Strange place. Beautifully building with nothing in it. Is being used for art projects but nothing on display except a weird boat sculpture.Worthwhile stepping inside for a quick 15 minute visit.

Visited for a corporate event. Really impressive building akin to Buckingham Palace from the exterior. Buffet lunch provided at the facility was also top class. There are coffee shops and at least one bar and restaurant which I saw when there. Didnt visit any of the art on this trip.

A carefully curated range of events and exhibitions at somerset house. The courtyard makes for a great photo op location as well as several seasonal events particularly during winter and summer. There are some fantastic paid exhibitions which are well worth the money that you should check out. Past exhibitions included snoopy, beano etc. Alongside paid exhibitions, they also host free exhibitions inside the building and outside in the courtyard. There is a nice cafe inside and plenty of toilets with refillable water fountain.

Absolutely stunning architecture. Waited by the fountains for my daughter who had a job interview. Got a coffee but so expensive, £3.15!! 😱 . London prices I guess.

One of this places you cant miss in London. It is so close to other activities in the cities, and always have some kind of exhibition in it. Just have brunch in one of the places in it and then enjoy walking the place and by the river

A must see venue to check in advance before going to London. We saw the Edvard Munch exhibition -early years- being well curated. The 3rd floor has an extended wide of modern paintings and it’s a delightful exhibitions. The gift shop has a great range of interesting products including a coffee shop.We went afterwards to the restaurant Spring -which is inside the building- and was a great success.

I saw Angus & Julia Stone here, Ghetts, been to various events, fashion shows, and art exhibitions. Everything that I have been to has been well executed, clean, well behaved, and overall great experience. This is one of the best venues especially for their summer series. 🙏🏻💜

Bomba estereo 10/07/22:A very cool venue but we couldn’t hear anything even 30m from the scene, the crowd pointed to the sound team multiple times, yet no adjustments were made and we couldn’t hear neither the singer nor the choir. I recommend you go see your favorite artist somewhere they have a competent sound engineering team rather than there because it was really a waste.

Somerset House is London’s working arts centre built on historic foundations around one of the most beautiful courtyards in Europe.Situated at the very heart of the capital, it is home to the UK’s largest and most exciting creative community and is overflowing with new ideas, young businesses and fresh perspectives.Dedicated to backing progress, championing openness, nurturing creativity and empowering ideas, their cultural programme is highly ambitious. Insisting on relevance, but not afraid of irreverence, they are as keen on entertainment as enrichment. Embracing the biggest issues of our times (recent exhibitions and installation have addressed climate change and the work of Black creative pioneers), Somerset House are committed to the delicate task of oxygenating new works by emerging artists.

Ive visited Somerset House today. I was looking forward to see free art exhibitions that I always used to visit over the last 9 years. Unfortunately there is no more FREE ART availabe anymore. Every wing gallery was empty, instead there have been additional cafés and restaurants. The only free exhibition left was in the New Wing. But no one from the newly refubrished Caurtlaud Gallery staff nor the staff from the East Wing was able to point me in the right direction. So I just left very dissapointed :(

all previous years was lots to see, loads of free arts and events. Compared it to my today visit, there is absolutely nothing to see in here, staff who works here dont know anything, empty rooms and few cafes. Thats a shame that previously best art hub in London became a sad shadow of its former glory.

What a wonderful historical place. Have a really nice coffee ins8de the front garden but also you can bring your food or drink and even have a small picnic there. In the backyard have a perfect terrace Riverside of Thames. Dont forget to wear fancy outfit if you go there in the evening especially weekend evenings. Inside the building you can see different rooms and exhibitions there. Only one thing upset me that was seeing the rubbish between the walking place and garden door floor. Please dont throw your rubbish there guys.

Bought tickets to see Henri Cartier Bressons work. London House and Somerset House appear to not get along with each other. Found out after an hour and a half of searching, that his work is NOT on display when it clearly states that on the website. This is obviously and money making racket, with alot of he said she said rubbish. Nobody wants to take responsibility for basically scamming members of the public. These establishments have an absolute disregard for the little people. We have been offered no refund only yet another day of viewing really bad modern photography.

Good place where events are held. The courtyard hosts events, and various installations are put up. The structure boasts of rich architectural heritage and as such a point for many events and even movie filmings. It houses various cafes and restuarants too, with a river side view, including the Masterchef Dipna Anands Restuarant.

Went to the cafe here twice recently, very long queue both times (mid afternoondespite loads of staff. Insufficient number of chairs and/or tables for customers on both occasions despite masses of space for more. Had to stand up with my drink! Expensive but good quality coffee and hot chocolate albeit very small cups! Nice staff.

We went to see Beano exhibition. It was well curated with Beano inspired art work.Different characters were introduced how they came about in each section. As it was first published in 1938, there were lots of WW2 themes and the characters were used for propaganda. Also, corporal punishment was a common practice until it was banned in 1986. The teachers always had a slipper on their desks, which I found it very funny.I didn’t grow up in the UK, but it must have been a common practice in all over the world back then. The comic is so satisfying as these kids keep on breaking the rules and the consequences make me laugh. This exhibition made me want I read more.My children love reading them and I now understand why.Somerset house offer very nice exhibitions for families. They had a badge making and placate making session. My daughter choose to pick the words to spread peace, love and humanity.

