Song Phi Nong Thai Restaurant and Bar in Bayou Cane

My first time and I ordered the red curry. The waiter said it was like an etoufee so I tried it. I’ve eaten quite a bit of curry in other countries but I didn’t know Thai curry is different from Indian curry which I did not know until I got the bill and the waiter told me so. He asked me how was everything and I said not good at all. It was a soup and very sweet. No other taste and they brought some kind of spice to sprinkle on it. I was expecting a pepper sauce. Maybe this is an example of Thai food but I will never go back.

We visited for dinner around 6pm, on Friday.EnvironmentBusy but spacious enough so that you cant hear other peoples table conversation. The restrooms were fairly clean.ServiceThere were empty tables but not enough servers for all the tables, so it took a little over 30mins to get seated. Once seated we were serviced fairly quickly. Our wait for food didnt seem long.FoodEverything was good. Family ate all of their plate. I ordered the ginger sauce with chicken and it was a bit too sweet for me to eat it all. I also ordered the thai tea which i loved.PriceThe kids plate was $10 (chicken fried ricebut was the same dish size as adult (see pic). Our adult plates were $13 (ginger sauce w/chicken and yellow curry w/chicken). Meals were not more expensive than other restaurants, nowadays.Other than wait time to get a table, we had a good experience and would be willing to come back. They are hiring so hopefully wait times get shorter.

Place is great they just need workers and nicer workers. I know thats hard to find right now. But once u finally sit down, the food wont take long.

We drive from out of town to eat here. No matter what you get, it will be incredible! Staff is attentive and pleasant.

The worst Thai food I have ever eaten. Tom Kar Gai (coconut chicken souptasted like straight fish sauce. Chicken noodle soup tasted like water. Fried rice was bland. Pad Thai was okay. Only good thing I bought was the crab puffs. Waste of $70.

We LOVE Song Phi Nong. Always delicious food. The only complaint I have is that they close entirely too early. I think 9:00pm would be a much more reasonable time.

Pad Thai was great. Drunken Noodles were very good. Pot stickers and crab puffs excellent.

Great place. Been wanting to go for a while. Gf and I loved it.

New place. Still have a lot to do to get atmosphere. Food was great. Had yellow curry. Simple things like had wine but no written list, Had to ask for utensils. Also had to ask for water several times. Waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable about items on menu. Very spacious. Spoke to owner about future improvements they will be making. I sure in time they will be perfect.

Best Thai food I’ve ever had, great place, very clean

This was my first Thai food experience and it was amazing!

Ordered yum woon sen and what I got barely qualified. No peanuts, no garlic, no tomato, no onion, no spice. Basically just diced chicken, a few shrimps, lime-juice, noddles, and iceberg lettuce, the cheapest, blandest vegetable possible. Speaking as someone who routinely makes yum woon sen at home, this was terribly disappointing. The only reason it wasnt one star is the noddles were cooked perfectly.

Delicious and large portion. If you cant eat spicy dont order level 3 or above. Will come back each time I visit Houma.I had the F-3, clear noodles with assorted veggies.

Song Phi Nong can sure make some fancy rice, but we started with Spring Rolls, which were light and delicious dipped in the sauce with which they are served. Back to the rice. The Massaman Curry with cashews treats the white rice like hot fudge does to a Sundae. Highly recommended. The Combination Fried Rice was equally delicious, but I found it a little skimpy on the shrimp, chicken, and beef. The atmosphere is cold and the temperature was cold, as well. Seems like they have a few things to work out regarding decor and giving it a warmer feel. We shall return.

This is hands down the best Thai food place I’ve ever eaten at. The pad Thai noodles are so good, and they are amazing about allowing you to customize it how you want. My only “complaint” is the new location was kind of cold. But I’ll gladly bring a jacket for the food!

I love this place! The food was quick and delicious and the spice levels are pretty good. We got the fried rice with chicken- very generous portion, spring rolls- crispy and delightful, pad see ew- YUM! Usually I get a level 3 for spice which is just a bit of a kick, but I was feeling a bit brave and I went up to 4 and it was nice and hot and it made my lips tingle. Definitely will be adding this to a weekly rotation!

