Spanish-inspired small plates & drinks offered in a quaint, stylish space with exposed-brick walls.
This restaurant exceeded my expectations! From the seating to the ambiance. Everything was top notch.
This was a great find. The food is amazing, and so is the ambience. Try the scotch eggs, the beet salad... actually everything was great. Definitely coming back.
Unbelievable experience. We were served incredible food, with excellent suggestions, by the owner himself! Inexpensive Moroccan and Scottish cuisine? Yes please! This was so good, the interesting food, the nice little place, the food! The Buffalo Cauliflower and sliders were superb, highly, highly recommend Sorocco!
Incredible value! Every single dish was expertly prepared to deliver a fireworks show of flavour and texture! Excellent service as well, highly recommend dining here, I cant wait to return!
Super friendly service, cozy atmosphere and best of all, delicious food. Everything we tried was so tasty. My girlfriend and I took 7 tapas between the two of us and I was the perfect amount
Really delicious tapas. We ordered a bottle to share plus multiple tapas (about 2-3 eachand were full and very happy at the end of the meal. Great food, service and ambiance. Plus the pricing was great!
We called around 6 and they were able to get us in at 8:30, which was great. We did the pre-fixe menu and it was exceptional!! All of the tapas we had were amazing and the meal was very well-paced. We were all so full at the end, and we rarely feel full from the overpriced tapas we have in NYC! The staff was so accommodating from start to finish and we couldnt have asked for a better first meal in Montreal.
Best meal Ive had in quite some time. Would recommend getting the lobster croquettes, beet salad (best dish), scallops, calamari, and Scotch eggs. Wouldnt order the short rib terrine as it was a bit dry. Top-notch service and everyone we interacted with was charming and friendly.
Super tasty dishes and great service! I will definitely be back! A nice varied menu with so many good options. I would suggest they add more vegetarian or vegan dishes-maybe something with beans or lentils for sustenance. Loved it!
I had a beautiful diner with moroccan friends. The entire table shared tasty tapas and everyone was able to taste each dish. I would definitely recommend to large groups of close friends. The manager Driss and his team have excellent sense of humor and hospitality.
Nice selections of tapas for the fixed price menu.
Went to Sorocco as we were next to Mont Royal metro and wanted a good meal. We were not disappointed! Service is good, hospitable friendly staff, the waiter came and explained the menu in a very detailed manner. We ordered the fried Calamari (one of the best fried i had), meat balls, kefta burgers, croquettas Sorocco, beetroot goatcheese salad. Impeccable. It is a Tapas place so it it meant for sharing. Dont expect big portions, but when you share different delicious items you will be happy! And thats not to speak of the dessert we had, caramel dark chocolat biscuit. Simply Loved it! 👍 A place id go back to and a place you definitely need to check out!
Lovely service, and surprisingly good and tasteful menu! Lived near this place for three years and never noticed it (unless it like just opened).
Excellent service, friendly and comfortable. Food was delicious. We were 3 so tried many items on the menu, all were so tasty. Ribs and lobster were extra special.
I was there to celebrate my birthday and it didnt disappoint me!! Very attentive staff, we have chosen the tasting menu ($30,00 per personthat has a great variety of tapas, everyone at the table was pretty satisfied with the amount of food served, and had a very nice time!
Service, décor, food are all incredible. We made reservations. Its small, probably can fit 30-40 max. Good for small groups or a date.Pretty sure its the owner that went through the menu with us. Its extremely well priced and good portions to share. We got 17 plates total for 7, a bottle of red, and we were stuffed by the end. The food is well paced and they bring it out "au fur et à mesure".Its not at all the noisy. Everything tasted delicious. Will be going back.
FABULOUS AND DELICIOUS !!If there were the possibility of a SIXTH STAR we would give it to this wonderful tapas restaurant. We thought that we were back in Seville, Spain at one of their famous tapas bars. We thoroughly enjoyed the beet salad, the cauliflower, the calamari and the shrimp tapas. The owner, Ben, was extremely helpful and friendly. Anytime we go back to Montreal Sorocco will be on our "must dine at" bucket list!! Thanx, Ben !!
