Skyline Super Buffet in Harrisonburg

At at this location on 2 dinner occasions about 4 to 5 years back when it was Areroma Buffet with a mixture of western and asian food. I remember there being few diners at dinner hour on a weekend. The restaurant was attractive and service was more than acceptable but some of the offerings werent very popular. The grill station was appealing but didnt rate it as good as Golden Corral. The dessert selection didnt offer the selection of a Golden Corral but neither did the bakery corner. Was not surprise to learn they had closed when I visited Harrisonburg in April 2018., but was even less shocked with closing of Shoneys since their buffets were subpar and their a la carte prices were high with no complete meals. Cant understand how restauranteurs believe they can surviving serving poor value.

Staff is great, place is clean, but food is not worth the Saturday prices. Not sure if it was just because it was getting late (8:30pmand because customers were so few, but food seemed stale and overcooked. Felt like we showed up late to a party and got the leftovers that had been sitting out all night.

Food really isnt good. Ice cream has a very strange flavor and consistency. Desserts always dried out. Sushi is never replaced. Salad bar is... Questionable. First impression of a fish tank filled with large koi that is so dirty and murky, you cant see the fish themselves is a pretty good sum up of the restaurant as a whole.

Clean restaurant and bathroom, something hard to find in a Chinese buffet. Sushi and hibachi available. Fresh food. Tasty. Affordable prices for the variety of the food offered. Friendly waitress.

I went here earlier today and was not satisfied at all. The steak and bbq chicken were so dry and flavorless that I could hardly stand to finish it. The general tso chicken was decent but it was worse than everywhere else I have eaten it. The noodles were very cold and had barely any flavor at all. The fries where the only things I liked there. They didnt have much selection either. I immediately wanted to leave as soon as i started eating but it was too late. The only reason Im eating this 2 stars is because the staff was friendly, they also gave me a receipt that recommended I give them a $7.00 tip but when I did the math $7.00 was like 30% of my entire purchase (i ate with a friend" so idk why they recommended that.

The staff are very pleasant and personable! If this review were just about staff, i would be rating higher.The food is good, but it is a buffet, so things end up sitting out for a bit. Which is what youre expecting when you go to a buffet. Its not bad by any means. Just average. Which is reflected by the price.That does bring me to another note, though. The price is highly affordable! They have a lunch special for $7.85! As a struggling post grad, I much appreciate this.Its a great place for a very casual eating experience.

We went to Skyline today and i had a horrible experience. The food was just awful. Some of the food tasted like it had been up all day. It was hard to find anything the least bit edible. This will definitely be my last time visiting this place.

We went for late lunch at three and the food was not up to par .they put out crab legs and crawdads and told use they would charge for dinner price if my son ate them so we left a full plate of food .I have never had that happen to me, The scollops were imitation fish and dry .would not go back if they were buying .

Its a buffet. The food is mediocre but pretty great for the price. The staff were very friendly and nice and they were very prompt at helping you with anything. The atmosphere was very nice and the tables and dining areas were very clean and tidy.

I would give it a 0 put I cant all the chicken and fries and things like that were hard the ice cream was basicly water when it came out of the machine and the macaroni tasted like water. The soda was also flat. I eould never recommend going there it was nasty and will not be returning

Our server was wonderful and friendly , but the food was extremely hard dried out from heat lamps the macaroni and cheese was dehydrated and stuck to the pan so they put in water. There was vomit in the floor of the men’s bathroom. The cottage cheese was straight up spoiled .

Good clean places to eat food is good service is good. Lots of things to choose from. Lots of low calorie choices. i would go back with my family every weekend if i was able to

Good food for such a cheap place! I excepted less but I got the best food ever! 10/10 would recommend

We arrived an hour before closing and were told upon entering that th y were closing. The staff was already cleaning up the restaurant. Several of the buffet options were lukewarm but still tasty.

Food all tasted the same, not much flavor. Vanilla Ice cream tasted spoiled. Staff was nice but had a hard time getting our waitress to understand what drinks we wanted. She did her best but the language barrier made it difficult.

The restuarant itself looked nice inside and the staff were nice. However our waitress was not very attentive and the food was no fresh, many entrees were missing on the buffet and the food that was there wasnt that fresh. Over all the flavor was generic at best and their "special of the day spicy chicken" tasted like fish which was suspicious. It wasnt that expensive which was the only good thing about the experience.

