Imaginative lodging in rooms & suites made of ice, or eclectic cabins with private hot tubs.
Snow Village in Rovaniemi
Description
Privilege
It was expensive but a really enjoyable experience. The detail and concept is amazing. You dont really appreciate the level of skill involved until you see it there in person. The theme will change annually but this is from December 2021 and it was a futuristic theme involving space and robotics
MoreAbsolutelly stunning experience. We stayed over-night, slept in a room with cyber-chameleon and were simply amazed how precise and beautiful the whole village is. Deffinitely recommend visiting!!
MoreThe snow village was pretty cool! The sculptures are amazing and taking a vodka shot in ice shot glasses was amazing!!!
MoreBeautiful Ice Artwork! Every year another theme and every room looks different. Must have is a shot in an ice glass in the ice bar
MoreExtraordinary ambience and friendly staff! It was a very special experience to stay a night in the snow room.
MoreCustomer Service: 5Location: 5Parking: 5Cleanliness: 5Reservations: 5This lodging is situated in Kittila, Finland and is a very popular tourist attraction. My spouse and I decided to visit this location a few weeks ago, since weve been to other similar attractions throughout the world. It was very easy to navigate to with the use of our GPS device and Google maps. The staff was very friendly and helpful upon us arriving. They have many rooms for their guests who have reservations. They stay booked up between January through April, so I would highly recommend you to have reservations prior to just showing up. They also have both a restaurant in the snow village without afireplace, and a restaurant inside the main lobby with a fireplace in case you need to warm up.
MoreVery disappointed about the ice restaurant. We were 4 people, and not even everyone was seated and they already asked if we wanted something to drink. These drinks came at the same time as the starters and the wine! The start was a bowl of soup that was 30% filled or something. I expected more for a €70 menu. As soon as the last person finished his bawl, they took it directly to replace it with another very small main course, it actually looked like a starter. And of course in the same way they took the plates as soon as the last one finished it, he had still food in his mouth. And as dessert, a very small portion of crème brûlée. It wasnt what was on the menu (should have been something with white chocolate?).Seems like on the way back we were not the only ones who had this experience. Well never come back here. The ice village itself was a 5 out of 5 though. Just dont eat in the ice restaurant, its as bad as it can get.
MoreAmazing place, definitely worth a visit while in the area. There are a few different rooms, and bedroom ice carvings are really impressive.
MoreAfter a 30 minute drive from Levi. We were reaching close to the Lapland Snow village. After we turned from the main road as per our one and only google auntys instruction. Actually, we were a bit confused as the road does not seem to be a normal road and we doubted that we are driving through the actual road or not. The way google map was showing is a dark snow-covered path between a pine forest. After a few hundreds of meters, we saw some lights and found the actual road to the Lapland snow village. Also, we are too happy to experience that snow road adventure drive. Snow Village is a Chapter of Lapland ice Hotels group. Its built up only in the wintertime. There is an amazing video showing the construction of the ice hotel. The temperature outside was around only -25. So we couldnt stay further exposed. We took some quick snaps in front of the welcome wall and got inside. The building is completely made by ice except for the reception area. To enter inside the snow park we need to purchase a 15 EUR admission ticket. On the left side of the entry, you could witness one of Laplands amazing experiences - The Ice restaurant. But the minimum expenditure to enter is 75EUR. But when we had a look from outside, we didnt its that worth visiting. So we just skipped and proceeded to the real ICE world. When we stepped inside the door it looked exceptionally magical. At first, we see an ice corridor coloured with pink lights and shining ice crystals. The reflection of lights through the ice and the silence inside peeped us to another world. The temperature inside was around -2 to -5. And we dressed up for -25 because of the outdoor activity. So after a few steps inside here, we started feeling hot… yes.. Really… inside the ice room, actually, we were feeling hot. After we pass through the corridor, there are plenty of rooms. A theatre to show the construction of the snow village and ice hotel. A chapel for peaceful pray. And some chat rooms. But the wonder is, each and everything on those rooms is made by crystal clear ice. The sitting bench. The tables, shelves, status each and everything made by ice. And each year they are constructing on a different design. So, each year the visitors will see something different After watching all this, we entered the centre. Each junction inside the building is connected with colourful ice corridors. And at the centre, the most amazing experience… THE ICE BAR. The ice bar is completely made of ice. Completely means from the sitting chair to the drinking glass. Everything is made using crystal clear ice. And they have some special arctic drink. we decided to try something from there. Something unique. Yes, the drink only available in Lapland region. Called Lplandia” its a fine vodka for cold temperature mixed with different flowers. we choose to try a shot from the Blueberry Laplandia vodka. The short glass also carved from ice in front of us and we really enjoyed the hotshot. Next to the ice bar, the is a huge sculpture of "Game of Thrones" made in the ice. And from there onwards, there are many bedrooms made using ice blocks. Yes.. only the mattress and pillows are made using wool. Everything else is made by ice and decorated using colourful lights gives a really romantic atmosphere. And each bedroom is decorated with different kinds of sculptures. I felt like, this place is a photographers paradise.