This place is as good or better as any Thai place that we have in New Orleans. Love the red curry dishes and the ability to order to the exact level of spice wanted. Fantastic craft beer selection.

The food was great. Their heater isnt working so it was very cold inside. They serve your food in to go plates. They did just recently open up in their new location.

I’ve never in my life witnessed so many people get up and leave a restaurant without being served.I understand the staffing shortage but it’s a shame the few warm bodies don’t even have the etiquette and common sense to greet customers.

I was going to give it one star, but the service was decent. My husband had the chicken curry and became sick afterwards. We are from New York and I guess we have been spoiled with actual authentic Thai dishes. We actually spoke to the woman claiming to be the owner and she basically ignored our complaint. She is Asian and it looks like she eats well, so I am guessing she goes to the other Thai restaurant. The price and food quality were below par. I was very disappointed ☹️.

Great place! For starters, I am a Thai food connoisseur, married to a Thai chef, have been to Thailand 7 times, and have been to countless Thai restaurants in the U.S. The friendly owner, Mrs. Yupha... she is the real deal and dishes out authentic dishes and cuts no corners. Very impressive Thai restaurants for a small city. My waiter, DeQuincy, was very friendly and attentive. Im not in Houma often... went to the first Song Phi Nong location years back, and was not disappointed in their new location after I looked it up. Will be back ... its a must if in Houma.

Used to be good4-7-20: So its been three years since my first reviewI drove out to location because their social media page stated they where open, however upon arriving was told they are open but not taking orders because to many called ahead.Two weeks ago I was told that I couldnt have as much spice as I would if I dined in when I do takeout. However during a quarantine this option was not available to me. I didnt want to update my five star review because of a single incident.12-31-20: Things have improved since my last review. Hoping things stay the course.7-21-21: Pepper mix appears to be less spicy than it used to be. Staff (a particular individualattitude appears to have improved.7-24-21: I do not believe I will be going back. Unfortunately Ive found when I go to the restaurant and order either takeout (in store or from my numberor I dine in Im given food that taste different then when I have family or friends order and pickup. Now I do have certain issues later on.

Worst Thai food I have ever eaten. I think the 4.7 rating proves that people of Houma don’t know any better, bless their hearts.Worst spring rolls I have ever eaten and the peanut sauce is watered down. Wonton soup very bland even though I ordered a level 4. Sweet and Sour Stir Fry was watery because ‘’ I ordered extra sauce.’’ So when you ask for extra ketchup at lets say Mcdonalds do they open the packets and add water to the ketchup and put it in a cup for you or do they give you more of the original content? Well Song Phi Nong employees really struggle with that concept hence the picture below. Quite shocked at how busy this place is but hey continue to get ripped off Im going for better next time. More specifically Thai Zaap Cafe’ in Metarie. I recommend the Pork Green Curry at Zaap, also the Lemongrass soup; drink: Lemonade! best you ever had. F*** Song Phi Nong

Best Thai food between here and Maui! Nothing else in Louisiana comes close.Plus the best, choicest beer selection within a sixty mile radius.This is a place of kings.

The food was good. I had the ginger shrimp. I had to send back my Thai coffee Im not sure what they use to make it but it was the worst Ive ever tried. They could use a lunch menu. Prices are ok for dinner. Too much for a quick lunch.

A friend of ours brought us for dinner and have been hooked since then.The family and I are from orlando and I can tell you this place is better than allot of places in the O-town. We travel to Louisiana quite often to visit my in-laws and we always make sure we have dinner here. Been coming here for years. I come all the way from o town for their pad thai and some great craft beer. Great price great food! Its a must try!

One of houmas best kept secrets. VERY casual dining, with no table cloths keep the rich and famous at bay. Superb, but eclectic beer choices, should stick to their forte,. THAI food and THAI beverages. My # 1 choice for awesome food!