Good portions for tapas. Good service. Loved the cauliflower. Calimari was ok. Wished there was more choices. The good ones ended up to be all fried stuff.
Food was really quite good. Service started out so well, they were so nice and then disappeared. They started preparing for the second seating and then stopped serving us. No, “how is everything”, no “can I get you some ....”, no offer of coffee or dessert.
Our dining experience here was A-OK. Sorocco was right around the corner from the apartment we were staying at in Montreal, and the reviews made it seem like a no brainer to come here. We were the first ones in for dinner service, and we managed to snag a nice table right by the front window. The owner and waiters were all extremely friendly and welcoming. The person who I assume to be the owner took his time to walk us through the entire menu, make recommendations, and introduce us to how this restaurant does things. We ordered four plates – the Serrano Croquetas, Meatballs, Fried Calamari, and Scotch Eggs. For me, the Scotch Eggs were the high point – semi-soft boiled quail eggs encased in a flavorful, spicy sausage and breadcrumb mixture. The eggs were well seasoned and hit just the right amount of spice. The texture was fantastic. The Fried Calamari was sliced in a unique way I hadn’t seen before and fried to perfection. It was very good, but I think it could have been even better with a little bit more of the sweet chili sauce. This was probably my second favorite. The Serrano Croquetas came in third, flavorful but not warmed up enough in the center in my opinion. Lastly, the meatballs. They were tasty and I enjoyed them, but they didn’t blow me away. Overall, we had a good meal and are happy we came to Sorocco.
Nice place, the menu is small but our selections were really good. The Short Rib Poutine was delicious. I would say to steer clear of the cocktails, we had a cucumber mojito that was the special and it tasted like sprite, with maybe a little bit of simple syrup added. The Sangria was no better. I would recommend sticking with beer or wine.
I went there with my boyfriend’s mom as a girl’s night out. It was a small but cozy comfortable place. Very nice interior design and quite romantic ambiance. Our waiter is really nice. Food quality over all is good. Definitely worth the price. We ordered 4 tapas plates and it’s enough for both of us. I would recommend their short rib terrine. It’s sweet with a nice touch of kimchi. Their Phil Phil shrimp was very good too. Try their veggie of the day, we got asparagus and it was quite yummy. Croquettes is a must try as well, loved the taste. I got a cocktail named pineapple lion, $8 for a cocktail that size is satisfying. If you love tapas and don’t want the meal to be too expensive, try this place. Would love to go back in the near future.
The food was amazing but I can only give this restaurant 3 stars due to their terrible service. We ordered 4 dishes and the first 3 came quickly but we waited at least 30 minutes for our last dish. It was rather odd that none of the servers noticed that we were sitting there without food for such a long time. Finally, we flagged down a server and reminded him of the forgotten dish. We waited at least 10 more minutes for the dish while watching others receive the same one. By that point, we were frustrated and wanted to leave. It’s too bad because we were interested in ordering more. The cost of the forgotten dish was deducted from the bill but we still left disappointed.
Totally under-the-radar and totally delicious. Had calamari, shrimp, and scallops, all cooked to perfection. Couldnt stop so we ordered the sliders, and despite being stuffed, devoured them. Phenomenal service, and great prices. Go.
We had a table of 13 for a bachelorette party and they treated us like Queens! They had great suggestions and gave us so much food! The food tatsed amazing, so flavorful!
Tried several of their tapas and found that they were all so delicious and very reasonably priced. The waiters were very friendly and the owner came several times to check in on us. The scallops were probably my favourite! Must try!
Awsome first experience in this bar & tapas. You make 7 new happy customers. We try a bit of everything the chef choose for us. He work with our budget and we add extra things for menu a la carte. Beer a d cocktails. Well come back any time soon.
I was a bit disappointed at first that menu had little detail about the dishes however The waiter did such a great job explaining the menu and recommending dishes. The food did not disappoint at all and service was fast. The croquetas are a must try as well as he pil pil shrimps. Great experience from the staff.
