Smyths Bar & Club Icon in Sionainn
Description
Privilege
A cathedral of lies. It may look busy but it’s empty inside
By far the best spot in the city, good drinks, excellent bands and the djs are top notch.. just opened back up refurbished too 👍
MoreLast night I visited this place with my friends. The club is nice and sparkles, even the DJ was pretty good. but even though it was a pretty quiet night, a group of guys had stupid comments to our friend and one of them tried to put something in friends drink. When we told it to security and manager, they did nothing. So we left this club.
MoreGood food, reasonably priced, very friendly service.
Threw my 2 friends out for singing a song. Im a non drinker, the 2 guys had a couple on them but just tipsy not drunk. Particular bouncer threw them out for singing a song the band had just played. Didnt throw me out so about 5 or 6 people came up to me asking if they actually got thrown out for singing a song. Never seen anything like it in my life. I repeat...they were not drunk falling around. Sitting on chairs singing a song.
MoreComing here years staff very friendly food beautiful and my mum age ninety is enjoying her night x
MoreLarge. Visit was out of hours. So quiet and reserved. We are sure this would be a great venue for watching rugby or clubbing.
MoreGreat cocktails after learning the difference between a bar and pub.We sat for a few drinks and watched a futbol game. Chill place on a Wednesday!
MoreStaff are very friendly and helpful, also food is very tasty and filling, reasonably priced. Great atmosphere and all made feel welcome by bar staff, waitresses and bouncers. Would recommend this for people to try, you will not be disappointed, I will be back here again
MoreBouncers just refused us entry for no reason . 5 of us in total 3 irish and 2 polish all in our 40s . No reason given just not tonight ... heard racist rumours in past and experienced it first hand tonight . Could be no other possible reason, it was our first bar..
MoreWas just refused at the door by a heavy tanned bouncer with a moustache.. I approached the door first, greeted the bouncer and was told no immediately- * I dont drink alcohol * -and my partner had 3 pints previously. We are in our 30s and out on our own for dinner and wanted to see some live music in limerick..I asked for a reason and was flately told not tonight. I have never in my life been turned away from anywhere and as you can imagine , was extremely embarrassed.I dont drink and therefore I was not stumbling or behaving in any manner where he could think I was drunk . I can only assume he based this purely on my appearance (I am wearing black pants , a suit jacket , a brown poli and flat shoes- more than appropriate in my opinion. If you are going to wrongly refuse entry then at the very least give a valid reason.
MoreVery nice place to hangout with your friends. Live music and lots of people having fun.
MoreNot too bad but not able to take my 18 year old sons in for a drink after 7pm. Also not able to buy larger bottles of coke after 6pm. Customer service could be better. Good venue for music though.
MoreFood wasnt half bad but paid full price for a baby bowl ×2 was a bit overpriced, abit of mash and gravy..Iam not greedy by all means but your baby is not going to be in there without yourself so youll be buying food also..So they still get their monies..
MoreAfter the 5th time I give up trying to get in that place, they dont know how hard is for a tetraplegic person get dressed to enjoy the night with friends and they refuse you for no reason... to be honest I dont care to get there anymore but Im so sad to be discriminated because my wheelchair.
MoreHad carvery here today very tasty and plenty on plate. Loads of room and big screens around perfect to watch matches. Nice decor and staff too.
MoreNo sound on the man united and Liverpool match and you could barely see it on screen at least 20 people including 8 of us went elsewhere. Wont be returning
MoreGreat bar for a good nite out. .can get very full very quickly on a weekend ..nite club downstairs..great music...friendly bar staff but wouldnt say a the same about doormen. .can b quiet rude and arrogant on nite club door..
MoreBald bouncer is a nice guy, but the other bouncer is a racist. I was treated less than human without provocation or justification. I was ejected for no reason and I understand that options are limited, but Nancy’s is a friendly place without the racial prejudice.👏🏾
MoreA bar for the rough and ready, if you dont mind being watched in the mens room by a camera,,, Ive never been there later in the evening, i so pose its different, i left my home town Limerick a long long time ago, theres been too many changes.
More......I won’t recommend this place to anyone, sorry to say that but you can be sure, that you are not welcomed there! Bouncers are very rude! You feel unwanted there for the very first..The rudest staff you will ever meet. The bouncers especially are very unaccommodating. They are very clearly on a power trip & treat everyone like they are less than them. Ive never met staff so rude. Its a shame because the venue has great potential but the staff would turn anyone off going.......s
MoreGreat for food and drink in the bar but the attitude of the bouncers in the Club is beyond the pale in my experience.
MoreMy favourite place to eat, not just because of the convenient location and great food, the service is always friendly and the waiting staff always make an extra effort to help their customers.
MoreHorrible bouncers.. I came toward the 2 bouncers and was friendly to them asking what kind of music they are playing.. One answered hip hop, rock any kind of. I replied ok I am gonna give it a go The one next to him with the beard replied not tonight and did not even look at me and ignored me... If I could give negative stars I would but unfortunately Google review doesnt have that option !!!
MoreIf you want to go on a night outo where youre not treated like a person come here. It is a terrible venue. Ive never experienced such bigoted views from the staff, where one racist vouches for the others. If you have any self respect and want to enjoy your night out then dont come here. The bald bouncer at the main door will refuse entrance to any non ethnic Irish, and others with them, and literally spat towards the shoes of my friend, who is of Pakistani heritage, not once but twice. We were neither intoxicated nor under age, but just two guys looking to enjoy their night. The only thing were both grateful for not getting in is not giving them our business.
