Magere Brug, 1018 EG Amsterdam, Netherlands, Amsterdam
A popular historic site, this narrow bridge for pedestrians & cyclists is illuminated at night.
Beautiful bridge. Especially seen from the canal and even more, by night.
Beautiful at night all lit up
Cute bridge in Amsterdam. Well worth a visit if you are here
Its a bridge. It helps you get across the Amstel River. Sometimes the middle goes up... so boats can go through. Other than that its a handy thoroughfare for pedestrians and cyclists. If youre a pedestrian please stick the right hand side and dont block the bridge to take photos. If youre in a tour group please be considerate about other users. Honestly... I not sure why Google Maps prompted me to write a review about a bridge. So weird.
Slimmest footbridge which opens in the middle for tall barges boats to come through. Has a tiny hotel room attached, we came under it on one of the canal cruises
I visited there on Gay Pride day and it was full of vibrant and energetic folks around.
Kiss under this beautiful bridge for your love to last forever. Haha how romantic. Looks gorgeous while cruising on Amstel
ride your bike across or float on a boat underneath. bonus points if you kiss your partner while floating under the bridge. 🥰
Had a great time with the family in Amsterdam! If you have time schedule a free walking tour and the tour guide will fill you in on the history highlights.
Lovely bridge across the Amstel River, proposed to my fiancée underneath the bridge on a boat so it will always hold a special place in my heart.
A bridge with a twist - yet still a bridge
Its really interesting and its far from busy area. I like there
Beautiful at night!!!
Tourguide on canal told "Legend has it that couples who kiss passionately crossing under the Skinny Bridge will be in love forever". Its a lovely spot for a kiss 😉
Its a nice looking place but nothing more special than other bridges to be pointed out... Similar places are all over the city center
A short walk from the tram. Perfect for couples to walk across the bridge. This bridge is also known as Love Lock Bridge. If you kiss your lover on this bridge, you will stay together forever! You can no longer secure a padlock along the bridge.
This was beautiful. I saw the bridge separate for a boat to pass. This was really beautiful.
Its such a beautiful place that I cant even describe with words. I’m in love with this beautiful city🥰❤️❤️❤️
Visited it twice, second time because it was the location for the Mai 5 Liberation Day concert, attended by the King and Queen.
Its a bridge which is a useful way of crossing the canal. Apparently has a lot of history, like most things in Amsterdam.
Its a bridge okay it looks nice when lit up at night but primarily function is for crossing so take care when taking photos.
Beautiful to see at night. Such a perfect atmosphere.
The Skinny bridge or “Magre Bruge” is an old bridge in Amsterdam. The bridge got its name, because in the old times, the working class people had to walk across the bridge to get to their job. Due to very heavy congestions, people had to walk almost side by side to be able to cross the narrow bridge. Legends say that if you kiss your loved one on the bridge, it will last forever.
Nice area to walk around. Watch out for people on bikes and scooters.
The SKINNY BRIDGE in Amsterdam Netherlands was easy to navigate. We were able to walk across and view the canal. Such a beautiful site.
A beautiful place to hang around. The bridge wasn’t big but the structure was special. Knowing the story and the engineering behind it made the trip even better! A great spot for taking photos and sitting along the bank with friends. Lovely.
Sat near here with my son eating a slice of cheesecake from Cheesy Cakes. Fantastic to have this so near to hand.
Good looking old bridge with history
The Magere Brug (English: Skinny Bridgeis a bridge across the Amstel River in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. It connects the banks of the river at Kerkstraat, between Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht.
I actually got given a different name for this bridge. 2 Sisters bridge. The sorry is that 2 sisters lived on opposite sides and the bridge was built to reunite them. All the same its a lovely addition to the nighttime view of the river and quite a nice story.Swing by.
Really nice place to stay for a quick relaxation or just to see the view over the river and Amsterdam! There are also some breweries next to the bridge which serve the popular Amstel beer.
Not sure what’s the hype around this bridge. Just another metal bridge over a canal.
A lovely location with iconic backdrops for photographs of Amsterdam. Not massively busy but I do feel for the people of Amsterdam trying to go about their business with hoardes of tourists stopping to take photos. Loads to do with in a short walk of here.
The Magere Brug, also known as the Skinny Bridge is a bridge over the river Amstel connecting the Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht and famously features in the James Bond movie, Diamonds Are Forever. The centre of the bridge features two drawbridges that can be raised to allow taller ships to pass. Really there nothing especially notable about the bridge apart from its film appearances. I wouldnt go out of the way to see this.
Supposed to be the most beautiful bridge in Amsterdam. It certainly was pretty and had lovely views up and down the waterways. Worth a visit if you havent been before.
It a bridge... Nice to see it if you pass by. You have near the Hermitage museum and the zoo. Maybe more but this is what I saw
Nice old wooden bridge from 1934 but the first bridge was built in 1691. Good to see :)
We recently walked over Magere Brug (Skinny Bridgewhich crosses the Amstel River just south of the Hermitage Museum and Blue Bridge (Blauwbrug). There have been bridge crossings at this location since the late 17th century. The name Skinny Bridge is apparently from that time period. What you find today is a modern bridge built in 1934 by Piet Kramer, it features a thousand light bulbs which illuminate the bridge in the evening. Otherwise, the bridge is a rather straightforward with a centre section which can be opened for larger watercraft making way up or down the Amstel River.Have a closer look if you plan to visit the nearby Hermitage Museum or if you simply have interest in bridges and are in the area.
Delightful piece of Amsterdam. Especially on late summer nights.A place to stop, take in the view and admire the city from the water.
Nice bridge.. i guess the view is much nicer at night when colored lights make a special athmosphere.. at day it is just a crowded bridge...
Famous for being featured in the Connery bond film Diamonds are Forever. Thats the one with Bambi and Thumper and the camp hit men, classic. As for the bridge its in good order and of a similar design to a couple of others in the area that were not featured in a bond film. They might have been in some shots of Baptiste on the BBC recently, but nobodys going on about that.
I got many beautiful pics at this bridge, nothing special but good view. Easy to come from the city center, close to National Opera and Ballet building.
Well it not really skinny. Its the opening for the boats that is small. An ok attraction but hey there is a geocache stored there.. so at least that.
Great view of the buildings, passing ships. We stopped on a bike tour and they told us a history story about some rich people who lived on each side of the river and wanted to connect it. Idk, i just know it was a great view. The little mini lift bridge part is strange since all the other bridges are solid.
While not overly impressive, the Amsterdam Skinny Bridge is still worth crossing off your list, especially if admired from a boat. According to our guide, if lovers share a kiss under it they will be together forever so bonus points for the romantics!
It is amongst one of the oldest Bridges in Amsterdam. Nice place to visit and not so crowded at all
Interesting spot to visit in Amsterdam, especially if youre a history buff. Not too crowded, beautiful especially at night. Best viewed in a canal cruise.
Fantastic piece of architecture in the Amsterdam and worth a visit if youre in the area. Its right next to a lot of other cool exhibits such as the Willet-Holthuysen Museum and the Amsterdam Botanical Gardens. Probably not worth a trip all on its own but if youre stopping by another nearby exhibits, definitely swing by and marvel at the gorgeous architecture of this bridge.
The local lore has it that this bridge was commissioned by two sisters that lived on opposite banks of the Amstel and wanted to see each other more often. On a sunny summer day, I highly recommend experiencing Amsterdam by boat. Not one of those tours, but by small pleasure craft. Youll see a completely different side of the city
Its a skinny bridge in a city of over 1,500+ bridges. Almost each bridge is a photo opp in this incredibly beautiful city, I dont see this as a must-see.