One of the best restaurants in Montréal. Been there 5 times now and loved it each and every time. The croquetas and cauliflower dishes are to dies for!
Things started off to a good start. The owner greeted us and lead us to a lovely table. I informed him that we are celebrating my husbands and were vacationing from out of town. He made a bunch of suggestions which we appreciated. Unfortunately, it took FOREVER for the server to come get our drink order. We ordered 6 dishes and not a single soul checked in on us until 4 of them was completely eaten. We were in need of more water and wine but couldnt get anyone to look in our direction to signal to come to the table. Finally, the owner pops in to ask how everything is. I would be less annoyed if it were busy, but theres 3 other tables in here. The 4 stars is for the food. We ordered scotch eggs, poutine, beet salad, ham croquettes, cauliflower, and calamari, everything was tasty except for the cauliflower. It was soggy and needed salt and pepper.Edited: I learned something new tonight. If you are an avid reviewer/local guide wait until you leave the restaurant before writing your review! I had some time to kill while waiting for the dessert menu so I thought Id write a quick review. I was mortified when the owner came out and asked me percisely why I thought the service wasnt good!I was so embarrassed, not for myself, because I welcome the opportunity to discuss my dining experience, but rather, for my husband and other family members who had to see this obviously uncomfortable conversation between the owner and I. I would have preferred he respond to my review or if he felt compelled to talk to me in person, pull me off to the side.Having said all that, I wish I had waited until after dessert to write my review because I was impressed with how well it was handled. A delicious bowl of the most perfectly executed churros drizzled with nutella and some pretty decadent (and yummycookies were offered compliments of the chef while we sang Happy Birthday to hubby. It helped ease the tension after the awkward confrontation.Restaurants rarely get to hear the subtle (and not so subtlethings that influence the dining experience and patrons rarely get to hear how the reviews they write affect the restaurant owners, managers and waitstaff. This was definitely an eye-opening experience for me.
We decided to try out this place and we do not regret it at all. This cozy hidden gem has very courteous staff even the attentive owner came over to our table to suggest some food & wine choices. The food was tasty and the portions perfect. We stayed a little later than their closing time but we never felt rushed, we recommend Sorocco to anyone looking for light tasty tapas in a warm environment with impeccable service.
Im a pro google reviewer and never got excited so much to review a restaurant! . I can only say 5 stars is not enough for here . They give you quality food. Im so happy found this place. Will come here again more and more.Their local beer is excellent. Fries are the best in town . Perfection in everything! The owner should be a proud man!
If you are looking for a great flavour experience, with friendly service and excellent value, dont miss this place. Cozy and unpretentious, the food is simply fabulous and bursting with flavour without being overpowering. My personal favorites were the Croquetas Serrano (to die forand the Tomato with blue cheese, but really everything that our group of 4 chose was delicious. The owner is present, welcoming and available for questions, and the prices are very reasonable. We will be back!
Top notch food with great service to match it . The highlights for us were the prawns pil pil as they were very well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The Cauliflower with truffle oil is well worth trying also. We enjoyed every single one of our dishes. The owner talked us through the menu and was very welcoming. A pleasant surprise when the bill came at how reasonable the meal was! We will be returning soon to give the lobster croquettes a try.
friendly and passionate restaurant owner!
Honestly one of the best restaurants Ive been to in Quebec and beyond! The food was perfectly balanced with every mouthful teaming with an abundance of flavour! Top picks: the beet salad and croquetas were most memorable followed closely by the scallops, meatballs and cauliflower. The service was incredible and the owner proudly and confidently serves guests alongside his staff making it an incredibly inviting spot to dine. Absolutely recommend trying this place out - for 9 Small plates and 2 pitchers of beer shared among 3 people it was perfectly affordable coming in at under $150 CAD.
Absolutely fabulous experience we had dining at this resto. We brought friends who were visiting from out of town and it was our first time going ourselves (my coworker recommended the place). Upon walking in the ambiance was lovely and the staff were very welcoming. We ordered a bunch of different things and almost every dish was a hit! My favorite was the ham and cheese croquettes and the beet and arugula salad. Our server was so accomodating and made some great reccommendations. When he noticed there was one dish we hardly touched, he kindly asked what it was we didnt like about it and removed it from our bill. Its these kinds of gestures that really impress me and are rarely seen nowadays. I will definitely be going back!