MoreBeautiful experience to share with the family! The most incredible art work displayed all greeted from lights, ice and snow ❄️ ⛄️Teepee ⛺️ outside for marshmallow toasting and great places for the kids to play in the snow.We personally as there were 4 adults two kids paid for a taco from our hotel in Yllas, 50€ each way then 16€ entry to the ice village. Worked out cheaper for our group and we didn’t have to go with a bus load of other people.
MoreLovely place, great art. Visitors can wander around all the rooms up till 10pm at which point those who have booked for the night get to move in. Slide and bar were fun. Quite small though so an hour or so is plenty for time to look around. You can also book a meal in the ice restaurant. You can get a taxi here but probably not much difference in price to a tour as they are v expensive.
MoreA bit pricey, but so worth it. A very unique experience, lot of work has gone into this temporary exhibition. Only visited during day and did not stay overnight - not sure I would want one of these futuristic creatures looking over me during the night.
MoreSuch a magical and wonderful place to visit! Would love to spend a night there...
MoreFun place, but expensive for a short visit. Entrance ticket is 19 euros, shot at the bar 8 euros.
MoreLapland Hotels SnowVillage is created with ice and snow. In winter It is perfect place to visit with friends & family. There are different type of ice and snow sculptures created every year, mainly based on different themes. There is a restaurant which is made by ice and you can drink & have food there. Great location to stop by during your holiday. Ticket adult 19,00€ Ticket child 10€ Tickets can be bought from inside. We visited in December 2020. However also I like the road and outside atmosphere which is amazing to see. There are also few activities there like husky ride, snowmobile etc. Highly recommend to visit if you are visiting Rovaniemi, Levi or near places and obviously in winter. Its also better to check its details from online when you are going to visit.
MoreMust see attraction if you are nearby Levi or Ylläs skiing center. Ice sculptures are the best you can find in Finland and they change every year so worth a visit year after year. They got international attention some years ago with Game of Thrones theme. In 2020 the theme was illusions. Great lunch served indoors is a big plus so you can get warm after the exhibition.
MoreWe were on our way back from Yllas ski resort to Levi, and we decided to stop for a drink at thr Snow Village. We came here not really knowing what to expect, is it a real hotel? When is it open? Can we just walk around and observe the place? So here are the answers. This place exists only during winter time. It is indeed a hotel, but with weird rules. For example, guests are not allowed into their rooms until very late in the evening, so that visitors could visit the rooms. Unlike a regular hotels, stopping by for a casual coffee in the lobby is not an option. In order to pass the gate, visitors are required to pay €18 per person. If you wish to buy food, coffee or drinks, you will of course need to pay extra. The entire place is built of snow and ice, and they have amazing ice statues and decorations.
MoreBeautiful ice and snow sculptures. Cool bar. Somebody might complain that the rooms are cold but thats necessary to keep them dry.
MoreAmazing winter fairy tale place !Cool cold and beautiful!
Very unique place. Whole village is built with snow and ice. This year all sculptures were done by French artists. Temperature inside is about -5*C. It is really worth to see tis place.