I always enjoyed one of those restaurant the food was good service was great but today changed my mind in regards to this restaurant found a black hair in my food how do I dress Lakers told management management told me that they offered 10% off of my meal which would have been $0.89 which I didnt care about the money the fact of the matter was they didnt remove the dish that had the hair in it off the bar food was cold and nasty by the way I will never return to this restaurant

2 times in a row the sushi tasted like fish. And the chicken on a stick smelled and tasted like some sort of fuel. I told the waitress it was not good. She said thank you and walked away. Now I understand the language barrier so I give her credit for positivity! Thats the only reason I gave the 2nd star!

I used to like this place. But today the food was not so much. And they got an angry looking woman who looks over your shoulder whenever you grab something from the buffet. And when I got my bill it was 23$ so I gave them my card and they brought me a different bill that’s 30$. Yea, I’m never going back again

Quicky seated even though they were busy. Waitress was very attentive to our needs. Restaurant has a beautiful koi fish tank, a lighted bush and different accessories including gorgeous china. Food was hot and fresh. Variety on their buffet included Chinese and American. Japanese sushi bar also located against the back wall. There is something here for everyone. This is definitely the place to go when you are looking for more than one type of cuisine. Highly recommended.

Wow, what can I say.... Nicole and I stopped for lunch in Harrisonburg VA. I’ve eaten at this place before, and it’s been great, but it’s out of this world now. I guess it changed names/owners(maybe)... the food is incredible... but the service is unbelievable.. when we walked in we were treated by a super friendly face that appeared to be the owner/manager. I asked if they could make “rice free sushi” (I know, it’s a tragedy, but we are on Keto).. he says, “what do you mean” I showed him a picture he said no problem. He walked back to the sushi bar, put on gloves and made it himself and brought it to us! Awesome!! AAA ++++ Skyline Super Buffet

Very good buffet. The selection was nice and the server was very good and friendly. He gave my 3 year old a quarter for the toy machine because he was crying. I wish I had more cash on me to tip him. He was very cool.

If u could leave a 0 I wood. This food was the worst I have never eaten. My husband, son and I got our drinks and a plate took 1 bite and called the waiter. Told the waiter we didnt like the food and they charged us $30.00 when we ate nothing! I was sick with these people and place!!! Please boycott this place!!!!

Best exp weve had here yet. Sean was a great server. Took great care of my family. Gave us complimentary hot tea because it was cold out. Great experience.

My husband and i were not impressed with this restaurant at all. The food was cold and with dealing with food they are setting themselves up for a good lawsuit. We told the waitress and they turned up the stem tables. This should have been done before opening. First and last time eating at this place. No i would not recommend this restaurant unless you want food poisoning.

Food was ok . Alot of almost empty pans with dried food in them. Could have stocked them better when they ran out . If you are look for a cheap ok meal with alot of choices this is the place. But if you want good Chinese food dont go to this buffet.

Great place for lunch, cheap, good assortment of food, hibachi was a great bonus, soft serve ice cream for dessert. The only thing I didnt like is the taste of the crab rangoon. It was dry and didnt taste right but thats just my preference on food. Waitress was kind and diligent with the removal of dirty plates.

This restaurant has changed it’s name at least 3 times since opening. Whenever it fails so many food safety inspections it is shut down, ownership remodels and opens under a different name (on average, every 5 years or so). If you value your digestive tract, refrain from frequenting this establishment.

Old spoiled food, ROACHES, Nasty manager!!This restaurant has spoiled sushi! They are not following Servsafe regulations. When the 12 year old kid came to wait on us I had no words. Finally, I asked to speak to someone about the sushi and a very young man maybe 18 came over in dirty jeans and I tried to tell him about the sushi when a roach crawled across our used plates IN THE DAY LIGHT. My child screamed because is was moving fastly toward her and he slammed his hand down and smashed it on the table we were eating on and said some very Inappropriate things.

Food was very dry to begin with, there were one or two pieces of chicken laying and they did not attempt to add new chicken, I requested a fresh set of dish but they did not do much to add some fresh food, i dont see myself ever coming back here again. Food is below average for the price it is not worth the value of the food.

Lady working the counter can not speak fluent English, when asked several times of the take out pricing she made up a false number which was not accurate after filling up take out box and going to check it.It cost almost double what she had told my wife and I.

Food was old and dry . only took 2 bites told server i was unhappy . owner still charged us full price. Dont waste your time!!!! Go next door to vinnys and have a great meal

Im not a fan. We went at lunch time and the food was gross. It had clearly been sitting out for a while and was not good. None of the food tasted fresh at all and some items had a film on them from sitting out. I am also not impressed by the staff. Our waitress only checked on us when she brought the check. It certainly was not with $25 for the two of us. Needless to say, I will not be going back.

This place is noticeably very clean and well cared for. Ownership and staff clearly care about this restaurant. The food was tasty, there was a huge assortment and everything was well presented. I was really impressed with this buffet!