Great service, food was delicious and when there was an issue with the order, staff was incredibly accommodating and removed the item from our bill. When the bill came it was significantly lower than I expected from such a nice place. Definitely recommend
Divine experience. If I could give 6 stars I would. Great food, wonderful host and very fair prices. The atmosphere is so cozy, the tapas taste fantastic and the flavors always surprise me. Keep up the good work, you deserve it.
Small, romantic restaurant with high-quality dishes and generous portion sizes. Reservations recommended. Caution: website menu has not been updated and does not reflect current menu.
Sorocco was by far the best restaurant we tried in Montreal. The staff and owner provided excellent service and the food was delicious. Its a great way to try multiple items in smaller quantities. I would also HIGHLY recommend the lobster croquettes! Fantastic restaurant.
I cannot believe it took me so long to discover this place! I went last night with a group of friends and we tried all the tapas on the menu... not only were the portions generous... but the dishes were amazing! I will definitely visit again!
Soo good. Its rare that we love everything that we order, but whoever is the chef here has a very refined palate. Everything was seasoned perfectly. The cauliflower was to die for, as well as the scotch eggs. Impeccable and very personable service. Well be back, thats for sure.
Highly recommend! The manager, Ben, pays great attention to detail and has a real passion for the menu and restaurant as a whole. I tried a selection of items on the menu and was thoroughly pleased! The food was of great quality and reasonably priced. I will definitely return when I am in Montreal again.
Wow. Amazing tapas and best prices. The scallops on pea and mint purée were phenomenal. Also the best churros weve had. The owner has a good recommendation of what to try so we took a lot of those and loved it all. Great cozy atmosphere and nice wines. Great for a date night!
Great tapas place. I went early on a Saturday and the service was impeccable. The host also warned us that 4 dishes was a good place to start for two, and that was the perfect amount. If not for the warning we would have over ordered. We had the left a sliders, the beet and goat cheese salad, the fried cauliflower, and the Scottish eggs. We really enjoyed everything. Also the bill was very reasonable. With tax and two cocktails the bill was 55 dollars.
The tapas were delicious! We had a large group, so the maitre d explained the various options for us to proceed with for a wonderful experience, and so glad we listened. He made sure we got enough food, but not too much, kept the wines and water filled throughout dinner, even surprised us with dessert! It was overall a very lovely dinner, you can tell he cared for his customers as well as the food he was serving, highly recommend!
Sorocco is the place to be in Montreal. Being 1/2 of a young couple, we enjoyed the overall atmosphere, service, and price of the entire restaurant. The dim lighting, decorations, and entire ambiance felt very intimate--and created an illusion of expense. To our surprise, the food was very reasonably priced and affordable, everything felt as if it were a bargain. The service was impeccable! A willing and kind host created a comfortable atmosphere and the server (who was the managerdelivered exceptional service. The food, to top everything off, was absolutely delightful. Server had an incredible recommendation to go light on the tapas due to the heavy portion size, and go for three tapas and a salad to share for two. It was absolutely perfect. The calamari, to begin, was beautifully seasoned and breaded. It contained a sweet yet savory sauce. The highlight of the tapas was the cauliflower with truffle oil. The lightness contrasted exceptionally well with the heavy taste of other tapas.Being tourists and finding this place on a whim was quite the fantasy. Highly recommend!P.S: (Photos dont really do it justice due to the dim lighting.)
Friendly server (chef ownerwas patient and explained the menu expertly. The food was delicious and timely. I had a sirloin steak that was cooked perfectly. My wife who is gluten free and vegan found plenty to eat as well. If you are in Montreal, do yourself a solid and visit this fine restaurant.
Location is pleasant, isnt affected by nearby (perpetualconstruction. Food is decent, prices are fair. Drinks are very good, would recommend the Lychee Soho/Vodka one. Place is rather new, the owners are very friendly. Would definitely come back here.
