Smokeys Brighton in Brighton

My chicken was raw the mash potatoes was lumpy and out of a packet so bland.I had to leave because I really didn’t want to offend ,knowing that I was being watched .

Nice atmosphere and very good quality ingredients for the full English breakfast I had. Not cheap greasy Cafe prices but @ roughly £10 a head, breakfast + coffee worth it for the quality of food.

Quiet, but great staff. My boyfriend had the all you can eat ribs and he wasnt let down. I had a burger. The portion sizes were large which was amazing and well worth the price!

Got to get back here as the burger was amazing and too much to eat in one sitting

Over all a very disappointing experience. The chicken wings were uncooked, and it appeared that the sauce/marinade had been dumped on top as an after thought. The grilled quarter chicken was totally overcooked and Flavourless. However the burger and chips were enjoyable. I should also mention the service and general cleanliness of the restaurant was good.

Friendly staff, huge portions, decent beer selection and very tasty. Didn’t have to wait too long. I’d recommend the Armadillo eggs as a starter. Urinals were fixed to the wall too high, had to tiptoe. Will definitely go back when I get some Cuban heels.

The meat was tough and didnt seem like it was smoked nor had any care taken over of it. The ribs were so tough that the sauce was the only redeeming feature, the brisket was dry and tasted of NOTHING. Sausage was the most flavoursome part yet still too tough and lacked depth of flavour. Chips were meh, coleslaw tasted as if it came straight out a pot. Overall bad experience, and expensive to top it off.

Disappointed visit. I went for the burger and pint offer as it was Wednesday night, definitely a mistake. The burger patty whilst big was also not handmade on site, it had the taste and feel of being mass produced. The rest of the burger components were good, however I didnt finish as it was too wetherspoons-y. Starters were good, I had the potato bombs. Next time I visit Ill be going for the BBQ options.... Oh and the cheese fries were great and the staff were very friendly and helpful!

Amazing food and staff were fantastic, had two 5 year olds with us and we asked them for one lot of macaroni cheese and 2 bowls so they could share, but when it came out they had already done it for us, my boyfriend had the smokeys blowout burger which he doubled up and dirty fries was like a man vs food challenge, defiently recommend anyone going but dont eat anything before hand.

The food here is wonderful and the portions are massive. We had the sharing platter between two and it could easily have fed 3. The pulled pork was delicious though slight too bbq-y for me. The beef brisket melted in the mouth. The fries and onion rings both deliciously crunchy. A fun place with friendly staff, right on the seafront. I thought the platter was very good value being £29 between two as most of the main dishes were approx between £15-£18.

Food was amazing! I ordered a burger with a side of fries, when it came it was.big enough to feed an army. The burger was the size of a side plate with a bucket of sweet potato fries, all of which was delicious, just difficult to finish. Prices were pretty good when you consider the size of the dish. There was a group of 13 of us, food came quickly and there were zero complaints, just compliments and comments on how they wouldnt finish the plate

Mains were very tasty, food came out in reasonable time and all of the family enjoyed their meals. I had the pulled pork nachos, definitely ticked all the right boxes.Was disappointed by the misadvertised Apple Cobbler, it’s just a piece of spiced sponge cake so would suggest avoiding that.Server seemed young and slightly inexperienced, required a lot of prompts but seemed like a nice enough kid.

Really good food, Harry the waiter was lovely and very accommodating so was the manager. Food portions were bigger than expected. The peanut butter milkshake could have been better but otherwise a great experience.

I was there on a Tuesday night for the wings night, I like the BBQ sauce and the spicy wings, it’s a bargain to go if you are extremely craving for the American style wings! Besides, I loveeee the sweet potato wedges!

Loved this place, food is good and plentiful, we would definitely recommend here to anyone who likes this type of food.

Food was awful, considering it’s rite on the seafront the fish I had for my fish and chips was tasteless, frozen and just disgusting. I had one mouthful and it made me feel ill and couldn’t eat anymore. As for the prices it’s so over prized for the rubbish they served us. I will never be returning and for anyone else thinking of going do not waste your time or money! Wish I had got fish and chips from the pier would of been cheaper and actually edible.

We went here as a couple for dinner, walked in the entrance to find a bar and a few tables but no staff to be seen, went down a little passage to then find main restaurant and all the staff, greeted promptly and nicely and got a free choice near enough of where to sit. Food menu has a large choice which is quite good but be aware portion size is quite large and as we had a sharing starter and a main each neither of us could eat all our main, although the chips that came with the beef brisket looked like value frozen chips.

their best food in the menu is the smokeys shared platter. If you are meat eater. It is amazing Burgers and other chicken sandwiches that are like schnitzel are not so great. The bread is dry and it almost feels like they have put different things on top of each other. It falls apart no so tasty. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I think they should do something with their sandwiches and then they are spot on. I still like going there though.

The food is amazing and the staff is friendly to begin with. Im here enjoying this evening with my girlfriend. She had Mac n Cheese balls and really liked it. I had the Potato Bomb and it was amazing. The potato was good and the pulled pork is one of the best ones Ive ever had. Oh, and the garlic bread we had as a side was the best. Absolutely amazing! As a main she had the pulled pork with fries and she loved it. I had a Smokey Mountain. Its a 7 oz. burger (although I doubled it upwith cheese and bacon and gherkin and red onion. It was really good, excellent. I ordered cheesy chips with it and it was a plate full, like for two people, and it was really good as well. You really get worth for your money and there was more than enough food on the plates.

