Sohar Fort - Castle in Suhar, Oman
Its ok
Would like if you want to see old construction. Nicely maintained.
the problem was that the fort surrounding wasnt clean , trashes everywhere.
💫⭐️🌟
The best place to spend your evenings in Sohar beach
Wonderful landmark in Sohar. It is one of the must not miss to visit in Sohar.
Nice places
This was sohar fort uae to be an historical place is 700 year old. oman gov. Has restored it and yet museum is under development. It was e trwmwly pleasant
The fort itself is open, but the museum is closed. The museum apparently is situated in the main tower, so the main tower is closed. Apart from that, there is pretty much nothing to see. If you have seen any other fort in Oman, Sohar Fort will be a big disappointment in its current state.
Sohar fortBuilt in the 13th century, Sohar’s distinctive square-towered fort allegedly boasts a 10km tunnel intended as an escape route during a siege. Easier to find is the small museum in the fort’s tower, which outlines local history, and the tomb of Sayyid Thuwaini Bin Sultan Al Busaid, ruler of Oman from 1856 to 1866.
Very peaceful place
The fort is not that big but and it was closed when l planned to visit it on a day off. It attracts you through its position in front of the beach. It was an exciting moment for kids. It should be lighten in the evenings to give a dramatic look.
Its not completely opened, only walls and towers with nothing insid or any info or instructions. not ready, the main building is closed also. they are not yet ready to open. better to wait.
The fort looks impressive but because it is closed to the public so I cant visit it give a proper review
Good place to have insight about Oman tradition. Nearby beaches has added an additional place to visit frequently.

Very good, calm and serene place specially for walking
Mind blowing view of Suhar,Visit Sohar fort if you wanna spend some good time with your loved ones near by the beach
I have been living near the fort for 3 years now but never seen the door open to enter inside. It looks beautiful from outside especially at night.
Unfortunately it was closed because of the so called Covid-19 pandemic so we only saw it from the outside. The surroundings of the fort are wonderful.
one day I entered the place (although it was under maintenance,it was grate ,firsti took round on the fort territory then I climb up the walls and i entered the main tower and i went up till the top floor, it was incredible .From the top you can see the corniche and the beach ⛱, and from the other side you can see Sohar mosque (the Fort Mosque ),and from there also you can see part of Sohar .later I went out side and i walk around it. in general it was very satisfying experience...
Must seen
I couldnt enter the place but it looks quite interesting from outside.good way to touch Oman history

Beautiful Palace but its closed, you cant visit inside
One of the most important fort in Oman which was built in the 17th century, and played a major roll in the defensive wars against invaders
Beautiful place to vist and have fun with kids and family near the beach
Pathetic experience it is under construction 4m past 5 years not allowed in side. Some how managed by request inside ! Nothing empty rooms it is under renovation since last 5 years Never go time waste
So amazing, historical place.
Unfortunately still not open but looks like it would be really worth a stop if it were, such a pity but looking forward to a visit when it is finally open again.
It seems to be permanently closed but is a nice building to walk around surrounded by some trees and with views of the beach. Should be utilised more.
Though it is not allowed to enter inside, you can enjoy the the surrounding. A very good place to spend some leisure time.
I was disappointed as it was closed for renovation and I didn’t get inside the castle.
Do not miss this magnificent fort, which is truly stunning, during your visits to Sohar. The Sohar Corniche is just splendid and so are the Walis office and old souq.
Good place to see How Oman kings lived. Well preserved.
Fortresses are one of the most important monuments in Oman. There are bastions in Oman. The fort has been fortified with the preservation of ancient remains. This fort is located on the way to Sohar beach. There are beautiful and beautiful gardens in it. The banyan tree that stands nearby is beautiful.I do not know what is the timing on here. This is also a good place to travel with Sohar beach.
An historical place built by Ahmed Bin Said who was the Sultan "King" of Oman
Quaint, traditional fort, looks majestic overlooking corniche. However, its been undergoing renovation for such a long time. Similar is the case with many of Omans other beautiful forts.
Not sure if its still closed for renovations or it was just closed on Fridays? Definitely looked like its still under construction. Nice walk outside the fort.
Update 16/02/2017 : fort closed for work. Will be great when reopened.
