Slovak Pub - Restaurant in Bratislava, Slovakia
Very Rude customer service by 1 waitress serving in the most inner part of this restaurant. My pregnant wife choose a table to sit where she felt comfortable on a specific type of broad chair (furniture is really old and shakyand the table cloth was not clean I asked politely to the waitress (she came to take order after 20 minsto clean the table but she replied rudely that the other 2 tables were clean why did we chose this one, then she took the table cloth and dumped it on another table in anger and changed the cloth on ours. Later she didn’t speak to us and another waiter started serving us he was nice and polite. They also have this frame at the entrance of the restaurant which says “Take a seat where ever you prefer” and we did the same. (See attached picturealso the food was average as I have had much better garlic soup and goulash soup in another Slovak restaurants. We are very dissatisfied and disappointed.
Famous and legendary pub in Bratislava. Really big place so and great to taste halušky - probably best in Bratislava. And if you think you can eat a lot, try cream garlic soup in bread. Absolutely stunning combination. Prices are a bit higher, but understandable for this popular pub / restaurant.
Absolutely loved this place! Went twice during our visit. Had the halušky (creamy sheep cheese potato/ pirohy (pierogi-like dumplingplatter. Great if you want to try a few traditional Slovak dishes. The creamy garlic soup in a bread bowl is really good too. Most of their ingredients come from their own bio farm. Their lager beer is excellent. Stupendous service and cool ambiance in a cozy old school environment.
Super duper good Slovakian food. It’s my first time here and I love the food.We got the two person plater which I highly suggest if u wanna try different foods.I’m gonna go home and make the same things.
We went there based on the number or reviews and good rating. As some other people mentioned, service was a bit long and waiter not always present. On the other side the food was amazing and cheap. The main dish really reminded me of my grand-mother cooking and I loved that! Soup was a bit cold but still fine. Dont except a super clean place, this is a pub with cheap/good beers! Worth a visit for sure!
Yum! Highly recommended the platter for 2 so you can try a taste of traditional solvak dishes! And the cabbage and sausage soup was one of the best soups Ive had here!
Things started well here for dinner.Service was good, friendly. The bean soup was delicious, very flavoursome. We ordered goulash for our mains and unfortunately arrived very cold. The waiter was great, and apologetic… they did heat it up but at this stage I was worried by the food safety which dampened the experience. The 3* is for the soup and the service, was such a shame about the mains.
Great local food at good prices. The garlic soup and potato dumplings were both really good. Definitely worth eating here.
If you want to try traditional Slovak cuisine - this is your place! Authentic atmosphere, friendly staff, decent prices... and huge amounts of delicious food! Theres a smoking and non-smoking garden for everyone to enjoy as well. Highly recommended!
Went to Bratislava for the weekend and wanted to try good local food and found this pub. We loved the food quality, service, good prices and we returned 3 times in 24h 🤭 so yeah we loved it and we highly recommend it. Strawberry dumplings are a must try 🥹
The place is good, it is full, because it is a tourist attraction of some sort. The food is good, tasty and they have local Slovak dishes, which are super. Beer is good. The service is good, out waiter spoke perfect English and make us some really good recommendations. As an advise - dont go there near the closing time. Because the place is famous they have a lot of people and the staff will be exhausted. Make a reservation, for a good dinner hours - 7/8 o clock and you will not regret it.The food was slow to be delivered, but I think it was because of the late hour, when we arrive. But again - it was well worth it!
A great place to taste slovak cuisine. It is a bit hidden and out of the way but the prices are low, the quantity is huge and the quality is excellent. Totally worth it!!!
Very unique decor. Food was good but very rich in flavor (too much salt, etc.). The main reason I don’t rate it more favorable was the wait. We were there over 2 hours waiting for our food and for basic service.
Ive come here let by reviews. Although the atmosphere is nice, prices are affordable, and the food was tasty, I cant say the same about the service. The service was slow (the waiters took longer to come then the actual food). Also, Ive ordered a started and a main dish and both came at the same time. I am not sure if it was a misunderstanding with the waitress as she seemed to only speak basic English, but I thought it was common knowledge in any restaurant that dishes are brought separately (I was alone, so the couldnt have been any mistake).I think this is a good place to try some local food in a nice atmosphere, but expect a lot from the service.I rate it 3 stars because it is not only how good the food is, the experience itself is also important.
