Good food but definitely plan for somewhere after, felt a little bit rushed/they want you to go so I wouldnt say its a luxury experience for the price. But good food and drink.

My husband brought me here for my 40th birthday. The service was incredible. The steak was so good, chips divine, pork with parmesan was nice but different and the aubergine was ok but our least favourite. Wine recommendations were spot on. I even received a birthday card and some dessert with a candle - lovely touch.

I had lunch at the restaurant yesterday with two friends who hadnt been before. We had an excellent meal. The fixed price menu and carafe of wine were very good value.I have been to Social Eating House a number of times. I have always thoroughly enjoyed it and will be coming again before too long Im sure.

Trust the servers suggestions. Impeccable service and faultless food. Comfortable atmosphere and enough chatter and music to have private conversations not overheard between neighbouring tables 👍🏼 reservation is recommended and the loos are acceptable

Food was tasty. Decent Manhattan and good wine recommendation. Service needs to improve.Sat solo at the bar. Had to wait for someone to notice me. No one offered water. The food was delayed. The main was served before the starter. I asked where is my starter and the lady said “it’s coming” 🙌 Obv had to send the main back. Staff seemed on edge and arguing with each other.Probably won’t visit again.

Wonderful food and very attentive service. My boyfriend and I split the dry aged steak; he said it’s the best steak he’s ever eaten that he didn’t cook himself (a high compliment!). The charcuterie was incredible, as was dessert. The restaurant was busy, and we didn’t seem to have a dedicated server, but several people checked on us regularly so we were well taken care of. This restaurant is very much worth a visit!

We came to The Social Eating House for the Chefs Counter Experience and had a wonderful time. We received so much attention and insight into the kitchen and all the details of our food - it was such an amazing experience, we would recommend it very highly

The food was really good, but not good enough to keep us waiting 30 mins between each course… literally sitting in the restaurant now and got bored so I’m writing the review…Music was a bit loud not good if you are hearing impairedWaiters were friendly and attentiveExcellent selection of fine winesDesserts and wine paring to die for.

We had the tasting menu at the chefs counter. The food was absolutely incredible and delicious. The atmosphere with the music and watching the chefs go about their work was amazing. We also had the wine pairing, which added another level to the meal. The service was perfect and the sommelier was very knowledgeable and happy to spend time talking with us. Would love to return again.

Follow my food account on instagram @best_restaurantsldnWant a Michelin star chef to cook your dinner? We gave this place some high ratings. It’s definitely a pricey place to eat, but is it worth it? I say yes!We ordered: Roasted Cumbrian Herdwick lamb rump 🐑, coco beans, aubergine, tamarind, sheepmilk ricotta, lamb fat. This isn’t somewhere I would eat regularly. I would go here to celebrate (e.g. getting a promotion🥳. The service was amazing; the waiter even poured our sauce for us. It was very dark inside - initially we walked straight past it because it looked closed from the outside. Although it was a very small portion size, it did have a high quality taste (but we weren’t full at the end of our meal).Ratings out of 10:- Taste: 8 😋- Service: 8- Price: 9 ££££- Presentation: 9

Our second time at social eating house enjoying the chef‘s counter experience. We had a fabulous time and were lucky enough to have the lower ground kitchen area all to ourselves. All dishes were delicious and staff super professional, welcoming and everything on point! We will be back

Simply awful. Underwhelming, over-priced and over-salted food. Slow, rude and argumentative waiting staff. Steak took more than an hour to come out and was cold! Worst of all though were the filthiest restaurant toilets I’ve ever seen. Also the music was too loud to talk comfortably. Half empty on a Saturday night unsurprisingly.

We booked for a 50th get together. Started in the bar upstairs, lovely decor and attentive bar service with well priced drinks. Sadly this did not follow through to the dining room.Service was lacking and mediocre at best, table was nice but got hot as the spot lights were pretty intense! The wine order took about 20 minutes to arrive and had to explain which wine first. Food order was taken and sadly they forgot one of the main courses!! It later arrived undercooked! Not what you would expect from a restaurant of this calibre. Food was fine and beautifully presented and delicious, sadly the service let it down hugely!

Great scallop starter. But unwhelming mains, the halibut was overcooked, and while the venison was cooked perfecty the lasagne didnt add to the dish at all. Ive had much better meals in london , and it was a shame that my favorite bread and wine was closed. I mentioned to the waiter my feelings on the mains but no comment was made. I would have let that slide but from the moment we walked in we felt like we were looked down on even though the restaurant was quiet they had to check if tables were available. We also were asked to provide our name and number as if a possible no pay risk even, and after paying the bill and service charge ready to leave no one brought our coats back , having to walk of shame across the restaurant to obtain them. Much better food for the price to be had where you do actually feel welcome.

