Have always enjoyed dining here and would thoroughly recommend it.

Whilst visiting on holiday, we were looking specifically for a diner like this and visited purely because of the reviews.We were not disappointed and can see why in peak season it gets packed in here.We did book, but there was only a couple of people in there, which I wasnt surprised about as it was 5:00 on a September evening, just outside of peak season.I noticed staff busy cleaning the restaurant-skirting boards and walls, which I always appreciate seeing.Our server was so friendly and helpful when we queried items on the menu.Both had Nachos to start, huge portion. Would have liked some more salsa as the pot was quite small for the large portion.We both had steak, also HUGE portion. My partner had the garlic prawns with his and I was very impressed with how big they were and how beautifully cooked they were.I liked the fact that you could order extras on the side that werent a full portion, half a portion, for half the price. I love to have a selection of sides but dont want a full size or pay full price. So this was a really nice touch.Steak was perfectly cooked!I think it was a little pricey, but you get what you pay for, we knew it would be expensive as wed viewed the menu before we booked.But I have to say it was absolutely worth it!Visited the ladies whilst I was there, they were clean and tidy.Weve said if we visit again we will definitely eat there again!

Cannot fault the food, served and cooked to perfection.Staff more than helpful, making my husbands 81st birthday meal one of the best 👌

I had a very enjoyable Birthday meal here. I had the calamari, followed by the rib eye. The glaze really made the steak and the bourbon sauce was amazing. I definately recommend eating here.

Verry impressed with this place. Very friendly staff, and great food! Defo worth a visit! It does get busy so would book in advance if thinking of going on a Saturday!

Visited here whilst away and still trying to find a steak as good and we eat steak a lot! Was given a poor table but our fault for not booking! Must visit again!

The restaurant is good lovely waitress but I ordered garlic bread but as the taste was a bit funny and the chips were awful I would not recommend coming here

Best burger I have had in such a long time. I was waited on by a lovely, considerate and friendly member of staff called Jena.Ingredients were fresh and well selected; cooked to a great standard.It is really nicely decorated, they have done a great job with the restaurant. It was also serving food till 2200, which was a great plus.Definitely my new favourite local burger place.

The steak here was lovely! Cooked to absolute perfection.... the glaze added a nice kick. Recently dined in a restaurant in London and spent £80 on a steak meal, this one was on par with it 100%. Great cut of meat, flavoursome and cooked perfectly.Front of house staff were pleasant, and accommodating.Will return here for a meal on next visit to torquay

Smokey Joes was a minute walk from our hotel so we decided to give it a try after walking past a couple of times. We are so pleased we did and it completely exceeded our expectations. All of the staff were really friendly, service was quick and there was a lovely atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. Just make sure to save room for a slice of key lime pie!

Steak was good.not much vegan choice.friend had a burger and couldnt eat it.staff werent helpful and apparently sick in the ladys toilet.

The unfortunate circumstance of the theme and price with quality on par with a weatherspoons. At that price one should not be subject to a well-cooked burger without accommodation of preference. Have had worse, however, they could do better while charging premium prices.

First time at Smokey Joes, safe to say it was beautiful. My partner and I both had the 16ounce rump steak, and it was amazing. It was beautifully cooked and seasoned. If I didnt know it was a rump, I would of said a sirloin at least. Atmosphere was nice and the owners are lovely people. Definitely recommend.

With so many restaurants its a difficult decision. We smashed it with Smokey Joes. Went for the 16oz rump. Was cooked to perfection, with a glaze that complemented the steak rather than over powering it. Recommended highly!

Brilliant staff, very efficient service. Although the food itself was very good we did think the steaks were slightly over priced😪. Once you removed a very, very small garnish in a tiny dish, the chips and steak looked quite lost on the plate. I would go again but I think I would rather have a couple of starters instead of a main meal. The garlic king prawns were absolutely delicious.

What a lovely experience we both had this weekend. We decided to go for their new steaks cooked on the rock and were not disappointed. Absolute value for money...steak, chips and salad for £12.95!! Staff attentive as always with nothing being to much trouble, fun and smiles had by all. Thank you Joes

Went to Joes last night of are holiday and wise wed found it before, all the staff were very friendly and hard working, myself and my wife both had a steak and we ask for medium rear and both steaks came cooked to perfection, will definitely be paying another visit to Joes when next in Torquay 10/10

Absolutely beautiful dinner.My oldest find come to visit for my birthday meal and gave Joes a go as not been there for many years. Will definitely come calling again.

After initially good impressions from the stylish design and friendly staff, our enjoyment was ultimately limited by the sub standard food. The chips were clearly oven cooked from frozen like a bag you buy from the supermarket. Considering this, they didnt taste good.The "salad" was the size of my palm... Nothing more to be said about that.I had a burger and it did not taste good. It was big and as described on the menu but overcooked, tasteless and dry.Others in the group had a steak, which was OK, a Mac and cheese which was reportedly good and a rack of ribs. These ribs were, like the chips, clearly straight from the supermarket and were nothing special.Considering the ribs, for example, were £16, they were not satisfactory and this can be said about the majority of the food we ordered.They have the atmosphere, location and staff.All they need now is a well needed food refresh and I could recommend but for now I would certainly avoid if you are looking for a proper BBQ experience.