MoreUnique experience with ice and snow art inside a huge iglu construction and ice dining with table and bench of block of ice. Pre-set three course dinner was delicious and plentiful, including also veg option. Be aware at the Ice Bar, the schnapps glasses are of ice and slippery.
MoreI have visited here for the last 12 years and this years theme is one of the best. Plenty of illusions that are easily missed so take the time to view things at different angles or perspective. If you are coming to this area of Finland this is an absolute must see and one of my top ten things to do. Grab a Finlandia vodka in the ice bar or a warming hot chocolate and doughnut in the log restaurant. Great for the kids with an ice slide the last few years. So tour starts with a walk through an arch lit by lights through icevrock and opens into the man with the hands coming out the wall. Stand in the arch to the ice chapel to get the full effect. The ice chapel has panels that turn from the left as a snow village to the right as a monk.If you have a panorama setting use it to great effect here. The next room has a sculpture best viewed from afar. Off this room is the DJ room and the maze and ice slide which is great for the kids. From here is the ice bar and after this is the various decorated bedrooms.Dont miss the illusion on the wall in the corridor to the left of the red map marker. Remember not everything is a visual illusion.Go back and read what is above the map marker. Bet you read "you are here" first time. Also take the chance to visit the wooden chapel just behind the snow village. It is very beautiful in its simplicity.
MoreFun place, lots of art or should I say snow-ice art. And has an ice-bar! Just be aware that its usually quite cold, or wet if you want to sit 😁
MoreWonderfull place to visit! This year 2020 theme: Artic Illusions ❤️
Wonderful place. Awesome art work which changes each year. This years theme was optical illusions. Also enjoyed the snowmobile to see Santa and a brief lap with Huskies. Highly recommended.
MoreVery nice ice and snow sculptures here at Snow Village. I can say these are some of the best. There is a hotel and as you would think there is ice for a part of the beds so it can get very cold at night.
MoreCool place. Impressive amount of snow used to build hotel and several rooms. Guided tour of 30 min by #safartica guide with another 30min free time. Quite crowded for lapland standards. Delicious raindeer stew in ice restaurant
MoreIf you visit Lapland this is a must see, the whole building is made of ice and snow. It has its own ice cinema, ice bar, ice hotel and numerous ice carved sculptures throughout.
MoreTruly an experience of lifetime.. Insanely beautiful snow&ice craftsmanship. Place that you have to visit. There was few downsides for my taste, the music atmosphere wasnt from the movie or it didnt fit for the GOT theme. At the bar they played Finnish pop songs like Tuure Kilpeläinen, that was a bit turnoff for the palace, same thing at the restaurant. The whole place was pretty bright, I was waiting a something bit more from the presentation of the sculptures.
MoreIve been here twice in a row now, because of the game of sh*t theme there. This year (2019it was way more impressive but as the bartender said, the first year the idea just came up abruptly and they didnt have much time to plan it. This time the amount of effort they put into the snow sculptures showed. Especially the three eyed crow was impressive, but all of the sculptures had an amazing depth to them. The ice bar is always nice and they had an option for spiked blueberrysoup or basic blueberrysoup (its not juice, what are you, european?!and the restayrant inside the building is also really cozy and nice as long as there are no european tourist yellin... I mean "having a converation" there. It was really funny to see all the tourists taking over the larger hall with their rattling and all finns were on the side sitting quielty. Yea I dont line tourists, whats your point? There really isnt any signs to find the place which is annoyingWe had some lighting problem at the ens of our visit, with snow falling and malfunctioning the generator. Also the f*cking tourists need to keep an eye on their kids, unless they want a res headed bear on their back. They let them run and screem everywhere and they just play on the sculptures like it was their badly made snow pile back at their yard. Somebody needs old school disclipine.
MoreAwesome concept, so much eye candy and professional guides. Must visit for everyone.
MoreVery original attraction in the middle of the Lapland’s forest. I am not sure whether I will ever spend a night in one of the rooms due to the extreme cold, but guided tour is extremely worthy. I really recommend having a drink in the ice glasses.