Great lunch experience, and loved the items on the prix fixe menu. Its a steal for £45 for 3 (DELICIOUScourses. Service was also on par. Would 100% visit again. Has the tartare as a starter, pasta as a main, and 70% Chocolate Delice as dessert. Only managed to get a photo of the dessert it was all that good! One suggestion for the restaurant would be to label on the menu which items can be made GF, vegetarian or vegan, just to alleviate a guests concerns for dietary restrictions

Just had a lovely lunch here. Cosy welcoming feel, peaceful away from the hustle and bustle of Xmas shopping, and not too noisy even when it got a lot busier later on.Seasonal menu looked enticing but a little too large for us at 3 courses for lunch. If I remember it was about £54 with a cocktail but dont quote me on that.We opted for a hake dish and venison dish with a side order of triple cooked chips.Absolutely delicious, the vension shoulder trimmings came as a lasagne on the side, with the fillet on the main plate.Friendly attentive service and nice to have a change of vibe compared to Pollen Street social (Another favourite).

Food sublime - service somewhat lacking. We went for the festive lunch menu. Had one each of the starters , both delicious , but placed infront of the wrong customer, before we could say anything he had dashed off the get the dressing for the bream ..( I know this isnt a huge thing but having been to other Jason restaurants it was a bit off. We moved onto main course with chicken, cranberry, creamed Brussels...fabulous flavours and presented beautifully, my partner had the flat iron steak , again cooked to perfection but the given steak knife wouldnt cut through it , had to ask for a sharper one. Again these are not huge issues but not to the standard we expect from going to an Atherton restaurant. And just a bit slow all round.Wouldnt rush back there, where as all the others we have wanted too and occasionally have 😊

Just wow! Amazing experience at the chefs counter, sitting in the kitchen. Fantastic atmosphere and so much fun to be able to chat with the chefs as they worked. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming. The food was outstanding, from presentation to taste, absolutely flawless. The tasting menu is a lot of food! So arrive hungry. They paid attention to our dietary requirements/preferences too.The only criticism was that the drinks took wayyyy too long to arrive. We had been served two food courses before our first drink arrived. The food did arrive very quickly and we felt a little rushed. Would’ve been nice to have longer gaps. I wonder if they had other bookings after us that they were trying to fit in?Overall a great experience and a wonderful evening.

A feel of class, but not in your face, moreover subtle and refined decor and ambience. Greeted warmly we were met by our waiter who talked us through the menu. The descriptive on the menu is imaginative and benefits from a little explanation… both interesting and fun. When it came to the food… a flavour explosion, dining Nirvana. I could easily compose an individual write up on every course. For fear of boring you, I will simply say that every course was 11/10!! But I have to say, the dessert was mind blowing. We will most definitely return

I think this is everything a modern restaurant should be.It is top level food and service without the pretence or snottiness of other establishments. I have been several times before, for occasions and casual meals. Their balance hit the right cord with every visit I have made. The set lunch is great and affordable way to introduce yourself to the restaurant. Or you could just treat yourself to a blow out supper.I love the lamb that they offer, for me it is the best lamb that I have ever eaten.

We went for a special occasion for drink and dinner. They made a bit of confusion with our reservation, but they found solution right away. Food is amazing (we made a chef table experience), why not 5 stars? We just found 2 plats not at same very high level then the rest of menu, but we already provided our constructive feedback on the spot.Prices do correspond perfectly with the quality of food.A bit different my opinion about the wine list. Very large choise but I think a bit expensive.Big appreciation for decoration.Anyway, I would come back next time in London.

We had lunch here on Monday and booked a table at 12 pm. We arrived at 12.05 pm and realised the floor staff were having a briefing. We were asked to wait at the bar by the receptionist about 5-7 minutes and then got seated later. We waited for another 5 minutes until we got the menu from the waiter. After we ordered our drinks and food, it took 15 minutes for just orange juice and apple juices to arrive and 40 minutes for our starters to arrive. I have to say that this is very unprofessional and disappointing for such a Michelin star restaurant located in Soho. It was only 4 tables since we ordered our food and it took 40 minutes for the starters to arrive. It also took another 20 minutes for our main courses to arrive after the staff called it. I doubt and question the management, floor, bar and kitchen team to take action ASAP to fix this problem as you are supposed to operate and be ready to service customers at 12 pm not 12.30. This was very unprofessional especially when your restaurant was not busy at all. However, I have to say that the staffs service was quite professional and the food was good. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also nice.

Social Eating House was only a few minutes away from Soho Theatre so I decided to have the last dinner of the trip at this another restaurant of Jason Atherton. It has the perfect vibe for chit chat and social gathering but it might become a distraction if the focus is on the food.I have ordered the sampler menu with 6 dishes which lasted for 2.5 hours (from 9 to 11:30 pm). Some of the ingredients (such as the mushroom teaare similar to those at Pollen Street Social but generally the food is less impressive or maybe I was too exhausted towards the end of the dinner. It was fun nonetheless walking on the street in midnight in Soho area.

Pretty good place - the degustation was ok, I expected a bit more as I have been to Pollen Street Social and found that fantastic. The atmosphere and service was remarkable. I found the foods to be on the salty side - not quite what I’d expect for a 1 Michelan restaurant. The highlight was the entree and dessert, very tasty. They also have a bar upstairs so you can grab a drink / cocktail while you wait for the table. The cocktails are really nice.

