Smitty's in Nanaimo

We visited Smittys in Port Alberni, Comox and this one in Nanaimo and I ordered the fresh fruit from all three locations. This locations serving consisted of two slices of orange, one piece of pineapple, two small pieces of cantaloupe and wasnt fresh. The server did not hide the fact that she did not feel like serving another table. It was a disappointing experience and paled in comparison to the other locations overall.

Good homemade food, fish & chips were excellent, the fries were nicely crunchy and flavourful. Staff very friendly and attentive.

Amazing costumer experience! The hostess and waitress kyla is my favourite.

Food was good. Service was lacking a bit but we enjoyed the location very much. I had breakfast and my husband had pouting. Definitely would go again.

I ordered a tall grapefruit juice and you won’t believe what it came with. A REAL straw!! 5 stars for you Smitty’s.

Food portions are on the small side for those prices. Very laid back (but goodservice at a laid back location. Dont go if youre in a rush

Most disgusting steak sandwich I have ever had. It was half fat and raw. Plus it was so tough I couldnt chew it. What a disappointment even for Smittys.

Service was great but the food was average. If you get ham with your breakfast I noticed it was so thin it wasnt even worth adding it to your breakfast. It was your average breakfast but nothing to rave about.

My last Smittys visit was terrible and I was hesitant to try it again but wanted to make everyone happy with dinner that night. My son always likes fishNchips and the fish pieces were good size, and nice and meaty.My dish was very warm and tasted good with a good nice cold draft beer. This location, and I have to admit it surprised me. I will go again with my family.Staff were nice and polite.

A good basic restaurant. Breakfast served all day! Prompt service, lots of tables available. Convenient location. Lots of parking.

Well today was bad we ordered appetizer got our appy with our dinner and top it off husbands food was cold . staff all standing around doing nothing i have never seen smittys like this maybe just a staff of young ones today very unsatisfied today

I had the lunch special, chipotle chicken wrap and side salad. Both were fabulous!

Slowest service ever. The place is disgusting, if you are going to have fish on display then the tank should be clean. I made the mistake of looking up at the air vents and they were filthy beyond belief. Said we needed one more minute to make a decision waited 30 minutes for the waitress to come back. Considering how long we waited for the food it should have been hot when it arrived, needed to send the waitress fact for butter and milk and jam. The food was even colder by the time we got butter for the toast.

This was the best breakfast I have had in a while, the food was lovely and the service was fantastic. Besides the old woman that watched us eat the entire time it was wonderful.

30 minute wait for a take out order for a truck driver that delivers your items so that everyone else can enjoy their breakfast. Not cool, zero stars if it were an option.

Great place for family breakfast, bring grandkids as they love the fish tanks and the menu for them. Staff are very good, great service and very pleasant. Prices are reasonable as well.

My wife and I often get wings and drinks here. Tonight Anthony helped me get my order through right at closing time. Awesome customer service man, very accommodating, really appreciate it. Definitely recommend to family and friends.

Service was fine, food was terrible. Had the veal cutlet which was all of 1/4 inch thick and flavorless along side of the steamed vegetables which were small portion and flavorless also.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat while on the highway. 1pm Sunday lunch peak time. We were seated right away and the hostess offered us a beverages ☕ immediately. Breakfast or lunch menus were provided. They have a separate area designated as a lounge and open late on Friday nights till 9 p.m. Service is excellent.

Food was OK...service was fantastic.

I have been there twice. The service was excellent! Great menu. I had the nachos and there was lots on my plate. Second time I had the Philly Steak and cheese sub with soup. It was delicious and filling. All in all a great place for dinner or to sit and watch the game!

First experience sitting down in a restaurant since the pandemic started. They have amazing protocols in place! It started with names and phone numbers for contact tracing. Each booth has safety guards, are sanitized well, and have been spaced out from others. The staff were very friendly, and masked up. We had a delicious meal, and felt very safe! Always a pleasure going to Smittys!

Coffee and a burger, WOW!!! Great job, larger fries that all.

Breakfast and service were both abysmal. Our food took over 40 minutes to arrive and the eggs were over-cooked and luke warm, the sausages were under-cooked, rubbery and cold and the pancakes tasted like cardboard.The waitress never asked how the meal was and didnt even refill our coffees. The gentleman who we paid was apologetic, but it was too late then.1 star because I dont have the option of choosing zero.

Smittys was great! Food was quite good considering it is a chain. Kyle was an awesome server. The portions are large, but it just means breakfast for tomorrow!

This location is a hit or miss.I enjoy their breakfast menu and being seated near fish tanks when I do go. My favorite is the California bennie and the Denver omelet.Perhaps due to the new covid safety measures the last few times I have been here the service has been significantly slower than usual, I was in no particular rush so it didnt bother me too much but I wouldnt go here on a lunch break or if your on any kind of schedule.

Our server went above and beyond our expectations. We were seated by the fish tanks as expected. My roommate and I were there with his grand children who were misbehaving and would not listen. We had to get our meals to go. He even packed us our drinks to go because we had just received them and had barely had a chance to drink them. I would recommend anyone to go to Smittys for great service and great value for your money.

Friendly staff and quick service. I Ordered the New York steak and it had WAY too much steak seasoning and over cooked. I tried HP sauce on it too see if that would help with the flavor and it didnt so I made a complaint to the waitress she brought a new steak with season on this side. My boyfriend had the chipotle club wrap with a poutine and was satisfied with his meal. Gave four star review because of the salty steak but the service was awesome!

You know, its always salad lettuce which illustrates the care. Here? Excellent quality and nutrition! No heaps of useless iceberg lettuce. The food is phenomenal. Bathrooms always clean. And best of all? The staff. Always upbeat and friendly, no matter how busy it gets. And the fish tank. Always a winner. I love it here. The owners, management and front and kitchen should really be proud of themselves.

I had the basic breakfast and have no complaints. The portions were good, the shredded hashbrowns were not all in one clumps which was nice. The coffee wasnt spectacular, it was 3.25 and bottomless. My friend had the cheesecake pancakes with strawberries and it smelled and tasted heavenly.

First Visit: Okay wings but you better plan to waIt a long long time. Its a really small space so when theres also a family having dinner and drinking, its really loud since there are no partitions to buffer sound. Server doesnt offer water. I waited so long for dinner I felt unwell & had to cancel my order.Second Visit: Sometimes a place might be having a bad day so thought Id give it another shot. BAD IDEA! Tried this place again because of neighbour friends who like going to nearby restaurants & I guarantee its the last time Ill go here. Service & bad policy is the biggest problem. Food is nothing special so they need to up their service. All around negative experience.

Classic Breakfast spot, ample seating with attached bar. All the classic breakfast items at a somewhat expensive price. Good spot for kids with a full children’s menu, toys and a huge fish tank with lots of goldfish. Had they eggs benny, they were decent. Close to pharmacy, grocery store, restaurants and bank. Lots of parking. Clean environment and very friendly, helpful and fast service. 3 stars as it was not anything special for the price.