MoreGame of thrones themed snow village. Very beautiful carvings inside. Student priced ticked is 10euros.inside is very cold better wear your thermal clothes when visiting. The theme changes every year. This castle will be closed by 21st of April. It is better to hire a vehicle to visit there as it is about 5km off the road.
MoreBeautiful place, middle of Lapland nature. Much to see and specially if youre a Game of Thrones fan as the have that theme on their snow/ice sculptures this season (2018-19)
MoreThis is a amazing place, we was so impressed of the sculptures and the wonderful designed rooms. It was a great day at the Snow Village.
MoreGreat tourist attraction, really something that you can enjoy. Nice sculptures and mini bar where you can have drink, also a shots from glass cups.
MoreThe ice sculptures are a treat for the eyes. Each one has been done with so much care and with such explicit detail. Definitely worth the visit.I was lucky to visit when the theme was game of thrones!
MoreWe went to Snow Village as part of an excursion. It was a unique experience and definitely worth the money if you like Game of Thrones. We did not eat or sleep at Snow Village as it was very expensive and not worth the money in my opinion. If you do decide to sleep there, please bear in mind that its below zero all the time and the lights are on the entire night.
MoreFantastic experience, a village made of ice. This would only possible during the winter when outside temperature is low. Must go with there with warm outfits. Small bar inside with flavored drinks and a restaurant is available outside with good selection of food.
MoreDefinitly a place to be. Fantastic ice sculptures, a very nice ice bar and really big.
MoreTruly unique sleeping quarters. We arrived for the night at 1900. Had an hours tour of the snow village. Had a lovely dinner in the ice restaurant (there is a warm one if you want it). Then had the hotel to ourselves to wander. There is a guests area with kitchen, sofas, shower and sauna. Popped outside to see the northern lights and then off to bed. There are mattresses on the bed. The bags are comfort of -2 and limit of -9. You also get a fleece liner. We were not cold in bed and actually slept. Awoken by a warm juice drink and then breakfast. What an amazing unique experience which you will love and remember. The sculptures are truly amazing as well. Staff are lovely and friendly. Lapland highlight for me.
MoreHigh snow valley around all the place. Not welcoming place at all. Salmon sandwishes was kept in a warm serving desk. Lots of tourists in restaurant eating salmon soup..poor service to private customers.
MoreIncredible GoT ice sculptures. Dont skip this place! The price might (?feel a bit salty, but Id say its definitely worth the ~20€.Less surprisingly its fairly cold inside the snow village -> dress accordingly. If youre getting super cold, you can buy some hot chocolate in the ice bar inside the village. They didnt serve alcohol, though. The café next to the ticket counter is also really cozy, so after the "tour" we stayed there for a cup of coffee and snacks. One can buy some souvenirs at the gift shop. The parking lot has plenty of space, and it was free of charge during our stay in March 2018.
MoreGreat place and an amazing experience. Didn7 nightsnin kattila and will be going back. The ice hotel was one of the inghamms trips and was worth seeingIt was game of thrones themed and amazing what they can make from ice!!I’m not sure I would want to sleep there but an amazing place.
MoreAmazing, stunning work and such beauty. I would recommend this a million times over. A must see if you get the chance
MoreAmazing. Highly recommended to visit. Visited the place in December of 2018. The theme was Game of thrones. Entry was 17 euros but it is worth it. You can stay there overnight but it is not cheap. Better visit.
MoreMagical experience....children and adults. Husky rides. Reindeer rides. Ice hotel.Bonus we were lucky to have snow. Father Christmas was wonderful.
MoreWhen you wonder what they make out of all the snow and ice in Lappland, go and see for yourself. If the fact that you are walking inside a pile of snow is not exotic enough, the details of the art work will impress you. Worth the money, regardless of a short visit.
MoreMust visit in Finnish Lapland! Excellent this year with the Game of Thrones theme.
MoreFreezingly cold, but so enjoyable! Not sure if somebody can stay there for at least whole night but worth visiting. Ice bar/restaraunt are really gorgeous - designed according to the main theme of the year - Suomi 100 (100 years of independence). If you want to book a room - take a suite (otherwise experience might be ruined by simplicity of standard rooms). 15 euros is OK price for visiting without staying there.