Had the Chefs Counter Experience menu with wine pairing. Seven courses with six wines. The quality of the ingredients combined with in creativity made this one of my favourite meals in London. The steak tartare was a highlight, as was the scallop ceviche and the venison. The service was incredible and the sommelier was very approachable. Seeing how professional their chefs and kitchen staff are definitely means Ill be returning.

Refined food and wine with a relaxed ambience and attentive but not overbearing service. Quite cosy, the tables at the back looked a little close together - ask for a booth, or, the chefs table of 8 seats in the kitchen to be in the thick of the action. We had the taster menu with wine, fantastically paired throughout. Menu was 6 courses, all delicious, but the turbot and lamb were triumphant.Recommend for a date night or special occasion, you wont be disappointed.

Not sure exactly what the hype is about. Started off upstairs at the Blind Pig. Totally packed, dark, and unbearably hot! Service was really slow. It was also really weird that a place of that size only has 10 menus. (That was the excuse they gave why we couldnt keep one at our table to go over for the next drink. We had to look it up online.)The cocktails were first ordered themselves were actually quite good despite the looooooong wait. (Hunny pot, Fowl Play, Shire). Wed barely had a few sips when our table was ready downstairs, also really hot but not quite as sweltering as upstairs. This is where it got a bit annoying. Apparently you cant order cocktails from upstairs if youre eating downstairs because "it will take too long". We said we didnt mind waiting but they refused and insisted on the downstairs cocktails instead which were all 800% less interesting. And for some reason took FOREVER all the same. I dont understand the excuse of waiting time if the downstairs ones take just as long? All in all, not being able to order upstairs cocktails downstairs was a huge issue in my enjoyment of the night since that is what I was most looking forward to.Service was nice but incredibly slow all through the night. Especially the bar. Some drinks took over 10 minutes to arrive!Food was... decent. For a Michelin star restaurant, I expected more. The scotch egg was cooked terribly! (You can see my photo. It was very undercooked. Ive had better at local pubs. Tartare was really good. My friends enjoyed the ceviche most but I didnt since I dont like radish. For mains we shared the venison and the rabbit. Rabbit was cooked well but didnt really excite me tastewise. I only had a few bites. Venison was really nicely done but it wasnt outrageously good. Much like nice venison anywhere. Salami is salami. The drinks were meh, and had annoying raspberry powder on the outside of the glass. Desserts were nothing special. We ended going back to the Blind Pig later in the week and it was totally empty!! We got the chance to try more of the cocktails and some were good, some werent. Fowl Play was still nice. 5 a Day was fun to look at but a bit annoying to drink since it took forever for the fruit ices to melt. Lost and Found was AMAZING. The Tumnus Tipple wasnt great. Very weak and the powder on the glass got mess everywhere. It wasnt garnished like the photos. All the drinks except for a few tasted mostly of juice.Overall, I didnt really enjoy the downstairs, or the refusal to serve blind pigs cocktails during dinner. The food was mediocre for the price and wait and expectations. Boring cocktails in the restaurant. Half of Blind Pigs cocktails are pretty good but not sure Id ever bother with them on a busy Thursday, Friday or Saturday night.

Came here for a quick set lunch which is well priced at around £26 for 3 courses. I really enjoyed my main which was the Cod. The dish actually had flavor which usually is not the case in more upscale places. The environment here is more laid back. Great quality food. Would recommend if in area.

The entrance of Social Eating House might be a bit hard to find as there’s is always a long line queuing for the bar next door. Starters were amazing, we had scallop carppacio and the ham and scotch egg dish, they both tasted really good! For mains, we had the fish and duck, portions were massive, presentation of the fish was meh, could be improved. Like I said earlier, food portions were huge and we also ordered a side dish Macaroni cheese, portion of the side dish is huge as well, tasty though but we ended up not being able to finish it. Their desserts are pretty much the star of the show, we had the peanut ice cream and raspberry dessert, it was amazing! Could have another one if we weren’t already stuffed by mains! Prices are reasonable as their food portions are pretty big, for average eaters, you might just want to order the main without side dishes so you can enjoy the desserts too!

Ambiance. Service. Food. Location. In that order. Highly recommend for a very good meal and dining experience. There’s a Michelin sticker in the window so I’m thinking it’s a “gourmand” or maybe 1 star as the food is really great, not The best. Though, by London standards it’s friggen amazing!! I recommend going shopping nearby and then sneak in here, cozy up to the bar and order away. The wine menu is fantastic too, and the staff knows exactly how to pair the wine w your meal. Enjoy!

The venue does seem a bit like an exclusive secret society. Everything on the menu was intriguing and I wanted to order each dish to try. We asked for some recommendations and the waiter seemed to know enough about the dishes. The ham hock jar was surprisingly good and delicious with the piccalilli. Roasted loin of rabbit and black treacle cured cote de porc (pork chop sounds so much more fancier in French). Each dish was packed with flavour and I devoured every single thing on my plate. Dessert of clementine parfait and caramelised milk and brown sugar tart were just as good.Wheelchair access: step free entrance and there is plenty of room to get around without having to ask other diners to move out of the way. There is also an accessible toilet within easy reach.Service was good and food amazing. This is one of the few places where I want to try everything on the menu so will definitely be back for more.
