Smitty's in Mount Pearl

Hardly anyone in restaurant. Waiting at table over 15 minutes, before we got up and left. No one was being served any food, we didnt even get asked what we wanted to drink. I wont be setting foot in there again. I dont have all day to wait for breakfast. If they were short staffed should have said so.

Out standing service you won’t be disappointed

Great service as always. Great food, and surprisingly great coffee! Most restaurants tend to have weak and tasteless coffee. Coming from a coffeeaholic, Smittys coffee was on point!

Had to wait 15 minutes but was worth the wait. Great food, lots of food and a good price.

The place was dirty. Floor was grimey and the fish tank was covered in hand prints. The food was poorly put together and my wife found a hair in her skillet. Will not be back.

Service was decent, food was meh and cleanliness/decor lacking. Fish tank in middle of restaurant was an eyesore and we were surprised fish were in there let alone alive. Hair in ketchup bottle etc. Disappointed but still left a tip

Bread used for sandwich was small, villagio size so a very short loaf. I was glad there was a large side of mashed to go with it as the sandwich wasnt nearly enough for a meal. Then I attempted to eat the mashed potato, I have never been so put off by a mash before. It was barely Luke warm dispite being on a plate nearly hot enough to burn you and it was crusted over on top as if it had been plated 3 hours prior and put in a cooler, the mash was lumpy, and flavorless and the gravy that was served with it was too think to get to mix in.Servers were lovely though and service was fast, the space was well cleaned. I have no intention on returning but others may enjoy it.

My wife and I went out to Smittys for dinner. I ordered a New York steak,mushrooms,onions and a caeser salad and a coffee. My wife ordered a Salisbury steak,french fries with gravy and a Pepsi. That was 5:50 pm. Our order arrived at the table 6: 45 pm, the steak was fine but no onion,no mushrooms and no caeser salad only fries. My wifes order was fine except the Pepsi was diet Pepsi. I asked the waitress about the mushrooms,onions and the Caesar salad.She said she would get it, she never came back.When she did come back a half hour later and no salad or mushrooms or onions,she took the order off our bill.The waitress blamed it on the kitchen staff even though she was the one who took the order.Not going back to Smittys,there are other restaurants in St Johns. Not at all pleased with the service.From the response of other customers were also upset with service.

Great food, good portion size but a bit on the pricey end for breakfast

They had a local Newfoundland menu here so we sampled local breakfast items including black pudding.

Food was delicious, but pretty expensive for the small portions.

Food was good as usual but the place needs little face lift its starting to show its age....and sometimes old looks dirty.....servers were excellent.

Ashley gave us excellent service, she was informative and knowledgeable tending to our orders, and with a smile!

We go to smittys for every family occasion. It never disappoints. Great food great service . Waitress is always pleasant and happy. Fish and chips are deadly.

The food here is good, everything is clean, and the staff is really friendly! I did however notice when I was there that is was SUPER busy and the employees were working really hard to keep things running smoothly. Then who I assume the owner is, came in and didnt even acknowledge his staff, completely ignored them, and started "helping" them. He was bossing people around, seating people down at dirty tables, and just confusing the staff to a point where I saw a lot of them getting visibly frustrated at him. The restaurant is nice and the food tastes great, yet I just have trouble supporting a restaurant or the owner has no respect for his staff or customers.

A lovely family restaurant with great prices and very good food.I ordered the strip loin steak and it was very tasty.The service was great and food was served in great time.

Ordered from SkipTheDishes. Order had multiple items missing. Called the restaurant and was told to contact Skip, as if to say it wasn’t the restaurant’s wrong-doing for not completing our order….

Very disappointed today,only one server working,took our order and had to wait a long time to be served,had to wait longer for pancakes and toast even longer for coffee refill. As you can see by picture it was burnt to a crisp by the warmer. Not very many in the restaurant but quite a few in the group room who wanted to get checked out while we were waiting for our meal. The server was great ,management lacking to have only one on duty. We were given a reduction in our bill. First poor experience with smittys.