Touristic place, but deffo worth it!Portions are huuuuge and delicious. Try their home-made beer!
Not great not terrible. The service was average and the food took a bit long to be ready for 2 persons (~50 minutes). The waitress did not check on us and she was not able to offer us recommendations on the menu. The food was decent, tasty ribs and nutella dumplings.
Slovak pub is a huge place with multiple spaces to sit. But we were too lazy to look around & werent aware of how large it was, so we chose the first table we saw, which wasnt the best looking spot.Food & staff were nice. The plate for 2 is very fatty, dont get it if youre not an ambitious eater. Halusky is really creamy, as in it would make you full after 3 bites ...Kofola (communist Coke LOLtastes really good. Creamy garlic soup inside the bread is also good.
I went there alone for lunch. The food was great. Traditional Slovak but they have other options. The waitress spoke great English and she was very smiley with everyone. I felt welcomed. Also the terrace is pretty cool!I definitely recommend and will go again!I had Halusky and traditional cabbage soup!
Came over at the recommendation of our guide, Matej, and we were not disappointed. Great looking place with several traditionally decorated rooms paying homage to the history of the country. Quick and friendly service and delicious hearty food. Great soups!!! If only I could eat more. All reasonably priced. To top it off, they brew their own beer. Cheers!
Old fashioned interior, traditional music, amazing traditional atmosphere! Food is very tasty, you travel back in time! The place you must visit in Bratislava!
Very nice experience. Food and beer was traditional and tasty. Service was excellent and english speaking. Recommended.
Lovely place.Very good service. Fast kitchen, there was no lag in serving dishes.Menu is tourist oriented but has nice selection of traditional slovak dishes.House beer is very good.
The staff is nice and the environment is good but the food is not recommended. 🥲 Sorry, the dumplings are not yummy. It just sucks. I can’t really taste the strawberries. Also, it is different from the photo on their menu which they don’t have the real strawberry on top of the dish. Maybe my expectations towards these dumplings is too high.
This is the place to come, although its filled with tourists, its the best memory I have of Bratislava, each room has a story to tell which you can read about on the menu. Typical food and very tasty. Try the platter of three different delicacies. I eat a lot and I couldnt finish the big portions here!
Amazing!! Lived up to the name. The food and the presentation were amazing. The staff were extra sweet. We went there with our 10 month old son who had a miserable day with tonsillitis and hospital visit. He was pretty tired too. But the staff saw him dull and gave him a small car toy to cheer him up. He was super happy and played with the whole evening. Forever grateful for the kind gesture!
Cool looking place with locals and tourists. The board with 3 traditional dishes was excellent and not to much expensive, if you compare how much food its on it. The homemade craft beer was also great.
Visited during a short visit in Bratislava. The main dish tasted well. A chicken soup - not really. Was waiting time short? Not really. Was Service super friendly? Not really, too :)
We went there to have lunch. The place was a bit crowded but we managed to get a table. The food was good and the prices were okay.
Delicious!!!! Such an awesome place! Lovely staff, fast service and the food was soo yummy! Must visit when in Bratislava! ♥️
I consider it a must go for tourists. The location is quite central and you can try local beer and food (with several vegetarian options).I recommend the Slovak Platter to taste three Slovak specialties. The garlic soup is also delicious (served inside bread).
I was blown away by how good the food is. The garlic soup is wonderful, and the variety platter for two gives a great selection of traditional Slovak cuisine.
Wow, this place was recommended by our tour guide and it was really yummy! Definitely go here to enjoy some traditional Slovakian food!
Authentic slovak food served here all year long. Kofola and creamy garlic soup in bread are must haves!
Amazing Slovak food. The creamy garlic soup was delicious, the beef goulash was yummy and the kofola is very refreshing.
Great traditional food. The stuff is very friendly and kind. If the weather is good then prefer to dine outside. Its really nice.