It was quite unfortunate that we had dined here during a time when there were a couple of large groups - including a hen party of 30 - as this led to very slow service (about 1hr wait between starter and main). Our waitress however was very lovely and did apologise. In regards to the food, I had a "clam chowder" and hotdog. The clam chowder was an odd colour and consistency. Though it tasted ok, I really wouldnt recommend it. The hot dog was better, and the brisket my dining partner had was also pretty good. The view we had was lovely. Sadly, I can only give it two stars because overall my experience this time around was quite bad.

Fantastic place for breakfast, lunch, dinner. From eggs Benedict to slow cooked brisket amazing ribs and burgers this place has it all. Wonderfully cooked with brilliant friendly service. Bring a huge appetite these are serious portions. Dont go to Brighton and miss it.

Really nice place, huge portions! Had the mac n cheese with added blue cheese and it was seriously incredible! Quite possibly the best mac n cheese Ive ever had!

Always a great meal at Smokeys in Brighton, my favourite restaurant in the South East. With its humble and subtle entrance you are entering an establishment with some of the best food in Sussex. The meals are always cooked perfectly using top grade meat. The chief here has their recipe on point for every dish so you will never be disappointed! The staff are always courteous and helpful, ask them anything and they will work to accommodate. Be sure to book ahead as can get better booked up fast.

Really enjoyed the food and dessert. 1st time there. My husband said best burger he had (blow-out 14oz burger). Nice staff, good service. Will eat there again soon.

We recently had a meal for my sons birthday. There was 14 of us and the staff did a fantastic job with a large table. Great big meals and Star on tap so I went away happy as did the rest of our group. Can’t wait to come back to try some more meat!

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, the food tasted very good. I would say excellent value for money if you are looking for a nice laid-back feel kind of place by the beach. Still on the value for money; food is served in nice generous portions and the cocktails are fab!

We came across this restaurant while walking along beech front and we were plasently surprised how good the food was. Great for meat lovers and good American size portions. Starter platter was excellent. I have big appetite but even I struggled to finish the main. I tried the beef brisket which you dont find in many restaurant in uk. Only criticism is the beef need a sauce with it as it was a bit dry on its own. Definitely go again.

Great for a snack or full meal, the food was really lovely. We had the southern fried chicken burgers which were amazing. The portion sizes are big almost actual American size. The staff were very friendly. Easy to get to off the sea front though I would expect not wheelchair accessible as there are quite a few steps down into the restaurant.

This place is epic! The BBC is out of this world and the portions are huge! Definitely think about ordering half of what you think you want! They have their own beer too which is very tasty indeed! Pricing is very reasonable, service is spot on. Highly recommended.

Delicious food, you get so much for your money! The drinks even, paid just over £5 for a beer and they bought over a pint! Excellent service, bought us water straight away and we were severed so quickly. Ill be going back here for the food!!

Fantastic place to come. Huge portions of quality food with reasonable prices considering the size.Bottles of water provided which is a nice touch.Great for special occasions. Good atmosphere with a bar area for pre drinks if you like.Loved my pulled pork fajitas.Will go again

Not exceptional food. American bar environment and menu but brisket is not that special. Same for chicken wings. Platter sizes are, instead, very American i.e. gigantic

Nice food, huge portions and you don’t have to wait long for your food either. Waiters good and polite too. Chips would be better if they where freshly cut and not packaged chips and maybe a little more coleslaw too but other than that all good. Milkshake was incredible

Great brunch. Accommodated for a group of 13 of us and didnt seem too bothered when less turned up. Happy to rush one order to catch a train. Yummy food and the best bit,a proper mug of tea, not some tiddly little cup. Highly recommend!

Had a great brunch here today. Pulled pork burger for me and egg and ham benedict for my daughter. Large portions and very tasty. Quite busy but plenty of tables and reasonably priced. Recommended.

Absolutely LOVE Smokeys. Staff are friendly. Food is amazing. Portions are HUGE!! Great atmosphere, very clean, comfortable and great for bigger parties too. Would absolutely recommend to everyone.

Great American style restaurant on Brighton seafront. Really good food, burgers, hot dogs, chicken, ribs all generously portioned, some dishes are huge, I had the full slab of ribs and was beaten by it, the meat was succulent and fell of the bone. The staff were very prompt and helpful. Will definitely visit again, very soon.

This place is heavenly for anyone who has an ambition to weight 300 pounds... The portions are madness.The food is absolutely delicious and there is a lot of choice... Unless youre Veggie (theres very little then).Theres usually space but you may find booking to be a lot more reliable.Bring a wheelbarrow for your friends for when theyve finished.

What a great tasty selection of food. If youre a meat eater then this certainly is a place to come. Having been here twice its still somewhere I would choose to come again. The staff are very polite and service is quick. Portions are very big, if youre looking for an extra side you may wish to hold back, especially if youre endeavouring in a 14oz blowout burger, let me tell you these are very filling. My sister is vegan and had a limited choice, from the brunch menu you only really have the choice of an avocado salad which then you can add sides to, in her case she chose pinto beans and sweet potato fries. I had to drop a star in the rating as we thought one of the chicken burgers we received was a little bit too pink. Nonetheless we all had a great time and we will be back soon.

Nice american style restaurant. We had the nachos to start which were great. For our mains we had the baby back ribs and chicken burger. The chicken burger was nice but quite plain. The ribs were nice and tender but werent overly smoky or flavoursome, but they were still a nice BBQ taste.The one annoying thing is the automatically added 10% service charge, for which I have removed a point from the review. I dont agree with restaurants adding this as I think the customer should choose what they want to tip. We politely declined the service charge, they forgot our drinks anyway so I wouldnt pay a £4 tip!