What a wierd way to run a business, cant book a table for a Saturday evening birthday meal after 5pm 🤯For people who work and want an evening meal its their loss of big spenders and tippers. Madness 🤦‍♀️And they say support local businesses, cant if you wanted to 🤣

Steaks were thin and didnt taste like quality meat. The pepper sauce was dreadful: small container full and tasted like a packet mix. Chips were frozen and pretty poor to be honest.That and 2 drinks came to just under £60.Not sure if they were having a bad day but we certainly had a poor meal. I commented when paying the bill but got a smiley thank you and nothing more!Discovered today that the restaurant has new owners so really reviews from the oastyate irrelevant in my opinion.

Definitely recommend going here, we went whilst on our yearly visit to Torquay. Its the first time going since they changed their name from Cotton Eyed Joes. The food was still the same great food, we went early as we wanted to go when it was less busy. The burger was very tasty, the chips nice and crisp, and their customer service was spot on also. If youre in the area and like American themed restaurants, then definitely try this place out!

Went with friends last week. Not expecting too much. However the service was super and the food really good. Ribs and steak just perfect. Not into chips, wished Id gone for a salad with my ribs but didnt have that option. Tables could have been a little cleaner.

Good steak house. Steaks were cooked exactly to requests and service was good and friendly. Was able to book a table for a group of people with short notice and they were able to accommodate us. A good find.

Quite a while ago they removed the much loved Hog, surf and turf and we vowed not to return. Just by chance we had to change venue, so ended up here. WOW, what a difference! The menu was back in all its glory. The steak was AMAZING! Staff were great, chefs were rocking it. Honestly, best food Ive had in a while! Thank you everyone for an amazing meal tonight!

The restaurant looks the business from the outside with an American theme running throughout and some classic rock and pop tunes playing. We hadn’t booked and were lucky to get a table as it was busy. Menu looked good, but I was disappointed to be honest. I ordered the fillet steak, medium, but was done to rare. I also found it to be very expensive for what you got, no side salads or anything on the plate, the coleslaw and sauce were extra, it just didn’t look very appetising to be honest.

My Alcohol Cocktail was a bit weak, my chips were slightly undercooked (a bit raw in the centrebut my Fillet Steak was Sublime ( in fact all our party of 4 were happy!..One of those food memories you dont forget.

Amazing restaurant! We came here for my sons 12th birthday and they put balloons on our table for us.Food is amazing we had ribs, fillet steak, burgers. Puddings are gorgeous, my first time having key lime pie and it was delicious.Staff are really friendly and helpful and service is very quick.Fabulous cocktails.All reasonably priced.Cannot fault it and would definitely return.

Amazing food and fantastic service would absolutely recommend this place for steak lovers had the rump steak as unfortunately they were out of fillet but it was so good cannot fault a thing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So we were on a cheap caravan holiday (from Weymouthand found ourselves at Kents Cavern, and just Googled from there where was a local place to eat; so our encounter with Smoky Joes was completely off the cuff. Now I could tell you all about how wonderful the décor of this place is with its American themed artefacts, but I wont. I could also mentioned how friendly and accommodating all the staff were, but other reviews have that covered so I wont bring it up again. I could yammer on and on about how reasonably priced the menu was, but there is really only one thing I feel I NEED to base this review on: something which overshadows everything else. Now Im going to say this slowly, to try and highlight the impact and sheer gravity of the statement you are about to read. But please be assured I mean what I am about to write 100%, and as a 41 year old husky guy I really do have the experience to make a claim like this. Are you ready? Here goes. SMOKY. JOES. DOES. THE. BEST BURGER. I. HAVE. EVER. EVER. TASTED. And there it is, right there. I could try to convey with serious descriptive words just how incredible and life-changing this burger was, but I would simply not do it proper justice, so I shall simply say... WOW! In my four decades on this planet I have never encountered such an incredible piece of meat in a bun. It was just heavenly. I actually ordered a double burger, and as it was now too huge to get my mouth around, I removed one of the burgers from the bun and gave it my full attention on its own... and it blew my mind. Just... whoa, dude. I mean everything else was also great... a lovely atmosphere, decent jukebox music, lovely staff, everything looked so clean and well maintained... but the burger I had was out of this world and takes dominance in this review. Please see photos attached to attempt to demonstrate how juicy, succulent and downright awesome this thing was. It was a proper cathartic experience for me, and alongside my wedding and birth of my child, munching away on the Smoky Joe burger will forever remain one of my fondest memories. (All right, Im overdoing it a bit now, but you get the point.So glad I found this place by accident, and we will be coming back every time were are in Torquay from now on. Thankyou, Smoky Joes... you guys rock. Absolute burger perfection.

Nice food, nice atmosphere, good service, nice staff it I had to moan about absolutely anything and this is really knit picking I wish they left a slight gap between the starters and mains as it is literally 5 minutes then mains out which is efficient as anything but wouldve preferred a bit of a gap..will just be something I ask next time that all, definitely worth a visit foods lovely and consistent and staff friendly all rounder excellent

Came here while on a short break from London. The atmosphere and food were great. Such friendly and helpful staff made the experience all the more enjoyable.

Excellent food and service as usual, I can’t knock this place I have eaten here many times over the years and they never disappoint.

My partner and I went here for dinner tonight for the last night of our holiday and after our visit we highly recommend. The service was excellent (from ensuring we were OK to recommending cocktails the staff were fantastic), the food is fresh, delicious and great value for money (even though I couldnt finish my plate, the portions are hugeand the atmosphere was very welcoming and lively. Highly recommended for meat lovers and those with huge appetites.