Who is doing the cooking here?? Maybe they should try the food before putting it out. I tried repeatedly to find something that tasted close to acceptable, but sadly came up short every time. I hate giving a bad review but I hope to save someone else from an experience like mine. Dont waste your time or money going to this place!

Had a few previous bad experiences with this places but figured try it one more time. An for a Saturday night at 7 oclock it was a massive let down. There was only about 15 pieces of sushi left and they were dried out. The rest of the food was average at best. Needless to say I wouldnt recommend this place.

My 5 year old daughter found a roach in her food.... I heard of different places that possibly had roaches, never seen it anywhere for myself. My whole family and I literally showed the people and got up and walked out! I will absolutely never go back in this place, if I could give 0 stars I would..... THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING

Frog legs great! BBQ ribs were good and moist. So many buffets are dry. Green beans really good. Mushrooms good, also fresh. Ice cream set up was a mess! I would have been a WHOLE LOT happier if food labels were correct, or at least the labeled item name would be on the same table, so i knew what they were offering. Some dishes had no labels. Scollops had no taste. Water is fresh tasting. Oh yeah, NO WON TON SOUP...whats up with that?

Food is average. Service is great (one of the best in town). Hit or miss on the food. The Mac and cheese was watery. Sushi selection is good sometimes and bad others; I went a trip without getting sushi even though thats why I came here. The soft serve ice cream is water. No ice cream cones. Dessert selection is bad- just a bunch of premade yuck. Who runs this place!? :/

Lots of choices and friendly staff! I have to say is one of the better buffets. Love it. Food freshness and quality + variety A+.

This is the worst chinese buffet I ever been to. Was in here with a friend of JMU, and the food is nasty. Most of the foods are dry and cold, and Im afraid to get food poison from this buffet. Be caution and stay away from old traditional buffet. The server is friendly and nice, but I would not go back due to the good quality.

Great variety of dishes including veggies and fresh fruit. Grilled green beans & asparagus were tasty. My granddaughter enjoyed the​ sushi!

This place has really declined since changing hands. We used to eat at Aroma all the time and really tried to give Skyline a shot, but the food has gotten worse and worse each time. We definitely wont be going back.Our last visit consisted of inedible food that had been sitting out way too long. All of the meats and fish were too tough to chew (the fish were sitting, rock hard, on the heat tables so we didnt bother tasting). The sushi had been out so long, the rice was crusty and rolls fell apart. Our waitress abandoned us for 20 minutes AFTER wed finished trying to eat and had long had an empty table (another waitress actually cleared our plates), we walked to the counter to try to pay/complain. She then materialized and brought our check to the counter. No apologies.Dont bother going here if you liked Aroma.

Watery mashed potatoes food tasted horrible sat down and couldnt even eat a whole plate tea was warm ,the ribs were so tough you couldnt pull the meat from the bones with a fork and a free hand! , the shrimp was tough and mealy .so we got up to leave and cimplained to the mgr. and then she tryed to accuse us of not wanting to pay . Ended up paying for aklids meal and a drink $6 and change..... lesson learned !! NEVER AGAIN!!

The food was horrible I normally eat Lo mein but it was to grease and was cold the duck was over cooked there was no sense in the price for nasty food I wouldnt dare go back I wish aromas was back and I had to wait 15mins for a Peice of steak that was done sitting on the grill then they put it back on the grill it was so hard to even chew it is rather try to eat a boot if you want good food at this price go to wood grill or golden corral

The American food is pretty good. All the Chinese food taste the same. The Sushi is good. They also have a really nice salad bar. The staff is also very friendly.

Cold bland food. Fried catfish was raw and mushy inside. Watery mashed potatoes and gravy. This was my first and last visit. I told the waitress about the raw food as well as the cashier and was not even offered a discount.

I go here a great deal, the staff is always friendly and they have the best catfish in the valley.Also the lunch special is only $7.50 for all you can eat! Cant beat that.

I cant comment on the food because I never actually went here. My friend called to find out what type of food they had on the buffet and all we could find out was "international food". The person on the phone (apparently the managerwouldnt specify what they were serving. Upon calling back, they hung up almost immediately. After a third call they still wouldnt reveal their secret menu and asked us to stop bothering them. So we did.

My Carriage Driving Club meets in one of the private rooms when the weather does not permit us to drive our horses. This is our favorite place as we have a nice room, privacy, a TV, and everyone gets their own choice of food quickly. The owner is usually on site to make sure everyone is efficiently taken care of with good service. It is clean and the food choice is plentiful.
