband and I made this our first stop on our vacation because of the reviews and the food(chicken wingswe ate were awesome so much so that we plan to make this our last stop as well before we leave the island. Besides the great food the young lady that took our order has excellent customer service she made us feel so welcome. The owner (Ms. Cookis so kind & humble she actually came out and had a conversation with us and you just dont get that in places these days. If your ever in the area its a must stop!