When we read the name.. we thought some ugly chinese restaurant with the same old lo mein and fried rice on the Menu... On reaching the place the restaurant was quiet, calm ambience, drinks section on one side, food section on the other.. nicely distanced table.. good decent crowd... The server was polite and friendly... The menu had lot of Thai cuisines on it.. we ordered chkn pad thai & red curry with white rice.. we asked the server for the qunatity as we are heavy eaters and big foodies.. he was polite to offer extra jamine rice complimentory.... then finally after a shortwhile the food arrived.... &&&&&... It looked so AWESOME!!!! it smelled AWESOME!!! The Aroma was so good..The quantity.... The presentation in the curvy big bowl... full of pad thai noodles and the other loaded with lot of veggies, chkn and so much of curry was mind blowing... That is called the AUTHENTIC THAI FOOD!!!! The Taste was DELICIOUS... The Taste buds were truly satisfied... HIGLY RECOMMENDED... worth every penny... Value for money... Great taste.. Great Quantity...Hope they continue the good food.. good taste..👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👌👌👌

This restaurant is soooo much better than Siam House. Today was my first time ordering from them and it was delicious, we ordered the yellow curry (level 3, just the right amount of spicyand fresh rolls with peanut sour sauce. The ladies at the front were very nice. We will be ordering again from them.

This place has a phenomenal beer selection! Im loving all the imperial stouts on tap and bottles. Its not often that you can find craft beers at Thai restaurants. Food is good as well

The Green Curry dish is my favorite. All of the flavors are on point and the eggplant is always cooked just right. I also enjoy their Pad Thai. I feel it’s a unique recipe unlike others I’ve had elsewhere. The owner is super friendly and they offer a wide selection of craft beer which is a big plus!

I love the food there. I’m a big fan of Thai curry, so that’s my go-to. My wife loves the pad thai noodles. The staff there is friendly and always willing to describe the different dishes. Also, the beer selection there is top notch.

I had the dumplings,,fresh roll and shrimp drunken noodles... I was disappointed at the dumplings.. the portion was tiny ,,the dipping sauce lacked garlic or ginger flavoring and tasted like salted soy sauce...The fresh roll and accompanying sauce was very tasty...The dunken noodles were outstanding !! I had level 3 heat,, just enough pepper for me ..Aside from.the dumplings this was probably the best Asian food Ive eaten in Houma !!!

There are two Thai restaurants in Houma, and now I can honestly say that this is the inferior one. I usually frequent Siam House, but today I decided to give this place a try after reading all the good reviews. I was extremely disappointed. I can only assume that the reason people find it so good is because they haven’t tried the only other Thai restaurant in town. I ordered the same exact thing I usually order so that I could have a fair comparison, and the dish was lacking in both spice and flavor. I highly suggest you leave this place alone and head over to the East side to try out Siam House instead. It’s a small place and is usually quite busy for lunch, so I suggest you go for supper for your first time.

Nice food. Portions are large. 3 for spicy is already realy hot. But enjoyed it. 300 types of beer available. Half of the place is restaurant, other half is bar. Well worth a visit.

Tonight I had the Masaman Curry. As ALWAYS here, it was GREAT! Their curry dishes must be a gift from Nang Kwak! I regularly come here when Im in Houma and you should too, if you like Thai food. The servers are always nice and make sure you are satisfied. My favorite dish is the Panang Curry, and I love the Ginger Sauce dish as well. Their heat ranges from 1-5, and 5 is still not quite Thai hot. If thats how you want it though, as I do, just ask for it to be Thai hot.

Food was excellent. It was prepared in a timely fashion, was hot, but not overdone,and even though it was a lot of food I didnt feel stuffed. The spring rolls were really good and the dipping sauce was so tasty!We also had the crab puffs with an out of this world sauce to dip them in, so good!!!I cant wait to go back again next time I visit Houma.The staff was very friendly and accommodating!

Friendly staff, but the owner could not care less about her customers. I ordered a meal that I normally get from there and it was INCREDIBLY sweet and had no spice what so ever. (I ordered the highest spice). I asked for a replacement was refused. Ive run several restaurants and when I customer does not like something, you replace it, especially when its completely inedible. The staff was exceptionally friendly and tried to help, but the owner is a greedy and couldnt care less of the people that give her business. Please learn how to take care of your customers if you want to stay in business. Let your staff teach you.

Delicious and Consistent. Always pleased and will not come to town without getting my share of deliciousness!!Mixed Vegetables with chicken, Pad Thai with chicken, and the best Yellow Curry with Shrimp in the world!I want Song Phi Nong to move to Texas with me.