We had a very nice brunch. I like the Newfoundland options on the menu. I had the eggs benedict on fish cakes and it was delicious. Our server was very attentive and servce was excellent.I wanted to try the cinnamon swirl pancakes with cream cheese drizzle, but it just looked too decadent! Maybe Ill go with a friend some time and we can share it like a dessert with coffee :)

I gave it 1 star but I wish that I could give it no stars. We waited 40 minutes for our meal which never came and our waitress who disappeared. After 25 minutes she offered to refill our coffee but never did. We got the attention of another waitress who said that they were filling a big order. While they had several tables waiting for food. We paid 7$ for 2 coffee. Most expensive coffee Ive had in a while. Definitely no recommendation from myself or my friend. We left without any staff member apologizing for our wait.

The only reason I gave it ONE star was because I couldnt give it a negative number of stars. The Mount Pearl restaurant this evening only had a few customers when we showed up. We were quick to place our orders. After our first 40 minutes of waiting, the waitress returned and asked if we wanted another coffee while we waited. There was no explanation why we had been waiting 40 minutes already. She departed and we never saw her again. I dont know if she had to travel to Columbia to get the coffee beans for our coffee. With both of us ordering clubhouse sandwiches I figure they had to kill the turkeys to make the sandwiches. Ten minutes later, we asked a passing waitress where our clubhouses were. She disappeared and since we had an appointment which we had to attend, we proceeded to the cash to pay for our one coffee each that we had ,which was the same price as four coffees at Tims. We left the restaurant with NOT AS MUCH AS AN APOLOGY. I sure hope the rodents in the dumpster out there enjoy a couple of clubhouse sandwiches tonight. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE

CHECK YOUR ORDER CONTENTS IF MAKING A PICKUP. I picked up lunch for the office—contents were missing. I called in and was told to get a refund, and I would have to drive back. I went back to Smittys, and I was fully refunded the $2.29 for the missing item. $2.29. Let that sink in. I spent more on gas to pick up my order and then drive back because they made a mistake. I will never go here again. And I will tell everyone else to go somewhere different as well.

Its a lovely place to go to eat. They got good food and lovely staff.

Food was definitely out of a grocery store box and the soft drink was flat, place looks out dated and the only thing stopping me from giving two stars was the customer service was good.

My sisters breakfast grill was burnt badly (she got full refundand my Jigs Dinner was way too salty (I was charged for 1/2 the cost even though I only had 1 carrot and 1 piece of potato. It was really bad.

Went with my daughter, her hubby and my grandkids to Smittys for breakfast on my last day in Newfoundland. I was really looking forward to spending/sharing some last special time with my family. The waitress was pleasant and very attentive and our order arrived in a timely manner. Unfortunately that was the end of what should have been a yummy breakfast. My daughter ordered the regular two egg and bacon breakfast with hashbrowns with white toast. There was about two tablespoons of extra crispy shredded hashbrowns on the plate which were impossible to chew never mind requiring a magnifying glass to find them on the plate. Her eggs were rubbery. In other words inedible. My daughter returned her meal and the waitress was great about refunding the cost of that meal. I ordered the special which was a grilled cheese and back bacon sandwich that I made the mistake of ordering the shredded hashbrowns as well. A repeat of two bite crispy critters. DISGUSTING AND CHEAP MINISCULE AMOUNT FOR WHAT THE MEAL COST. My one grandson enjoyed his cinnamon swirl pancakes. The other one hated his grilled cheese and back bacon stating that the meat was hard to chew. Overall the meals were a real disappointment. Wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anybody. They could also use an interior overhaul. The decor was very old, worn and dreary.

The service was fast. Staff seated us quickly and all the social distance rules were followed and they were polite, and very friendly. The food came to our table much faster than expected! They were busy, so respect to the staff and management. The food was fresh and delicious. Great value and would certainly go back. 5/5

Have eaten here numerous times over the past few years, never disappointed. Today was the first time there since covid came in, im totally impressed with thier protocols for keeping thier staff and customers safe. Also the food was deadly ;)

Normally a go to when we want a bite before Saturday shopping. Todays experience was very disappointing. We both had the up and at em special. Mine was very bland but hubbys hashbrowns tasted like their fish cakes. Not very palatable with hollandaise sauce on it. The hollandaise was comparable with thick pudding. The eggs were overcooked with no seasoning. The bacon was hard. The Villagio toast was dry. Our server checked on us while walking by the table. Then when we were paying, the Manager/Owner handed the machine to us and left. He was more concerned with seating other customers. Very disappointed.