So yummy food. Prices are also ok. Friendly personal. Hope to come soon back
Food are really good that I’m impressed by Slovak food. Ambience is cute that they play traditional songs. Minus two stars for the slow service. Got in with people at other table and ordered at same time. 40min later they ready ate and left. I haven’t received my starter. I asked for cancelation and staff said food is coming. Another 10min later my cold starter and hot main course came together. That’s very very annoying. I haven’t tried any other restaurant in Bratislava so I can’t compare. I believe it’s a great place to eat. If you are not rushing and you can wait for your food up to 1hour.
Fast service. The platter for two (18.50euro nowmay not be for everyone’s taste but its still a good experience to try! More than enough for two.
Definitely a place worth visiting! Make sure to leave a tip as its not included in the price.Good quality authentic Slovak food with great price to quality and quantity ratio, friendly staff and extremely fast food serving. Unique wooden interior design depicting various parts of history which overlaps with Hungarian sometimes.
Good food, good beer, good atmosphere and excellent service. Relaxed and friendly place. I went there 3 times in 2 days! Just love it.
Very good restaurant for a fair price. The food, service and atmosphere are all very nice. If you want to have the real Slovak food experience this is the place to go. I can highly recommend the Slovak food platter as you then try out 3 authentic dishes at ones!
I went when restaurant was rather quiet. I liked that the music played is a folk Slovak, but which adds to nice ambience and vintage interior.Food is freshly made and tasty. Garlic soup in bread is a must try. Their traditional potato noodles are also worth trying. Try option without bacon cause it’s very heavy with it. Their local brewery beer is definitely nice!I am takin one star away for the service delay. I got served second dish nearly 40min after the soup despite the venue being rather empty. Good I had the beer.
We went for lunch. It was a nice, cozy place. We ordered the fried cheese, potato perogies with meat and the chicken steak with ratatouille. Everything was very good. The service was also good. Would definitely eat here again.
This pub is on every “to do list” in Bratislava so we checked it out. Really traditional authentic setting, and the same goes for the food. The deep earthy flavours were too much for this Irish man and his Spanish partner, but I’m sure locals love it and it’s of a high quality. They serve large Steiners of local beer, which is awesome. But, some of the staff could have been friendlier and more welcoming on this day. Try it out for yourself and see, but be warned that the servings are huge and the flavours will stay in your mouth for many hours later!
One of the best restaurants you can visit in Bratislava. Exceptional traditional dishes in affordable prices. The whole place travels you in the past. Very nice wooden floor and very polite personnel
The waitress had an amazing English and was able to help in everything. The menu was big, from traditional slovakian cuisines to vegetarian food, there was everything. The prices were okay for the good quality of the meal. They had a home-made beer which was fantastic. The pub was lively and had a nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend!
Proper pub with a traditional menu. Prices are all good and the food is cracking it is easy to see why this place has such a high review score. We ordered wayyyy too much food as we were too hungry when we arrived. Be cautious as the portions are very good.Try the potato dumplings of the beef goulash you truly wont be disappointed. All in for us with a sharing platter and two other mains (I did say we had ordered too mucha glass of good red wine and a 1lt jug (2 pintsof beer came to about £35
Visited here early on this week with my girlfriend, I’m from Slovakia and she is English, and I couldn’t find a better establishment in Bratislava to introduce her to Slovak cuisine, atmosphere was great, caring staff, that speak good English, and of course, brilliant food.Definitely recommend to anyone after some authenticity in Slovakia. Thanks guys!
Wow I loved this place! I was recommended the halusky and it was very unique and good. The whole menu is traditional Slovakian food and they even have excerpts in there about how the food is made and their farm that is north if the city. It’s decorated nicely and has fair prices! Definitely recommend.
Great pub and restaurant a short walk from the old town offering well priced beers and traditional Slovak cuisine. We sat on the terrace which was lovely as it was a warm, sunny day.Loved the Garlic soup and the dumplings we ordered - was really tasty.Would highly recommend and is a must visit place to eat on your visit to the city.