MoreIts lovely, clean & I love the food menus. I think the music is a bit loud. Even during the day when having a meal.
MoreConsistently and persistently the worst and rudest and most power tripping door staff in Limerick. Something most of limerick says but may not type on reviews like this.Ive never been stopped going in there but Ive seen them in action. I just hope visitors to Limerick know their behavior is not real Limerick. They totally ruin what could be one of the citys best bars for atmosphere and live music.Yes Im probably much older than their regular crowd but Ive spent long enough in the bar trade to see and know what happens there and its a disgrace theyve got away with it for this long.
MoreWe were strolling through Limerick around lunch time and noticed the huge Gin display at the entrance like many people these days im loving the gin . My partner ordered a Guinness for himself and the gin and tonic for me . To be told by the very sheepish young lad behind the bar " we dont sell shorts until after 6pm" Unfortunaly they didnt have Appletise either which was my non alcoholic preference . So my partner enjoyed his pint and I enjoyed a coke and we then left deciding we didnt want to risk the food menu and the next rejection .
MoreSaw a great band playing great covers of funk, rap, rock... Just great. Lots of people dancing. I almost threw up due to the smell emanating from the bathrooms, super gross and scary.
MoreGreat venue. Live music is awesome. Drinks are cheap and cocktails are delicious. Our favourite night in Ireland was here.
MoreGreat Craic. Great music. It is also my go to place for my nights out. Ive lost 2 jackets this year there alone. But that was my own fault haha
MoreWell what can I say! Im here every week! 😂Best place to go in Limerick. Good drink deals. Great people. Externally gay friendly recently 😉😉👌
MoreSmyths have good enough bands and lots of space but thats about it. The cocktails are rotten with hardly any alcohol (thats why theyre so cheap). The smoking area is tiny its like being in a cage. Just go down the road to the Old Quarter its a lot better
MoreNice place for food during the day but as soon as the bouncers come on thats the end of your night there, unless your a young woman with short dress haha. 2 nice pubs across from there tho that your always welcome into and have great atmospheres
MoreWorst bar in ireland. Staff is uneducated and half british mostly! and the security is a joke to anyone who wants to have a nice time. Amateurs ,the lot of them!
MoreThis bar is possibly Limericks WORST. The bouncers were renowned as Limericks most unpleasant and arrogant and I can honestly say it is 100 per cent accurate. They take pleasure in turning people away for no reason, sneering as they say "not tonight" and then ignoring you when you ask for a reason. A power trip for bullies, stroking their own egos because Im sure no one else will. Waist of time and money!!!
MoreFood from the bar is always good and with the carvery with it during the afternoon its a great place for dining in the city centre. In the evening it has great bands every night of the week. The bar can get very crowded in the evening.
MoreAlright for a pub. Not good for a quiet drink but there is live music and dance (popevery night. Nightclub upstairs too, however can be very pricy depending on night.
MoreDo decent food during the day. Have to give this place 2 stars though for having the rudest doormen in the city who have had a chip on their shoulder the past 10 years.
MoreNot a bad bar, quite nice inside. Over 21s I think but not 100% sure on that. Night club above, the icon which is one of limerick premium nightclubs. Not my scene though.
MoreA very large a pretty clean venue for what is set up as predominantly a night club.Plenty of tables and TVs for food and watching sports during the day and large bar areas for the night. One problem with the place is that the majority of the staff seem to be stuck in a night club mindset even during the day.Not paying attention to customers when its quiet and not particularly interested in the food service. This may be due in part to the average age of the staff being extraordinarily young but that shouldnt take away from a decent standard of service during the day time.A little bit of training from a manager or even an outside source a day this place is definitely 5 stars.
MoreBig bar located in Denmark St, part of the Icon nightclub, serve a wide range of drinks. Live music some nights. Easier route into the icon if youve been turned away at the door
MoreAlways a great place for a night out with great cocktails. Service can be a little slow at times but the venue and atmosphere make up for it. Best times to visit here are from 9 pm onwards.
MoreThe pub is nice and the live music really helps. Icon is okay, doesnt really feel like a club until upstairs is open, then its a really really fun place to be
MoreThey do great lunch. Really good value. Also do tea/coffee and scone for 2.50 and free refill. Best value in town. Staff are really friendly and good choice of hot and cold food
MoreWent on a Wednesday and was delighted at the €3.50 cocktails! The price only applied to certain ones, but they were the classics like the Long Island etc etc. Just be sure to check the list on the posters before you order! I have to say even the ones not part of the deal were average cocktail prices anyway so it wasnt too much trouble. Oh and when the nightclub part opened the deal was there too which was nice! Not all the options were available, which is I guess expected for a nightclub but most of the €3.50 ones where available! The place is massive, bathrooms clean and quite cute (the ladies anyway!), bar staff were very nice- when it wasnt too busy one of the bar staff took a few pictures for me and my friends which was a nice touch! Loads of drink deals, two for ten that sort of thing! There werent many posters advertising that though, but the bartender rattled off a few for us. Have to say when the bar was super busy it took a while to get drinks but I think that was down to there only being two staff for a whole rake of people. Yeah, overall a nice night!
MoreBrilliant live music venue with bands playing in the bar seven days a week. Good beer/drinks deals and food served morning/afternoon.
MoreIts excellent place for listing to a good music
The cocktail options are the best the city has to offer. One of the best places to listen to the live music bands and for organising stag parties.
MoreHad the misfortune of popping in here on a stag night out. Only half were let in and when we explained that they were with us the door staff just didnt care. We all left and spent our money elsewhere.