Had the most amazing ice skating experience in London. Not too expensive, beautiful lights and music just enhances the experience. The Moet & Chandon lounge adjoining the ice rink is a great place to chill and sip some Henessey hot chocolate while you wait for your turn. Definitely recommend it, but please prebook. We ended up waiting for 3 hours.

Somerset House always has great exhibitions on with lots of them available for free. I visited recently for the Skateboarding exhibition and it was fantastic! There are often exhibitions about subcultures like grime music and more. There are clear efforts made to be more representative and also show off artists from a range of backgrounds, which is great to see.

We were there for WatchHouse Coffee and found Somerset House Trust to be an amazingly magnificent place to visit. We came twice, first time in the morning for breakfast & coffee and second time to see the beautiful & romantic lighting at night. It would be an ice skate park during the holiday season with Christmas decorations & lovely ambiance. We would definitely plan to visit London in December in the near future and skate here with family and friends.

One of my favorite buildings in London. Been a few times to see a number of exhibitions. Always fascinated each time I visit. Latest visit was to see the 1-54 art fair. It was beautiful experience to see amazing modern African art and artists from across the continent. I was honored. Some great quality stuff. I was very cultured.Sadly COVID has affected many parts of culture and the arts across London city and Somerset House felt really quiet and strange but nevertheless remains one of my favorite places in London.

Somerset House is a palace working today days as an arts centre built on historic foundations with a beautiful courtyard and terrace. On it lived the Princess Elizabeth I before being crowned Queen. The todays. Art centre offers many cultural activities that are usually for free or under contribution.

Somerset House showcases a diverse range of international art exhibitions and associated event programmes featuring curators talks, film screenings, conferences and symposia. My most recent visit was to view the group exhibition "Get Up, Stand Up Now" (12 June-15 Sept. 2019), curated by Zak Ové, featuring works by more than 100 artists of African, Caribbean and diasporic heritage who have made significant contributions to the cultural landscape of Britain over the past five decades. The historic architectural design of the building, constructed around a central fountained courtyard creates a beautiful setting for displaying classical, modern and contemporary works of fine art.

I just love attending events at Somerset House, however this year decided to take the little ones to the ice skating rink they prepared. As one of the children is a wheelchair user, this was one of the first places that I’ve personally seen which offers the facility for those in a wheelchair to gain access on the ice.The gentleman Mike who took our little lady around the ice was a true professional and all round decent guy.In fact all the staff were pretty amazing to tell you the truth.Venue was magical with treats provided by Fortnum & Mason .. mulled wine, cheese boards and all that jazz. Probably wouldn’t do it every year, but I certainly wouldn’t rule out going back there again.Only thing is be sure to leave out early if going on Boxing Day .. as there were no train services and the buses were running on a Sunday service.

This used to be a 5 star venue, but as prices keep creeping up and service continues to deteriorate, I had to review my reviewFirst time in my life that my small non professional camera gets rejected, even though they let others in. Unclear and unfair policy. Cameras 8 times the size of mine were admitted. Supposedly a "security risk" even though backpacks and handbags are allowed. Most of my old review still holds:Great venue, certainly for the annual Somerset Series of live concerts. The music is way too loud, so bring earplugs if you dont want to ruin your hearing. Sound quality is excellent though and entry as well as exit queues are short (those for getting drinks inside unfortunately are not).

Somerset House is set on The Strand in London. The collection of buildings are positioned around a large courtyard often used for events such as outdoor screenings and concerts. The beautiful buildings are mainly offices and can be used for conferences and events but there are a couple of cafés also housed within.Definitely worth a stroll through, the architecture is incredible.

A superb venue with good facilities and exhibitions. Accessible from both the Thames Riverside and Strand it has a large square on the north side used for ice skating in the winter. The Riverside bar situated on the terrace has great views over the Thames and inside there is a Caffè, Bar and Restaurant. There is disabled access via lifts and WCs.Currently a brilliant exhibition of photos in the East and West Wings, so worth seeing. The "Sony World Photography Awards". Some of these photos are quite astonishing and as good as any art museum. I particularly loved those taken by Nadav Kander, with the juxtaposition of man in industrial environment. Well worth checking out, £10 admission fee, £8 concession.

They let in probably 200 people each time, in this tiny ice rink that it was so crowded that I couldn’t properly skate. The ice was melting, making it extremely watery and slippery. If the weather is too warm for you to keep a decent ice rink, just don’t open it! Instead, you open the place, charging 18£ each, and let in 200 people at a time. It was the worst skating experience I’ve ever had.

Come here often for the coffee shop, restaurants, and the exhibitions. Have been ice skating and to gigs too. It’s a really well run, beautiful space. The square is like an enclave away from the hustle and bustle of aldwych. Photography exhibition was brilliant. The bars in the summer are great too.