Not a good experience at all, was seated quickly and got our drinks quickly from the waitress in training, however she couldnt take a food order so she mentioned another waitress would be over. After 35 minutes with no order taken we left, multiple other staff looked at us and didnt ask. I went to the counter to pay for the tea I had and I had a lady ask if I was taken care of, I mentioned I was paying for my bill. She looked at me, said nothing and walked away. Not a great experience, we went left and went somewhere else for breakfast and wont be returning.

Went on a Friday and ordered 2 ribs and wings. There were no ribs so opted for classic burger and jigs dinner with turkey. Burger was good, jigs was terrible (not fresh and turkey was nasty). Very disappointed and wont be going back anytime soon. Ribs are served with many of the menu items but when you dont have them to serve the menu ends up much shorter. On the bright side the server was great and service was fast.

Just went into smittys for breakfast and was Sent to an empty room where no tables were set. The room was dirty. I understand the social distilling thing but this treatment was unacceptable. A server came in the room walked past us didnt acknowledged us and walked out of the room again. I will not returning, nothing was done and that too is up acceptable. I always loved going there for breakfast but the treatment was not called for. I wouldnt and will not go there again

We were there this morning for breakfast. Our server, Sophie was amazing. All full of smiles, interacted with us, made sure we had all we needed. Plus the food was awesome. Keep up the wonderful work, Sophie. You’re one in a million.

This place was good. Our waitress was very friendly. The food was fine. No complaints. I did like how they had some regional specific dishes. The had a different menu than I see back in Manitoba.

Terrible experience! Visited yesterday morning for breakfast, with family. While drinking my coffee, something touched my mouth; it was a long piece of hard, clear plastic, similar to processed meat packaging. A passing waitress was informed of this. She looked at my granddaughters and said, its probably just a crayon wrapper. I was shocked by the response! There was no apology, no concern whatsoever. To say I was disgusted with the whole experience would be an understatement. The meal was mediocre. Would definitely NOT RECOMMEND.

Decent food but they charge for anything they can, so beware of asking for so much as an extra pickle. That was a lovely surprise when my table got the bill. The service was good. Wish that they would clean the fish tank in middle of the place, the water is green and everything is caked in algae so its actually super unappetizing. Probably wouldnt come back if it wasnt the only place to get brunch on a weekday.

Good location with decent food. Our server was friendly and helpful with our order. The bathroom location was clean. There was some construction occuring out front when we visited, but it was not a detraction from the inside decore.The menu has a wide variety of meals from all-day breakfast to supper. They have a number of incentives for repeat customers. I would happily return for another meal.

The service was good, the food......these shredded hash browns were only cooked on one side. The only way to tell the ham was ham, was it was very salty.

Worst lunch EVER! As a tourist, horrible experience.For the first time of my life, I leave the place without notice. 10 min inline before getting a table at lunch time... okMore than 45min before making JUST an eye contact with a waitress, not acceptable! They just totally forgot that we were there waiting at the table. So we never receive our plates and went to another restaurant next door.

Was here a couple of days ago with my little girl and a couple of friends. Service was fast and great overall. My food was amazing. The bathrooms were also very clean which is a huge plus in my books. I would reccomend it to anyone who likes to go for breakfast or brunch :)

Had a burger platter with poutine, burger was okay, the poutine however was served cold. our server was fine, she did her job but was not very friendly. My previous experiences here have been better, i am a big fan of their breakfast skillets.

Im not a fan of this place. I find its really overpriced for what you get. The burgers are definitely store bought patties from frozen. There is absolutely nothing special about this place for what you pay! You can get a Sunday jigs here, something not offered everywhere, but I havent tried it to recommend it!
